Pizza pizza! If you are looking for great pizza this is the spot! This nice pizza joint offers yummy pizzas and huge calzones! My bf and I have ordered to go and have also dined in many times. It's our go to spot. The pizza is always cooked perfectly with the right amount of sauce and toppings. They have a fully stocked fridge filled with soft drinks and potato chips to purchase. We always seem to order pepperoni with olives which never disappoints. The slices of pepperoni are nice and big and very good. They have the option of ordering either a small pizza or large and we always finish a large no problem between the both of us. I've been going to Michael's Pizza for a while. Every time I call I ask them not to over cook it but they don't listen. I bring the pizza home because I don't want to complain or give them hard time. I finally decided to try Michael's pizza after driving by this place for several years now, just didn't feel enticed enough to stop here till now. However, with all the coronavirus situation engulfing our lives, I decided to try Michael's pizza for lunch, as I have been trying many small businesses around the area. When I looked at the menu, it ominously reminded me of a bad takeout place in King of Prussia, PA. But my personal association with a place in another state shouldn't really objectively affect my choices. I went online and decided to "text my order". Given that I consider my phone to be my soul, texting the order in seemed great (and an attractive value proposition). The ordering experience was very easy. I got the small three topping pizza with grilled chicken, mushroom and garlic. I went there to get the takeout, but had to wait out for a few minutes. I saw the pizza being taken out of the oven and added to the pizza box. I took it and drove home to eat it. The pizza was a little greasy, and there was a lot of cheese on it. The grilled chicken meat was fine, I wouldn't say it broke any significant ground, but it was not terrible, so I'd say it was acceptable. The mushroom and flavoring were also fine but not spectacular. Overall, the pizza was fine. Is this the best pizza have I ever had? Definitely not. Is this the worst pizza I've ever had? Definitely not (I have had some pretty bad pizza). Did it remind me of the pizza from the takeout in King of Prussia? Not really, this was better and less greasier. I didn't quite like the crust of the pizza I got from here and I didn't like the overload of cheese on it. In comparison to other places I've been to, this place would be average. The price is definitely good compared to some of the other places around, though. I paid a total of about $11 for a small pizza with 3 toppings, which is not bad. Will I consider this place again? Probably not, as I can get better quality pizza to my liking around Watertown/Belmont/Cambridge. Note that they have a big menu, and I would've liked to try the spinach and feta pie (spanakopita), and also the homemade rice pudding. So my review here is based on the pizza I ordered only. If I do feel like trying those, and I do, I will make sure I update my review. read more

Wow the pizza is amazing. It should be considered a crime of how just the mere thought of indulging in this hot pie makes your mouth water and jaw clench. I usually order a green pepper and mushroom or eggplant pizza, top it with fries and see how much of it I can eat in 30 mins or less. I can eat this pizza everyday and never get tired of it. Michael's is a tiny, little, corner store front, at a very busy intersection. Once you find parking (unless you are local and can walk there), you're good to go. Stayed in the area for a while recently, so I've had multiple opportunities to partake of Michael's various menu items. I have, of course, tried their Greek-style pizzas. The sauce is sweet and tangy, the crust is soft, with a perfectly crusty edge. And the toppings are always fresh. Not as much grease as many other pizza joints. I've had the pepperoni, pepper & onion, sausage, meatball, and veggie pizzas. Each has been very tasty. On several visits, I have enjoyed their steak and cheese subs, meatball subs, and Italian subs. The rolls can be grilled if that's your thing. The meatball subs were very good. The sauce was sweet, and not overbearing, and the meatballs were perfectly cooked. The steak & cheese is my favorite (with grilled onions, ketchup, and a little ground pepper). Only once was the steak slightly overcooked for my liking. But, even then, it was tasty. The Italian sub was also filled with fresh deli meats, and served with a smile. Their salads are fresh, and I have yet to try a calzone or their wraps. All of their portions are hearty, not skimpy, and not too huge. It's a tiny place, with three booths, and about 4 two-top tables. It has that typical neighborhood feel, not fancy, but get-in, get-out, simplicity, whether you stay in to eat, or take your food to go. They always seem to be busy, with in-store patrons, phone orders, on-line orders and text orders (very technology-accepting). The staff is very pleasant and patient. I will definitely continue my excursions to Michael's. Highly recommended. read more

I love this place! The house special is incredible ( especially personal size) and this is everything your neighborhood takeout pizza joint should be. In a rush at work trying to fit in my lunch time I bombed down the street to where I remembered there being a sub shop. There on the corner was my stomach's savior. Oddly enough when I walked in, it looked like nobody worked there! Instead of focusing intently on the mis-matched menu board, I gawked around looking for somebody to tell my order to, as if I already knew what I wanted. Three kids then appeared behind the counter. Asked me hurriedly what I wanted. I got all kinds of flustered and spat out "Tuna? Um, Salad." One looked up at me, almost a sad look on his face, but instead of saying "oh, you must be a little soft..." he said "Like a garden salad, with tuna on top?" to my surprise he felt the need to mime it too. Please don't ask what 'garden salad' looks like... I grabbed a Gatorade and water out of the multitude of coolers they had and paid just under 11 dollars for lunch. I guess it's not really THAT expensive... The guy asked me for 21.00 instead of just the twenty I had handed him. I'm not sure what the difference is, I always tip, so at least a buck fifty was going to them anyways... My whole experience was very odd. When my salad was made it was placed on the counter and all three disappeared around an oven. No time to ask if everything was in there, nothing. I'm more curious about what I was keeping them from than anything else. I was happy with my Tuna Salad Salad in the end. The dressing was good, which makes a world of difference in my book. I've been going off and on since around the time they opened, '97 or so. It's run by the same family as Gregory's, the more well-known Belmont pizza/subs place. It is close to identical food, Greek style pizza. The subs are excellent value, and you get the choice of toasted or cold. The fact that I won't go anywhere else for an Italian when I'm in the area, (I like the pepper and egg sub too), says something either to nostalgia, habit, or value. Also to be mentioned is that for sausage topping (or in subs) they use sliced Italian sausage-none of that english breakfast crap. In summary, don't come from out of town, but if you're in the area, about as good as it gets for a neighborhood pizza/subs joint. read more

This isn't the type of place I frequent or would go out of my way to visit but my SO insisted on a steak bomb so we ordered one from here because it's literally up the street from us. I was hesitant to try it but in my hunger I did and boy was it good. Next time we ordered we added fries to the order and those were even better. Then I got laid off and needed comfort food that day so I picked up a pizza there and a jar of Nutella at Shaw's. Turns out their pizza is amazing too - although a bit on the greasy side. Last time we had some friends over and they wanted to order out so we recommended Michaels. We got onion rings, salads, steak bombs, cheese sticks, and fries. Everything was to die for. Don't misunderstand my review, the pizza was good, limited choices in the area, I ordered a slice. (As is requisite in a pizza shop) and was happy with it in every way.. I should have stuck with pizza, the grilled marinated chicken came with fries or rice, I neglected to choose, and I received fries.. (My mistake... But because there was a choice it wouldn't have hurt to be asked.. Again, I'm no amateur so I take the blame) so much for a healthier option.. Lol. The grilled chicken was fairly dry and more seasoned than marinated.. They use the standard tenders but small ones dry out quickly on the "griddle".. I must have driven by this place a million times, but I just got around to trying it yesterday. Michael's is a small pizza/sub joint on the corner of Belmont and Grove St with a family business feel. Nice cozy space but not claustrophobic, this place only seats maybe 18 people max with two booths and a few tables. WARNING: there is no bathroom here! The guys were nice enough to let us go behind the counter (one by one) to use their water closet (quite literally a closet), but you have to avoid the hot oil coming out of the fryer and workers. As for the pizza, it was hot and fresh, with the crust on the thicker, crispier side (think Pizza Hut without the glistening grease). Great gooey cheese and good selection of toppings, but it's on the bland side and the sauce could stand to be significantly more tangy. Stick to the saltier toppings, like bacon and pepperoni here. Pretty good, crispy wings, though they are on the smaller side and tend to be over-fried a little bit. I liked the new spicy fries; not a single one was left after our group was done with it. The food came out quick and piping hot, and the price was right. So if you need some pizza, try Michael's. If you want wings, go down the street to Olympic Pizza. read more

This very clean and friendly sub and pizza shop sits on the line between Watertown and Belmont and is very near to the Cambridge line. Like many such shops in that area, the owners are Greek and Greek posters decorate the walls. Their pizza is not like Regina's at all, but is made in these pans rather than on a sheet. I really like the result and will stop by for a slice for lunch if i am in the area. I could understand if it's not everyone's cup of tea. Michael's also gets points as they make good subs, always ask if you want your cheese toasted on your roll and are generous with their portions.
