My dental crown fell off my implant. I came to the Michael Barnard DDS PA (1209 W Broward Blvd Fort Lauderdale, FL 33312) clinic to find out how much it would cost to fix the crown to the implant. The girls at the front desk said $110, I agreed and did the apointment the next day. The next day they confirmed to me again that fixing the crown would cost $110 and demanded that I pay this amount in advance. I paid this money. After that, they took an x-ray of this implant (it is in perfect condition) and forgot about me. I sat in the dentist's chair for more than two hours reading all the news and my email on my phone. After that, the doctor appeared, examined my implant and the fallen crown and said to re-cement it and also disappeared. After some time, a certain Freyda appeared and began to demand that I pay an additional $450 without any additional services, only because $110 in her opinion is too cheap a price, despite the signed contract and the money paid in advance. I refused to pay the additional money and she refused to provide me with a medical service and refused to return my money. Only after I declared that I would not leave without money and demanded that the police be called, my money was returned to me. Moreover, Freyda called me names and humiliated me many times, said that I was the most greedy, the rudest, the most boorish of all the patients and that I should never appear in this clinic again in my life. This practice is crooked! They would not perform the procedure that I needed. They wanted to do something else that was very costly, so they could make money off of me. The procedure that I wanted was fully covered by my insurance. I am struggling financially, so to be treated like a throw-away, being forced by salesman, who did not care about the pain I was in, was disheartening. The exam tech and receptionist were amazing. The lady that came in to run my insurance was the worst. She was trying to bargain with me about services that I did not need. "This is by far the worst dental office I've ever been to. Every time I visit, I never get the chance to see the dentist. He always makes excuses, usually blaming insurance issues. Even after getting the appropriate insurance, this office has sent me home over five times, and I live 25 minutes away. It's incredibly frustrating. My first impression of this dentist office was, clean, friendly staff, and overall good customer service. I have tried the high end dental offices where everything is top of the line and modern contemporary, but that's usually a sign that they will rip you off and charge you for everything including the saliva you swallow. I was referred to Dr. Barnards office because I heard great things about him and his staff. I was not disappointed. From my initial visit the staff greeted and easy enrollment process. I was seen By Dr. Martinez which she's amazing and knowledgable about her craft in dentistry. She explained to me step by step what I need work on and explained each procedure. I was treated for a re-treatment of root canal, a small cavity, and main purpose porcelain crown. My insurance covered about 70% and I payed the rest out of pocket. I spoke to Martha from financial office and she sat with me and explained in detail what each fee was for and the different options I had. She never tried to brand or sell me anything I did not want and was honest about the services that I needed. I agreed on a payment plan and made payments on each office visit, but nothing that I could not afford paying for. Overall, staff is amazing with good moral character and friendly. I think I was discriminated by this practice. As a spinal cord injured person I have to take pain killers and they seemed strange about it all. I had a back molar that needed extraction but they told me they don't pull this tooth. They did not provide a referral. Ended up going to Nova School of Dentistry. Called a week later asking (anonymously) if they pulled this tooth and they replied yes. What gives? Did they think I was a crackhead? All they had to do is look at the surgical scars on my spinal cord. I could have provided medical records also. I should have consulted with a lawyer because if your business is open to the public, you can't engage in this kind of discrimination. read more

My recent experience was very pleasant. I was greeted by a very friendly receptionist and staff. I really liked my dentist Dr. Darlen Gonzalez. She was very professional and explained everything to me in detail. She was also very patient and not rushed. Just updating per the response i received from this office. No I did not need a deeper cleaning. I have been to several dental offices since the poor experience I received here and it was never advised that I needed any deep cleaning. The fact that you assumed and wrote my personal medical information (although incorrectly) seems to violate doctor/ patient confidentiality laws or just common respect at the very least. I don't live in the area of this office but Dr.Barnard was recommended, so I decided to try this office. I had the absolute worst experience I've ever had. They took my deductible/ copay for an extraction. Dr. Barnard gave me 4 shots of nova Caine. He took forever to return and when he tried to pull my tooth I started to feel the pressure. He told the nurse that an oral surgeon can do it and left the room to run to another patient. The nurse looked lost. Both left me in the chair, mouth full of blood. I asked what's going on and she said he is referring you to an oral surgeon. So I asked, Why did you take my money, he was only in the room for 5 minutes and left. He was clearly overbooked. Did not have time to pull my tooth properly. I demanded my money back and left the office. What dentist does not stay with their patient and explain what's going on and just leaves them bewildered and confused. I would never recommend this office. The office staff was nice but Dr.Barnard has no respect for his patients. It's all about money. It's also not the cleanest office either. Unfortunately, I was unable to see the dentist That I was referred to, but I was pleasantly surprised after a short disappointment when I was referred to another. I could not be happier. The office manager Freyda assured me that I would be more than satisfied with Dr. Z. I Was a bit apprehensive at first not knowing what to expect, but I am very happy with my decision to make the switch. She was wonderful. I can't say enough how wonderful Dr. Barnard is and Cindy, too. WONDERFUL!!! We were in town for a few hours when my son lost a filling right before we were to leave on a month long cruise to South America. Cindy took time to look up my insurance information (since I hadn't packed it and businesses were still closed in my home state) Dr. Barnard saw my son right away, confirmed that his tooth was going to be fine, that it didn't need an expensive repair. Dr Barnard gave him a temporary filling just to make sure we woudn't run into trouble while in the middle of the ocean. The cost was $40. I am so grateful to them! They took care of us, when we weren't even locals, I didn't have my insurance information and that they could have charged me an exhorbitant amount, because I was panicky and would have paid anything. Had an appointment for a filling. Arrived five minutes before my time to complete paperwork. Their website stated average five to ten minute wait times. "Cool" About average for any dentist office wait time I've experienced in my 40 years. SO, sitting..........waiting....... Then, a man who was waiting was called. He responded, "bout time! I've been here over two hours." I thought, "that's not good." After seventy minutes I was finally called. I was already not happy with the wait. While I was waiting, I was charged for a service that had not been performed yet. Thought that is different. Finally had an x-ray and was told that they had a room ready and would perform the quick filling. The nurse took me over to the vacant room, but to her surprise another patient was already in the seat. Dr Gonzallez came over and said the other patient was here first and I would have to wait longer. (total time 96 minutes at this point) I stated to Dr Gonzallez that the other patient entered the waiting room at least thirty to forty minutes after I did. Dr Gonzallez stated that I was wrong. I replied, "We are done here and I am leaving now." Now after at least seven years of higher education, I would think that the "Doctor" would know that the person waiting in the waiting room would have much better idea when people entered the waiting room. After all, the Doctor is not in the waiting room. Also, maybe the Doctor should check the "SIGN IN SHEET" that all Dr offices have before calling a patient a Liar. LEAVES A LOT TO QUESTION ABOUT DR GONZALLEZ'S PERSONAL, PROFESSIONAL, AND MEDICAL INTEGRITY. It doesn't speak very highly about the rest of the practice. It's already hard enough to come in and pay for certain pain without being treated like that.
