I forget how good the service is at Michael's is. This was my first time at this location. In the past I have used the 700 North Main Street location in Fort Worth (http://www.yelp.com/biz/michaels-keys-fort-worth-2). This location is a lot bigger, and I was amazed by the number of Michael's Keys trucks in the lot. It seems I am always going into Michael's to get a lock re-keyed (typically a lock that I never had the key for). This sounds like it should be expensive, but it generally runs around $10 (Of course price will vary by lock). Michael's is also a great place to have keys made, as their prices do seem to be less than other places that cut keys. This location also had more interesting things too look at while I waited (the re-key service is typically done while you wait, though you don't have too). If I ever need anything lock related, this is the place I will come. read more

Our son's car key's transmitter broke off, causing the vehicle to not recognize the key, upon starting the car. I had a tenant that called them out to re-key a lock... One of the doors needed more work than just a re-keying... i was told it would be $130. I get the invoice and was charged an additional $95 for a "service-call"even tho they were already there. I called for clarification and the gentleman who answered could not explain this fee... He said it was bc it was a different address, which isn't the case. They had two doors to rekey here. I did tell them to separate this additional work on a different invoice; but they were already there for the other door. read more

Installed a new doorknob for me. Fell off less than 6 months later. When I called to ask them to repair o was told I had to wait until next day. Said "it was my problem". Paid another locksmith to fix it. I was told that it's a good lock but was not installed properly. Oh and guy who installed it left screws and trash for me to clean up. read more

After 8 months in storage our "pod" had a padlock to which we'd lost all keys. I called for an appointment a week ahead, and they told me to just call the day before. Michael's Keys is great! If you've been keeping up with my recent reviews, we purchased a new home and need all things new home. To replace our locks, we were specifically looking into Medeco locks, which if you haven't heard about these locks...You Tube it now. Since we had an older (historic) home, we were worried the locks would not fit our doors. DJ took out time to explain Medeco locks (cause they ain't cheap) and even offered to send out a tech to look at our doors and tell us if we could get Medeco put in. Ethan came, gave us some recommendations on reinforcing the doorframe and got us scheduled for the install. He was done in a short time and the locks look great. If we ever need locks we'll go back to Michael's Keys. read more

At 3:15 the locksmith was already at work on replacing the locks. Unfortunately I can't remember his name and it's not on the invoice. He was great. At one point he had to go back to the shop to get a tool that he was missing. He was back quickly and finished the job with zero hassle. I feel much safer in my home now. I came in just to get a cost estimate for a remote key for my car. My chip key handle was cracked and I was looking to get it replaced. Instead of getting a remote key, the clerk proposed moving the components from the broken chip key into a new four button chip key. The cost was far less than what I expected, so I agreed. The whole process took maybe ten minutes at the most and I was on my way. They have my recommendation and I would use them again in the future. 0 if possible, took a new in box digital dead bolt lock to be rekeyed, rekeyed, kept some parts, did not complete job as lock is now unusable I'm out $120 for the lock,$15ti re key, the keeping of critical parts and making lock unusable was no additional charge, tried to find the missing parts calling several stores and checking on Line no one had the dead bolt latch which is again component, did find one at the location that did the rekeying for only $49.00, this is available at several stores, (lowes, Home Depot ) in generic brand for 10-14 dollars. just find it funny that the only locksmith with the OE part just happened to be who did the rekeying. i personally would check with banks brokers etc if they use Michaels you funds are NOT secure. would not trust them to empty a liter box, read more

I pulled a dumb move and locked the keys to my 1920's steamer trunk inside it... we transported all 150 pounds of it to michael's keys in hopes of liberating them haha. Our technician (I'm so sorry I've forgotten his name!) was very efficient, and took extra care not to damage it (it's an antique valued around $3000 so I really appreciate that!) he was able to pick the lock in about 5 minutes, helped me set it upright to get the key out of it and lay it back down for travel. I consulted three locksmiths for quotes for a home we were close to purchasing, by sending an email and sending photos of all five locks on the house. Only Michael's Keys gave me a quote for how much each type of work would cost, and what my options were for services (rekeying, installation, etc.). They also recommended affordable safety upgrades, like a Tuff Plate for the door that would make it more difficult for the door to be kicked in. After reviewing the recommendations for our locks, I was able to purchase the hardware that would work best for my new home, and set the appointment as soon as we closed on the house. We were handed the keys to our new home on Thursday at 4p, and Thomas from Michael's Keys was at my new house on Friday by 9:45a. As for estimate vs actual cost, the only difference between the quoted cost and the final cost was a $20 fee for having to drill one of the old lock holes to make it large enough to fit the new lock. Thomas and his assistant were quick, professional, and let me know how things were going every step of the way. A couple of the doors on the house were not level, and he worked on repositioning things until he could get them to work as intended. I would highly recommend Michael's Keys for any rekeying work needed. read more
