parking is street. booked a table for saturday lunch the night before. credit card is charged $25 to hold and they'll take it off your bill. we ordered the soup of the day, chicken and vegetables, caprese, the trio ravioli, seafood pasta, and a couple of cappuccino. soup was nice, was accompanied with bread. very comforting bowl of soup. seasoning come through each bite. the more i ate it, the more i realized it was just a little bit on the salty side for me. caprese was very fresh, all the ingredients were really fresh. the mozzarella is the denser type. my ravioli plate was great. a good size, you can taste the freshness of the ravioli dough. my favorite was the cheese. there were corners of the ravioli that were a bit al dente. the seafood pasta was not at its best. the seafood served was fishy, not fresh. when the plate was brought out you could smell the unsavory fishiness. i personally wouldn't have serve the seafood at home if it gotten to that stage. for dessert we got the crème brûlée and mango panna cotta. we loved the crème brûlée. the shell was nice and hard, flavor was good. the panna cotta was a bit dense for our own personal liking. i got one cappuccino at the start of the meals and a second one during dessert. second one was a lot stronger than the first. both were good. the restaurant should update their menu to reflect the correct pricing. menu shows $3 and was charged $4.95, doesn't leave a good taste when that happens. for carry out, we ordered the chicken pesto and italian sandwich, both very good. all the ingredients were flavorful and really fresh. the rosemary they include on each sandwich is a really nice touch. it's actually a fresh (not dried) cut of a rosemary branch. i took it and infused it with olive oil at home to accompany the sandwich. happy to return and try other dishes. read more

Went for pizzas here. They have good salad too, though I wouldn't say the salads are huge. The kids loved the pizza! I had a salad. I didn't see too many gluten free options on the menu other than salad. The place is right in oak square and has a number of tables. Great place for us for a cozy early dinner. read more

We had a terrific experience at From Scratch! We were warmly welcomed into the cozy dining area by such friendly staff. The food already smelled delicious! We had a bread basket with an amazing oil dip. The chicken noodle soup of the day came in a large cup and was hot and so perfect for a winter night. We also shared the 4 meatballs with lots of parm cheese on top, so good!! For our entrees we had the chicken parmigiana and the pasta bolognese. Both were incredible and came with fresh pasta. We will definitely be returning for more delicious dishes since there are so many more to try on the menu. What a neighborhood gem! read more

Blows all of the North End restaurants out of the water by MILES. Lobster Rav, Buff Pizza, Tiramisu, and Chicken Parm were all PERFFFECTION!! I had some family friends come into town. I took them here rather than the North end! The food is delicious, and the husband wife combo that runs this place are the sweetest people. I hope that is something they will consider in the future because if they offered delivery, I could see myself ordering from them once or twice a week The place is small but very clean and very nice the people extremely nice and friendly and accommodating . I ordered the seafood pasta in a light tomato sauce. It was loaded with shrimp, mussels , and calamari. it was such a large portion at a very reasonable price that I brought some home and while I'm still full, I'm thinking of going and finishing It was that good . my friend ordered the salad with salmon. It was a large piece of salmon, well cooked and seasoned perfectly and she cleaned her plate. It's just really good. They had some interesting pizzas that I'm dying to try and they also offer cheese pizza but it's not on the menu which I think is odd. As always, From Scratch delivered excellent food and friendly service. Truly a hidden gem in Boston. The asparagus saffron risotto was rich, comforting, and delicious and the chicken parmesan with homemade pasta was as good as we hoped it would be. We tried the tres leches for dessert, and it was delicious (with a maple-forward flavor... like if pancakes and syrup turned into cake). Try the new cocktail menu... the blackberry margarita (pictured) is good, but we enjoyed the dirty martini and Mediterranean cosmopolitan at another recent visit. We are leaving the neighborhood soon, but this has been a mainstay of our time here and we are so disappointed to leave it behind! Hopefully we'll be back for another visit soon. read more

Yes!!! What a find! The food was delicious, all home made. From the bread dip sauce to the delicious salad dressing, to the crisp thin pizza, to the delicious chicken Parmesan, homemade tortellini, amazing saffron risotto, all was fantastic. To say nothing of one of the best tres leches I've ever had, and the service is excellent. This tiny restaurant with a beautiful big pizza oven from Italy is indeed a gem! And the owners/chefs are not just good at their craft, they're thoughtful, attentive and as sweet as can be. This will be our new go to place. I highly recommend this restaurant to all, and the menu has something for everyone of all ages and tastes. Even the menu is beautiful. A hidden gem in Brighton! We think the pizza here is the best in Boston. It's our go-to spot in our neighborhood. Big portions, great service, reasonable prices, and a relaxed dine-in experience. It's really unpretentious but still high quality, which I think is great. It's very clearly a small business, where the owners are a family running the show. Can't emphasize enough how awesome this place is. I almost don't want to write this review so the word doesn't get out about how amazing this place is, but then again, the folks who run this restaurant should benefit from the excellent word-of-mouth they deserve. read more

Dropped in to From Scratch for a late dinner with a friend and restaurant was great! We had the ravioli sampler- 3 kinds of homemade ravioli- lobster, spinach/ cheese and ricotta all with 3 different sauces- wow fabulous. Has a Caesar salad which was large and great dressing. The bread is homemade with homemade tapenade- delicious! Organic wine from Italy was very good too at a good price. Try this new restaurant! As a fan of the plain cheese pizza, I had to call the restaurant to ask if they make them since there isn't one listed on their menu. The good news is they do, the friendly person on the phone explained that they figured they didn't need to list it on the menu given all the pizza places around here make them. I sort of get and don't get this logic, but doesn't matter, they have it and that's what counts. I also asked how much it costs, $13.99 if you are wondering, then ordered one for pickup. The pizza was 12" across and tasted okay. The cheese to sauce ratio was good but left little room for the cornicione (the crust edge around the pizza). Overall, the crust had a nice bite, crisp and sturdy. I probably won't order another plain cheese from here since I prefer one with a more substantial and pillowy cornicione. That said, the pizzas actually listed on their menu seem more artisan and I can see how tweaking this plain version would make a good base for them, so if you like quality toppings on your pizza, definitely give this place a try. Also got an order of the Signature Meatballs, which consisted of 3 large meatballs served in a red sauce, for Mr. Pickypants. He said they were tasty, would rate them a 7 out of 10. I usually do not write reviews, but I have to give this place some attention. By chance I was in the area and needed dinner for the kids, so I ordered pizza to go. In waiting for the pizza (which is now the kids' new favorite pizza), the owners (I assume) mentioned they make their own pasta. That alone would've gotten me through the door. Fresh pasta in classic dishes- not really much more needs to be said. They are very much traditional and very good at the classics (so far as I can tell, not being an expert). The carbonara was perfect and extremely creamy (of course they would likely be offended if you suggested they used cream to get it that way). The owners are very nice and really take a lot of pride in what they do- the kind of place that really should be getting a lot of attention for the right reasons. read more
