Finally made my way to this Michaels. Located on the top floor of the shopping/food complex off of Olympic and Sawtelle with free parking. I was amazed how much stuff there was in this location for being in West LA. More stuff of everything. They have wedding stuff which was great! A little less baking stuff than I expected but still a fair selection. Line was quick and staff were friendly. read more

I've been here a few times now and every time I go in for something, not only do I leave without the item but I'm usually annoyed as well. For being such a large store, they never have things that I feel should be present when I go in. Once, I went in looking for ornament hooks in May. Now I understand that it wasn't Christmas, but in my head, that seems like an item that would have some practical use to be on display year round. NOPE. I left, and ordered them from Amazon. Second trip, I went in on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving trying to pick up some last minute decorations before having 15 people invade my home in a few days time. When I walked in the door, I was immediately bombarded by all things Christmas, and I knew that this was probably going to be a fruitless effort. I moved through many of the aisles, trying to find fake gourds ducked away in some forgotten corner of the store, or a table runner in something other than bright red or green. When it was clear that this was going no where, I went to an attendant: "Excuse me, do you have any fake gourds?" "No." "Like anywhere? All I see is Christmas stuff." "We got rid of all the fall merchandise a few weeks ago." "...(grunt)" I'm not going to argue with a person that had little to nothing to do with the current situation but WHY WOULD YOU GET RID OF THE MERCHANDISE (WHICH I'M SURE IS ALREADY LIMITED) BEFORE THE DAMN HOLIDAY?! That was it for me. I absolutely hate this place, and dread when in the future some unforeseen emergency is going to require me to come back here. Love that they opened up this location because it is closer to me than the Santa Monica location was. This is my go-to place for all my baking needs. They especially carry lots of things for cake pops! The only thing I disliked is that no one was walking around for me to ask where to find some items I was looking for. I walked around the whole store before I found the baking aisle. There were no signs or anything. Tip: download the Michaels app or go to their website and print out or text to your phone coupons. They always have coupons for around 40% off one item. I love how you can just text the coupons to yourself and show the barcode on your phone. How easy and convenient is that? read more

This is *the* place to go in search of arts and craft supplies, and a crafty person can most likely find something they need here. But Michael's, woe to you for moving from your previous location! Having visited their old Santa Monica store often, I was disappointed by the location of the new store. And I remained disappointed for over a year as I drove by the place without stopping, instead put off by the awful traffic gridlock of the nearby 405 which makes even thinking about entering their large shopping center location seem like something from an Escher hell. My weekly Michael's trips stopped, and it wasn't until this past week that I finally bit down and dealt with going into this new store... And let me tell you. It is not worth it. The store seems smaller than the prior location, but perhaps this is an illusion as here is only 1 floor as opposed to the 2 at the other store. And parking is, yes, a nuisance. More irritating was the lack of signage in the garage and around the first level stores. We rode down the escalator and walked around the entire footprint of the first level before finally seeing a sign letting us know we should have gone upstairs from the start. Yes, they probably have the things that you need or something you can make do with. And yes, seeing the items in person is much better than seeing them online. However, both items I came to see weren't the quality I was hoping for - their wood boxes are of terrible quality and investing time into crafting or painting them would be wasted as they would just break. And although they have tons of scrapbook supplies, their variety of actual photo albums is limited to the slide insert variety. I left buying only a Sharpie. I'm not a deep pockets kind of person, but I figure since the move, Michael's lost out on at least several hundred of my dollars. And since I'll never visit this store again...well, I can only hope they open another freestanding store somewhere easily accessible. Pfft. At least the staff were nice. Enjoy. read more

I went in to buy some Prismacolor markers, which were locked in a glass case. After an employee opened the case for me, I picked out a few.. Wow. This was the biggest, nicest Michael's I've ever been in. Everything looks a little bit cleaner and a little bit neater. We came for photo boxes and easily found them. There seems to be help available on the floor. Although no one asked if we needed anything, they seemed to be around if we needed them. Parking is easy to find though the lot is a little intimidating. Checkout is handled wisely by one line that is served by all registers. read more

This is a good Michaels! It's large, tidy and they have plenty of items for your arts and crafts needs. This is located off of Olympic in a large structure with a few other stores in it such as Marshalls and Pet Smart. To get into the parking structure, turn onto Beloit Avenue and then you can enter there. The Michaels is on the top floor, so head straight up there to park. As with all Michaels, for some reason, there seems to never be any employees around when you have a question or need help. The checkout lines can also get very, very long at times. Other than these few things, it gets the job done! Be sure to go online and get your coupons before you go in. You can have them printed or they can also just scan it off of your phone. read more

Finally. A REAL arts & crafts store in LA. Easy parking. TONS of merchandise. Big store. (Totally the opposite of the Michaels or Joanne's in Santa Monica, but Paper Source in Santa Monica is still quite excellent for paper projects like invitations) Buuuuuuuuuut, I have 2 tweeny weeny complaints. First, there is hardly a sewing section. No patterns, good threads, no real selection on machines, and so on. Meh. I think I'm going to try out Modern Sew on Pico soon. Second, prices are not great (this, of course, is a complaint I have in general with Michaels as a business and not this location per se). I have found many items for cheaper online or in my secret spot in downtown LA. With that said, Michaels has decent sales. In fact, from this week (I think Thursday), they are giving 15% off of everything! Oh, and nice and helpful staff!! Much better than the ones at the Santa Monica location. read more

PARKING: (isn't this the first thing LA peeps ponder about?) Lots of parking. TIP: Ignore the first and second levels completely, just go straight up. Sharp corners, watch for clueless drivers. STORE: very clean, well-lit. HUGE! Just like the ones you'd find in the suburbs. Much, much more spacious, clean and well organized in comparison to the former Santa Monica location. Heavens forbid you find an employee to help you search for an item in this store. It is nearly impossible to find exactly what you need, because none is willing to help! (I even saw one employee literately running away from me) There is only one person at the cash register and its nearly a ghost town around the framing area. The parking situation is a borderline disaster and honestly some of Michael's prices are way to high. They even rang me up incorrectly at some point and I KNEW IT WOULD TAKE FOREVER TO refund me the correct amount so I didn't even bother, and I just paid extra essentially to get out of there as fast as I can. I was happy when this place opened a few months ago in West LA! I can finally buy reasonably priced paints, stationary, and other crafty things that I probably don't really need... If you are bored with no plans, you can get lost here for hours! My only critique- some of the staff members don't really know where things are in the store and they are very hard to find when you walk around the store. read more

I love this Michael's. Parking is a bit complicated but you should head straight to the rooftop. Always plenty of spaces and right at the Michael's entrance. The staff is helpful and even though I usually don't ask for help someone is always asking if I need any assistance. They accept all the coupons you receive in the email or any that can be found on their website. Everything is always in stock and they have the biggest choices for any craft and hobby needs. Though the store is big and has tons of selections, the customer service is terrible. I have been twice in two weeks and have been completely ignored. I come on my lunch break and hope to just find what I'm looking for to get in and out of there. I can't easily do that if no one will assist me. I even approached one of your employees and she immediately walked away from me; no she wasn't helping someone else. I walked around the entire store, up and down every single aisle looking for the item myself both times. In which both times I left empty handed. This has happened on previous occasions, but since I hadn't been in awhile I figured maybe it'd be better. Nope. Anyway, I'll just take my business elsewhere. Just bought a few art supplies. I'm watching my sisters kids this weekend. They like to decorate tee shirts. I got a whole bunch of gems and studs, glitter, and more. I love arts This will be a fun weekend. The sales people are very nice and helped me find everything I was looking for. The supplies were reasonably priced. The less time you deal with the staff here the better your experience. If you ask their staff for anything that goes beyond their mundane tasks, your bound to have a recipe for disaster. I'm not going to say theres no staff member here not genuinely willing to help you, Because there are still those few, its just not consistent. Twice now, have i placed and online order and pick up at this store and they cancel my order. First time around was partly my fault. Say my last day for pick up was Wednesday, so i called Thursday morning and asked if my items where still there (because i had not received the notification of it being cancelled). Yes! the items are still being and i asked them to please hold them that they are do for cancelling but that i'm on the way right now! the gentlemen said ok he will hold them. 20 minutes later i get there and its gone. Whichever manager was there i dont remember her damn name but it was a useless lady. Even after finding my items with the gentlemen who knew what i was talking about she proceeded to waste my time. Saying she'll need to call a 1 800 number to verify (they were on labor day promotional price), otherwise she would not sell me the items!!! even with my email to prove price and purchase. This whole thing took nearly an hour and i ended up leaving without my items. Second time, i made sure that I'd come pick up my items way before the cut off day. Got the notification on Sunday about my items being ready and that i have until Friday to pick them up. Just as i was getting ready to leave Wednesday morning i get an email notification that my order was cancelled. At this point I know these people are doing this on purpose, i may be assuming but the email itself says they cancelled my order because i neglected it (not that they didn't have it). Thats 3 business days shorter then the cutoff date. And its not like the item sold out, there were plenty of them in the store when i went in. One thing is for sure, i had a pleasant experience with two ladies on their customer service phone number in Micheal's website. Because of them (Sandra and Valerie) i was still able to come in and pick up my items with the discounted price i had originally purchased them for. They personally had to call the store to make sure they held my items, because i told them at this point it feels like this is being done on purpose. I've not had this issue with any other Micheals store, but this is the closest one to my house, without having to take the freeway and fighting LA traffic for two hours just to reach the next Micheals. read more

This Michaels is pretty awesome, and I been to a couple. My mother is really into arts and crafts and I find that this Michael seems to have a far better selections of craft items than the other Michaels around my area. Also everything is so festive and lively in here! Or maybe I was just having a very festive day and it transferred to my opinion of this store. But either way, I really enjoyed browsing through this store for craft ideas. Prices are mediocre or the same as other Michael's. You can probably find cheaper prices online, but you'll never be able to look for creative inspiration without being in an actual arts and crafts store. read more

Ok this place is huge. Make sure you know exactly what you're looking for; had someone forewarned me, I would've made myself a very specific list noting everything down to the color, size, brand, etc. Otherwise, you may end up spending away half your day in there and walk out shocked as all hell that it's dark outside already. Taking into account the size of this store and all of its inclusiveness, every isle is well-kept and surprisingly very organized, which was like a breath of fresh air coming from the Marshall's next door. Their selection is HUGE, like I really think they might just carry every brand that makes whatever it is that you're looking for, which is why I spent as much time as I did - I didn't know which brand to choose! I was yarn shopping (I'm a noob knitter) and didn't even know they came in so many different sizes, let alone the large variety of colors to choose from. In the end, I left a happy consumer with 6 skeins of pretty colored yarn... And a bunch of other craft materials I probably won't touch until next year. Thanks to their eager-to-assist employees, I found out what all the numbers on the package meant and which one I would need to knit a hat. Wow u am obsessed with this place. If you are a lover of arts and crafts or creativity this place is for you. They have something for all ages. I needed to spice up some cards I got and I needed ribbons. They have the most amazing selection of all kinds of ribbons you can think of. They also have all the accessories that you my need. I love scrap booking and they have a whole bunch of stuff that I love. Now that of think about it, I have gotten so many different items here. They have amazing high quality acrylic spray pair that my husband and I used to change the color of some bar stool chairs we had too! This is a great place for kids to come and et creative. It is also a great place to but supplies for kids birthdays. You must check it out. Te prices are dry food as well. read more

Never shop here without a coupon, however, and print out or keep on your phone any online deals. My store is the Glendale, CA Store and when I had to return extra Christmas Decors and I couldn't find my receipt, they entered my phone number as I have a Michaels Rewards Number - which is free so sign up for it - they tracked my order and gave me the refund in CASH! Off the bat, I need to say that I'm happy to have a Michael's near me...I love going with my daughter and picking up all sorts of lovely arts and crafts supplies. The place is SO packed with any type of supplies for any project you could ever imagine. That said, yes, the store isn't perfect: sometimes it's impossible to get any help, sometimes the employees are really aloof, sometimes you just have to wander around and find what you can on your own... That's not really the worst thing that could ever happen to you, seeing as the place is a playground of creative fun. I took my much loved framed print of Hieronymus Bosch's "Garden of Earthly Delights" to Michael's on Olympic Boulevard in Los Angeles to replace the glass after it cracked. I mistakenly assumed that Michael's provided professional framing services. I opted to replace the cracked glass with acrylic to avoid future cracks. When I picked up my print, I noticed that it did not lie flat beneath the acrylic. I took it back to have that corrected. When I returned to pick up the corrected framing, it had not been corrected. The staffer at the framing desk said it could not be corrected. Something to do with how it was matted. It was lying flat when I brought it in. If, in fact, the print could not be reframed lying flat, why did not the framing manager give me a call to give me the option of continuing the job or cancelling it and collecting some of the $117 fee as a refund. I could have ordered a new print and had it framed. But that did not happen. A professional operation would have called me and avoided the disgust and frustration I now feel. There are many framing services in the Los Angeles area. I won't be using Michael's again. read more

MICHAELS!! BRAND NEW!! So, I went a-looking for some crafting supplies and begrudgingly went to their website. You should go check it out NOW if you haven't seen it because it has been totally revamped. To go along with their new website is a brand new store on the westside. Really walking distance from my place. So much better than going all the way to Santa Monica, finding parking, and then walking through the cramped aisles. This Michael's is super clean, new, with friendly staff. It's well run with bright, wide aisles. And, the parking, if you have to drive, is easy, because it's attached to the building in a structure. I'm actually looking forward to my next trip there! Who would have thunk? read more

Michaels is always great. The only thing I hate here is the parking lot. If you're coming to Michaels come straight to the 3rd floor and when you leave, try leaving through the back of the parking garage vs. the front. As far as the store goes. Everything you would expect at a normal Michaels and the staff has always been really helpful with finding anything that I needed. Tip: If you are a teacher or even a camp counselor, they will give you a discount. :) read more

This store is a terrible time to go to for the holidays. You would think at Monday night, two weeks before Christmas, there will not be crowds. I was mistaken. The staff here are apathetic, impatient, and have no idea what their inventory is. Many customers were essentially on their own in trying to find what they needed. The most common phrase I heard from the very few staff that were available was "I don't know." Since this was the closest craft store for me, I had little choice but to go so if you need something from here, be prepared to wander around the aisles and look for the item yourself as the staff will either not be around or able to answer your question. read more

The staff here are friendly and this store has almost anything you need for crafting. This Michael's location has a great selection of items but HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! There are no knowledgeable reps to answer questions. I asked a sales associate a question to which she couldn't answer so she asked me to chase down another staff member a couple of aisles over. Why should I have to do that?!?! I found all the items that I needed and stood in the long line only to have the clerk rush through the sale without asking me for my rewards information. Right before leaving I remembered that I would like to get the points for the things I purchased and a nearby rep told me I would need to get back in line to address their mistake. Yeah right... I walked back over to the clerk to let her know my concern and she basically blamed me for not telling her I'm a rewards member. This Michael's is very clean and organized, which makes it easy to navigate. They are pretty well stocked and if you park on the top floor you'll never have issues parking. I come here often but dread the check out process. Recently after watching the staff do anything but check customers out, I finally made it to the register. I nicely greeted the staff upon checkout and the girl (Michelle I think?) didn't respond or even look at me. She talked to her coworker friend over her walkie/radio thing while she rang me up. When I was done I thanked her and she again ignored me. The staff is generally pretty young and I've found they're pretty rude and entitled (so it begins... young millennials in the workplace).
