This is a satisfactory Michaels store. I stopped in here to buy cardstock for some baby shower invitations and I was pleased to find it on sale. I just wish they sold it in reams of one color and not the variety pack. You'd think with such a large scrapbooking section they would have a bigger selection of solid-color cardstock but they don't. The woman at the register was friendly. There is another Michaels store closer to my home but I would return to this one if I was in the area. read more

If I have some free time to roam the halls of this place I will when the crafting spirit takes hold of me. I can usually find great bargains on their discount aisles for holiday inspired ideas or DIY projects. As I like to make homemade ornaments for the winter time, I scored 6 1/2 dozen sets of to-be-designed glass ornaments for 97 cents each. To fill them I bought enough decorative glitter, sparkly beads, and glass paint to cover each one with for under 8 bucks. With a discount coupon, I walked away with enough ornaments made to gift to my workplace's staff (36 folks!) for under 20! Of course, I had to spend the time seeking the deals but I love that I can create something endearing and not dent my holiday budget. read more

Love this Michael's location. They have tons of parking and lots of coupons you can get on the website and at checkout. Store is easily accessible for handicapped patrons. The store is always clean and has a friendly work staff who have helped me find many things in their store. Bathroom was clean and the checkout line has never been more than 10min. read more

I go to michaels pretty regularly for all my crafts and last weekend Mickey was our cashier. Not once did she say hello and when she bagged my things she shoved delicate things in the bag to make it fit. So rude some of the leaves and decorations on the garlands came off from her shoving it in the bag.Horrible service. read more

I went in just get some frames for paintings I purchased and needed to get measurements and frame size suggestions. Jazmyn helped me out and he was extremely helpful! He told me all my options on what I could do to make them look good. I went with a little unconventional way for one of them and he showed me how to stretch the canvas and tape it down. He also cut down some matting for me that was too big for a frame. I'll definitely go to him again with any more questions about framing! He was fantastic! read more

I was entering the restrooms and I went into the stall and there was a uncapped syringe with an exposed needle on the toilet seat! If I had not seen it I would have sat down and likely gotten aids! Other then that the store is great and has good blank t-shirts! read more

This store offers a different selection of products as the santa rosa store (it seems to me) and I like it better. The lines are shorter, the parking is a bit easier. I don't like how the check out area is designed as its a bit too open and you don't know where the wait, and I don't like the the prices of some items seam higher than the s.r. store. NONE of this may be true at all, but that is what I have personally experienced shopping there multiple times. read more

Its nice to have a crafts store in Petaluma, however the customer service here is AWFUL!! Staff is NOT helpful and very slow at the register! They are not knowledgeable about their products and when I called ahead on the phone to ask if they carried a particular item, the woman said she wasn't sure. She did not offer to go check or ask someone else. I probed a bit further and her answer was still, "not sure". So I assumed they were busy, no harm, right?? I'll just go in and look myself! I walked into the store about 10 minutes later and IT WAS DEAD! Maybe one other customer in the store!! All three sales-people were leaning again the counter talking about weekend plans!! NO ONE EVEN GREETED ME! I quickly left, disgusted by their lack of service! Save yourself a headache...don't go! read more

I want to give this place five stars, but sometimes the service can be iffy from time to time. The prices on some things are a little over priced. However, I am always excited to go into this store! They have a huge selection of arts and crafts. I like the amount of colorful paper they have and stickers. I often come here to buy pieces of paper to write a fancy letter. I also like the fact that they carry a fair amount of coloring books for adults. My favorite line is creative haven, which they carry...and for a decent price! I also like the jewelry pieces they carry. I have bought several cameos for a very good price! However, I do not recommend getting your sketch books or notebooks from here. SUPER overpriced. You can get sketchbooks and notebooks for FAR better deals at the Petaluma SRJC bookstore...literally half the price! read more

Not exactly a "bad" store; in fact, Michael's is probably THE place to go for certain crafts like scrapbooking or tole painting. But I am a painter and their art supply department leaves much to be desired. They seem to be perpetually under-stocked or sold out of common items. They also carry an extremely low-quality line of art materials that I would urge even beginning artists to avoid. The sales staff seems friendly enough but there seems to be a similar problem: understaffing. If you are serious about your painting, you would be well advised to shop elsewhere. read more

This store has been recently "remodeled", the check out stations have been changed. I was actually approached by a clerk who asked me if I had found everything I needed! That's NEW! This store is one of the friendliest Michael's I have been in, an I have been in many, many! The Yuba City store is the very best one I have frequented, the Vacaville store is one of the worst, in terms of being a mess and having an unfriendly, unhelpful staff. I think that the clerks are so busy unpacking boxes and changing "seasonal" promotions that they are unwilling to answer questions. This seems to be a regular part of all of their stores. If so, why not have some other way of helping people, like a monitor used in some bookstores (what bookstores anymore???) or libraries used to locate some of the millions of sku's. I don't really need help on product information, just locating them. Michael's in general is NOT known as a friendly, helpful place, it's just known as the only place in town to purchase craft supplies. Too bad. I will say that recently they have added lots of artist's canvas, and they are having a great sale on that right now. For art supplies, I go to Riley Street in Santa Rosa, or make purchases online, if it's not immediately necessary. I don't mind paying a bit more if I have technical questions, Riley Street has the answers, and they are very friendly (recent months). For yarn there are lots of other great choices nearby and knowledgeable helpers. Beverly's is really a much more friendly craft supply store, with very friendly helpers and it is always neat and organized. read more

Customer service has to be very bad for me to expend the energy to write a review...SHAME on you Michaels....really!? Absolutely the worst customer service and lame attempt at signage. Sale sign clearly posted said 50% off, directly above the floral arrangement my husband and I were interested in. And there were several of these items on the same shelf. Get to the cashier, which there was only ONE cashiering w/ at least 6 people behind. And growing because we disputed the price of the arrangement. Cashier's walkie wasn't working, so I walked over to show another clerk the sign...she says that's the way corporate wants us to sign it.........I very much doubt that. At the very least I would have liked them to honor the posted price and act as if they cared. Could not have acted any more bored with their job if they tried. In any event, we left our shopping cart w/ the clerk, and the cart had several items in it. No sale here. As if they cared....very unfortunate. read more

Really nice staff at this store. They will ofter help or gladly provide help if you ask. I like that there is a huge selection of DMC floss and aida cloth to chose from. They also have some charts at the side at the end of the aisle towards the wall. read more

We went during the Halloween season and scored some GREAT deals for the 4 yr. old twins. They had a craft project but it ended at 12 and we didn't arrive until 1pm. Carolina was SOOO SWEET and offered to let us make one in the craft room with her. It only cost $2.50! The handprinted t-shirt spider webs are adorable and I will always go back to Michaels bc they went above and beyond to help out this exhausted momma of twins! :) read more

I really like Michael's. I do ... I am here about once a week. But it's getting so ridiculous I finally have to say something. I am not exaggerating when I say LITERALLY EVERY TIME I make a purchase in this store (and their are sale/markdown items involved), I am over charged. When the item is hanging on the hook or sitting in the shelf marked at one price, and it rings for a different price THAT IS ILLEGAL! Ask weights and measures! It is to the point that when I buy ANY ITEM that is marked down I take a picture of the sign so I can show the cashier. Today it was paper: over charge by $0.20 a piece. Last week onesies, marked $3.99 rang up as $8.99. A few weeks ago some wooden paintables marked $3.99 rang up $5.99. It as happened aprox 10-15 times now. And it makes me wonder how many times I haven't noticed and just over paid. Seriously. Try it!! Grab 50 items ... Fill up a basket of "sale" stuff. I will bet you money you get over charged. Soooooo annoying, wrong, and illegal. I am usually not a dick, but I am going to call weights and measures about this so they can investigate- because it's just bad business practice. read more

I went here for the first time a week ago and it was the best Micheal's I have gone too. There is so much to choose from and the shelves were full I was surprised. The clearance sections were great. It was the biggest one I have gone too as well. I would definitely return to this store again. read more

My friend Jennifer needed a picture framed and super fast. She went to Michaels and Charles helped her out. She was freaked out because she feels like she doesn't know how to match matting with a frame and her picture. He helped her match her picture and rushed it so she could mail it in time.
