I like to try new places instead of going to the same ol restaurants, day in and day out. My gf and I were at Brookfield zoo and decided to go out for breakfast. This place is very close and had good reviews so we had to try it. First there is easy parking nearby. The place is very discreet and the inside is very classic dinner, nothing fancy but it appears clean. We were greeted promptly by friendly staff and sat almost immediately on a weekend. Service was fast, staff were attentive and nice. The food... Large portions, but very good food and very fair prices. I ordered the buffalo chicken wrap with soup. My gf ordered a broccoli cheddar omelette. She rated the omelette as a 3/5 "ok" but stating she doesn't know how to make it more amazing so her rating is not counted. Lol My rating would be 3/5 for food. Huge portions and great food but the wrap is missing something to make it less saucy, the lettuce was find but it added to it falling apart. Either way it was amazing. The downside were the fries. Nothing special, maybe from a bag. Food and portions overall would be 4/5. Service 5/5. read more

We love Michael's and have been coming here for breakfast ever since it opened! Service is consistently friendly, kind, great with kiddos and attentive. You can't beat being greeted after a long night by kind people in the morning! The food is also consistently delicious. Their skillets have so many eggs. So many. I think the skillet has 4 eggs, and you FEEL IT. One could EASILY share an entire skillet and be full without issue. I'm a creature of habit, and I get the Mediterranean Omelette without olives every time. Great amount of chicken and veggies, so I normally bring some back home for later! Nicely cooked hash browns with over easy eggs on top? Yes please! All day. Kiddo always gets the Mickey Mouse pancake. One pancake easily feeds 2 kiddos, and they cook their bacon perfectly every single time. The bacon isn't burnt, but it is that perfect golden crispy that makes my arteries scream The pancake is nice and fluffy, standard syrup and butter, but the pancake smells sweet and delicious, and my kiddo devours it every single time! Hubby gets something each time he goes. Last time he got the potato pancake Benedict, and even with an appetite he could only finish half of it. Delicious in every way, and plenty filling! Sister-in-law gets the strawberry Belgian waffle, and it is love at first sight each time she gets it! Add a little whipped cream and your joy will increase nicely! They have specials regularly, great prices, VERY delicious soups per my hubby, especially the Cream of Potato and Rice soup, great service, and they just expanded, so more space for the masses! Doesn't look fancy, but oh so good! Met some friends in downtown Riverside with a visit to the Higgins Glass Studio on our agenda, and decided to grab some lunch first. Most of the big restaurants were closed, but Michael's Pancake House was open. Despite its hole-in-the-wall look from the outside, great Yelp reviews tempted us in. We were not disappointed. Michael's restaurant is not fancy, but it's sparkling clean, and we were greeted right away by the friendly staff (all family from what I understand). The menu is huge...and if we hadn't had our minds set on breakfast, we would have had a difficult time choosing what to eat. I ordered the mushroom cheese omelette, my friends had the waffle and Michael's special (eggs, pancakes, bacon, juice). It all came out super fast...and it was all hot and delicious. I met a friend for "brunch" and this place is very convenient and I have been here before so it was my suggestion. I find it to be reasonable, good service and a great variety with a very low key vibe! Anyway, I ended up having breakfast which I've had before and my friend had a wrap which seems to be popular on the menu. No pics !!! My husband goes here frequently because the food is good and not very expensive. It's a mom and pop type restaurant and although the servers are nice they are not very attentive. I didn't know the portions are this big so next time I will order accordingly. My vegetarian skillet was really good and just huge! The restaurant has 2 separate dining areas, a few paintings scattered around the place that are for sale. The front entrance isn't very appealing but it's clean, just darkly lit. I go to Michael's when I want to treat myself. They offer an extensive menu, but I tend to focus on the omelets, even though the other items sound delicious as well. They have a long list of omelets with a wide variety of add-ins, each being given an appropriate name. They also offer a number of sides, but I always ask for the grits, since they are delicious, and I love putting a bit of the coffee creamer and some pats of butter in them, with a bit of salt and pepper to make them taste the way I want them. Beyond the sides, they also offer either pancakes or French toast. You'd better have a big appetite if you get the pancakes with the omelet; but the French toast adds only slightly less volume to the generous meal. Their coffee is great, too! read more

This is a relatively new restaurant my family and I stopped at. The inside is pretty cramped and small as a fair warning. However, the staff was very friendly and the food came out insanely fast! The prices are reasonable. The corned beef hash skillet was amazing! The cheese omelet, French toast, and pancakes were also good! The others said there's were just okay. I think for what you're going for, it delivers. I also saw a lot of door dash orders going out so I would recommend giving this place a go! read more

This restaurant is probably one of our favorite cozy places to go to on the weekends. This is a family owned restaurant and you get that feeling walking right into the front door. The servers are amazing and tend to all your needs. The food is delicious and amazing and you get giant portions. Try the steak and eggs or the biscuits and gravy. They also do a great eggs Benedict. Eating here reminds me of eating at someone's home. You can feel the love in the food. read more

Jen helped us navigate through the huge menu and so friendly her customer service went beyond. Small local restaurant downtown with parking. Homemade salsa you have to try the fresh green salsa. First time here today with a couple friends and we loved it. I ordered eggs, hash browns, sausage links, and toast. One friend ordered the patty melt with fries, and the other friend ordered the Mexican burrito with a side salad. Portions were great for the price. The coffee was strong and delicious. We were too full to order dessert but I did see they offered flan and tres leches as well as other options. The place is small, but the service was amazing and every came out relatively quickly. 10/10 will come back. read more

Great food. Service was great. It's a quaint and cozy place, I would go again, but not with a group of people like I did previously. We had a party of 6. But the staff did a great job with us and the food was great. I like how they mixed the cheese in with my eggs. You know how some places just slap the cheese over the eggs and it looks messy- well they did not do that. Downtown riverside was kinda creepy tho. Looked like we were visiting Mulberry or something. The ambience is simple and no nonsense; nothing fancy about it. The menu options are extensive. My wife and I loved our breakfast burritos (American and Mexican, respectively). She did not care for her hash browns (they were "mushy," she asked for crispy) but my grits were fine. We shared an order of fluffy, yummy pancakes. The service was outstanding; staff were spot on attentive. A mandatory test, in my mind, for a breakfast place is coffee, is it good and does it keep coming. I ordered the Eggs Benedict. Fries. Garlic on the Benedict and Coffee. The menu is huge. And should be pared down. You can't do everything great. The Hollandaise sauce needs some work as it was runny. Not thick and creamy. So that's a miss. Plus, there are no ketchup bottles at each table. By far the biggest disappointment was the coffee. 3.25 for a cup of coffee that tastes like a 300000 mile oil change out of my car. My Keurig makes better coffee, and so does Starbucks. Plus, there are flies and bugs flying around. The ambiance needs some improvement. I was glad to see you had Fresh Garlic. I would have chopped it finer and made the presentation a little neutering the plate before you serve it. Additionally, there should be napkins on the table. Not just wrapped with the utensils. There looks like there are plenty of people idle that can address these issues and make this place and the food better quickly. I'd give it a 5.5 out of 10 for now. You had Tabasco and Fresh Garlic or the score would have been lower. I'll be looking forward to seeing some improvements! read more

This is a great little diner in downtown Riverside it will not disappoint. It is tiny, family run, and everything We have had has been very good. It is nice to have a restaurant with so many options here in Riverside. We recently ordered dinner here and the kids loved the ability to order waffles while my husband and I enjoyed a cheeseburger and a patty melt.
