Not only was this a great food encounter, it was also a chance to experience a local, unique eatery. I am not sure which aspect was more enjoyable, but the two together made our dinner quite memorable. The location in downtown Watertown enhanced the experience as the cozy, vintage setting in the town- center strip exuded the feeling of a small local family restaurant. We made a reservation and this is recommended since the dining room offers limited capacity. Parking was a little tricky but we found a spot on the street across from the diner. Beware that you might have to exercise a bit of patience in this regard. Because of our reservation, we were seated right away. Our server attended to us quickly and did a great job of looking after us all night. My colleague, who had been to this place a few times prior to this, suggested that we start with Ida's Meatballs. It was presented as four decent-sized pieces and they were not only plentiful in portion, but also were quite tasty. For his main, he had the Short Rib Ravioli. The pasta was stuffed quite full with short rib meat. He invited me to try a bite and I thought it was excellent. I chose the Shrimp Fra Diavolo, one of my favorites on American Italian menus. It was terrific having just the right amount of kick. We topped off the meal with dessert. He had tried the Tiramisu before and insisted that I share at least a couple of bites. It was outstanding. I decided on a finisher of my own, however, with the Affogato. It was quite lovely with quality ice cream and good coffee. It provided a right-sized dessert portion for me. Overall, the bill for the two of us that included the food, a glass of wine for me (a lovely Chianti), tax and tip was close to $60 per person. For the quality of the fare, I was not unhappy with this value. I'll look forward to the chance to try this place again. My colleague tells me it is a go-to for him when he's in the area, so I'm sure I'll have another chance to visit.

Came here for an early dinner and was impressed with the quality of the food - the fresh pasta and produce came together as thoughtfully prepared dishes from scratch that were tasty and enjoyable. Our group of 4 started with the fried squash blossoms, which were a nice bite served on a sweet strawberry fig compote. There were only 3 of them and 4 of us, so I wish the server had said something. For entrees, we had the short rib ravioli, scallops, chicken parm, and chicken broccoli alfredo. The ravioli was the star, and each ravioli was generously filled with short rib in a fresh wrapper that was blanketed with a very delectable marsala cream sauce. The second favorite was the scallops and the lemon cream sauce was lovely. The classics hit too, with the alfredo sauce being nice and light and not too heavy, and the chicken parm had 3 big pieces of chicken with a flavorful red sauce. We finished with creme brulee and cannolis, and both were delightful. The space is clean and bright and was recently updated. The walls were painted colorful pastels that kind of reminded me of Old San Juan in Puerto Rico. Acoustics were sometimes challenging and it can get a bit loud. Service was friendly, but spotty and our server needed to be flagged down a few times. Overall the food was good, and I'd return when I get a ravioli craving.

I've been coming here for over a year regularly, and it has never disappointed. You can't go wrong with any of the entrees or appetizers, but my favorites are the mussels and arancini to start and the short rib ravioli or bolognese as a main. Everything is always on point!

    Ricotta gnocchi...delicious!

The food was delicious! I will definitely be going back. I'm glad we made reservations because it's not a big place.

Pizza-parlor Parmesan shaker should probably be updated.

This spot is a true neighborhood find with a lovely, comfortable interior -- no (overly) gaudy Italian restaurant sign outside, no plastic grapes hanging from the ceiling or murals of Venice. The menu is loaded with classic Italian dishes -- Piccata, Marsala, lasagna, bolognese, ravioli, pappardelle -- made with super fresh ingredient homemade pasta. Service was respectful, though a tad scattered. In the end, asking twice for lemon slices didn't really matter, but... Definitely going back. Soon.

Nice cocktail menu (but we didn't partake...). Casual diner-ish seating around an old school bar with a cool take on breakfast classics. The biscuit with butter and hot honey is big (share it) and outstanding. Our awesome server recommended the burrito ... but we went with a classic breakfast plate (great bacon) and their unique take on chilaquiles ... delicious all around. Can tell a lot about a restaurant by how they handle a hiccup. One of our dishes came out cold, and they were quick to remake it with courtesy, professionalism, and an apology. Bravo. Five stars for service, food, and ambience. Highly recommend.

Immediately seated and waiter(didn't say is name) stated they were busy today and number of items unavailable - no pizza dough(no pizzas at all), no marinated olives, no grilled bread with mussels dish, no ciabatta toast with pesto dish. We ordered drinks, and one came quickly. had to ask another wait staff for remaining drinks 10 minutes later. Ordered appetizers, then placed main order. 15 minutes go by, and I see three dishes under heating lamp. Five minutes later those three dishes and another were brought to our table. My paccheri bolangnese was cold, and prepared with spacatelli pasta - waiter neglected to state out of all pastas but spacatelli. My wife's roasted chicken was very dry(too long under heating lamp?). My son ordered the spacatelli al pesto, but he was mistakenly given spacatelli bolognese. He prefers not to eat meat. We sent that back and ten minutes later he received his correct order. The restaurant was scheduled to close at 10 PM. I can only imagine service and choices given to people with later reservation. MIDA didn't deserve one star, but that option is not offered. you MIDAwant to chose another restaurant if you expect better!

My partner and I couldn't decide what to get from their a la carte menu so we ended up going for the four-course tasting menu instead ($85/pp), picking the omnivore and pescatarian options to see if we could try more items. We were actually a little underwhelmed at first, but the tasting menu got better and better after each course. The tasting menu started with some of their in-house pickles and ferments. We had some onion, green beans, and cucumbers, which I wished were crunchier. Each pickle had a good amount of acidity but I wouldn't have minded if the flavors were punchier. The first course of the tasting menu was a salad. Visually it just looked like a pile of lettuce, but they added a savory garlicky sauce and a sprinkle of asparagus salt that allowed the dish to feel refreshing and hearty at the same time. The radishes were crunchy, peppery, and delicious, and we were very pleased to find that many of the later courses also included raw radish. We ended up getting different dishes for the second course, one of which involved deep-fried arancini-like balls of risotto with a creamy sauce, and the other had a cold plant-based loaf served with a vibrant garlic sauce. Both dishes featured some fresh greens that balanced the carby heaviness. By the time we got to the third course, we realized that Forage makes their vegetables shine. The omnivore course came with a steak while the pescatarian course had a pan-fried fish, both of which were also available to be ordered a la carte. While we thought that the steak and fish were seasoned and prepared well, the vegetables stood out to us even more. They weren't prepared in any crazily innovative way but the chefs made the natural flavors of the vegetables shine in a way that complemented the rest of the dish very well. After the third course, we added one optional cheese course ($22/pp) that came with even more radishes. The hazelnut shortbread was super buttery and everything went well together. I was already feeling pretty full and was glad that we only got one cheese course instead of two. Finally, the fourth course had a maple semifreddo with seaweed crisps and a caramel nut sauce. This was amazing and something that I'll think about for a long time! I could really taste the maple flavor in the semifreddo, and the cold creaminess went so well with the salty, crispy seaweed and nutty, buttery caramel. The balance of textures and flavors in the dessert was excellent. Along with the tasting menu, we added one wine pairing ($60/pp). We liked some of the wines so much that we asked for more information about them and learned that some of the wines are imported in small batches. After experiencing how well vegetables are prepared here, I'd love to visit during different seasons to sample their vegetarian menu items.
