Hugely popular gourmet food trucks have a reputation for great food at low costs and are a ubiquitous part of downtown life in San Diego. I went to gourmet food truck event before a play last night to try them out first hand. It was an hour before showtime when I ordered. No food was coming out of the truck and the cook kept telling people that the food would be out in 10 minutes. Right before showtime a huge crowd of unhappy people were demanding their money back. The taco guy who had been telling my that my vegetarian tacos were coming right out finally says, do you eat fish to me. I took the fish tacos since I had been saving my appetite all day and needed something to eat, but now I wish that I did not. It was some stinky smoked marlin rolled taco and as I sit here in the morning the smell still lingers. I am being nice bygiving them 3 stars because they had a new cook and fryer problems. These guys came to our apartment complex last week. I tried the lobster and crab tacos. The sauces are awesome and just the right amount of spicey. The size of lobster and crab were generous. I thought the crab tasted like imitation crab meat, but I'm a native Marylander, so it's hard to impress me if its not a Maryland crab! Overall very tasty tacos!! Service was great. I ordered slightly over 40 min ago. I am sitting on a hill still waiting for my order. Even if the food is acceptable, let alone great, the complete disorder and lack of experience has held up food for everyone. The line is small.. Everything I could want from a rolled taco was found in the brisket beef rolled tacos topped with cabbage, avocado salsa, chipotle Mexican farmer's cream and chile infused cotija cheese (aka topping OP. 1). The tortillas were perfectly crispy, the beef was flavorful and the topping was a perfect mix of crunchiness, creaminess, flavor and heat. The chile infused cotija was phenomenal. I love heat and it packed a powerful punch! I hope to try the chicken version soon! read more

Rolling Taco rolled up into our parking lot at work today. SInce I am busy today (but not busy enough to skip the chance to write a yelp review!) I decided to try it out and eat at my desk. They had a bunch of items on their menu but the bearded dude announced that they don't have any beef, or tortillas and would only serve two items, mole and pinapple tacos. This was at 11:55 AM, they had just setup, so they didn't even show up with ingrediants for most of their menu Ok fine, whatever. Give me some fo those pineapple tacos I guess. The Good: Umm, it showed up at my work so I didnt' have to go somewhere. Also the little bit of vegintarian food that I got for $7.50 was decent tasting. The Bad: As I mentioend, they didn't have any ingrediants so we only had access to a very limited menu. Also, after I ordered (there was no body in front of me but I had to wait a couple min for the dude to take my order), the truck went eerily silent for a couple minutes. I could help but think "are they just standing in there staring at each other?" "I wonder if they are just going to pull some old tacos from yesterday out of the fridge and nuke em at the last second..." Anyway eventually I heard cooking noises and about a minute after that my tacos were up. Total wait about 10 minutes, which seems really long to me since my order was so simple and there was no line. The Ugly: LIstening to the bearded dude trying to explain what "mole" is to a lady from China was ugly. He kept saying "it's amazing" and "if you like a rich hearty sauce, you'll love it." In general, I'm not a fan of mole (although I do like the way they do it at Luche Libra) and it was painful to listen to him convince her to order it without offering a sample or even a decent description. Overall, this truck delivered what I have some to expect from these nouveau food trucks. Catchy names for "fusion" food that tastes decent, a flashy paint job on the truck, longer than you'd expect wait times, overpriced small portions, and an awkward ordering experience. read more

Local - Beaner burrito (veggie) - *** 3/5*** don't get me wrong, I still enjoyed this burrito a lot bc the staff was SUPER NICE, they were parked right at the courtyard, and had a cool menu but it was just TOO BEANY! The burrito was a soy chorizo bean burrito and the reason it gets a 3 is because you couldn't decipher between the beans and the soyrizo. It was all mashed together and all you could taste were BEANS ON BEANS ON BEANS The tortilla was also too thick so it made the meal way too heavy for me. I WILL NEVER ORDER FROM THEM AGAIN!!! They visited the Mira Mesa area today and I though why not. When I asked for their Kobi burrito and the guy said hold on and then he comes back and says, "We're out. Next" and walked off. He didn't even ask if I wanted something else. When he came back and saw me still there he said, "Yes" with an attitude that told me he did not want to be there. I ordered the 5 beef briquette rolled tacos. He tossed me number and said "your 13." It took them 20 minutes to get me my food as they served people after me. When I got my food I could see they gave me way over cooked tacos. When I tried to get them to redo my order he just blew me off. When I asked for a refund he said, "All sales final." Like I said i will never make the mistake of visiting them again. I am so glad I'm a spontaneous person because otherwise I would have never had the best roll tacos of my entire life! My daughter Briana recently found your website and Facebook page and decided to hire your services for her wedding in Oceanside. To be honest, the thought of having a "taco truck" didn't seem appropriate for a wedding. After a brief conversation with her, we agreed. The truck arrived 30 minutes early as promised and began to serve the guests. The food was great and it was a lot better the expected, the staff was very nice and professional with our guests and wedding party. Even after a brief disagreement with the Harbor Police, your staff remained attentive to our guests and moved thing along with great ease and professionalism...........it was delicious and more then fairly priced. The food truck came to our complex today. Only one person is preparing the food and taking orders. Each order took 30 minutes. By the time I got in line for my order, the guy runs out of meat for the burrito and the rolled tacos! Really!?? You only have these two meat items on your menu and you don't have enough meat! This truck was at the local shopping center on food truck night. There was one guy doing everything, taking orders, making orders, calling out the orders. I didn't realize this at first, but since I had to stand 30+ minutes waiting for my food, I did take note. I also noted that he wasn't taking his gloves on and off and handling money and credit cards with his gloved hands and then going back to make the food with the same gloves on. EWWWW. This truck came to my place of work for our foundation event today, and they were amazing. It was a little slow, but people were so excited with the new treat and they were saying that next week should be even better. I had the Lobster tacos-OMG-nice big and delicious pieces of meat. I do not like anything spicy-but this was perfect. Loved the melt in your mouth feeling!!! My co worker said the koji fornia burrito was to die for as well! Bad experience! Food is mediocre at best. I ordered the beaner burrito. How much more simple can it get than... tortilla, beans cheese and jalapenos? I waited over 30 mins for my order. Mind you, I'm at work running away from my desk to grab something quick. While waiting i watched them screw up 2 orders in front of me. And they ran out of main ingredients before i placed my order. However, before presenting the lack of ingredients I watched 3 people attempt to order those dishes, at that point the person taking the order informed them. Maybe itd be a good idea to start the order off by saying "hello, before you place your order we ran out of ...." Just basic customer service stuff. All around Bad! Sorry :( read more

The 3 beef brisket rolled tacos was a great snack to start the night. The cabbage, queso fresco and sauce add a great taste and crunchy texture to the plate. There was only one person handling the orders and cooking so maybe an extra employee could make orders a bit quicker. However, I'm eager to try the other menu items from this truck! read more
