First time, I was 16 and I wore braces. I never finished my treatment due to economic hardship. Well, I'm older and now it's my coins so, I'm coming here to finish the job. I'm very particular about who is chosen for both my medical & dental teams. I must have the best of the best with top knotch bedside manner. I was recommended to come here by my dental hygienist, Lisa Wilson of U of MD. She swears by him, I swear by her so if trust anything she says. She never had steered me wrong. I was warmly welcomed over the phone and scheduling my consult was easy. My consult appointment was so informative. I was given pictures, he gave me an honest account of what it would take, how much it would cost and the final result. I was told that I'd need extractions (which I expected) and I knew to whom I turn. This time, a recommendation by my dentist, Dr. Douglas Barnes. I previously had gone to Dr. Richard Nessif, oral surgeon for my wisdom teeth extractions and I decided to choose him again. The office is really good and will work in tandem with your oral surgeon. I'm a business professional so, it's difficult for me to be without my Invisalign trays as my extractions would be visible when I spoke. I feared embarrassment and both Dr. Nessif & Dr. Maskeroni came up with a plan of action so that I could get my trays available immediately following extractions. I was recently scanned and Invisalign will virtually remove the tooth from the image and create trays that will fit me post extraction instead of getting scanned and wait 2-3 weeks after extraction. Although I haven't been coming here long and I don't get my trays for a few weeks, I will still say that from what I've seen thus far, I'm very much impressed. I feel like VIP when I go. It took a few years of artistic precision oral construction but in the end, it was very, very successful and we were all very pleased! After that, I was comfortable knowing someday she would do my minor teeth straightening-- and as an adult and a mom, I would not have anyone else work on my teeth for orthodontics. She then told me they could "try to fit me in" and that I would need to wait about 30 minutes because the doctor "had an appointment." Ironically, that appointment was supposed to be she sarcastically said, "It's your choice," while throwing her hands up in a dismissive manner, as if she truly did not care whether I stayed or left. I responded that if this is how new patients are treated, then no thank you. Afterwards, they strongly suggested out-of-pocket procedures which I later discovered were unnecessary and just meant as a money grab. Once I received my bill which the secretary agreed made absolutely no sense we called Dr. Armine Grigoryan who confirmed the bill was correct but refused to explain the fees. I was told they don't give itemized receipts and if I didn't pay the outrageous bill IN FULL they couldn't schedule my next appointment. This practice is not only highly unethical but also goes against the policies provided by my insurance company. Unfortunately, due to the extreme pain I was experiencing and desperate circumstances I felt obligated to just pay the bill. It's evident they prey on unsuspecting patients for financial gain. To make matters worse, I returned to Preferred Dental after the advice of a reputable dentist to request my money back. During this visit, Dr. Manveen Sahni proceeded to tell me as I was leaving that I have gum disease and it requires immediate attention. This was a shock to me because this was the first time this issue was brought to my attention. When I asked why wasn't I told this during my initial appointment she stated she didn't have time to tell me and that they were focusing on addressing my main problem. Turns out this is just another scare tactic they practice. (I don't have gum disease) I attempted several phone calls to contact Dr. Armine Grigoryan to address my concerns, only to be put on endless holds with no answer. It's disheartening to think that a place that should prioritize the well-being of its patients would stoop so low to deceive and exploit them. I strongly advise anyone seeking dental care to steer clear of Preferred Dental. Their unethical practices and blatant scamming make them a prime example of what a dental office should not be. Spare yourself the anguish and find a trustworthy dental office that values your health and trust above all else.
