I have used them several times and always been very pleased with the results and with the service I receive, whether I need complete matting and framing or just a wire or other way to hang existing work. By far one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever dealt with. The manager Kip was extremely rude and went out of his was to make sure we didn't have the opportunity to explain why we were entitled to, at minimum, a partial refund. We went into the store the night prior asking for our balloons to be completed by an agreed upon time, by their own staff members, for the next morning. Nothing was completed upon arrival, and they would not issue any sort of refund. In fact he continuously just said "no" the entire time. No refund, no balloons and a huge waste of time. He was overly aggressive and lacked even an ounce of problem solving skills. Highly suggest going somewhere else. read more

I should really give a ZERO, but I can't. Every time I go there, they obviously don't want to do their job at checkout, as they act like you're inconveniencing their day. They rudely point to the self-check, and god help me if I have a store credit or a gift card to redeem! Because EVERY time, I have to interrupt her day anyway to have her come help me, but instead of just taking care of it like most people would, she just stands there and repeats what I already messed up and walks away! Guess what. The gift card didn't get redeemed, and I had to have a SECOND rude woman come over anyway! Every. Time! We had to re-scan everything back into the system, re-do the credit and gift card redemption, and another guess what? "Oh, you already used the store credit and we can't recover that". I've shopped here for years. I am an artist and buy loads of frames. Today I found that the middle frame in a package of 3 was broken(it was under protection so I didn't see it when I took the 1st frame out). I had already used the first one and it went to a customer with a painting in it. A woman claiming to be the manager, Alexis or Alexa, told me that since I no longer had all three frames, there was nothing she could do. I called customer care and they gave me more than I was asking for (I was initially only asking for a partial credit). They also told me that the manager absolutely had the authority to have made this right, which I already knew having been in retail management. She could have saved me and Michael's customer care the headache if she had only done her job. Auburn needs to find a new manager! read more

(Bell Rd), was my Christmas angel this year. She saw me looking a bit lost in the Christmas tree options and came and was so personable and helped me select, buy (with a great discount) and carry my 7' flocked tree out to my car. She was just the BEST and made my Christmas home decor situation this year. I will use this tree for many years, and it will remind me of her kind and personable, helpful, excellent help! Poor Customer Service. Went in to get some pictures framed. Long story short, it was about $1000 job. They were weeks late, poorly done. I had to have them redo them. Then they made the backing of the pictures so bulky and deformed that the pics stick out about 2 inches from the wall. After several go arounds, redos, and eventually a discussion with some manager, there was no effort made to apologize and repair the experience. Until we demanded some concession for the unprofessional experience and poor outcomes, they finally made a minimal capitulation. Very disappointed. Very poorly done. Poor reflection on the Michael's brand. read more

UPDATE... Today I finally received my pictures. One looks great the other still has ripples all the way down the silk that you couldn't see in the bright light of the store. The store manager Kip refunded half my money back because of all my problems. The mats and frames are lovely. I placed an order for two silk pictures to be framed on September 24. These were over 65 years old and very sentimental to my family. The first employee Damien was helping with the order and was new and couldn't figure out how to place the order so he brought in the manager from that department. I didn't have a problem with that, everybody needs to learn. What I had a problem with was that the order process was so difficult taking over an hour and a half. At the end of my $590 purchase I was told it would take two weeks on my receipt but from the manager maybe a week. Three weeks later I still hadn't heard anything so I called to check and was told they would need a few more days. A week later they still were not ready and was given the runaround again. A week later I called and spoke to the department manager and was told they were short staffed from people quitting and needed some more time. My next call Damian answered told me one of the frame were damaged and that it would take a few more weeks. When I expressed my dissatisfaction and that I felt I was not given honest answers each time I called he hung up on me. Not shortly after I got a phone call that now one of the mats was ordered incorrectly and that that would take some time. This evening I called to see if they were ready and was told yes they were and that he was just wrapping them up. I drove 30 minutes each way to pick them up and when I arrived they were both rippled. One of the frames was completely dirty on the inside of the glass with lots of dust on the matting. I was told to give them one more day, two tops. I never said a word about my dissatisfaction to the employee I said no problem I will see you tomorrow or Monday. I walked up to the front of the store and asked to speak to the manager because I felt waiting a month and a half for something that was supposed to take two weeks was unacceptable. As I was speaking to her I let her know about all the issues I had and I let her know one of the employees hung up on me but I never mentioned their name or if it was a male or a female. I told her I didn't want to get that person in trouble. As I was speaking to her Damien decided to walk up front and let her know that he hung up on me because he was upset and that I knew why and walked away. I explain to her that I thought that was completely unprofessional and she said she would deal with it. So here we are November 5 and I'm still waiting for an order that was placed on September 24. I would not recommend ordering custom framing from the store until they can hire more employees or competent employees. read more

Having a Michaels in town less than a mile away is wonderful and dangerous! lol This location is amazing! The store is always clean and well organized. I find what I need every time, as well as things I never knew I needed. lol If they are out of something, they are great about guiding your through the helpful app so you can order online for in-store pickup. The staff is fantastic. The cashiers are attentive and happy and one of the managers, Carly, is so genuine and helpful. She had some great ideas for wreath making and holiday crafts. It's so nice to have someone who is knowledgable and not just there for a paycheck. I've been to many Micheals in a few states, but this is my favorite hands down. Nice staff, but never seem to be staffed enough. Tonight, for example, they only had one large uncut mat white mat board with a crease in it, unwrapped. Their mat boards are always beat up, and even though there were supposed to have 11 on hand, there wete no more on the shelf. Apparently only the framer could check inventory, and she was busy with someone else. When she was free she had to get someone else to help. They checked the back and brought out one that was too large and beat up on the sides. University Art in Sac does not have this problem. I took the first one and will only be able to use half of it. No offer was made to discount it, even after all the waiting etc. Ugh! read more

The masked woman that checked me out was very kind, while the young lady next to her was wearing a politically affiliated mask over her mouth only. I am 7 months pregnant and was horrified I may be forced into having her check me out. I was incredibly uncomfortable standing in line awaiting an awkward conversation and quietly praying she would not be the next available checker. I luckily got the aforementioned cashier who was very polite and helpful when my rewards account did not go through. When I first arrived to the counter, she kindly asked how my experience was to which I replied, "Great, except your coworker is not appropriately wearing her mask. You may want to let her know it is meant to cover her nose as well." To which she said something to the effect of, "Oh, okay." It was never mentioned again nor did she allude to asking the young lady to rearrange her mask. I normally love shopping at Michael's. I appreciate the quality and selection of products. However, I am simply not comfortable shopping at a store that puts not only my health at risk, but subsequently that of my family and ultimately my entire community. read more

Mr. Kip, not only did he think I was stealing because I dropped a pen and forecully made me had him the rest of the pens I was planning on buying, but yelled at me to empty my pockets. Grabbed my arm and told me to get the "hell" out of the store or he would call the cops. Not only did he assume that I was stealing from a store that I used to love shopping in, but he was incredibly unprofessional and rude. Interesting that he didn't make my husband empty his pockets.... We will never shop there again. Which is unfortunate. Seeing as it's the only craft store in town. Hey....anybody who complains about this store, head down to the Roseville or Citrus Heights locations to set you straight and then come on back and appreciate you have this quiet, clean, well stocked store right in your backyard! I have never seen an associate working who didn't have a smile on their face. I've even witnessed an associate in the store on their off hours shopping and they too were willing to step in to help a customer with a question (tell me THAT would happen elsewhere down the valley!) My only complaint - and this is for all Michael's regardless of location - is to just have more cashiers. The lines can be long, but I no that's not on the associates, thats corporate's fault. Now don't go telling every crafter you know about this quiet Michaels, I want to keep this good thing going! read more

I'd take the bad reviews with a grain of salt. A lot of people only leave reviews when their angry. I've shopped here for almost 15 years mostly getting art framed and yes, sometimes its a little slow but the prices are very fair and the sales are amazing. I've never had a bad experience with any of the employees. The two ladies that helped me tonight could not have been nicer. So do your local shops a favor and also leave a review when you have good things to say and not just when you are upset. One bad experience doesn't define a stores overall performance. I'm just grateful we even have a Michaels in town. I hear the ones in Roseville and Rocklin are a nightmare compared to this one. The Auburn Michaels is one of those stores that you can't accomplish the same things online and would be very frustrating if they closed down from a few bad reviews overshadowing years of quality service and great prices. This place has bottomed out. Absolutely Zero seed beads, but if you have kids, don't worry, they have thousands of pony beads. They're big showcase is some hideous fall decor ( if you can call it that)! I did not see any woodcraft isle either. The store is a dump. read more

Elianna the girl with pink hair glasses and braces gave me a hard time at the cash register when there internet was acting slow my app was responding a little slow instead of her being patient she hurry up put my money and her drawer and by that time I was able to pull up my coupons (because who wants to spend 89.99 when I could have gotten 70% off my total ) I show her and she responds well it's too late , your going to have to return all the items and stand in line all over again . read more

This is a great craft store. The staff are super helpful and they have most of the products you would need. I recently ordered online for in store pick up. I called ahead and bc both my kids were sleeping in the car the manager met me outside at my car. Totally going above and beyond. During one of the recent power outages I was there when a different manager received a call from a customer asking if they were open. When she responded they were the customer proceeded to ask her about other stores in the shopping complex and the manager actually went outside and checked for her. Totally above and beyond! I also had a good experience with the framing department. Another advantage of this store over others is the prices are cheaper compared to Ben Franklin for examlle. I'd totally recommend. read more

Just okay. Great if you need some last minute supplies, but don't always expect them to have what you need. Twice I have needed something super simple and they did not carry it. 1. Wedding stickers in the summer. Really? 2. Baby stickers in October of last year. Nope! They should ditch the fake flower section and bring in more variety. I am new to the Auburn area and needing a craft store I found the Michaels convenient to get to. I have been there numerous times in the past few months. Each time the experience has been great because of the people. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Most recently when I was in a hurry - and I'm sure it showed - I was able to catch one of the staff as she was heading to teach a class and asked her where an item was. Without skipping a beat she smiled and pointed me in the right direction all the while giving directions to one of the other staff following her. The men and women working the check-out counter have always been helpful to make sure I'm getting my coupon discounts via my phone. Every time I walk out of the place I can't help but smile because they're just so darn nice and it makes my day just that much better. Auburn Michaels = great customer service! read more

The manager Kip, at least I think he should be the manager if he's not already, went above and beyond today to help me with a clearance item. The storage cart I was looking at was an open box and was marked down to 17.49 from 69.99. Of course I was a little skeptical so I put the cart in my shopping cart and headed towards the front of the store. I ran into said gentleman in the isle. I asked him if this was too good to be true. He said he thought it had all the parts but helped me sort thru all the pieces to make sure nothing was missing. It was a final sale so he helped make sure I wasn't going to be missing anything and not be able to return it. It was extremely helpful and very much appreciated. We've never had a problem with the Auburn Michaels Store. We've received prompt service and there are many crafty items to choose from. Their prices are good, but I still look to Amazon first. When I'm in Auburn and need supplies such as knitting tools, etc, Michaels is the store for me. Get the best and forget the rest. read more

Saw a great sale last night for Yarn but was exhausted so I came back the next day and they wouldn't honor their sale nor did they care to lose my sale. No signs up in their store to help guide what the current sales. You have to search online and then download the coupon to figure it out. Not user friendly and not customer service oriented! The store is new so I'm going to try and cut them a little slack but it really does annoy me when you have 2 people behind the counter 3 people waiting and only one girl serving customers while the other one cleans. Then I get really REALLY annoyed when there are 4 people - and at one point FIVE people - at the cash register and still only one poor girl serving the customers. What made it worse was one of the five was obviously a supervisor telling the others about her day while managing to completely blank out the line of customers waiting to be served. A couple of her staff could see we were starting to get annoyed but were obviously too under the thumb to speak up or attempt to ignore her droning on at them. It was only when I said something to the girl serving that she asked for assistance and then although someone extra came to help the others including the supervisor managed to scuttle like rats off a sinking ship without even acknowledging still that we were waiting! On the plus side it will be a useful place to have up here although the range of products is not as big as the Roseville store. I couldnt get all I needed but was able to stave off the drive down the hill for another week. Another plus was that the two members of staff in the frames department - although they didn't know the answer to my question tried hard to figure out the answer and when they couldn't told me when to come back and the name of the person I needed to talk to to get help. read more

The check-out counter (width) is way to small, most crafters have a cart full of items and the new counter top is only designed to accommodate a few items at a time, which ends up taking longer to complete large or medium check out order. Yes the store is clean as it should be it's new. read more
