Absolutely "THE BEST" Top Tier Surgeon & Staff…read more I was referred by another spine surgeon to Dr. Cyr after two previous laminectomies, years of physical therapy, decompression therapy, two years of radio frequency ablations, and many more years of pain pills and suffering with back pain. After looking Dr. Cyr on the internet, I was impressed with his credentials; having trained at Mayo Clinic and having served as the Chief of Air Force Spine Surgery and Spine Surgery Consultant to the Surgeon General of the Air Force and Pentagon. I figured that he would be the best choice on which to seek spinal fusion surgery and so I was expectantly looking forward to meeting with him and discussing my options as all other attempts at alleviating my back pain had been exhausted. I was so encouraged after my first appointment. His staff spends ample time with the patient and explains in detail what to expect and what not to expect. The doctor does not even begin surgery until after conducting three extensive diagnostic tests in order to 1) ensure you're a candidate for spinal fusion, and 2) to pinpoint the exact cause and area of the pain so it can be treated properly. Scheduling went very smooth as my surgery was performed at Memorial Hermann Surgical Hospital First Colony (near Sugarland) which in it self is a Top Tier facility. They took wonderful care of me during my five days of in-hospital recovery. This surgery is not to be undertaken lightly. Dr. Cyr is very strict on his expectations during recovery. The patient is expected to follow through with his instructions; especially during the first three to six months post surgery. Along with the recovery time SA Spine schedules timely and frequent follow-up appointments; every three months following surgery. In addition the offices are available and respond quickly to questions either by phone or email. I have not been disappointed and I know I made the right choice. For me the results have been excellent!! Most importantly "No More Back Pain". I highly recommend Dr. Cyr and SA Spine.

She actually tossed an envelope containing imaging at my daughter upon arrival. She is curt and her tone is angry if she speaks at all. There is no politeness from this woman. I'm currently looking for another surgical facility because I'm tired of paying thousands for us to be treated poorly. It's not conducive to the healing process.

I tried Chiropractic, steroid shots, Arosti. Nothing worked. I actually went to an alternative pain clinic several times. One morning after the session I could not get off the table. They had to help me sit on a couch. Some mornings, I could not walk at all. My wife would have to give me pain killers, gabapentin and muscle relaxers before I could move again. I had to stop working August 2025 because I had to drive to work across town and sit at a desk all day. I could not drive if I took the meds and the owner would not let me work from home. I finally sought medical help. I had CT scans, x-rays and MRIs. After a VA Dr. diagnosed me, I was able to choose the Dr. of my choice for the treatment. I found Dr. Monsivais at the recommendation of a friend that works for neurosurgeons in the operating room. She told me that he was very well respected and had a great reputation. It has been 3 months since my operation. I feel like a new person. I do not have any pain, I walk upright and I go to the gym 4-5 times a week. Dr. Monsivais changed my life. He explained what needed to be done and took very good care of me. My spine was pretty much squeezing my nerves shut not allowing me to walk. Again, I feel great now.

So I waited over an hour basically to be told to reschedule. Dr Sensei told me to reschedule on my way out. Then I tried to reschedule when I left but the man at the window said the ladies were gone and nobody was here to reschedule me. I wanted to do it while I was there because getting scheduled via the phone was nearly impossible before. He assured me over and over someone would call me the next day and talked over me. He would not listen to me. After being shooed away, Nobody called me the next day. I finally got rescheduled with Dr Rojas. Dr Rojas never actually came into see me right away to explain to me anything. It was my first injection. A tech came and got me prepped for my hip injection. He answered all my questions and explained things to me. The tech was amazing. He was professional and treated me like a human being. When Dr Rojas finally came to do the minor procedure, she was short, rude and lacked compassion. I've been working in the medical field for 24 years and I was not impressed one bit. This whole clinic needs help. I will never go back to this clinic.

I have arthritis in my sacroiliac joints, and as Dr. Hirsch has said, "Really bad hips". Over the past couple of years we've tried everything (steroid shots, etc.) until it was time to go big and burn the nerves in my lower back. The problem is that my insurance provider, Tricare, wouldn't approve the procedure. SO, when Humana became TriWest last year for certain people, Dr. Hirsch wrote an appeal letter, and the procedure was approved. It was approved in early September 2025, and, per the TriWest representatives I've talked to, a copy of the approval letter containing the codes they approved for billing was sent to STSC a couple days later. The problem starts the week before the procedure, where I re-read the approval letter and realized I didn't contact the clinic to make an appointment. However, when I spoke to someone at the clinic, they told me everything was fine, and I didn't need to bring my letter with me on the day of the procedure. I need to note that for a full month before the procedure, I was in INCREDIBLE pain that NOTHING would help, so to say I was both in pain and relieved when the day of the appointment came around would be an understatement. So, apparently, clinic staff told me, while I was in a fog of pain and Xanax, that this would be a "self pay" procedure. I don't remember that, but I wouldn't doubt that I initialed it. The procedure is done, and it helped SO MUCH! I was incredibly thankful until a bill of $1,500 appeared in my inbox, and I noticed that TriWest had NOT been billed. I started communicating through the STSC portal, and the lady I was talking to agreed to bill TriWest. However, a few days later I got another bill informing me that TriWest had only paid $50. Frustrated, I called TriWest again, and they told me that STSC had billed with the wrong codes, and that they could only pay something billed to those exact codes. I went ahead and aske the lady I was speaking to please re-bill with the correct codes, and her response was literally, "we are not changing our codes. I am sorry for the confusion. Please contact the billing office to make arrangements for payment of the balance due. Thank you." SO, long story short, I have to pay $1,500 because they seem to have lost my paperwork (thus the whole "self pay" thing), and didn't let me know that they cannot bill the codes that TriWest approved. This has been stressful AF, and while I love Dr. Hirsch, and PA Senisi, I have to think long and hard if I will ever go back, because of the incompetence of at least some of their staff...and sadly enough, 37 other one star reviews seem to show that this lack of giving a damn about the patients runs rife at South Texas Spinal Clinic.
