    My yarn haul-my happy place.
    Dianne D.

I went in to buy some yarn that was buy one get one half price. When I got there several of the bins had a discount/clearance sticker on the bin. I hadn't bought yarn in quite awhile so I stocked up on all the discounted ones I would use. At the counter they were ringing up at the buy one get one 1/2 price. I explained the discount price. The cashier (unfortunately I didn't catch her name) called the manager who over rode the price of one color. Then the cashier went back to the sale price. I once again explained everything I had came out of a discount bin. The manage came up and said she wasn't over riding all I had. I asked her to walk back with me and showed her the skeins I had and the discount tags. She okayed the price. The whole transaction could have gone poorly. They could have refused to honor the price and they would have lost a customer. Instead they did the right thing and honored the price that was on the bin.

    $5 clearance candles

Frequent shopper at this store but will never shop here again due to the treatment we received from the manager Todd this morning. He's rude, acts bothered and treats the customers horrible. Today I was purchasing candles that I found on clearance for $5. Upon checking out the candles rung up at $34.99. We pointed out to the cashier the incorrect price. She called for Todd who was EXTREMELY RUDE, my daughter offered to show him a picture she took when she had went back and took while we were waiting for him to come to the front. When offering to show him the photo, he abruptly cut her off mid sentence and said he would go look for himself. After he checked, he yelled from the back to just give us the candles for $5 like we weren't correct. I called after leaving the store and asked Todd for his boss's name. His response...you can find that out by calling 1-800-Michael's. I asked again and he finally said Steve-no last name or anything. Management material Todd is NOT!!!

It's a store with a terrific selection of yarns at all different price points, it's a haven for knitters/crocheters of all skills. No matter what I'm working on, I can find help with a quick question from staff that are knowledgable AND friendly. If it's more involved, I can schedule a private tutorial. Or, they have fun classes as well. I've lost track of how many classes I've taken here -- all of them have stretched my knitting capabilities. On top of that, it's a beautifully laid-out store that sparks creativity. Yes, I might find some of the yarns for a couple dollars less online, but to see and hold those yarns and to sit at one of the tables to be in community with other knitters/crocheters and see what others are knitting cannot be replicated online. And... if you just want some great choices of yarn, you don't need help, or classes or want to knit in community -- you got that too!

I first started shopping here around 2010, then stepped away from knitting for quite a few years before recently returning. What stood out immediately was how welcoming the environment still felt. Being warmly welcomed back after such a long break genuinely meant something. Over the years, I have consistently noticed how knowledgeable and helpful the staff is. They are willing to answer questions, help troubleshoot patterns or projects, recommend yarn substitutions, and guide people toward classes or tools that fit their skill level. I have also witnessed many moments where customers came in trying to rescue a knitting "disaster," and the owner, staff, and even fellow customers jumped in to help. There is a real sense of community here that feels increasingly rare. The shop itself is comfortable and inviting, with a strong selection of yarns, books, tools, and classes ranging from beginner to advanced. It feels like a place designed not just to sell products, but to support people who enjoy fiber arts. The location is another plus. Street parking is usually manageable, there are coffee shops and restaurants nearby around 12th and Madison, and it is right along the RTD #10 bus route. Whether someone knits, crochets, needlepoints, or is completely new to fiber arts, The Lamb Shoppe seems to make a sincere effort to make everyone feel welcome.

The Yarn Along The Rockies pattern this year was a glitten pattern called "Angel Mitts". They are made out of Blue Sky Fiber's Brushed Suri Alpaca and Silk mix yarn. So they are super soft and warm and perfect as far as what I have been wanting to make ForEver. This pattern also has that same thing for the thumb (so you can unlock your phone without having to take the glitten off). So I got a skein of the BSF Brushed Suri pink skein for less than $20 and signed up for the class for $20. I started knitting my first pair in class (two at a time) and finished them the next day. The owner, Deb, taught the class. She has so many good ideas, and shares them openly and happily. At our second class, I went to learn more things and got more tips on cool things to do to prevent any holes where the thumb is joined to the palm part of the mitten. Or more recently, how to seam and overlap the top better and the best way to widen them for larger hands. It was so fun learning with others in the class too. Well if glittens aren't your thing, apparently alpaca socks are a dream to wear. And guess what, everything is not alpaca there since there are plenty of wool and other types of yarn, notions, etc. But it is where, if you are looking for alpaca (and even if you are not), I would definitely go to check them out.

There was no one at the register, but was a button that said push for service. I waited 5 minutes (pushing often). Finally when more people were behind me someone came. I made a complaint and got platitudes and doublespeak from store manager. The thing is they seldom have enough help, even when they are to be found. I often wait in a long line. I do paper crafting and needle arts (in addition to sewing) and the sections are pretty bare. I have always liked Joann better than their competition, but lately, the competition has done a better job on both service and selection.

I was originally near the Joann's in Lakewood Colorado. It was small, cramped, and always a disaster. A few years ago I moved to Parker and I loved this location. It was big. It was clean. It had stuff! Lately, though, it's become dirty, disorganized, and empty. It's a wonder when I buy online to pick up I often am told the item actually wasn't in stock. I most often frequent the yarn section. The yarn section is vast, because some yarn is on end caps, some yarn is in center isles, and some yarn is in boxes where ever, as well as in its regular place. Most of it is empty. I'm not sure if it's because there are mounds of yarn in bins they don't belong in or if it's because the shelves are just empty. Today I came across a shelf that was full of random yarn, but I think it's supposed to be Lion Brand Mandala. There was blanket yarn, Big Twist, Bernat, baby yarn, cotton, Christmas.... It was stuffed to brim with yarn that didn't belong there. I also had to use the bathroom. It's because of bathrooms like this one I hate using public restrooms. It doesn't look like it's been cleaned in a while, it smells that way, too. The white tile is so dingy it's turning black. The floors are cracked. There is more product on the floor than on the shelves. It's a pretty big disaster. Which is why I stopped shopping at the Joann's in Lakewood. I haven't been in that store in ten years or more. I'm not fond of customer care, either. Last time I found a Christmas pick that didn't have a price tag on it. The kid immediately looked at me and told me I couldn't buy it because he didn't have time to find the price for it. I was pretty angry and put out. Recently I ordered a bunch of yarn online. I got it all except for one. All I kept seeing was the the item was still in process. After about a month I was about ready to contact Joann's, but I decided to really dig and eventually found that the order had been cancelled not a peep from Joann's. I can see why Joann's is fading. Don't treat customers well, can't buy online to pick up, can't buy to ship, and the store looks like a mini tornado ripped through it. I thinks it's time to just let go of Joann's. I'll buy from Hobbii, across the pond, before O step foot in Joann's again. I'm sorry to say it, but I'd rather go where I am appreciated and have lots of wonderful yarns to choose from and I'm sure to actually get.
