He asked for a review and I assumed that based on his level of service in sales, that would carry through the entire project. Unfortunately, that assumption was dead wrong. Tim mismeasured our flooring, and the installers did not have enough material to complete the job. They had to leave the project incomplete with our home in disarray while more flooring was ordered. They kept trying to make us wait until the end of the week. We did not want to wait while the house was in disarray. I guess to get us to stop talking, they said that the installers would be back on Wednesday. I took time off so I could be present during the install, only for them to call me 30 minutes before arrival to say they couldn't come until Saturday. The contractor also asked us to sign completion paperwork, but we refused to sign anything until the job was actually finished. While I felt bad knowing they couldn't get paid until paperwork was signed, that's between the contractor and Empire. It's not the customer's responsibility. The contractor should know not to ask people to sign papers for work that isn't finished. The contractor should also ask permission before they get too comfortable in a client's bathroom. None of them asked to sit on our toilets and handle their business. That is very unprofessional of them. We repeatedly tried to reach Tim the salesman to resolve the issue. When he finally returned our call, there was no sense of urgency, despite the inconvenience we were dealing with. What's most frustrating is the lack of accountability. Instead of owning the mistake and trying to make things right, Tim attempted to shift blame. This situation exists solely because of improper measuring and poor follow-up. I now understand why Empire has so many low ratings. I would not recommend them to anyone.

The young man came to do the floor in our laundry room. He worked by himself and started at 9:30 AM and worked until 8:30 PM. He was a nice young man, but he needed help. It was too much for him. He moved our utility wash basin to do the floor. When he put it back, it wasn't done right because when we turned the faucet on water poured all over the floor. We called empire the next day. They kept saying someone will get back to you. This went on for four days and now the fifth day, we still haven't heard from them. So it seems like we're going to have to pay a plumber to come in and repair what this young man did wrong. Because of this situation, we wanted to cancel the kitchen project. We had put down a deposit for both jobs. This company told us that the $1907 deposit will not be refunded in its entirety. They said that we will be refunded approx $527 of our money. My husband threatened to get a lawyer and and I threaten to write bad reviews on them if they did this. Later on that day, they made an exception. I want everyone to know what kind of company they are dealing with and what they think they are entitled to if you agree to have something done and then change your mind! You also should know that if something goes wrong they will not back you up! And then if you agree to have some work done and put a deposit down you will only get 1/4 of your money back. Beware of this company!!!!

Ron quickly filled me in regarding his 45 years experience in carpeting repair and then reviewed some photos I sent him to get a better picture of my situation. Ron quoted me $400 for the job, using the extra carpeting material I had on hand and offered to come the very next day, Friday mid morning. Ron gave me several assurances he'd handle whatever situation was present and not to give it any more worry. I appreciated his confidence and stated flexibility regarding the job conditions and his intention to just get it done. Ron is old school and not a Prima-donna. On a prompt arrival, Ron and his helper Brayson moved our kids bed out of the way, tore out the old carpeting, filthy tack strips, and treated the area with an odor neutralizer before jumping into the installation. The whole job took almost exactly 3 hours from arrival to departure. Ron & Brayson were true beasts in knocking out the job! I'm currently unclear whether this was a referral from Key Carpet to Lenderman Flooring, or Key Carpet employees themselves... but I'm a satisfied customer either way.

While planning to sell our home we were also in the process of moving 4,500 miles away. We had multiple businesses coming to our home on certain days to do their specific jobs (cleaning, staging, photographing, open house etc). I was told several times exactly how long the installation of the carpeting should take and based all other appointments on what I had been told. While on a trip I received a call telling me the installation would take another few days, which was simply unacceptable. Thankfully, Key Carpet was able to pull employees from another job to finish ours on time. This whole process caused an extreme amount of stress and headaches. While we were happy with how the new carpeting looked, it was definitely not the smoothest process.

Boy were we wrong! While the product itself (carpet) was great quality, everything else was a cluster you know what! First let me tell you, if you are going to call yourself a "flooring specialist" you should probably know every bit of every product, the process to install it and the process that goes forward once we sign up for a measure. They are absolutely working blindly in those stores. We went to 3 Lowes before settling on one. We were disgusted by how ignorant all the salesmen/women were and how different all the information was from store to store. No one is on the same page, nobody knows their products, they dont even understand the verbage as to installation processes. We were also told from 2 different stores that the measure tech not only handles the sales end of it, but will bring the samples to us! All we had to do is tell the salesman which flooring we wanted and the measure tech basically handles the rest. We waited a week for our measure tech. When she finally showed up, and we asked to see the samples, she looked like a deer in the headlights, as confused as we were. After letting us know that she does not do anything but measure, she did answer every single question we had! She not only knew her stuff, but she was able to give us accurate answers with confidence when a total of 5 salesmen over 3 stores could not. We walked though the house, she was patient and so polite. I showed her every room we needed measured, I asked questions basically in every room. She never got frustrated, never rushed us, and did it with a smile! After showing her each room, she told me she would get busy and get it all measured for us. My wife and I let her be and gave her space. We had roughly 1250 sq ft to have measured between the main level and basement. She had it all measured, pictures taken and everything she needed done within 20 min tops. She came and found us on the deck, we asked her to sit down and my wife had a few questions, she sat with us and stayed until every question was answered and we were so glad she did. We definitely felt better after speaking with her. Until we had to wait over a week to even get the quote, they were rude and impatient on the phone, just wanted money, did not want to hear anything else but I am ready to move forward. Did not want to answer questions. The quote, was reasonable for carpet, no surprises, however, it was almost a 2 month wait before we were installed. We were told that they were "stretched thin" for carpet installers so it is a longer wait. The people with the install company Marcs Flooring were the most rude people, the girls that would call are very unpleasant to talk to. Not sure why, I would like to think we are very nice people but for some reason, they just had a thorn in their side. The carpet guys got here, didn't speak English very well, were not very pleasant people. Seemed like they were bothered by even being there. My wife offered them drinks and they would just shake their heads and walk off. Very uncomfortable. Took them 3 days to install the carpet, we did have all of the furniture already moved into a pod for them so we figured maybe 2 full days tops. They seemed to have some trouble when it came to the seams and would get frustrated with each other in their language. At this point I just wanted this process over. The carpet does look very well put together and I have no complaints as far as the install, except the awkward tension during the install. So to recap here is my advice. If you are using your Lowes card, you are pretty much in for the long haul and it will be a long haul. I recommend asking for the female measure tech if you are in the Springfield area, she is absolutely amazing and will be patient with those that have never went through the process. I cannot for the life of me remember her name, all I know is she was in a silver car. No she does not bring samples or take payment. Marcs, rude and not pleasant to deal with. The salesmen/women in the store will give you inaccurate information or no information at all so do your own research! Installers, great work but slightly awkward, could have possibly been the language barrier. I will say, even though we were put off my what we assumed was bad manners, it possibly could just be their culture. they were nicely dressed and kept areas clean! I can also say, that had it not been for the measure tech within this process, we would have not followed through and had gone to the Carpet Shoppe or Midwest Rug. I hope Lowes or Marcs, whoever the employer is, appreciates their measure tech because she is top notch in our book! They would definitely be lacking severely in customer service if they ever loose her. Ask for the girl in the little silver car if you schedule a measure!

The second I looked them up on Angi. Someone called me and the ball was rolling instantly. I communicated with Allison and she kept me up-to-date on everything and let me know when one of the guys was coming out. A fantastic, friendly and easy person to work with. Jeremy was the first one to come, and he was very personable and seemed genuine from the second he came in. He offered us different options, gave us some opinions, but ultimately left it up to us. When we asked about the chances of it being put in before Thanksgiving, he said he felt very good about it, could not promise anything, but would do his very best. The carpet was just installed today and it looks amazing. Chris is the one who came out to make sure everything was measured the way we wanted how much carpet vs floor would show. He did the installation. Promptly here at 10:00 am. He was beyond incredible. Not only did he once more walk us through everything before he started, but he fixed a small issue we have been having with our top step where there is a decent gap between the stair and the wood, We have not been able to fix it. He said he could take a look at it for us and he fixed it. Then on his own without any asking he went and re-glued some of our spindles that were just loose. When you would walk down the stairs, they would make a little rattling sound, but he fixed that for us on his own time. I would recommend them 100%. They were spot on, great communicators, very personable and did a fantastic job.
