I was on a trip driving across the country and we needed a place to eat dinner but everything closed by 9pm so we stopped here. It was in the cut pretty far off the highway & by a park with several homeless people so was a little sketchy late at night but the food was really good! It's a typical brewing company and I don't drink beer but the chicken Caesar wrap with tots was amazing ! Way too many tots but if ur in this area in the day I would recommend it. Our first time here at this brewery! We have been to Bristol many times over the years so I made point while crowd was low at start of week to come visit. First let me say the staff was super friendly and even though it was a quiet night had a great vibe. They let you try beers before making a decision. I decided I needed a painkiller.. they also have full bar! The downstairs has seating inside at bar and few tables plus seating outside. Up stairs is another bar with stage and Birds Eye view of brewery. Tonight was a small group upstairs with kareoke. We sat downstairs and ordered fried pickles .. they were real good came with spicy dip and ranch dip.. hubby got wings I got 2 sliders with tots. Great flavor and our server was so nice. She had been here since opened. Oh and another employee I forgot his name, took me up in elevator and gave me small history of the building.. he was great and they all made you feel like you could just hang out as long as you wanted! Looking for a craft beer brewing location while in Bristol and was recommended to stop at Waltrips brewery. We were greeted upon arriving , place was fairly busy day after Christmas; promptly seated. My wife ordered wings and I a burger and son a burger. The inside was a lot smaller then I anticipated and I thought more of a racing theme shared with brewery's image of it beers. Selection of beers were fairly limited but very tasty. Burgers were decent size; fries could be a bit larger portion for the cost, but we did save a few calories. A good stop if you're in Bristol, good beers and food; service was very good, but if looking for craft beers variety I'd look into a few other local pubs. read more

We're at Bristol for the weekend for the nascar races. Of course my Nascar obsessed hubby wanted to come here! It's just a few blocks from downtown (we're staying at the Bristol hotel and it was a quick 5 min walk). Service (5/5): Service was quick and our food came out fast. Food (4/5): The grilled cheese was amazing- lots of gooey cheese flowing out of perfectly grilled toast. The three slices of bacon were amazing! Fries could have been a bit crisper. Beer was amazing! If you're here during "race week", spend your money and time elsewhere. They're overwhelmed. There's a hostess stand near the door that typically means a patron should wait there prior to being seated. After 10 minutes of waiting with no attention from employees, a spot opened at the bar so we took it. I ordered a flight. The bartender said "I just can't keep up with flights". She went on to tell us that she tried to order additional glassware prior to "race week" but they didn't show up. The confusing part was the 16oz pours were in plastic. (I should note there were several empty tables and open spots at the bar.) After we were told we couldn't get a flight, we saw no less than 5 tables get flights...which is great! But the bartenders are so overwhelmed that it's best you venture elsewhere if you're looking for good beer, an inviting atmosphere and good food. read more

My wife had several drinks that they called the "Barbie" drink and she loved them. Our bartender was very friendly and helpful picking drinks. My wife and I attended the night race and saw Michael's brewery driving around town. Stopped by on Saturday and met Brian, one of the partners, who was extremely gracious and took ample time to speak with us, discuss their goals and how it all came about. He invited us back on Sunday, saying he thought Michael would be in. On the way out of town, we stopped in and met Michael. Affable and nice as could be even though he was filming an interview. Posed for pictures and thanked us for coming by. Menu is limited but will be expanded as they get their feet underneath them, according to Brian. Wings were good, nice sized, and wife had the grilled cheese which was very good. Saw some burgers go by and they looked appealing also. Beers were very good. The pineapple-mango experimental was excellent and went well with our food. A nice variety of lagers, ales and IPAs with about 8 0r 12 on tap, a sour or 2 and a stout. It seems they do a good bit of experimenting and it's a good idea to ask your server what they're playing with that day. All the staff were friendly and accommodating. The surrounding area was neat and clean, sitting alongside a nice stream and across the street from the Police station and City Hall. Private parking onsite and plenty of public parking. Birthplace of Country Music Museum is an easy walk (about a block) and well worth seeing. I was going to give them 4 stars as they have a bit of room to grow but I gave them 5 just because of what they have accomplished in a very short period of time. read more

I was in town for the dirt race and we had a rainy Friday afternoon to go and experience downtown Bristol with all of the on track activities being cancelled. Michael Waltrip Brewing was our first and most enjoyable stop - we stayed and tried a variety of really high quality beers. It was also really cool to meet Michael Waltrip who happened to be there that afternoon talking to guests - definitely did not expect that and was super impressed with how approachable he is. Beautifully restored building - the 2nd floor taproom was remarkable, would be great for hosting events of 75ish people. Service staff was a little spread thin, my guess is that because of the rain, they weren't prepared to have a full house on a Friday afternoon. Despite the chaos, they were all kind and helpful. (Review from 2022 that I found in my drafts that never got posted) Food was so salty I don't know how anyone eats here, or maybe that's the point so you drink more beer?? Family that tried the beer wasn't a fan either which just added to the disappointment of one of the cans being factory imperfect. One of the cans in the 6-pack wasn't sealed properly in the body portion, can was only half full and smelled sour like vinegar when inspecting why it sounded weird (can crackled when I checked to make sure it hadn't froze by being pushed to the back of the fridge, rest of cans were not frozen). There was no beer/dampness in the bag it was transported in or in the fridge. My order was employee packed so not a case of "I should've noticed". I also asked for something off my food order and after receiving my take out order and confirming with the bartender the request, he took it back to check, was gone an unusually long amount of time to return and "confirm" that yes my special request was not put on the dinner. All I can say is it was an upsetting disappointment. The bartender, other than the damaged can, was extremely kind, helpful, and tried to be accommodating to his fullest capacity. I really appreciated it and if not an owner (didn't appear to be according to their website) hopefully his efforts are applauded. read more

What a great way to kick off my teammates and my stay here in Bristol for the Dirt Nationals at the speedway. We had heard about this place and wanted to give it a try since we are all MW fans and of course we enjoy good beer. Greeted very warmly upon entering and seated promptly. Our waitress was quick with our drink orders and was very helpful with our questions. The food menu is short and sweet which is perfect for this establishment as it showcases the fine craft beers while not overwhelming you with a thousand different food options. The food we ordered was very good. I personally recommend the "O" burger with the fried green tomatoes on it. Mine was perfectly cooked to medium and extremely flavorful. The wings were very good as well with a good amount of zing to them without being outrageous. The last item my group ordered was the grilled cheese. It was very good as well and surprisingly filling and flavorful and made on two slices of very good bread (I forgot to ask them what brand bread they use). Now to the good stuff: the beer... The porter is very smooth and deliciously chocolaty. I highly recommend it. The blackberry cider, while not made by MWB is still a locally produced product and was very good. The other beers we had at our table where all fresh and excellent quality. Service was okay but not much you can do when it takes two hours and they just say "Sorry, we don't know how long." When food did come out the first person had theirs 15 minutes before the last person and I am being nice. Our last person get their food 30 minutes later and it was a chicken sandwich! We went for a New Year Eve's concert with Tim Dugger. We arrived early to watch some college football games. There were plenty of televisions everywhere. The staff was very attentive and friendly. My dinner companions ordered wings, they were very small wings. I ordered a burger. My burger was fine, also small and nothing special. The dry rub wings were way too salty, my husband couldn't even finish them. I ordered my burger without the bun and without the fries, the server said "I can put some cheese on it." I said "Yes, that's perfect thank you." Although, I was not offered a choice of cheese, I received American cheese. That's fine...whatever. It sounded as though it was in place of the fries since I declined to pay $3.00 for a side salad substitute. I was ultimately charged $14.95 for a burger patty, lettuce, a tomato slice, two rings of onion and a pickle chip. The menu showed $13.95 for the Bristol Baby Burger which normally includes BBQ sauce, which the server recommended when she said she would just let them know to leave off the BBQ sauce, bun and side of fries. I was charged $14.95 which was $1.00 over the price shown on the menu PLUS I was charged another $1.50 for the cheese!! When we brought this to the attention of our server (she was a very good server) she took the check back to the manager (I guess) to have it fixed. The new check showed the SAME EXACT price. We paid it, tipped well, and will NEVER RETURN. read more
