I don't visit often, but I seem to get $5 reward certificates every couple of months so I come in to redeem those. The store always seems well-stocked and prices are what they always have been at Michael's compared to other stores. There aren't a lot of employees around and the self checkout kiosks often error out for random reasons, but it's a good location. read more

The Fort Collins Michaels store has HORRIBLE customer service. I made a trip last week to look for one item to finish a project. It was not in stock, so my fault, I did not check the website prior to going. They remained out of the item until last night when I saw they had six of them so I made a trip today in the snow for ONE item. It took me almost an hour for the drive and the time it took waiting for them to tell me they didn't have it. I was mad. The incompetent employee told me mistakes happen and it was probably on another truck or didn't make it on the truck. I used to work retail and I know how inventory works. If it went from out of stock to six in stock, that means it was received and checked into inventory. They are either stupid or too lazy to find it. Then what made me even more mad, she told me "it's not our fault". HOW is ANYONE who doesn't know the first thing about customer service placed in that position? You NEVER tell a customer that your failure isn't your fault. She should have acknowledged that it was their error, the impact of their error to me and tried to make it right. She told me I could go to another store and she didn't even know off the top of her head where the closest store was. IT IS GREELEY! I knew that, why didn't their own employee? No, I won't drive to Greeley to pick up something that is in the Fort Collins store if they just look; and I won't go to another Michaels store anyway. This is the reason that so many of us resort to purchasing from that giant online store. I can shop without leaving my house, it is delivered to my door, I either receive the items when promised or their is communication for delays AND I don't have to deal with incompetence. It says something about a company that does not have a way to contact them online. They don't want to hear about any problems so they just don't have an option to allow it. read more

This is a great store! They have a good selection of craft items at great prices. I came in recently in search of a planner. While they only carry one brand, they had a good selection of sizes/styles along with stickers and I was able to find something to fit my needs. They were also on sale which was a huge plus! Went in there because the website said they had sets of the black canvas in the size I needed in stock for a craft party. I had to stop an employee who had no idea either and she had to ask someone and the "someone" in the ear piece said no we don't carry the small sizes in store (when they had every size imaginable in white canvas in store???) ok??? Go and ask another associate that since they don't have them in store if they could ship the size I need to the store for free , so I don't have to pay shipping and that was also a no. So Michael's doesn't care about guest experience clearly. This store and likely all the other stores are EXTREMELY slim pickings with their merchandise. These stores will go out of business within a couple years if not bankrupt or go online, mark my words. I honestly don't know if I'll ever shop here again after today's experience! I placed an order to be picked up from Michael's. I followed the instructions via the email sent to me and arrived at the store, parked in a designated parking place, and indicated on the site that I was there in parking place number 2. After waiting about 15-20 minutes, I had to go inside and find an employee to retrieve my items. I am a nurse and had been sick with RSV and was attempting to avoid much contact with others. Zero Stars for this store!! Our daughter took a very nice print to the framing department in this Michaels store. They not only scratched and ruined the print, they didn't tell her until she went to pick it up. When she noticed it, she was in tears. They had already charged her for the framing and said they couldn't do anything . The Manager came over and said that she would submit a claim to corporate and that she would be contacted. That was well over a month ago and no one has contacted her. She has called the store multiple times. We spoke to Casey, another manager a few weeks ago and she said she would get back to us with an update. Still no update and when we called today, we were put on hold for over 30 mins without any answers to our questions. We do not recommend this store and would not use them for framing anything. We are very disappointed and have had no help whatsoever to help us with this situation. They ruined a very nice print and then charged our daughter over $250 to frame it. We would like to be reimbursed for the print as well as the framing. Terrible customer service!!!!!!! Will never use this store again and will keep working to get this situation rectified as they clearly did the damage and aren't working to help us at all. We were not given a claims dept number but we will find a way to reach corporate as this is absolutely ridiculous!! read more

I had called the store to inquire about a brand of yarn they ( being michaels) carried. The associate on the phone had a bad attitude was very quippy wasn't very helpful. Furthermore i had entered the sore upon checkout the associates working the register were talking badly about costumers and colleagues. None of the workers seemed very friendly nor happy to be there. I spend a lot of time at Michael's and usually enjoy my shopping experience. I have to say that their restroom is so disgusting & filthy. My first visit was bad but I figured they were just busy & hadn't had time to empty the trash but my next few visits in the last month, the facility has been worse each time. I find it hard to believe they are so busy that someone can't take out the trash or install the paper towels and toilet tissue instead of leaning them against the sink/toilet. The trash is always so full that people end up throwing their paper towels on the floor. I've been in campground out houses that smell better. Come on guys clean it up! read more

I love Michael's because I think they have really the best and innovative decorations for the holidays in town. I love their Halloween stuff. This year I went to the different stores and they had the same stuff-literally! No repaints or slight variations, same exact thing. Boring! They got cute Christmas stuff too! My only complaint is that their Halloween houses and Christmas houses seem to be a bit steep, but they off set that when they go clearance, which is usually before the holiday they are themed for. read more

You can discover the perfect shade of paint to revive that old, ratty-looking bookshelf. The candle & oval wire sconce/holder were purchased at M.'s, at a very reasonable price, & now the Feng Shui of my home has, indeed, been altered positively (*or so I'm told). :) The orchid-wrapped branches in the brown vase were also purchased there, and can be beautifully lit by simply plugging in the vase. (*My camera didn't capture the brilliance of the lit flowers with the flash, so I photographed it 'un-lit'). The luminous, turquoise-colored fabric underneath my HD television box is also from Michael's. I walk into Michaels maybe twice a year. My recent visit is enough motivation to send me to Joanne Fabrics for all my crafting needs in the future. I asked an associate if she could help me look for an item, but before I could finish the sentence, her exact repsonse was "o umm, give me one second". Then walked off. I saw her 10 minutes later but she had already forgotten about helping me. Another problem I have with this location is the shelving units they use to hold merchandise. I know it seems like a wierd complaint but it feels like im shopping in a mom and pop thrift store. They have different types of shelves throughout the store that do not match and for me it is highly noticeable. The entire store seems very dated and cramped. I was assisted in finding items only by asking the supervisor. Many of the employees dont know where items are located and when they ask via radio, they get no repsonse. read more

I walked into Michael's looking for candle making supplies. I had never been in this store so I asked and associate where they were. I got a very short "Aisle 22" from her. Well unfortunately there are Aisle 22A and 22B but at least she narrowed it down. So I get to the very small candle making section and its completely empty aside from a few candle molds. I only go into these kinds of places if its something I need right away but I have to say next time I will order it online and wait for it to come to me. I won't be back Michael's. read more

I went into Michaels to frame a 6 in by 12 in cross stitch picture. The very rude employee just said "custom framing starts at $100." He didn't even ask about glass and a mat. All I wanted was a simple frame. We went to Hobby Lobby and I will have a very nice custom frame for $25 in a week. Hobby Lobby cared about giving good service. I won't even think of going to Michaels for anything in the future. read more

WoW!!! Amazing customer service at this store today!! My husband had knelt down to check out a sale item and apparently a bead had been broken on the floor. When he stood up he noticed he was bleeding. I went to the front of the store to ask for a napkin and the cashier (Cassidy) was concerned right away and rushed to make sure my husband was alright and to get the broken bead cleaned up off the floor. She was so sweet and sincerely concerned! Then, almost immediately, manager Alex showed up with first-aid materials including alcohol wipes, a triple antibiotic wipe and a bandaid. He also offered us a discount for the mishap! He was very apologetic and we could see that he really cared! We really, truly felt valued as customers today. I mean, we always love Michaels and we always feel valued... but we were really in awe at how well this incident was handled. Fantastic staff at this store location! A+++ read more

The reason I'm giving this a two star instead of a one star is because I love the variety of floral items they carry. Otherwise I am always disappointed when I come into this store. They normally have extremely loud music, everything is very unorganized and poor customer service if you ever need help finding stuff they look at you like you are crazy. I have walked out of here so many times without buying things just because the staff makes me feel so horrible. This Michael's is is great! The customer service provided by the employees is amazing, as is their knowledge of where things are in the store, as well as alternatives and work-arounds for whatever project you are working on. BUT, what I wanted to review is the frame shop. I don't know why I ever went anywhere else. The master framer that helped me is Ben. He worked with me to get just the exact perfect combination of matting along with a great frame. He has a great eye, trust his opinion. Plus, by using a frame carried by the store, he was able to rush my order in time for it to be ready for my friend's birthday tomorrow. In fact, he got it done a day earlier than he thought, which took away the whole last minute anxiety that I could have experienced. Whew! I felt great about the job from the beginning. I really can't say enough good things about both Ben, and the Michael's on College in Fort Collins. read more

Micheals is not a 1 in all aspects but just in having a picture framed. The cost was $200. When we received it we were told that it was difficult to lay flat the poster we gave them. It looked terrible. The whole picture had large and small bubbles on it. This last week we decided to see if we could fix it. We found that the poster was not even glued in and that is why it was not flat. Think of a poster that was rolled up and put under some glass, it looked terrible. We were able to glue it on and use a rolling pin to make it look good. I should of took it back and refuse to pay but I was told it was the best that they could do and I have no experience framing posters. read more

I haven't been to Michaels in years but I thought I'd check their prices on a couple of very common craft pieces but I couldn't find anything anywhere. They don't seem to have a whole lot and if they did have what I wanted, I couldn't find anyone to help me. I decided to use their bathroom before leaving and it looked like it hadn't been cleaned in weeks, or possibly months! There was trash & toilet paper all over the floor & the place was just dirty. As soon as I walked in a lady yelled & asked for toilet paper so I got her toilet paper cuz her stall had none. when she got out & washed her hands... no paper towels either. And I won't even go into the smell! On my way through the store I did see something like ribbon maybe, and one sewing needle. When I got to the counter some girl with brown hair waved me over and the whole transaction acted like she was in a HUGE rush even though there was no one else there. I think I know why it was empty! So she took my 2 small items, rang them up, asked if I found everything ok. I made a comment insinuating that no I did not & she got very snotty & said, ok would you like a bag?, completely ignoring me. Why ask! I said yes & she gave me this jumbo enormous oversized bag for a needle and a small spool of ribbon. I looked at her & said, seriously? She continued to have a very snotty, stuck up attitude & turned her head with her nose up in the air and walked away from me. I was like, wow! After that I went to Hobby lobby & asked them where all my things were. They were very helpful, it was such a nicer atmosphere having people there with good attitudes. I ended spending about $200.
