And, Dr. Lum also identified that my issues were caused by abfractions from teeth clenching, something other dentists had mistaken for aggressive brushing. I just started seeing Dr. Lum this year, while my daughters have been going to see Dr. SIinsay since they were toddlers. Why did it take me so long. The admin staff are amazing, friendly and welcoming. They help with all my needs when it comes to scheduling or billing. The office and rooms are neat and clean. My visits have been pleasant. Never left a cleaning with sore gums or teeth hurting and my teeth feel cleaner and whiter. Dr. Lum had pointed out an issue that my past dentist never mentioned in the 20+ yrs I was a patient. When I came in for my appointment today, the receptionist was accomodating and I didn't have to wait super long hours to be checked. They got my forms and they sit me down right away. All of the staff were really friendly and makes sure that you're comfortable before they continue with your treatment. The place was really clean and organized, it makes me feel confident that my oral health is in good hands in this clinic. The dentist was really kind and approachable, she wanted to make sure that everything is okay and if you have questions regarding the check up or the procedure, she will answer all of your questions thoroughly. Dr. Lum has been our family dentist for about 8 years, and we are very happy here. The staff are so nice and attentive, the office is very clean and bright. Scheduling is easy, and COVID precautions are still in place. I have had lots of fillings and procedures over the years from other offices, and had at least 4 other dentists while studying or living in other places, but Dr. Lum is by far my favorite. He never recommends unnecessary procedures, and the ones that have been done are not painful at all. Our kids (4 and 8) are also happy coming here and leave with smiles. read more

I have had a phobia of going to the dentist since childhood. So much so that I went 7 years without a check up. I knew I had cavities and ignored the pain for about a year. It came to the point I could not take it any longer. My mother suggested I go to Dr. Lum and assured me he and his staff would treat me well. I gathered my courage and made an appointment. Christine, who handles administrative business and billing, was empathetic and patient in accommodating my needs. So far I've had 3 visits, including a regular cleaning, root canal, fillings, and a crown (that's what I get for waiting 7 years). Dr. Lum was gentle, patient, and explained every step to me. Norma (please forgive me if I got her name wrong), the dental assistant, was equally kind, patient, and explained everything she was going to do. The next day after a procedure, Christine sends me a text asking me how I'm feeling and addresses any concerns I may have. Wow! Talk about excellent patient care. I actually look forward to going in, even for a root canal! The human approach used in this office is what makes the difference. And obviously, Dr. Lum's excellent dentistry skills. Very professional and upfront in analyzing dental procedure needed to be done. Dental hygienist (Norma) is always on hand preparing all the required X-ray and Christine efficiently follow up with dental insurance coverage and billing. There's no surprise billing here like other health insurance. You also get all the advice from Dr. Lum of how to take care of your teeth and you're in good hand when emergency arises with dental infection and needing prescription or instruction of what to do. Dr. Lum has the most efficient staff working along his side. The staff and the doc himself are professional, friendly, and very knowledgable about dentistry and also your specific oral needs. His same team members have been with him well over a decade and that said a lot about how well they work together. They are on time, every time, so don't be late. Dr. Lum's skills and thorough approach put me at ease. He has always taken the time during the work session. He also proactively explained the condition of my oral health and only recommended the must-do work. I moved 4 times (2 out of state) in the last 5 years and still kept him as my dentist while working my schedule when visiting. I initially book both my boyfriend and my appointment with the receptionist, Christine. We needed a dental exam and cleaning. She was very helpful and explained all the details with our insurance. She is such a sweetheart! Dr. Lum and his team were very nice and friendly. The environment was clean and inviting, which was very important because my boyfriend is terrified to go to the dentist which prolong him to ever visit one. Clean small office the receptionist tried to deny me to be seen by the dr. Im pleased by the Dr front desk not soo good. Im pregnant and didnt want x-rays done i had done previous x- rays done by a different dentist i was about to be denied to be seen soo i agreed to a partial x-ray. I have a choice either a root canal or extraction. The choice is difficult still looking for the right dentist maybe holding off on the option. I dont want to cause harm to me and my developing baby. Five stars isn't enough when rating Dr. Michael Lum and his staff. I've been seeing Dr. Lum for about 7 years and by far the best dentist I've experienced. I'm 39 and have two girls ages 8 and 11. My wife and kids were seeing a local dentist that my wife has seen since her childhood. Last year we made the change to Dr. Lum for my wife and kids and here's why. My wife had an aching molar that her old dentist part of the Almaden Dental Care group could not fix. It was very sensitive and painful depending on the time of day and foods she would eat. This went on for about two years, dealing with the same area of her mouth. Finally, I convinced her to see Dr. Lum and voila long story short, turns out she needed a root canal. She is now pain free. I also had all my old silver fillings replaced with the new white porcelain about 7-9 months ago. I was reluctant to do this after reading horror stories on the internet. In fact, i canceled my appt twice LOL...However, one of my friends who also is a patient of Dr. Lum, had it done without any problems so I decided to proceed. I'm extremely happy with the results and I didn't experience any problem areas. I had both the uppers and lowers done. I believe it's because Dr. Lum cares and is very knowledgeable in Dentistry. They have latest equipment and technology, very professional, caring and honest. Most importantly, they have always worked well with our insurance provider which changes year to year with my company. I used to go to Dr. Mikes dad when I was a wee one, and I was the kid who had to go to the orthodontist and the dentist CONSTANTLY as a kid...I had braces (the nasty silver ones) headgear, YOU NAME IT. I never wanted to go to a dentist EVER AGAIN. A broken tooth necessitated a crown...and Dr. Mike worked magic. How much magic, you ask? I, who am terrified of the dentist...decided to get my chompers fixed permanently and get veneers. If you know about veneers, it is about the most intense process I can imagine.
