A Very big Shout-out to Carmen (San Clemente Pico Location) who helped me with choosing Custom Framing for 2 Autograph pieces I had. She took her time to help me pick the right frame and color scheme that would look the best with the items I wanted to include. Please remember if you are having a custom piece done be patient because there is a lot of information that needs to be entered into their computer system to make sure your project is done correctly. I have had many items framed at this location and each time was well worth the wait. Carmen was awesome and I know I will have more projects in the future to bring in.. And no way of knowing until you're trying to check out, and if you're not paying attention to prices, you'd never know. So why is the sale sign here? Good question. I was looking for some frames, and saw online some sale prices for them. Went into the store to go see, found some I liked and wanted to purchase. Upon check out Mia told me they were not on sale despite the sale signs in the isles. She then had a manager Alma verify. Said sorry nope not on sale- so I went online and checked. Sure enough 15.99 online vs 39.99 per frame in store. I asked if they would honor their own online system, and Alma said they wouldn't. So instead I simply did and "online" order while standing in the store and "picked them up". Absolutely idiotic policy. The only reason for 2 stars was because Tracy was very helpful. Not only false advertising but not honoring your own online system in 2024 doesn't make sense. Get with the times and better customer experience, shame on you. read more

San Clemente, Ca. I needed model glue. I was hoping for the type that welds the plastic and the small tube I got did that, although much slower than the smelly stuff I used as a kid. After searching the glue department with no success I went looking for help. I finally found a clerk near the back of the store and asked if they had model glue. She says "Yes, it's right here". I have no idea what department I was now in but it seemed odd to not have it over on the glue isle. I paid for the glue and left. It was a satisfactory product. read more

Had a terrible experience with Eric the manager today. I found a basket in the basket aisle for a gift basket. Spent an hour finding everything to go perfectly in it. At check out Eric comes over, rips it out of my hands saying it's display only. I asked to purchase it at any price (used cheap basket) only because I had spent so much time already on it. He refused walking away while talking to be and not even apologizing for something clearly their error. Honestly I'm the first to understand a mistake however the clear lack of customer service here was shocking. Eric should probably be in a "non customer facing" side of the business. read more

We had such a great experience with customer service at this Michaels. All three of the staff that helped us were incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. The 5 stars are for ANA and only Ana. She saved me. I went to this place the day before and could find NO help on that floor. I have never stenciled before and needed help. I saw one employee and he blew me off when I asked for help with stencils. As he flew by, he just said "over there"...... I walked out. Needed the stuff today so I returned. I have ordered online twice this month. The first order arrived with no problems. I then placed another order and although the items were in stock, I received 3 emails telling me the order was delayed. Since I was not going to be in the location for delivery I called to cancel my order. I tried online and had 92 people waiting in front of me. I then tried to call customer service and waited 25 minutes & the call was disconnected. I tried again and waited 30 minutes for Kenneth to take my call. I explained I had to cancel the order since I would not be in the area for delivery. He said too late the order has been processed. If the order is delayed & not shipped why could it not be canceled? I asked to speak to a supervisor and Kenneth just hung up the phone. Very poor customer service. read more

I use this Michaels (Pico) for a long time and I liked a lot even it's a small store... I went to this store with my friends to buy kids birthday gifts about two months ago. I could't find one thing and a lady just walked by (her name is Catherine) So, I asked her .. I do not know what happened to her, she had a big atitude and she told me "oh, its gone already! " My friends and I looked each other and I said "Is the manager here today?" and she said " I am a STORE Manager!!!" and she left!! This review is specifically for the for custom framing services as I don't make crafts of any kind. Let's face it custom framing is expensive. My wife and it have travelled to many parts of the world and brought home things that we want framed. Usually what we do is pick one item to have framed each year as we are redecorating a room. We wait for a framing sale -- they have framing sales of up to 60% off. If you ask the people in the framing department they will tell y when the sale will be coming. When you take your item to be framed, they have a really cool computer system that takes a picture of your item. Then, as you add the frame, matting, glass and other options, it shows you a mockup on the screen of what the finished item will look like. They generally have a good but manageable collection of frames. The staff generally have an artistic flair and will hep you decide on what will look good with your art. Turn around time is quick... Generally no more than a week. They will call you when your item is ready. They do a really nice framing job and take extra care to put things like hanging wires and rubber bumpers to protect you wall. We have several custom framed items and they look wonderful and will last a lifetime. read more

I came here on a quick errand to buy some colored pencils. I had gone on a quick grocery run and hadn't shaved... so I suppose I looked unkempt... but nothing too crazy. So I went to the colored pencil section and quickly looked up prices and ratings on my phone. Their price was about double what it was online... but I had been wanting to draw so I said meh, I should support some brick and mortar businesses so I picked up a few items anyway. The thing that put me off was a clerk came and sat next to me while I was shopping. No big deal... didn't think much of it... they left after about five minutes... but then I went to the register... and the young man asked me what I was holding in my left hand. It was my yellow Schools First credit card. Who knows? Maybe these events were unrelated... but I can tell you it made me no longer want to shop at their store. One could say that perhaps they were only being diligent about their loss prevention but it wasn't a good feeling. Would have saved half the price if I had only been patient. read more

Michaels has a pretty awesome supply of most crafty things. I'm going to review only the aisles I go onto here so here we go! I'm not a scrapbooker, but the Martha Stewart craft aisle has all kinds of neato goodies on it, like super fine glitter and some fabulous patterned paper. The bead area is a little random, I'm hoping it'll soon be set up better like other Micheals I've seen. It'll never replace my favorite bead shop (The Bead Shop in Laguna Beach, awesome name, huh?) but it'll do in a pinch. There are some brands Michaels has started carrying recently that have really great designs, there's a lot of variety here. The adheseive/clay/resin aisle is pretty well stocked. 3 different brands of polymer clay in super colors. About a million types of glue and Mod Podge and glazes. Not a lot of variety in the resin department but that's OK since it's kind of a sepcialty item. The yarn section. Hhhmmm, not so great. There have been signs up for a while now that a re-design is coming for this section but nothing so far. Not a lot of options for non-acrylic yarns here. Though there's a pretty nice variety of knitting/crocheting books and needles/hooks. Embroidery/sewing: this section has improved a lot lately. An entire aisle just of embroidery floss!! I do wish they'd start carrying the Sublime Stitching designs though. Good selection of Aida fabric for cross stitching here too. I wish wish wish that Michaels would add a fabric department! The sewing supplies they do have are nothing special though I did find my extra large self healing mat here so that was a deal. There are obviously a lot more departments in this store but these are the ones I'm interested in. I've found the employees at check out to be really helpful (they'll even sometimes let you use two coupons at once, awesome!) but it is kind of difficult to find an employee in the actual store. they could improve that! read more

Michaels is a great place to come to get items to make a craft. I'm not a crafty person, but I will like coming here. I think they have a very large selection of items, so you will most likely find what you need. I usually need help finding items, and so far everyone at this location has been nice and helpful. I have no idea why this Michaels is still in business. Yes they always have a coupon but there are so many restrictions on it, it almost never works. Then store is always messy and completely disorganized. Employees can be kind of friendly but not very helpful. And again going back to the whole coupon thing if you have a 50% off coupon you should honor it for any regular priced items. Yes the new coloring books for adults is hot trend but not allowing a coupon to be used is dumb. So when I realized this I went to look at coloring pencils. This place is good $10 more expensive then hobby lobby. How do I know that because I walked out of the store and went start to hobby lobby Which does allow you to use there 40% off coupon on any regular priced item. Yes this may be the only hobby store in San Clemente but it's a good thing that in California there's always another store in a near by city close enough to go to. read more

Love this store! There's always coupons. My only complaint is they're not always fully stocked, and sometimes it's a bit messy. Obviously it's a craft store, so there's a lot going on, but they seem to have a lot of employees..except when you need to find something! The checkout prepress seems to go smoothly, although lines tend to be a bit on the longer side. I don't ever think I've walked right up to the register. Besides that, employees are nice, and I always find what I need (eventually). read more

I just pick up a print that I had framed 18 x 33 there at Michaels frame department. A lady by the name of Catherine help me the problem was that she just came from the bathroom with gloves on she did not take them off when she brought out my framed picture from the back and was so rude as to not even asking if I wanted it wrapped!! Or even thank me for buy at Michaels, after telling her to take off her gloves she did not like that!! Management needs to look at the people they hire!!! So rude!! Just think paying $561 to have it framed and have bathrooms gloves all over it!!!! Sol.o read more

I went to shop for last minute things for Christmas! I picked up some silk flowers and I thought I was getting a deal! I pulled out all my receipts on Christmas to see what I spent! Well I thought all silk flowers were 70% off but I ended up paying full price. I went back the day after Christmas and I spoke with Elma the manager on duty and she explained they weren't all 70% off. I told her that I thought they were Cuz of how the signs were and if they were marked, and it was misleading, and I was never going back there again. She then helped me out and fixed my problem! The aisles are always cluttered and blocked with boxes, ladders, carts, trash and Michaels's staff stocking stuff oblivious to any customer trying to get by! They told me they would call when it was ready; a month later I called and it had been ready for over 2 weeks but I was never notified. When I called to get the framing dept, I was hung up on 3 times and when I mentioned that, she got snappy with me and told me she kept paging them but they wouldn't answer. Rather than appologizing or trying to figure out why they wouldn't answer, she just bitched at me. This store needs a complete overhaul. read more

Their customer service is the worst. Went in to purchase a couple of things for a bridal shower and when paying the cashier wouldn't give us the coupon because it wasn't 3 pm. We were okay with coming back at 3 pm to purchase the items but they wouldn't hold the items aside. We said we would purchase all of the items at the time and come back to return and repurchase or ask for a price adjustment and they wouldn't even allow it because "if you return everything we have to put it back on the shelf and you have to go around and re-pick EVERYTHING". unfortunate response. A friend had purchased some yarn for me. I realize I did not have the receipt necessary to warrant a return. My issue is this...I was simply asking for a exchange or store credit. I was open about the price it was purchased at and yes it was on sale. I was denied all the above and left with the original purchase. So here is my statement to Michael. I will eat the cost of the whole $15 I spent but i will never shop at Michael's again. With the online competition that is out there. I was able to find my product for $4 dollars cheaper. was your harsh store policy worth the loss? It left a bad enough taste in my mouth that I will not visit your stores again and will in return seek out other channels that offers such products. I would imagine in this day and age this is of a concern to you. Also being in a marketing profession I think you really missed the boat on this one. You cannot continue as a successful retail establishment with this sort of customer service. read more

Unfortunately they didn't have a couple paint pens I needed for this particular event and when asked to open the pen dept they manager couldn't dind he keys. I def won't hold that against the store.
