it's a really cute place but the prices are just too much for what they are selling. i'm always…read morehappy to buy from small businesses, but it's frustrating when there is a lack of integrity in their prices. i spent FIFTY DOLLARS for 9 buttons and 2 small skeins - FIFTY DOLLARS!!! i know hobby lobby buttons when i see them. there is no clear system for pricing and the receipt has no items listed on it. i have no clue what i even paid for. i completely understand that inflation is affecting businesses heavily, but that percentage of a mark up, especially for small basic items, IS SO DUMB!!!!!!! yall are in a college town, why not make it young adult friendly??? with young adult friendly prices. (even if it's just a sale section - just at-least something) they have fine stock, but crotchet and knitting is a much bigger demographic, so why not appeal to all fiber artists? lame i cant find a yarn store with reasonable prices. i'm stuck with hobby lobby and michael's also they don't have any chenille idk - just doesn't seem sustainable, serving a niche market, while also charging insane prices. which is super lame because they have such a good space and clearly there is passion.

Never mind you are spinning a…read morefleece that feels like butter and never mind the vast versatility of the fleece, never mind this luxurious fleece is hypoallergenic or the fact you can choose between Huacaya which has amazing crimp, or for he more advanced spinner, can use Suri which has no crimp....just a few good reasons to choose Alpaca fleece but the reason you really choose Alpaca....for me, is the animal itself. How could anyone resist those baby doll faces and sweet temperaments? Now, I have to admit to being a hobby farm enthusiast, mainly because our family used to be hobby farm owners, so the animal is just as important to me as the fleece. When it came time to go on my search to find my first Alpaca Fleeces, I wasn't interested in just ordering on-line or having a friend procure one for me, I wanted to feel my way through the process. You will never imagine my joy at having found 'Stargazers Ranch' in Loveland, Colorado. When you go to Stargazers, you are not going to just purchase a fleece, you are going for the experience! My experience started when my husband helped me into my wheelchair...why is that significant you ask? That is my way of telling you they are completely accessible! Yes, even in a wheelchair, you can have a complete experience and not have to sit at the edge of the barn floor and watch from a distance as happens so many times when you are confined to a chair. When I arrived at Stargazers, I arrived to dozens of fleeces and roving's having been sat out for me. Since I am a relatively new spinner, I needed some advice and instruction in choosing my fleeces. I knew I wanted a skirted fleece since I still have difficulty choosing what should go and what should stay. I was offered a vast array of skirted and tipped fleeces in every color Alpacas have to offer. I love the beauty of natural darker colored Alpacas so that is where my eyes went. I purchased everything from a dark gray, a dark brown and a dark fawn, and, of course, a stunning white from a girl named Curly Sue. The micron counts ranged from approximately 18 to 23 and they all promised hours of joyful spinning. After the delightful experience of mini-lessons on choosing an Alpaca Fleece and going through dozens of choices, having made my decisions, I was offered the opportunity of meeting the stars of Stargazers, the Alpacas themselves. I was treated so kindly. The owners went above and beyond to allow me in the pens with the Alpacas, starting with babies...how fun is that!?! The Alpacas were timid of me at first, after all, I drove in their pens in an electric wheelchair. It was a bit intimidating for them at first, but I was given some treats and it didn't take long for the promise of treats to overcome their skittishness around the wheelchair. In no time, I was surrounded by excited Alpacas. We went from pen to pen, meeting all the girls and boys of the farm...my joy was complete! If you want a fabulous Alpaca Fleece, by all means, go on-line and purchase fleece from Stargazers, you can't do better than their babies. However, if by chance, you happen to find yourself in Colorado and want an experience you will never forget, stop by Stargazers. I am taking home four bags full of beautiful Alpaca fiber but I have to tell you, I have my eye on a little girl we met whose fleece is destine to be on my wheel after her next shearing!!! I have found my Alpaca Fleece source! You should give them a try and make Stargazers your Alpaca Fleece providers of choice!!!

Look, I'm no spinner or knitter although my wife is. That being said, I thoroughly enjoyed a 2…read morehour visit with the Stargazer alpacas and helping select some take-hone yarn. Ranch owner Cindy couldn't have been a more pleasant guide. She provided information about alpacas answering every question we could ask and more. Of course we spent quite some time with about a dozen mothers and babies. With the treats provided, these skittish creatures became our very good friends. Cindy made clear that she would really favor a group of handicapped or disadvantaged children to a bunch of boisterous 8-th graders. This is a working ranch that focuses on stud fees, fleece, and selling well-bred animals and visits are just a small part of the income stream.

I came across Knitters Therapy last week. I had never visited the store or had even heard of them…read more- but now, I tell everyone about this locally owned gem! I was looking for a store that carried gems and maybe some jewelry. I was surprised because this store came up under "arts & crafts" which I do neither. In any case, I stopped in and instantly knew I was going to spend way too much time there. Upon entering I immediately noticed there was so much more than yarn and art supplies. I beelined straight for all of the jewelry. I was greeted by the owner, Shawna and her vicious guard dog, Tiny, the chihuahua. I spent over an hour asking so many questions about stones and their meanings, it was fascinating. Shawna did not seem to mind at all! I noticed they also have a lot of literature on Reiki, something I have heard about but never really looked into, so maybe that will be next. Shawna told me they offer knitting workshops too, it's definitely a knitters/artist like community. OK, back to the jewelry. They have charms, earrings, bracelets, necklaces and pendants both big and small. There is something for everyone. They have masculine pieces, feminine pieces and unisex pieces. The prices are extremely reasonable, especially the handmade pieces. They have pieces to fit anyone's budget. The handmade pendants are a work of art. They have very simple ones and very intricate ones. I purchased three items. The first is a small and simple blue, white, and black Jasper pendant, which I wear with a simple silver chain. The other two pieces I will treasure for a very long time. For myself I purchased a handmade pendant made of copper with moonstone and black tourmaline. I wore it out that night and received so many compliments on it, and people asked me so many questions about it! I purchased the other pendant for my friend who does not wear any jewelry but was blown away by the artistry and has always loved labradorite. He has not taken it off since I gave it to him! His pendant is also hand made with copper. What's interesting...these were the first two pieces I gravitated to - but still had to look at every piece in the store at least three times, but always came back to those pieces. Shawna told me about the different stone properties - and it just made too much sense why I gravitated to these pieces! Even if jewelry isn't your thing, or you aren't familiar with certain stones, knitting, or Reiki, I still recommend visiting this store. There is so much to look at, learn about, and admire. It is very accessible with plenty of free parking. I will definitely be back, perhaps after my next paycheck because I already made a list of what I want to purchase next! Much wasted space where they could stage more product as their line of goods is limited. The prices are way out of line comparing them to other shops in the area. They are in a very nice building with a prime location and I imagine the cost to stay there must be quite high. Check out other shops as you will be able to find better prices as well as a much better selection.

The store always seems well-stocked and prices are what they always have been at Michael's compared to other stores. There aren't a lot of employees around and the self checkout kiosks often error out for random reasons, but it's a good location.
