This review is specifically for the framing department. I waited for a big sale and then took my happy self down to Michael's. I think it took about 2wks to frame an oil painting, and ran about $120 (again, on sale!). They did an excellent job from working with me on the design to the actual work. My spouse was just in the State St. store ... and it's been 97° today (and yesterday) with a heat index of 117° and they do not have the air conditioning on!! He said he almost passed out inside the store. This store never has their AC on, but under the current circumstances, they should make an exception. The company keeps raising prices, but can't afford to make the customers comfortable and safe while they shop? We feel really badly for the hardworking employees who should not have to work in a sweatshop! How awful for them!! Do better, Michael's!!! read more

I wish I could give zero stars. Completely ridiculous experience today! In staying with recommendations due to COVID 19 I wanted to order online and use their curbside pick up for some art supplies for my child. Those supplies will help pass the time in the next 2 1/2 weeks that we are to Shelter in. I tried to order some canvases and some paint. Pretty simple. Um no. I HAVE ordered online in the past but today WOW. I put things in my cart. I chose to drive up/curbside pick up option yet every time I went to check out it threw them back into Ship. Then it would say that the item was not available at my store. I would refresh it and the items AGAIN were available at my store. I would check out and Bam again back to ship option . I FINALLY got it to work. It took me 40 minutes!!!!! Any one who tries to use their worthless app in store knows how horrible it is. Their web site it not much better. Ok fast forward. The ONLY good thing was I got my confirmation email saying they got my order. I got an email saying they were working on it and i got an email saying it was ready to pick up. THAT is the ONLY good about this experience. I arrived at the store and DID WHAT THE EMAIL TOLD ME TO DO for curbside pick up. See photo attached. I got there, called the store and pushed 3. The system said it was an invalid option. Hmm. Waited for the recorded message to go through the options, hit 3 again. Again invalid. Ugh. I pressed zero to talk to someone. I told them I was calling for my curbside pick up. Apparently who ever answered was having a bad day because she was CLEARLY irritated . She sighed hard then said, fine. Hang on. After 5 minutes I parked my car and went into the store. I went to teh back where order pick up USED to be. There were no signs indicating it had moved. No it is now in front. Ugh. I went to that order online desk and was told I Had to get in line. Um COVID 19??? Remember I wanted curbside to avoid the store. Fine I got in line. When called I waited a minute unti lthe person before me left. The cashier was super irritated and indicated again that I needed to come to her check out line. I politely said I would when the person before me had left. Again super irritated with me. Apparently they have no memory because I just had said I had an online order when you told me to get in line. Once again she was super bitchy ( sorry but that is how she was) and sighed and told the other girl to handle it. Really? What the hell is your problem lady? Fine. I walked to the pick up desk and she grabbed my order. She asked to see my ID and wanted to touch it , Um no! I told her no. I held it as she breathed all over it ( I Had Lysol wipes with me. I immediately wiped my ID down). She handed me my bag and wanted me to sign the ipad saying I picked it up.No way. I told her I refused and said she could sign it. I walked out completely irritated and disgusted with this whole process. The staff at this store are ALWAYS super bitch and rude. I go in for cheap canvases for my child. I am not willing to pay WAY more from anyone but Michaels. You lost my business today. You CANNOT afford to lose customers right now. Seriously. I was trying to be a good citizen by using curbside pick up which your store failed to provide. There are no signs indicating online pick up moved so I was forced to walk through your whole store ( yes there were others in there). Your staff clearly took their bitchy pills double today. I was seen as a huge inconvenience and asked to do things that NO ONE should be doing during this COVID 19 situation. You lost my business . My family and friends WILL know of this experience. You just lost out to Amazon. Oh and they no longer take competitors coupons as of March 8! Slowly sinking ship!!! Good riddance. Maybe it's because my mom's been dragging me here since I was little. Maybe it's because my jaw drops and I feel butterflies in my stomach every time I walk through the doors. Maybe I'm just an arts and crafts fiend. In any case, I'm a fan of Michael's. They've gotten rid of the cloth section, but still have a jam-packed store full of anything you'd need. This huge amount of choices does have one down side and that would be never being able to find something you're looking for. Sometimes the staff knows where its at; sometimes they don't. Just go here with some time to spare and eventually you'll fill up your basket/cart/arms. They have reasonable prices on small bottles of paint and good holiday decorations (ready to hang and DIY). Look for coupons in the paper and sign up for their email coupons- they often run % off items/total sale promotions that help those sometimes expensive trips (especially for framing purchases). **They carry Krylon spray paint, which works on plastic (the reason for my latest trip)** read more

Are you sick of getting the coupon after the fact, boy I sure am!!! They always give you a coupon for the day after you just purchased something. News flash it's sixty miles round trip to get there in the first place. Never have any of the supplies for Art any more, where are the scratch boards, where are the pastel boards, where is the Windsor pastel protection spray??? The coupons are a scam on line, not for stores near you and when it says it 50% off it is NOT TRUE! It will say 40% and it's for on-line purchases, not one thing for your area in store. Having left my husband to pay for a cart of goods, he was seen to by a bookish looking, small elderly woman. Despite not having a coupon, he reported her winking at him and graciously pulling out a coupon for him. Then I return to buy some forgotten items. Same elderly lady. I looked at the register's screen, seeing no discount , I asked about it. She curtly stated I wasn't entitled to a discount (even as a member) without the actual coupon. In my shock (remember, it was my money and phone number my husband used moments before in my absence) I asked again, thinking I misheard, but her curt response was verified. The only difference, if one was to wonder, my spouse being white and my being an obvious minority. We can bully each other into "acting" right and "being sensitive" but the truth as it is and always will be is that ignorant people will treat people as poorly as they see fit to...as long as they feel confident that no one can see them or feel the other person is of such low and unintimidating quality that there is no reason to bother expressing basic respect. Yes, it hurts..as it always does; despite the entire world claiming they "do better". You may want to do something about your employees humiliating your customers in such a manner. It's hard enough trying to not be mistaken for "that angry black woman" in society's scrutinizing eyes..but my dear lord, what a trying task folks like your cashier can certainly make it. I know corporations do not care how many thousands of dollars loyal customers spend anymore (which I have, over seven years at your store) . I'm honestly curious about how this store is even still open with such AWFUL customer service. EVERY single time I have been to Michaels, it's near impossible to find a working employee to help you when needed. I've always just brushed it off until today. Today I went in search of a heat gun after calling to confirm that they sold them there. After about 20 minutes of searching and no employees to be found other than the single person running registers I FINALLY found someone. I asked her for help and she looked beyond annoyed that I bothered her for help (keep in mind, I set my frustration aside and kindly asked for help knowing it wasn't her fault I couldn't find what I needed), she then slowly made her way to the walk way, pointed clear across the store and said "over there to the left" and went back on her way to doing whatever. Now annoyed with the fact that she couldn't take 30 seconds to walk me to the area she pointed to, I walked over and found glue guns.. Which I not what I had explained to her. After this, I gave up. I'll gladly take my money else where, to someone who actually appreciates their customers. I worked in customer service for three years, and I know how irritating it can be, but I have NEVER taken it out on a customer or just been plain lazy regardless of my day.
