I came into Drs. Hickory & Selnick's office because they have treated my two oldest daughters for orthodontic services. I have been in need of service for years but never bothered to consider my own needs. I was motivated by the state of the art technology I witnessed when visiting with my daughters. When I was the patient, I was amazed at the level of professionalism and concern for every aspect of my care. The initial consultation gave me options that I did not expect to be so cost effective; that's why I chose the Invisalign System. After a complete x-ray and examination it was determined that I was a perfect candidate for the system. My apprehension over the years was due to not wanting to go back to wired braces I had as a child as I am now in my 50's. Initially we discussed an extraction to allow accommodation for the migration of the teeth. I was very impressed when Dr. Hickory sat down with me and showed me a computer enhanced representation of my dental work and the projected movement process. I was even more impressed and relieved to find that, with adjustments to the original plan, an extraction would not be necessary and the treatment time would be greatly reduced. The delivery of the first impressions was very quick. I have been wearing my new Invisaligns for a week and I'm amazed how I actually forget that I'm wearing them. I have used the platform to apply NiteWhite and I'm overjoyed with the results. I hardly recognize myself in the mirror any more. Over the years I've taught myself not to smile showing my teeth. Now I can't wait to be able to show off my new smile when the treatment is completed. I cannot thank the staff at Drs. Hickory & Selnick enough for what they have done. A particular mention needs to go to Marcus Macon, whose professional and personal concern for my well being has made it a pleasure to come into the office. I actually look forward to our visits and the conversations we enjoy together. I feel like I'm part of the Hickory/Selnick family. 1/28/2019 OX does a great job of selling you on the fact that they are the experts, having done more Invisalign then anyone in the US. We allowed that to sway us and justify the much higher fee quote than we received from Baltimore Orthodontic Group for the same treatment. In reality what we got was one disappointment after another. Our first appointment upon arrival we were told they were sorry but our aligners were not in. Our second appointment our aligners were in but at the other location. We had to wait while someone went to retrieve them. Once they arrived, the technician was clearly irritated that this had put her schedule behind. At this appointment we were informed we would not be seen again until we were on the last try of the aligners, that we would be utilizing our phone for monitoring and feedback. This was never mentioned during our consultation. According to the tech this is done under the premise of saving us time, however I could have paid much less with a Smile direct company if I wanted to save myself time & money. How about let me decided,or make sure you spell it out in your consultation. We just spent $6,800.00 we want to see the doctor. Just a few other buyer beware items: They claim they have Saturdays but it's only 1x a month and you must have to be a VIP to get an appointment. We made sure to ask during the consultation if we would have to rotate through the doctors that we prefer to stick with Dr. Selnick who we saw during the consultation. We were told that was not a problem, what they did not mention is that she is rarely in the office, never Saturdays and that getting appointments will be problematic. While the staff is friendly enough you get the feeling they are just going through the motions to get through the day. Lot's of unhappy chatter in the hallways. Overall extremely disappointing, would encourage you not to get caught up in the hard sell, they may do more Invisalign than anyone in the US but it certainly does not make them the best. read more

I have a had a great experience with OX Smiles up until the past 5 weeks. During my treatment I became pregnant and expressed concern about what can be done to help the process go more smoothly and reduce the maintenance once the baby comes. Dr. Selnick was not very receptive or helpful. She essentially said that it was "on me" that my treatment was extended into the "refinement stage" because "pregnancy can change the way your teeth move and adjust to treatment". OK, I know pregnancy has a dramatic effect on your body including maybe your teeth. So when I asked if she had come in to see how my teeth were progressing on an earlier appointment than the standard twelve weeks (which is at the end of the aligners I was given), could we have adjusted the plan then and avoided some of the additional time, her response was "we are not miracle workers". This answer was unsatisfactory to say the least. My takeaway from this exchange is that Dr. Selnick does not feel her job as a doctor is to listen to her patients and to adjust their standard invisalign orthodontic treatment plan per an individual's needs and situation.I will continue with my treatment at this practice since I have invested the time, money and the rest of the staff is very friendly and accommodating. I just will not have any future appointments or interaction with Dr. Selnick. read more

I can not speak highly enough of Drs. Hickory, Selnick & their entire staff at OrthodontiX!! As an adult, I had always been self-conscious about my smile, yet hesitant about exploring dental treatment. I extremely blessed to be referred to OrthodontiX. From my initial consultation to my treatment to the subsequent follow-up, the Drs. & staff demonstrated a genuine care for me as an individual, were knowledgeable & professional, and engaged my feedback in outlining my treatment plan. The staff is extremely personable and there was nothing more comforting than by being remembered by the office staff each time I went into the office. My treatment was extremely affordable and within days of beginning my treatment I was able to see a noticeable difference in my smile. I am currently wearing the Damon system braces and I am extremely happy with the results I have had so far. I see Dr. Selnick for my treatments. Her 'ray of sunshine' personality is a pleasure to be around during appointments . I started up my treatment in early January, Shalisse the administrative director was very helpful in pointing me in the right direction to get things going. She set up my first consultation and worked everything out with me for my first few appointments. Also, during my consultation I had the pleasure of meeting Marcus. His witty demeanor almost talked me into getting invislign, but I stuck with my choice of the Damon :) I have seen a few different techs during my visits. Jen, Natasha and Terry. all of them were very friendly and helpful with all of the questions that I had. Everyone was reassuring about my progress and kept me positive about wearing braces as an adult. I highly recommend if anyone is thinking about getting braces or not sure if you may need them but want to improve your smile, Come in to the office and have a consultation. I really can't say enough good things about OX. The doctors and staff are incredibly friendly, and every appointment has been a positive experience. They are always on time, explain things really well, and are super personable. Unlike any other doctor offices I have gone to, I actually feel like there is a community element to OX and it makes a difference! It didn't factor into my decision at the time (I was more concerned with doctor knowledgeability, my comfort in the office, treatment price, and a good reputation in the area). Knowing what I know now, I feel like I'll be holding other offices up to a higher standard (not sure if that's even fair). In any case, I truly think OX Orthodontix cares about their patients, knows what they are doing, and does everything in their power to make braces or Invisalign (I went with traditional braces because I couldn't be bothered with the extra brushing) a really positive part of your life. Dr. Selnick and the caring staff at OX Orthodontix is nothing short of phenomenal! My 11 year old has a class 3 underbite and has been fitted for a couple mouth devices to get it fixed. I was diagnosed with breast cancer in August of 2014 and received a beautiful pink breast cancer themed care package from the office. Dr. Selnick was very flexible with scheduling my son's appointments around my doctor appointments and it's been very much appreciated, as my husband is in the military and currently deployed. Both the Ellicott City and Centerville offices are clean and very professional looking with top-notch- top of the line equipment. The front desk staff is extremely friendly and keep me updated on the status of our appointment...no long waiting. I had a hard time turning my son's mouth device and the staff eased my frustrations by having me come in to the office so that we could review the turning techniques. I went to OX as a second opinion and I am SO glad I came here. Right off the bat, the atmosphere was so nice and modern. I felt very relaxed and the front desk staff are friendly and helpful. First I met with the new patient coordinator who was extremely helpful and kind which made me feel at ease. She was also very thorough and detailed when going over my options with me. Then, I met with Dr. Selnick and she gave me three different options which I was not given by my first orthodontists and I was very pleased with that because she really helped me to understand what was wrong with my teeth and how I could fix them in many different ways. Dr. Selnick was also very friendly and was very receptive to my concerns about the previous opinion I had gotten. As an adult, they also made me feel very comfortable because I always thought that I was "too late" or "too old" to get braces but they gave me the invisalign option which I was not given at my previous orthodontists. read more

We have had three family members get braces with OX smiles and the fourth will be starting in the fall. After having a negative experience at another orthodontist, we did a lot of shopping around. Not only did OX give us a great price, but all of the staff are so wonderful to work with. Everyone is so friendly (and so patient with my son that has a very sensitive gag reflex.) I was told by another office that my teenager should not do Invisalign even though he did a lot of performing and wanted to be able to remove his braces for shows. Oxsmiles supported us in this decision and he had an amazing experience with e Invisalign and his teeth turned out beautifully. They have done a superb job with all of us--including me! I am in my mid 20s and decided to get braces. already being nervous about the overall decision, I sought out consults and after visiting the office and meeting Dr. Selnick i was sold. They weren't pushy and upselling like some orthos which made me very comfortable in my decision. The staff in the office are really friendly and welcoming. i would recommend anyone who is getting braces or considering getting braces get a consult, they will definitely win you over!....oh and ask for Natasha, she's really nice and patient! **8/ 12 Update*** I am so happy with my treatment. it has only been 6 months (estimated treatment time 18 months) and all the gaps/spacing are closed and my teeth are thrust outward anymore. i don't wear elastics religiously as i should, but my results have still been amazing i rarely smiled in pictures but i now i can't stop!!! read more

The best. Period. Especially Simone. My son Jackson has Asperger's. OX was recommended by his pediatric dentist for their experience with children on the Autism Spectrum. They certainly go above and beyond to deal with Jackson and his phobias. He has had to start with an expander. He allows me to turn the key on the bottom one (because it comes out and I don't have to reach in his mouth to do so). However, he doesn't want me to do the turns on the top appliance. That's where Simone comes in. She has built an incredible rapport with Jackson and he totally trusts her to turn his top appliance. She squeezes him into her schedule twice a week and it always so upbeat. I really appreciate OX and Simone for their willingness to work with patients who are more difficult than the average patient. I have been a patient of Ox Smiles for a little over a year. I love my treatment that I have received from the OX Smiles team. Everytime I visit the office I am greeted by their friendly office staff, Erin always greets me by my name and assures me that someone will be with me shortly. I had braces when I was a teenager...like many, I didn't wear my retainer as I should. Upon recommendation from a number of friends, I brought my daughter to OX Smiles for orthodontia, and a month later, I decided to start Invisalign. I am now finishing up my treatment and getting ready for my retainers (which I will wear this time). It has been the best experience, and as I've told a number of my friends, it has been by far the best thing I've done for myself. I used to shy away from having my picture taken, or immediately critique my smile in every picture. I'm so much happier with my smile, which has made me happier in general. We are on our second round with OX and they continue to exceed our expectations. Our first daughter's teeth required a top expander and braces and she looks amazing now! Our second daughter has both top and bottom expanders currently and will be getting her top braces in 8 weeks. Needless to say, we require lots of orthodontics! We have been with the practice now for about 4 years total and are extremely happy with the level of service that we have received. Their customer service is amazing too. Everyone is so sweet, caring and Dr. Selnick was so patient and explained everything to my husband as I as we both went through the Invisalign experience together. The OX team is more like a family. Both of my teen children have been going to see Drs. HIckory and Selnick now for a few years. My oldest son has had his braces removed about 8 months ago and his teeth are perfect. My daughter is currently going through her treatment and we were very impressed with the improvement of her appearance so quickly. I like this practice because there seems to always be good options for appointments and they have two locations for convenience. When my son had a wire slip they were able to bring him in out of normal office hours to fix the situation. The staff is professional and friendly and my children always seemed at ease going there. They have gone above and beyond in dealing with my daughter's extremely complicated orthodontic case.
