Today is 14 July. Finally someone showed up to work on our addition. 9 months ago Shawn told us that he would have a full crew working to complete our project. That never happened. Here are a few pics. Significant completion on means nothing on there payment schedule which was December 2023. We were told our project would be move in ready. Now there's mold from the water leaks. Nothing has been discussed on how they are going to correct these issues. Someone finally showed up at 1040 today. With the stress of being caregivers for my 90 year father, this has affected us mentally & financially. Please do not fall for the fancy, glowing show room with awards. It's beyond me, how they sleep at night & are still in business. This is a story for 7 on your side. Other home owners maybe we can all share our stories. tips@wjla.com

Bay window left on the driveway for two days
    Marwa Elsiguiny -.

On June17, 2024, I decided to make this update because that was the scheduled day for the delivery of my kitchen. However, nothing has happened so far. There is chaos everywhere: - Chaos in promises: The company owner promised to personally start the work and have weekly calls with me, but that only happened in the first week. - Chaos in work: The extension was built in 6 days, including two days where a single worker did most of the work. The electrical and plumbing only took two days. - Four months have passed and I am still waiting for the kitchen to be finished, but only 8 days of work have been done on it. - Chaos and serious mistakes in measurements: The measurements were taken incorrectly, forcing me to change the window size to a smaller one. - Delay in delivering the window until the beginning of this week: Upon installation, my husband and I discovered a mistake in the measurements, requiring adjustments to be made in the construction. If we hadn't noticed it ourselves, we would have faced even bigger mistakes. Additionally, when the window was finally delivered, it was left outside on my driveway for two whole days, one of which it was raining. There was essentially no coordination between the delivery date and the day the workers were supposed to start installing the window. We were supposed to travel to our country after the kitchen was finished to visit my sick father-in-law. Unfortunately, due to their delays, we lost my father-in-law without seeing him or saying goodbye. We informed them of our need to travel, but as usual, they didn't care.

This is as of now on June 23, 2024. The great garage conversion into an in-law suite.

Probably the best thing you can say about our original furniture is that it was eclectic. More truthfully, it simply didn't really look that great, pretty much a "before" project on what you'd see on HGTV. Once Vanessa and Michelle got through with it, the interior of the house was totally transformed. The first step was Vanessa came through the house with her contractor, Arlin, and recommended changes to be made, including updating ceiling fans, light fixtures, installing recessed lights, etc. We didn't do everything she recommended but we did most. Vanessa coordinated all of the contracting work done by Arlin and his team, and provided all the quotes. The prices for the various jobs were very competitive, generally cheaper than other estimates I received from other contractors. The bottom line is that the results speak for themselves. We received multiple offers and sold the house for $110K over list within 5 days for the highest price ever sold in our neighborhood. I couldn't have asked for much more than that. Attached are a few pics of the finished product. I definitely recommend using Inspired Home Design for updating and staging your home. I'm sure glad I did.

She has a great eye for design and color and is easy to talk to and personable-- this was especially important to me since I wanted to work with someone that I can "click" with. There are tons of design options out there and I can easily spend multiple days just trying to pick out a single piece of furniture, let alone trying to make it look good and work with an entire room, so Colleen's services are invaluable. I just let her and her team do the hard work of putting together color palettes, layouts and mood boards and I tweak little details to my liking if I want. My entire house now looks instagrammable (can't help but notice how good rooms look in the background when I take pictures of the kids around the house) and I'm enjoying its looks as well as function every single day thanks to Colleen and RedBird!

Joy used mood boards to help us visualize the plan and updated them frequently with our preferences. Joy took care of all scheduling of contactors and ordering the supplies. She was also easy to contact and really kept us updated during the entire project. I think her fees were a great value and well worth it. She had some really great ideas we would never have thought of. The final product was a wonderful combination of what we were looking for and what really worked. Just top notch work. What started as a kitchen remodel quickly turned into a full-home renovation because everything was going so smoothly--and that's thanks to the amazing team at Shea Studio and Duran Contracting. Bonnie was our main designer, and she was incredible--super thoughtful, creative, and totally invested in the project. Leah kept everything running smoothly behind the scenes, and June (the owner) was hands-on during all the key phases. They were all great to work with: professional, seemingly always available, and flexible. What made a huge difference was how much time they spent upfront getting to know our style and what we needed from the space. We'd never done that kind of deep dive before, and it made everything else so much easier. From there, it felt like they just "got" us--they really took our vision and ran with it. They helped us find the right partners for everything--cabinets, appliances, furniture, lighting, even a custom wine room. Everyone they brought in was top-notch and fairly priced. Plus, they handled all the scheduling, deliveries, and any issues that popped up (like damaged items or delays), so we didn't have to worry about a thing. If you're thinking about remodeling or redesigning your home, we can't recommend Shea Studio enough. They're talented, professional, and just great people. Our home even won a Home & Design award this year--and we've included photos so you can see for yourself!

I was kind of awkward at first, knowing that we might have different taste. However, June listened and adjusted to what I liked. In a short time, we selected a delightful suite of living room furniture. June made sure the furniture arrived on time and arrived on the delivery day to put everything gorgeously in place while I worked on my business, including tactfully putting aside some junk and even offering to hang our art. That gave me huge relief, because it was the day before my guests were to arrive, and I had no time to deal with it. I was also impressed that June did many things off the clock and didn't charge us extra when she realized it would suit our taste and lack of time best to order our art gallery wrapped. June also found a way to repurpose four lamps that we had so that they went with the decor where they were situated. I have already hired Shea Studio Interiors for an additional project to spruce up my bedroom and office. Additionally, June's suggestion to move my office from upstairs to downstairs has tremendously benefitted my business operations, will save me on taxes, and will provide me a better sense of peace in the upstairs, "home" part of my home/office. My family was very comfortable using the furniture we selected (except for the jealousy, perhaps), and my sister-in-law said it looked like something out of a magazine! In short, Shea Studio made our house more homey and beautiful and our office more businesslike and functional. Highly recommend.
