I've had to make several trips to this location lately, as I have had lots of crafty-type situations arise. First, my daughter needed supplies to decorate her graduation cap with. Then, I needed to make a poster board/collage of pictures for her graduation open house. I returned to get a helium tank for balloons for that same open house. Lastly, I purchased a bunch of supplies to start scrapbooking. On each visit, I have been able to find exactly what I needed and the staff is always perky and helpful. Unfortunately, the helium tank that I purchased failed me on the day of my event, so I called the store to inquire about returning the tank. Wendy, who I believe is a manager, listened to my issue and told me that they would take it back and provide me with a refund. I appreciated her not giving me a hassle; the return of a defective helium tank could be viewed as someone trying to get over, but she took my word for it and the return process was quick and easy. I used the money to purchase more scrapbooking supplies! I'm sure I'll be back soon. read more

I have used Michaels for years and I've spent thousands of dollars on framing. Only recently have I experienced less craftsmanship and poor attitude on the part of the young lady working behind the counter. Perhaps it's due to what I was having framed, (Military and police memorabilia, badges, awards etc.) I was very polite on each visit and went out of my way to engage meaningful conversation, but was met with rude responses, scowl face and a clear unwillingness to do business with me. Because I made a true effort to be polite every time, I can only assume this young lady was not the right fit for the position. On one visit, she scolded me for not responding to their pick-up-order call. No message was left and my phone thought it was spam. Explaining this met with further rudeness. The second encounter she refused to work with my item to redo it, until I broke it out of the existing frame myself. Glass shattered everywhere and she offered nothing to assist in clean up. My third time I called ahead to see if this project was completed early and if I missed a call like before. Again, very rudely I was told it wouldn't be ready until the due date. I arrived to pick up the item on the due date only to learn she was just starting to work on the item. Now past due I still have not received a response referring to its completion. This young lady has no customer service skills and has stopped me from submitting my next project. I will not shop Michaels again as long as she is employed in their framing shop. I am so pleased to post my first "Covid" era post. I feel I have to actually. I had the most wonderful experience today with this Michaels location (Carmel/Westfield). I ordered online for curbside pick up. I ordered this morning and this store filled my order quickly less a couple items not in stock. (I ordered those at the 82nd street location and picked up just before they closed today at 6:00 p.m.). After I placed my orders satisfying everything on my list I decided to shop for a jigsaw puzzle. I found one but couldn't order it because of "limited quantities". So, I called the store and a lady answered my phone with the proper prompt and I asked her to see if they had the puzzle I wanted. She said she was happy to check but let me know it would take her a bit of time - I said no problem of course. She came back a bit later and said it was on clearance and she was not able to find it. I asked if she could look in the regular priced puzzle section and see if there was anything in a similar style that I might like. She willingly did it! She came back saying the only thing she was able to find in a similar style was a Charles Wysocki - I know his style as I used to own some of his work. I declined - but she was so nice to look and actually went way out of her way and truly looked for me. I wish I jotted her name down. Kudos to her & kudos to this location for excellent service during these difficult times! read more

We were visiting family in Westfield, IN. Where we live the closest Michaels is a two-hour drive. Shopping on line is not my choice. YOU have the BEST employee we've ever had. DEE is a ball of energy. She was the only cashier that day. She was training her manage -who hasn't worked checking customers purchases. DEE had people returning items - people in self-check out confused - she had to keep trying to help her manager check people out. She was in 4 places at one time. All this time she never lost her cool. She kept smiling - working fast - keeping all of the customers in line and at her register in eye contact and kept working working working - We think Dee needs Michaels recognition. They need to THANK HER. We might have walk out - not buying our items if any other cashier might have been there. read more

I seldom find the staff helpful at this location, but today I did. The clerk walked me over to where I needed to be and she was very friendly. They did not have what I was looking for but they did have lot if interesting supplies and holiday decor. Most of the supplies come from China. With coupons or sales, the prices are reasonable. I don't like that I had to join their club to get the coupons now as there is frequent email. The wreathes and centerpieces that are offered at this location are awesome but tend to be pricey. The parking lot is a bear to get in and out off and you risk your life walking across traffic to enter the store. read more

Great experience at Michaels! I went to get ONE thing and ended up with 4 things in my hands and overheating from a hot coat. A friendly employee, with a careful of of merchandise to put back, noticed what had to be desperation in my eyes and asked if she could help. I said I was hoping that was an empty cart. She proceeded to empty that cart right then and there for me, without any hesitation. It was great and she saved the day. I was able to pile my stuff in there, take my coat off, and buy a few more things. Win win! read more

Good for occasional shopping. Website said they are a UPS pickup location, and open on Sunday. Arrived, no signs. Asked two employees, they had no idea. Told to go to register. Waited in line. Cashier wasn't sure when my package would be picked up. Ok. Cashier started using a handheld device to process, didn't work. Got another, access issue?? Radioed a manager, they didn't know. Half-hour after arriving, told to go to the UPS location across the street (which was closed). Do better. read more

I recently found myself running to every Michael's store in the Indy metro area looking for a specific item, so this review should serve to compare those 6 locations. A little difficult to get here, but not impressed with the selection this time. Probably one of the less spectacular locations in the Indy metro area, especially being so close to two of the others. Everything about the store just felt a little too cluttered compared to the others. Didn't run into any employees either on my trip through the store looking for a specific item, so can't comment on their friendliness or helpfulness - just their unavailability. For me it wasn't worth the trip up here - although if you're a north sider, you should be able to find what you need between this location, Castleton, and 86th Street. Not sure if this one would be my top choice though. read more

Craft stores - a room filled with opportunity. Endless hours of paint-by-numbers, ceramics kits, cross stitching, florals, knitting, you name it. On this particular visit, I was looking for silk poinsettias and holiday tablecloths. It was fairly easy to find what I was looking for given that they were both holiday items. However, I found that this store seemed a bit on the clusterf*ck side of things. I was surprised how overpacked the store was and that it made me less likely to linger. Maybe it was part of the holiday transition or too much holiday stock on hand? The staff was friendly and everything else did the trick during my visit. I imagine it was the combination of too much clutter and lack of natural light that through me off. One more note, I enjoyed that they are only a few doors down from Aldi's. This Michaels was organized, clean, and well stocked. The reason it got a 3 star is because it only had 2 employees working. It's virtually impossible to ask someone for help without taking them away from the front of the store where the cash registers are located. It strikes me that a lot of the Michael's are cutting back on employees, as I find this problem in most stores I visit. The only exception to this is the Michaels in Castleton. read more

This is a "hit or miss" Michael's. Hit or miss with product being available or stocked. Hit or miss with being able to find an employee -- sometimes they are everywhere and I am able to get help, sometimes they are scarce and I have to go to the other side of the store to get help. I am an avid baker, and their baking department is always usually missing stuff. Or if it's not missing stuff it's just not stocked from on top of the aisle. It's annoying most of the time. There are some employees that I enjoy seeing at check out and they are really nice to me and my son, but I wish they were stocked more often. read more

Worst customer service ever. The man, who does the picture frames, is too busy talking about personal matters, then doing his job. Told me that I should go doing some shopping, because he has another person ahead of me, in addition to the one he is having a personal conversation with. Go to Hobby Lobby, where you can actually get some help. read more

The sales and clearance section here are amazing. Yeah, so I may have spent 2 full hours here the other day and it rekindled my love for scrapbooking. There is a lot of stuff in their limited amount of space and all the employees are super friendly. There's a whole lot in the strip mall to do too if you need to do lots of errands at once. Best buy, petsmart, office max, and michaels too :) Make sure you bring your coupons with you though as signs advertise mobile coupons but I have yet to see any. read more

They have some pretty decent sales & if you're watchful you can find several items that have been marked down quite a bit.. There is also a large selection of frames & with a lot more sizes than I've seen at places like Wal-Mart. read more

I went to the Michael's on 14670 U.S. 31 N. Carmel, IN to have an 8 x 24 canvas painting framed recently. After the 40% discount I was charged over $90.00. I expected a quality professional job to be done. The frame was okay, but the white backing which I was not told would be applied was done very poorly. It looks as if someone hurriedly slapped the backing on, folded it around the corners and attempted to trim around the edge and it turned out awful. Portions of the backing were hanging over edge of the frame and could be seen as you looked at the painting straight on. From the side the messy white backing could be easily seen. I had to peel much of it off and apply a black backing over that portion. I did much neater job than Michael's framing department did! Why didn't I take it back to have it redone? I live to far away and I didn't have time to run back and forth to that place. read more
