Michaels is mostly a student and crafters shop however you can get a limited amount of professional grade artist supplies in person which is what I was looking for during my most recent visit. I was disappointed that the Daniel Smith paint Buy one get one for 50% off had ended the day before because I had several colors that I wanted to try. They didn't have all the colors that I wanted in stock so I picked three that they did have and then signed up for text messages which gave me a 25% off my entire purchase. I am glad that they have a bricks and mortar presence here in Milford, CT because its a different kind of store that gives choices for crafters, knitters, scrapbook makers and others who, like me, want to see what you are getting rather than buying on line. read more

For context I'm writing this review during the COVID-19 quarantine... We just had our first child, and they either no longer do or because of the quarantine (everything was crazy at the hospital, my husband almost couldn't even stay with me) we didn't get our child's footprints. So I decided to order washable ink so we could do our own footprints. Our pediatrician strictly told us to avoid going out unless it's necessary, so I was VERY excited to see that Michaels offered curbside and had partnered with a delivery service. I found a couple inks and ordered them. Shortly after I got a phone call because they were out of one of the colors. I called back (but having a newborn it wasn't until after my order was technically supposed to be delivered) and let them know what I was trying to do, and I was flexible with why they had if it was washable and preferably a shade of blue. When I got my order, they put in a hand written note and gave us a few extra pads since the order was late (but again it was late because I took so long to respond). It was so unbelievably nice!! Outstanding customer service and something that will stick with me. And of course I was able to get my baby's footprints, so I couldn't be happier. read more

Only giving this location 2 stars because their prices were great and the store is huge. I was just there and spent well over $200. I also purchased 40 Gildan Shirts. I bought them to the register in the cardboard box they are on display in. The cashier took them out of the box after scanning and balled them up and threw them in a shopping bag. I asked the cashier if I can take the little cardboard box and she said yes. Then the elderly woman who is a manger(?) interrupted and said "no absolutely not." I ordered two Christmas gifts for pickup in store. The condition of the Etch a Sketch box and its item that was received was horrible, disgusting - the box was all taped up with scotch tape. The Etch a Sketch looked used. I will never ever use this service again and most likely not go back to this store. What kind of employee does that? Someone obviously that doesn't care. I went to return an item. The woman said it wasn't on the receipt do I have another one. I said no I was just here this morning at 10:00 a.m. it's on that receipt. Like I literally haven't even been home yet. She said while it's not on here. I said well it's not my fault if it wasn't rung up correctly but this is the receipt from this morning it has the date on the bottom. I bought it off of that rack (I pointed) and that person rung me out (I pointed) and that person came over and said that it's not on the receipt and asked if I have another receipt. I again said no and he said well it's not on there. and I said well that's not my problem. I can't help that it wasn't done correctly. I said it was this one and was the santa one. and I want to return just this one they said was not on the receipt. And they continue giving me attitude like I did something wrong. Please, if I'm trying to get away with some big scam I'm not going to wait in line for 15 minutes to get 4 dollars and 19 cents after an additional 5 mins in arguements. Anyway, a 3rd person came over and said it's not on the receipt . He said there was only one item on the receipt and I said apparently it was rung incorrectly. And that there are two items it says 2 @ 4.19 . he asked if I had a different receipt. I said no it was this receipt. this is what I was given this morning I can't help if it wasn't rung incorrectly. He told me to not give attitude and retail workers need to be treated with respect and to stop yelling. I said so do I and I'm not yelling. Like sorry not sorry if I'm now mad at this point. it shouldn't be my problem that it was not rung correctly. The first two people should have treated me with respect. There was a huge line at 10 this morning and, maybe the person didn't look close enough to realize they were different, or maybe he decided to try to cut corners and rang one it twice. whatever the reason, it is not my fault so do not give me attitude about it. I get that these people are stretched due to the holiday season and the pandemic but management needs to understand how to schedule better so that these kind of accidents don't happen, they need to train better so that people aren't cutting corners and scanning two different products that have two different SKUs as the same product, they need to hire better with people who give better customer care. so if someone goes to try to return it they are not being given attitude that they can't return it because it's a different and not on the receipt because of a mistake by their staff. Go ahead, check your cameras from this morning. The receipt says 1019am. I had a really great experience in early November with some really lovely ladies with a pickup order one night but after that experience this afternoon it's going to take a lot for me to come back here to buy something. Additionally, today I was walking to my car and noticed the item was cracked so I went inside to exchange it and saw a woman that worked there. The line was still long so I showed her the receipt showed her the cracked one and showed her a non-cracked one and asked her if I could just exchange it and she said yes. I had seen a friend outside so I had headed back in at 1026 am so that was probably around 1028-1030am. The return was at 13:06 according to the receipt. And the guy was wrong, retail workers shouldn't be treated with respect. ALL PEOPLE SHOULD. So how it should have went down? "Miss, I understand you said you bought this item this morning. And I see here on your receipt that this is from this morning. Did you by any chance have two separate transactions this morning because for some reason I don't see this item on this receipt. But I'd like to help you solve this this problem." That would keep the line of communication open. That would have not escalated the situation. That would not have made the customer felt like they had done something wrong. That would have kept a customer. UPDATE: I wanted to add that while I was being berated and belittled and being told that I needed to show some respect and I was sticking up for myself and saying that I deserve respect to and the poor treatment continued I began to cry and the treatment did not change and it continued until that 3rd person walked away and the first person handed me my money in silence and I left. I'm an arts educator and Michael's is often my go to for supplies. The deals are good, but the prices are a bit high to start with. I've never had a bad staff experience, but I have had a few instances of items that I needed not being stocked despite being very common items. I am a loyal customer to this store. I sometimes spend hundreds of dollars a week here. My mother and I had to grab some last minute items tonight. We knew exactly what we wanted and knew it wouldn't take long. We walked in at 8:40. The employee standing there rudely yelled at us "You know we close in 15 minutes, right?!" I didn't get her name but she was a lot older. My mom almost didn't go in because of it. We were the only customers in the store. They loudly announced two or three times that the store was closing soon. When we were at the register, the rude employee was telling everyone to lock the doors and clock out so that they could be out at 9, which is when the store is supposed to be closing. They made us feel so uncomfortable and rushed. We were in the car by 8:50, still with 10 minutes to spare if we were finishing up shopping. This has never happened before and I hope it doesn't happen again. If the store closes at 9, that's when we should have to leave. Not before that. read more

I went to the store last night to buy an adult coloring book for my niece. I had called the Waterbury store to see if they carried it because that is closer to my house, but the Milford store was on the way to my niece's party. Anyway, the Waterbury store told me right away that they carried this item, but the Milford store had no clue what I was talking about and they were very rude. I had to call back 3 times until I found someone with an IQ above 10. When I got there, an employee was standing at the door talking to someone about personal stuff. I asked her to see if she had this item. She was very rude because I guess I interrupted her conversation. I will never go to that Michael's again and am going to contact corporate about it. read more
