I was pointed towards Stone Hearth Pizza by one of my colleagues who lives the area. I decided to give this place a try. They are known for their thin crust pizza. I decided to order pizza for takeout from Stone Hearth. I decided to order a regular size (12") of the chicken pesto pizza (whole wheat, added Thai peppers) and the junior (9") sweet hearth pizza (without the bacon). The order was ready on time and the staff seemed friendly as I picked it up. Both the pizzas tasted well, and I'd say I liked both of them. The sweet hearth pizza has roasted butternut squash, bacon (got mine without it), fontina cheese, goat cheese, scallions with sautéed red onions. I thought I may not like the sweet hearth but I was surprised because I really liked it! If I order from Stone Hearth again, which I probably will, I will definitely get the sweet hearth. I know that everyone has a different taste. Some people like thicker crusts with a lot of cheese, some like it thinner. I tend to prefer mine to be on the thinner side, though not incredibly thin, and I believe that Stone Hearth was able to offer me this in their pizza. While I was very satisfied with the pizza, the price did seem a little on the higher side. It cost me about $17 for the 12" chicken pesto pizza and about $10 for the 9" sweet hearth pizza. I tend to have a big appetite and usually can eat a whole 16" pizza by myself. While the price won't stop me, if I find better pizza at a similar or better price, I will likely go for that. read more

This place has decent food. My kids like the junior pizza. I like the different salads. The menu is not extensive but good enough for a quick dinner with family or friends. The service is fast, waitresses are usually very nice. The restaurant is generally clean and not too noisy. This place will stay as one of my favorite places as I pass by Belmont. Food is meh. It's fine but often salty and the crust thicknesses vary quite a bit. The real problem is the service is terrible, notably for takeout. How can takeout be bad? Losing orders, losing track of orders, zero emotional intelligence among staff (especially the guy with what sounds like a terrible British accent) to joke when patrons are upset. So, to make a pretty good Margherita sauce: 1 can DOP whole tomatoes 1 sprig basil 1 pinch salt 1) crush tomatoes, perfectly fine to use fingers or a food processor or immersion blender - pulse to desired consistency. Or heck, if that's too much, just buy reasonable quality crushed San Marzano tomatoes. 2) Add a few punches of salt and a fresh basil sprig 3) done, be sure to add some good quality evoo after applying What you *don't* need in a great Margherita sauce is any other froufrou - i.e. onions, random spices, sugar, tomato paste, whatever. This was not a great Margherita sauce - that was smothered thicker than melted tar on hot summer's sidewalk, with a few tiny little bits of what I presume domestic hardened low fat mozz logs. Ok, do NOT eat here if you want gluten free pizza. The crust has the texture of cardboard and was about as flavorful. They charge $4.50 extra for gf crust but they should really pay the customers to eat it. It is truly the WORST. I have celiac disease and have been making my own gf pizza for 20 years. Pleasantly surprised with the takeout here. Good pizza: thin crust that is firm, nice selection of toppings, not greasy. We went to StoneHearth for my daughter's 10th birthday party. We had 8 ten-year-old girls who had the best time! It was so awesome and fun! Joe, the owner, went out of his way to make it special. He even went to CVS down the street to get candles for the birthday cake!!!!! The restaurant has a very happy vibe. Go here for a fun family party! I have mixed feelings about Stone Hearth. Some of the menu items are good and others are absolutely dreadful. Dreadful: The salads. When you ask for "chicken" they literally slap deli meat chicken on your salad. I mean, I could of taken a slice of that chicken and put it between two slices of bread. They were huge and I've never seen chicken served on salad like that in my entire life. The salads are coated in dressing and it makes it an unpleasant experience. The Good: I love the concept of the "half" salad and a "full salad". So you can have a junior pizza, which is a personal sized pizza, and a half salad for the price of a regular entree. The size of the half salad are reasonable as well. The pizza itself is pretty good, however it is overpriced. read more

Great atmosphere, friendly and attentive staff. I can't say enough good things about this place. First of all, the pizza is amazing, thin and and tasty, fresh off the oven, once it's done they bring it right away, it may sound obvious but unfortunately that's not the case in many places. I've also had the buffalo wings last time and omg, they're not fried they're done in the oven which makes it deliciously crunchy, spiced to the right level and the blue cheese sauce brings it all together full circle. I was really hoping to like this place. I went with my roommate for dinner last night and it just simply wasn't good. I just got plain cheese pizza, what better way to gauge a place right? It was SO salty and had barely any sauce on it. We also ordered the meatball poppers and they left a lot to be desired. It seems that they put them in the oven to bake upon order with the sauce(just to heat im assuming), but after the meatballs themselves are already cooked which resulted in terribly overcooked and dry meatballs. Meh. If you come here, I recommend ordering pizza. They have about a dozen different types of pizza you can order or you can create your own by picking your own toppings. I liked how they had three different sizes you can pick from since I wasn't sharing with anyone else - the junior size is 9" is perfect for person. They also have a gluten-free option for all their pizzas for an additional $2 fee. My friends ordered a full sized salad and a pasta dish for their dinner and both were disappointed. They don't give you a bread bowl with butter/oil while you wait for your meal. Our waiter wasn't that attentive, and we had to wait a pretty long time for our bill to come after we were done eating. Most of the parking in the area is metered. If you come here, check out the complex's free two hour parking lot right behind the restaurant. The food is decent, not exactly consistent (pears in salad are no longer roasted well enough, if at all, like they used to be). I have been ordering pizza from here every Friday for about a year now, maybe even more, for my children's pizza and movie night. I went to place an order tonight and found the prices jumped again - it was going to cost me $24 for a large cheeseburger pizza and $12+ for the pearfection salad. Add that to the delivery fees, etc., from Grubhub and the total was going to be $50. At this point, I've had to find a new, more affordable pizza place going forward for our weekly delivery (tried a new place at a party that was great- total cost tonight from there is $32.00, with delivery fees, tip, etc.). I ate here for dinner last night and left pleasantly full. I'm not sure how I still had my pants buttoned after scarfing up almost an entire pizza but I'm not questioning it. A friend and I split the full sized chopped salad with chopped greens, cherry tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, smoked bacon (yum), cucumbers, scallions, and basil. It was the perfect size to split. I ordered the buffalo chicken thin crust pizza and enjoyed it! I'm pretty picky with my pizzas being spoiled growing up in New Jersey and while this wasn't the best I've ever had, it's definitely up there on the list. I am a big fan of thin crust and I can say Stone Hearth does it right. Stone Hearth first opened in Belmont in 2005 so I was excited to experience it where it all started. Parking is next to impossible if you go during dining hours. The place is clean and well furnished. It's roomy enough to accommodate moderate size groups (10-12 people). The prices are slightly high, which the norm in this part of town. The food is good and they serve an assortment of beers and wines. My big complaint is the service. I walked in at 6pm and there were probably 10 people sitting in the restaurant, which is about 1/3 capacity. There were a few people coming in and out for takeout orders. I stood at the entrance for several seconds waiting to hear whether I could seat myself, or if someone would tell me where to sit. No one even looked my way. I walked up to the counter at the end of the restaurant and took a quick look at the menu. I ordered their meatball poppers. The young man asked what kind of sauce I wanted. I asked what my options were. He said regular tomato and spicy tomato. I got the regular. He rang me up and I went and found a table to sit at. I was never asked if the order was to eat in or for takeout. So, I hoped that they would see me sit myself down and at least ask me if I was eating it. Nope. About 10 minutes later, the young man came up to the table with a brown paper bag, which contained my meatballs. I told him I actually wanted to eat it there. He gave an annoyed look and went back behind the counter to plate my dish. He came back a couple of minutes later, put my order on the table, and walked away. I started to eat, but felt like something was missing. I grabbed a menu again and confirmed that my meatballs were supposed to be served with organic focaccia bread, but I didn't get any. I flagged my young friend again, since I didn't feel confident that he would come by on his own to check on me. I asked why I didn't get the bread. He gave me the annoyed look again and this time paired it up with an annoyed tone of voice... "you get the bread if you order the dish for take out, not for dining-in". I was confused. Did he seriously mean to tell me that earlier when he came over with the take-out bag, there was a piece of bread in there, but then when I asked to eat in the dining room, the bread was removed from the dish??? Really??? Luckily, he followed his statement by asking if I'd like a piece of the bread. I decided it wasn't worth the time to argue the point and just accepted the offer. While he was getting the bread, I peeked at the menu again looking for a note explaining what he had just told me. I didn't find anything. I did notice, however, that my dish was offered with a third sauce option... creamy roasted onion and herb. I'm not sure why that choice wasn't offered earlier when I asked what kinds of sauce were available. I would've definitely chosen it over tomato sauce. For a second, I contemplated brining this up when the young man came back with the bread, but the plate holding the bread had hardly been placed on the table when he turned around and went right back behind the counter. At this point, I was the one that was too annoyed to pursue the issue any further. I just wanted to eat my food and leave. As far as the food was concerned, it was good enough. The meatballs poppers were cooked well and the tomato sauce wasn't bad. The focaccia bread was good, but would've probably been better if it had been toasted. Perhaps it would all have tasted better had I not been so uncomfortable and anxious to get out of there. I would've liked to go back with my teenage kids as the place looks nice and the dining area seems like it'd be great for a family dinner. But, if this is the kind of service you get on a not so busy weeknight, I'd be afraid to see what it's like during dinner rush on a Friday night. read more

I ate here a few years ago and didn't have a strong impression either way. I had paid last time with LevelUp, and when I recently received a $5 discount if I used LevelUp there, I decided to give it another try. I first called to confirm they still took LevelUp. The woman who answered the phone didn't know, but checked and then answered "yes," so I ordered a large four-cheese pizza on whole wheat crust. When I showed up and opened the LevelUp app, the cashier said she didn't know how to use it, so she summoned the manager. He said, "We don't take LevelUp." I said, "But I received an e-mail offering $5 off if I used LevelUp here, and I called to confirm you still took it." He asked whom I spoke with when I called, and I said, "I don't know her name, but it was whoever is answering the phone." He said, "She's new here and just made a mistake." A real businessman would have honored the discount, but he refused to. I probably should have just walked away and left them with the pizza, but instead I paid with a credit card and with no promised discount. When I got home and opened the box, I saw the comedy of errors had continued: they had given me white crust, not the whole wheat I had ordered. The quality? Probably not absolutely the worst pizza I have ever had, but well below the quality of the average frozen pizza from the grocery store. My advice? Go somewhere else. read more

Nope, don't. Previously had the GF wings and they were good, they were fine again. The pizza crust was a mixture of cardboard, sugar, sawdust and saltine crackers. I was unaware you could make something that dry, that sweet. I was starving and had 2 slices, I just couldn't do it, so I went to bed hangry.
