Being on vacation in the Morro Bay / Paso Robles wine area and had an accidental dropping of my eye glasses in the B&B we were staying at. The frames broke with a broken screw. They were progressive glasses, so they were for both for reading and driving. So kind had a problem. I'm a Kaiser member on medicare and senior avantage. So my eye glasses are cover by Kaiser. But the only problem there's no Kaiser facility in the Paso Robles, San Luis Obispo or Morro Bay Area. On to Yelp to see if we could find emergency services for the in area. "Michael's Optical"came up with many pleasant comments that they help people in the past with emergency problems. So my wife gave them a call to make sure they were open and if they could hep me. They thought they could help me in my situation. We were in and out of the store in about 15 minutes. They fix my eye glasses and made what I thought was going to a very uncomfortable day driving home into a pleasant drive. They staff was very nice and very understanding of the situation. Five star service, friendly and fast. Best of all they didn't even charge for the repair. Highly recommend for emergency eye glasses repair. read more

Walked in last Saturday morning with a broken frame for progressive lenses I had purchased through Costco. Kim was professional, knowledgeable and very helpful. She warned that the nature of my lenses might have to be measured to assure that the frames would work appropriately. She spent time finding a frame she thought would work. I love her choice of frames and they function wonderful. I also will add I dropped in on my father's recommendation. A few weeks earlier he took frames in with a broken nose pad. I bought a pair of rimless glasses 1 1/2 months ago for $486. They have fallen apart three times at connected arms to glasses at drill sights, which were drilled too large and defective. I can only get another pair next year through my insurance. Michael's Optical in the Atascadero location refuses to give me store credit. I'm now forced to purchase via GlassesUSA.com; I've bought glasses through GlassesUSA.com for the past five years and have no defects or mechanical failure problems, unlike Michael's Optical in Atascadero. It is overpriced as it is. I can't afford to have to purchase from Michael's optical another pair of glasses in less than a few months and become unable to wear or adequately fix them as properly Michael's lab as I was charged an additional $48 for a drilling fee, which resulted in too large holes to hold together adequately. I've purchased rimless through GlassesUSA.com for much less money. Unfortunately, my insurance only goes through optometry offices. I don't know why Michael's won't give the store credit; the Atascadero location office staff told me to be careful with their pair as I'm accused of their coming apart. Michael's Optical needs to take responsibility and grant my $486 credit. read more

Best medical service I've experienced to date. Honestly. From when I called to get an eye exam appt for myself and my husband, all the way through the actual exam, prescription and purchase of glasses. The office staff was very friendly and prompt, Dr. Hopper was also very friendly, super thorough and we didn't experience any pressure at all to purchase any glasses from them. I will never do business with Michael optical again.Lesson learned doesn't mean I spent $315.00 for a pair of a prescription sunglasses I get a better durable lens.I still have my old prescription sunglasses from Costco that lasted 2 years without a single scratch and this expensive pair already had scratches in a month .Would have thought after Spending almost $700.00 on two pair of sunglasses within 2 months they would have at least offered to do a one time replacement since I just got it on 10/08/19.Terrible customer service. read more

I recently sat on a pair of prescription RayBan sunglasses (that I didn't purchase at Michael's) and brought them to Michael's to see if they could be repaired. A very helpful and friendly gentleman (I didn't get his name) told me what was needed to fix them, and that he would try his best, even thought the parts might not be available. He told me it might take about a week or so. I was so pleasantly surprised when I got a call two days later that said they were repaired, and the cost was amazingly reasonable. I came here for an eye exam and my first ever pair of glasses, and could not have asked for a better experience. The eye doctor is kind, smart and funny. He's great at making patients feel comfortable as he tests your vision and figures out what prescription works for you. He listens to his patients to understand their needs, not just their eyesight. In addition, he's great at making patients relaxed for kind of unnerving tests like the little glaucoma stick. The staff up front were super helpful, too. They helped me pick out a frame I liked, and listened to my requests (absolutely no rhinestones, for instance) while also making trendy recommendations. I ended up picking out some black cat eyes that look super great on me. In addition, they have a special program for people whose insurance doesn't cover most of the cost. My insurance would have covered 15 percent of the frames, but they offered me a better discount. I'm super pleased with the service and my new glasses. Thanks, Michael's Optical! read more

I cant say enough about Michaels Optical in Atascadero. From day 1 I received nothing but the best customer service. The glasses I wanted had all the bells and whistles. However for some reason they just weren't working for me. I had transitions, progressive etc etc. I could see far and close but the intermediate made it very difficult for me to see. EVERYONE that I dealt with made this situation the easiest pain in the eyes ever!. I even received a call from Kim letting me know that I had randomly popped in her head and she checked my account only to see that we had to send my glasses back in for another adjustment. If you can find a better place to go, one that calls just to see if you are liking your glasses I commend you. If you cant find a place that takes customer service and your eyes serious go to Michaels Optical. I wish I could remember all the girls names that I had the pleasure of working with.
