**July 2026: Sunday Afternoon Visit** During my SDCC weekend, I walked by Michaela's Meals in the Gaslamp Quarter, which was right between my hotel and the convention center. This shop was just one street down from Ralphs and Vitality Tap so it was conveniently located. On Sunday afternoon, I noticed the space was open for business, so I popped in to check it out. It's a small spot with a staff member, a fridge full of pre-made meals, a little bar area with two stools, a cold water pitcher, and a microwave. The main business model is a weekly subscription, but I learned that the owner also keeps leftovers in the fridge for grab-and-go customers on Wednesdays and Sundays from 1:30-5 p.m. They also run a "buy 4 get 1 free" and "buy 8 get 2 free" promotion, which makes the meals an even better value. I assumed she makes an abundance and sells those for $10 a meal, but since I stopped by close to closing, I got mine for $5 each. I grabbed two to try because the meals looked very nutrition-focused and considering I ate basically garbage throughout Comic Con it was a smart choice to fuel up with real food. I tried a Mediterranean chicken over yellow rice and zucchini, as well as a ground hamburger-style sloppy joe-type meal. The food definitely leans healthy, and considering how inconvenient it is to eat well at SDCC, this was a great find. Since she has Wednesday and Sunday pickups, I'm now contemplating doing a preview-night (Wednesday) pickup for a couple of meals on my next visit. Michaela's Meals has solved my problem of trying to eat healthy dinners during the week. i've been getting 5 meals delivered on sunday for a month now and have really liked every meal i've ordered so far. they heat up easy, are perfectly portioned (with the ability to size up on certain meals for extra protein), and made with fresh and healthy ingredients. they also stay perfectly fresh in the fridge for the entire week. i was really skeptical before getting my first order but the dishes really taste great...definitely better than anything i could make during the week with limited time. highly recommend it! read more

I used Michaela's for BB and myself for several months towrad the latter half of 2024. They always had a great selection to choose from every week, always delivered with care in an insulated bag with icepacks, also using text notifications with photos to let you know the food had been delivered. Getting food delivered with the last company we used was a nightmare. Not so with Michaela's! The food was fresh, made with care, and tasted good. Customer service is locally based, efficient, friendly, and always responded in a timely manner. At one time we were doing 20 meals a week, and only experienced a mix up once which they were quick to address. I like that they are a local small mom and pops business and a passion project which the owner takes seriously. I've tried a couple of San Diego based meal prep companies and Michaela's is the only one that I stuck with long term. Would recommend you try them out if you are looking for meal prep. read more

I am obsessed. I have been eating Michaela's Meals for several months and I am constantly surprised by the flavor, taste, variety and quality. I've never experienced a meal prep service quick like this! There dishes taste better than majority of restaurants. Everything must be made from scratch because the quality is so impressive. You would think it came fresh out of your own kitchen, that's how good it is even after being refrigerated. I constantly question the macros and nutritional info because being this healthy has never tasted so good. On top of that, the meals are filling! I'm a new customer and I'm really enjoying these meals! They are healthy and taste great! I'm not a cook so this helps me eat well without having to do so. I also love that they deliver. I've had a few deliveries now with no issues. I frequently had issues with delivery from DoorDash and those other places. This is my 3rd week and I absolutely love the service. I'm a single mom in the military and so low on time and energy to make meals every day so this place is a godsend for me. They also deliver and offer curbside pickup Wednesdays and Sundays. On my duty days they were more than willing to let me pick up after I got off. Every staff member I have spoken to are so accommodating and excellent. I tried once and have been hooked ever since. They offer meals for different diet types and the prices are so reasonable. I like they have a great variety so you don't feel like you're eating the same thing all the time. The cinnamon roll pancakes are so good, didn't need any syrup on them. I've been ordering Michaela's Meals for about 6 weeks now and it's the best decision I've made to be healthy, meal portions and meal prepping . Honestly ordering meals have saved so much food waste. The meals is are good portions, if your dieting, it's even enough for two people along with a side salad. My mom and I like not having to cook during a busy work week . The food is always promptly delivered in a contactless manner and notification is sent by a very friendly text message from someone who actually responds. The food is a good portion and always healthy. The veggies are, for the most part, perfectly done... I hate carrots, but I eat Michaela's carrots... So that says something, right there! Everything is consistently delicious and delivery is timely. Any issues you may have are promptly resolved by a quick email which actually receives a personal reply (by a human!!!). Nicely done! They update the menu with a few different items each week. If I had one "would be nice", it would be to keep various different foods in rotation. Sometimes the menu can feel a little static if you're not into the one or two new items that get added. We have ordered many of these meals in the past couple of months, and are extremely satisfied. The food is so much fresher and healthier than other meal services we've tried. They are so good that we are cooking and eating out less, and feel that we are eating better. We are also pleased with the minimal environmental impact. There is only one recyclable container with each meal, and the insulated bag and ice packs can be placed outside for pickup when the next meals are delivered. You support a local business, the food is amazing, it's convenient, healthy, you know what you're getting, and for a good price. We eat michaelas for lunches every day. We are busy working during the week so It's nice to have something tasty, convenient, healthy, and not have to think about ordering takeout or cooking. I do a meal subscription and they let me send in my specific requests each week and Shayne is always quick to confirm my order. We get a 10 meal subscription to supplement my cooking and shopping for the week.
