I have heard so much about how Michaels has a huge fabric section, now that JoAnn's closed. Supposedly they even acquired some of JoAnn's inventory. So I finally got there and was surprised ( not in a good way), by what I found. They had one small sewing aisle. Each shelf had barely anything on it. And the material they had was not good. In fact the entire store seemed thrown together. What a disappointment to the sewing community! Shame on Michaels for false advertising! read more

Employees are very nice and helpful. But some of the customers are horrible. People need to smart up and get their heads out of their phones. Customers need to stop asking employees where is this and look for themselves it's a big store and they have nice things to look at. People also need be to considerate and take their carts out when they finish shopping. And customers need to stop saying "I am going to call corporate and have you fired". These employees put up with a lot of crap from people and people need to stop asking employees to hold their hands when shopping. And that goes for every department stores. I really dislike negative reviews. But today is about customer service and caring. Dave and I went to Michael's with a picture that he wanted framed. While I enjoyed walking through the store and all the specials they have, we didn't have a positive experience. We had to wait a little while in the framing department and that wasn't a problem. It would have been nice if we got at least an acknowledgment from the staff member. Like "folks I'll be with you as soon as I can". Nothing until after the other customers left. So instead of having this picture professionally framed, he took David to the ready made frames. Not that this is a bad thing, but he just wasn't interested in making that sale. We were left with less than a lackluster feeling. This was too bad because Dave's brother sent him this mixed media painting where he won first place for Dave's 75th birthday. So even though I bought a lot of little Chanukah and stocking stuffers that were adorable, I wouldn't come back to have anything framed there. read more

Mom needed a picture frame and she determined that the prices at Michaels were better than the other big box stores. This is still a huge store and they have TONS of crafting supplies. Back in the back, we found the frames and they were on sale, 50% off. Awesome! At the register, no worries. It all rang up quick and fast. Our cashier was wearing her mask though I'm not sure why she was the only one not behind a plexiglass partition. Odd, but we kept our distance. I needed glass replaced for a print that had fallen off the wall. After trying a glass location a friend suggested Michaels. They happily said it could be done but while I was in there I also decided to get it reframed. I was shown how it would look on the computer. Can't wait for finished product! Michaels has great supplies in most areas but I find the paper for scrapbooking etc., is extremely limited. I suggest that you also use your phone and download coupons. Today I went into Michaels on Pine Island Road to see about using a 70% off coupon for custom framing for one picture. A fairly good sized picture, but with 70% off thought it would be reasonable. Was I ever surprised when the price went up to over $900 to come down to $340+! This was for a new frame and new non-glare glass! The salesman told me it was the glass that brought up the cost! I told the salesman, I would have to shop ground. Our next stop was 50% Off Framing on Pine Island Road, same new frame and non-glare glass for less than a hundred dollars! And it will be ready in about a week! I will never go to Michaels again for custom framing when you can get a better deal at the Custom Framing shops! read more

I don't think I've ever been here before, however we are doing costumes this year homemade and I needed ribbon and a sewing kit. I have a 2.5 year old who was getting fussy. I found the ribbon but could not find a simple sewing kit. I walked around the store about 3-4 times with no luck. I finally catch an employee, I said excuse me I'm looking for a sewing kit, I've probably passed it several times, can you please point me in the right direction? Her response was........ it's in the sewing section.... ‍ thanks captain obvious. I walked around looking for someone else's while still looking for the sewing kit. Not one other employee in the store. So we left. I honestly laughed I couldn't believe how utterly ridiculous the response was. Never again. read more
