I love going to this store. Have just about everything i need except fabric. Would be awesome if they sold fabric. (More than a 12x12 inch square) other than that its an awesome store. I miss the older lady manager with the silver hair. She was really nice and always helpful. One of the managers chris is awesome too he can always recommend and answer any questions i have for him. The new manager though and the only reason i gave 4 instead of t stars is because at 10 till closing the new african american. Male manager starts shouting "michaels is now closed! All customers up to the front immediately!..." And he does this cow herding motion with his hands and he sweeps through the store herding and stragglers up to the front or out the doors. He says it over and over till everyone is upfront. I get wanting to go home but that kills the experience and is really disrespectful in my opinion. While the lines can be long, there is usually a good number of fast-working cashiers present. The store is pretty clean and well-stocked for the most part, however, the women's bathroom has always been in an atrocious state (and I've had to stop there a handful of times). The people at the store are literally idiots. I just called and asked for the third time today if they have the canvas that I needed. The first two times they said no. The third time I asked them to check the back of the store and let me know if they had it. They said they had it and that they were going to hold it for me. They even took my name. I got out of traffic and drove the entire opposite way to pick up this canvas and when I get there not one person admitted that they answered the phone. Guess what? There was no canvas there. I have no complaints about this store. It's spacious, well stocked, and had plenty of associates who actually knew where items were off the top of their head. They didn't have to think about it. Yea, they didn't have an artificial rose that I was looking for that I had found at another location but that's going to happen. Overall I was happy with this store and will go back. This was my second or third visit. They have plenty of free parking in a structure that you enter beneath the store through an a short side street. I am a frequent to Michaels all over LA and I must say this is my least favorite one. Sadly it is closest to my apartment and my work so I had to go to save on time. Absolutely horrible customer service. Their elevator was broken causing me to carry 6 large glass bowls down three flights of stairs. I asked for help because I wasn't sure how to get them down and the front desk handed me some packing paper... It should be standard to wrap glass items anyway, but instead I had to wrap everything myself in the corner while they all stood at the front doing nothing. They then watched me lug everything down the stairs and did not say a word... what is wrong with the world these days? Came to the store to have a portrait framed, upon arriving I didn't see anyone in that area, a common occurrence. I asked the first of three people and she told me she doesn't work in that area, the second told me that the person left and back up is doing a class, at that point I asked for help finding a frame that fit the portrait to which the lady replied I don't work on this area and walked off. I asked another person and she gave me the same response. There are tons of employees but none seem to be helping customers. I will not return to this store, I'll use hobby lobby from now on. I love that this Michaels is conveniently located, well stocked, and carries some items which their competitor doesn't. However this location seems to make up their own rules when it comes to competitor coupons and returns. I had a cashier tell me that I couldn't use the Joann coupon unless it was printed out. I asked to speak to a manager and he said it was fine. It was a little embarrassing. Secondly I bought a craft machine and asked one of the managers if I could return it if unused. I was still thinking of which deal to get, the one at joann's or the bundle at michaels. I decided to stick with Joann's because I already had all the extras the michaels bundle comes with. Upon my return a different manager gave me the hardest time when returning. He claimed there was a sticker at the top which I removed. I also work retail and understand return policy, I would never have removed a sticker. Needles to say he very rudely returned my item and said next time I should make sure it has a sticker, and that if he was the one who sold me the product he would've made sure it had one. This taught me a lesson and I will be even more paranoid about big purchases and ask if it has extra things even though I don't see them and the box looks perfectly fine to me. I must agree with other Yelpers, the staff does not greet you properly and they aren't very friendly when you ask for help. Needless to say I will still shop at this location because I'm a true crafter. read more

Delivery Lie! I ordered some frames from Michaels and when only 1 out of 6 arrived, I tracked the package and to my surprise it said the other 5 were delivered on different day! I now see others having similar issues and difficulty getting a phone number, btw its 800-642-4235. After an hour plus waiting on the phone to get to a person, I spoke with someone who seemed to want to help resolve the issue and she opened an "investigation" with UPS, then told me I had to wait for UPS to respond. I finally received an email back from her and UPS stating that they delivered the items and had delivery acknowledge by "my name", was listed. This was an ABSOLUTE LIE. When I asked what and how was it acknowledged, neither could answer because I never signed anything and they never delivered anything. Ups just said the driver stated that he delivered. I have a ring system and there was NO delivery on my camera! UPS blamed Michaels and Michaels blame UPS. Ups says that Michaels is responsible and they could not give me any information they have to give it directly to Michaels. This borders on fraud! I will NEVER order anything from Michaels and I will tell everyone on social media and I recommend you do the same if you have had similar issues. Purchased a paint pen. It exploded. Brought it back, no refund. Purchased post it notes cute letter shaped ones. Brought it back, no refund. Their rules: Bring products back with receipt. UNOPENED. Now get this... there is a restocking fee. My question to the viewing public, WHY WOULD A SHOP RESTOCK A BROKEN, NON FUNCTIONING ITEM? To gain additional money from the shopper and stick some other sucker with the item. So not only do they get the restocking fee, they don't have to refund IN FULL, AND... they make the money back DOUBLE when they re-sell the item. WTH?! read more

I love Michaels. I have been getting all of my baking supplies there recently. All the pans are 40% off! I got donut pans, stacked cake pans, cookie sheets, cooling racks for under $50. I also love the candy melt molds they are super cute and add a special touch to my baking. The only bad thing I can say is there is always a line. read more

Worst Michaels experience EVER. Not a single person knew how to use an eyelet setter (not to mention, one of the employees didn't even know what an eyelet was until I showed her a picture). I asked one girl if she could find me someone who knew how to use the crop-a-dile, she said ok and had me stand around, waiting for about 5 minutes. I start walking and find her in an aisle on her cell phone. I look for another employee, and come across a gentleman and ask him if he knew how to use the setter, he says no and sends me to framing saying the girl in that department is an expert with the item. I go to her and she responds with a "I dont know why he sent you here when I know nothing about this item". REALLY? I then find the gentleman and ask him if they have gold, round sticker labels that can be embossed. He has no idea what I'm talking about. Pretty sure it's not a rare item in the arts&crafts world, so can someone tell me why not a single person in the store is somewhat educated on the product they're supposed to be selling? Don't come here if you have questions. You'll spend most of your time in the store looking for answers on Google. read more

So typically I don't do online shopping I prefer to go in store. But unfortunately they're closed. I depend on this store and their products to make a living because are just part of my business. I was forced to do curbside pickup shopping so I spent around $80 at 3 and it said 2 hours they'll text me let me know when it's ready. Never heard from him next day I emailed them they tell me one of my items is not ready they're going to refund me for one of the items but now it's been three and a half days since I've made the purchase for something that was supposed to be ready in 2 hours and I have not heard from Michaels I receive no calls no emails my account has been charged the full amount no credits for anything no refunds no calls no emails. VERY VERY VERY BAD! I would never recommend them. I needed a simple white matte making for a framed movie poster I had already purchased. This simple task, that Michaels had quoted would only take two days at the most, ended up taking 4 weeks! I still wasn't fully satisfied with the job, however I decided to cut my loses as I had lost all hope in the competency of the staff. The staff are rude, slow and seem to hold little to no care for the sub par work they do. They never called to let me know when they were finished, I had to call them (which tended to result in having to sit on hold for over 20 minutes at a time if you wanted to speak to anyone in the framing department) I went in three times during the 4 week period. The first time was 7 days after I had given them the frame and poster. After waiting 30 minutes in store the staff finally realized that they'd forgotten to make the matte. My second visit was a week later. On this visit I was shown the poster WITH matte, but the matte was jagged. After I pointed this out to the staff, I was told that the matte had been done but a previous staff member who'd quit and this was their last job (as if this was justification for the bad job). And on my last visit the white matte had black pen marks all over it, so they had to re-do it whilst I waited. Finally they showed me the finished matte, cut with straight lines and pen mark free; but I noticed that they'd marked the poster and smudged the glass, at this point I just gave up and took the poster off them. The worst part about the whole ordeal though was that not one staff member throughout the 4 week process even apologized once. read more

The customer service makes me rethink coming here. I always try to come in with a smile but I leave upset; I don't bother asking questions and I try to avoid the employees until checkout, unfortunately, there's no way to avoid the miserable checkout process. They seem inconvenienced to be working here, minimum wage aside, working at an art store should be fun, why do they work here if they don't care or know anything about arts and crafts? The whole place has bad vibes. The management is super rude to the employees in front of customers so it must be a trickle down effect. I can't blame them for walking around like zombies with management like that. Coaching should be done off the floor, and no one should be reprimanded for helping customers especially in front of a long line of customers at checkout, one of many other things wrong with this store.. If it was once, but every time I'm in there, some drama is happening making me not want to support this store. read more

After waiting through repeating prompts, someone answered the phone stating, "Thanks for calling Michaels, please hold" and did so. 16 1/2 minutes later I hug up and called back for the same response. WTF? Really? I don't want to call the store to begin with as I have only had bad experiences when I have had to deal with customer service or, the lack thereof. On Tuesday I call to asking about custom framing. The phone rings FOREVER, had to call back twice. On Wed I stop by after work to pick out custom frames 20x30 for my wedding photos, great selection and have promotion, but the service is terrible. I'm willing to spend thousands of dollars for at least 7 custom frames, I get the cold shoulder. I pick out frames to get quotes but yet Cait said I should bring the 7 photos that is 20x30 and several 8x10, so I needed to come back the next day, anyone can help. Next day rolls around, Thursday I come and two people are not experience to take measurements tells me to come back tomorrow when there is someone for custom framing. As I stand here, the phone continues to ring with no one answering. This experience is ridiculous! read more

Great customer service! I questioned my cashier about the price of an item and he immediately got someone to go do a price check. I was still suspicious so I asked to go check myself. He had the girl that did the price check wait for me and held my items until I got back. Additionally, he gave me a 20% coupon that he applied to my purchase. He was so helpful. I just cannot figure out why this store has received such low reviews on yelp? We had out of town visitors and needed things best purchased at Michaels so I checked yelp for the closest and perused the reviews. BTW, kuddos to the reviewer who tells you where to park at this location, she made it so much easier. I parked on the top level effortlessly and was pleased with the ease of getting in and out of the store. Once we got inside I found the store to have every conceivable item one can expect to find in a hobby, arts n crafts store. It's huge, has excellent amount of inventory and was organized and clean. We had to wait a bit in line to pay, not anything unusual living in LA, rarely enough cashiers. Overall I can say without a doubt this place was a pleasant surprise and I would recommend it to anyone. read more

Once i received an email confirmation that my order was delievered and signed for i went to pick up the order. After waiting for someone to help me find the order for almost 20 min, the manager, Alex, whose name was on my confirmation email as the person who signed for the package said they never received the package. He said he would look into it and give me a call back. Never called. Days later I call to follow up, Claudia is positive that Alex will call me the next day. Never called. pros: walking distance (to me), helpful staff (when you can find them), price scanners, coupons! cons: second floor parking I looooooooove Michaels. It's the perfect place to get creative, make that special someone a priceless, homemade gift or just browse all the latest in crafting trends. I like the coupons, esp when they let you STACK! Don't forget to browse and save the coupon on your phone. Sometimes service in the store can get spotty. My biggest beef is not the store (prob b/c I know it like the back of my hand now) but the structure parking! The second floor is so ill designed and Michaels is on the 3rd floor (tons of parking up there btw). Just be patient in waiting for that car to try to fit into a "compact" spot and you'll be fine. Buy some washi tape and let the stress go~ but be sure to use a coupon. read more

This location offers a great selection/inventory and the employees (although sometimes hard to find) are always helpful! I love Michaels, this is my go to store for all my creative ideas, wether it's arts and craft, school projects for my daughter or even gift ideas. Yesterday's visit was for a gift idea, this review was for the poor customer service I received. Wish I had gotten both girl's names.. Anyways asked the first salesgirl where their desk calendars were and her response was so quick "we don't carry desk calendars". Ok maybe she was a new hire wasn't quite sure of their inventory yet. I had just been online and the store showed stock. Had to get on my phone and show her what a desk calendar is and she said "oh that's all mixed up with the calendar organizers, it actually wasn't but thanks for your help. Girl at the register arguing with me on a basket I was buying that I told her was marked done 30% for their fall items and she insisted that was for summer items only. She had someone go check THE TWO AISLES ALL FILLED WITH FALL ITEMS AND CLEARLY HAS SIGNS POSTED 30%OFF. Thank you ladies for a epic shopping experience. Word of advice walk through your store maybe during your own time just to see ALL YOUR INVENTORY AND MARKED DOWN INVENTORY, so you can have the correct saleslady experience next time a customer ask a question. read more

Went to the Olympic & Sawtelle store to look for frames since Michaels took over the Aron Bros. It's a miserable selection of very limited frames & mattes. It seems they only took over the really cheap looking frames or those for certificates, i.e. no design to speak of - just square edged plain choices. Nobody seemed to know what's going on - will they get more frames of different styles & designs? What happened to all the frames that were supposed to come over to Michaels? They also have only cheap, barely-hold-up-the-photo, wall mountings that look like they'd fall apart at the first touch. And no one is there to help that has any knowledge of what's available, let alone actually framing it. Very disappointing. read more
