This isn't about this Michaels but it is about the one on Midway Drive in point loma. I ordered two tie dye kits yesterday around 12 pm. It is now 1:15 pm the next day. I still haven't gotten my order and I have been outside for about fifteen minutes and no one has given me my order. The tie dye kits were in stock, it should not have been 25 hours to pick it up. I am very disappointed and will not be doing Online Order Pickups anymore at michaels. read more

Had two pictures framed here. The clerk was friendly and patient. The quality of the work however was not acceptable. For one picture I chose a frame that had a carved pattern in the wood. When the finished product was returned to me none of the miters matched. I was told that it wasn't possible to match the miters because it would waste material and cost more. RIDICULOUS STATEMENT! Of course it would and of course you match the pattern. The frame is just awful to look at - raw wood is visible in all corners. And the miters are mismatched or misaligned by almost 1/2 an inch. How difficult is it to hold two [2] unicorn charms for a little girl? Turns out, a lot harder than a reasonable person would expect. You would think that I was asking them to bring us the moon, wrapped in a big, red ribbon made of pure silk spun by a silkworm then dipped in blood drawn from the Michaels employees. I was at another store that called the Clairemont location tonight. I was standing right there listening to the lady ask if they will please hold two unicorn charms and we will pick it up right away. When we got there, none of the cashiers knew what I was talking about, they said no one called, they asked me who called and when and who was the associate at Clairemont that took the call. Ridiculous that a request so simple can be botched up so badly. Don't turn the situation back on the customer. It is your incompetence that wasted my family's time & resources. We did all we could do, which was to ask the Santee store to confirm inventory, call the location to request a hold, and go over there right away to pick it up. I did all that. We even checked the Jewelry section to see if it is there. Negative. The positive side of this debacle is that my children finally saw first-hand what type of future they don't want [working minimum wage because they are not detail-oriented and cannot execute simple logistics]. It has motivated them to be more aware and to save themselves from a grim future of lost dreams and to live out their poor, pathetic lives working at Michaels. So I thank you for giving them a glimpse of their alternate future if they do not work to improve themselves constantly. In their minds, Michaels = incompetence. So disappointed in y'all. I love Michaels let's just get that straight and the one I usually go to is right by my house so it's convenient but the parking is terrible cause it's also attached to a mall so when I found this Michaels I was excited!! It was close to my house I almost missed the entrance cause at an angle you almost can't see it but walking in I was greeted and asked by a considerable amount of employees for assistance it's a clean well organized store, in a nice quiet area. read more

Couldn't find anything useful in the store for candle making everything is so old fashioned. For example it would be cool if they sold bulk of like gemstones and real crystals. Amazon it is I guess. Also everything was so overpriced that is ridiculous, I could get 10 X the amount on amazon. When I used the bathroom there was what look like to be blood on the soap dispenser and I accidentally touched it. So gross. It's just crazy how much they charge. read more

When having art framed be sure to let the designers know if you want their "wireless wall hanging" or the good old-fashioned wire. I didn't know to specify which one, and the "wireless" was a pain for me due to the size and weight of my art. It's not a one-person project. Anything I do in the future I'll be sure to ask for wire. Part of my problem is I thought they sold art supplies, so I was expecting to walk into a store that size and walk out with exactly what I needed. Instead, I walked into a craft store that had a few art supplies, and I wasn't able to "make do" with what they offered. Also I thought the mark up on the oils was quite high compared to my usual art store. It just proves when you try to everything to everybody, you're going to fall down somewhere. I would return for craft supplies, but I'll stick to my usual place for art supplies. read more

Asked to speak to a manager to give him some feedback on an employees attitude and coming from a store manager to another he said nothing to me and walked away. I hope that corporate reads these because this particular michaels has horrible customer service standards. So the item I drove down for about 20 miles away was under stocked and a complete mess in the aisle. I finally find a fabric pen that would suffice and I get in line. There are two lines with their lights on to choose from both about the same length wait. I choose lane one even though it's an older mature woman behind the register. There's about 4 transactions ahead of me. She helps a family of 6 directly in front of me and as I'm next she says "I'm off now, you'll have to get into the other line. Which has about tripled at this point and has about 15 people in it. I was furious I had my family waiting in the car outside and she was trying to pull this on me. I explained to her I'd been waiting for 10 minutes in her line. Have some customer service training lady. I had one damn item in my hand and apparently was last in line. It would have literally taken 30 extra seconds. I was fuming by the time the manager came over and I made a huge scene. Not only did it take me forever to find this pen in the mess the old hag was treating me like a little child. Which I'm far from in my 30's. I feel had I been older she would have shown more respect. Needless to say this location has left a very bad taste in my mouth. I work in Public Relations and you have no idea who you're disrespecting so treat all your customers with respect. read more

I hate their advising and coupon policy. The coupons claim a percentage off regular priced items. Then when you go to check out they tell you that the coupon doesn't apply because the item is a a discount item and the small print says the coupon doesn't apply. If this is the case, then the front of the coupon shouldn't say the discount is for 'regularly priced items'. Instead it should say coupon is only good for high-priced name brand items. I prefer, when possible, to shop other stores with less deceptive policies. read more

Spent over $1,000.00 on custom frames for my living room. Went back a few months later to buy another matching frame for a new print. They had NOTHING close to my frames I just bought, more or less... the same frames? These were all custom frames. They do not have the same wood. the same style, etc. Nothing close. I guess you better buy all your frames at the same time? Can't believe they cannot order a frame, contact the manufacturer or anything? Since all for the same room and the prints all go together- they need to match each other. TOLD- the change frames they carry every 6 months ? Kind of hard to EVER buy another frame that matches or can be in the same room- when they discontinue carrying constantly ! read more

I usually come on here on mondays and there are always lines but today was just a short wait and I got everything I needed with awesome discounts and coupons from the app! The best part of my experience today though, was getting rung up by Esmeralda (hope I spelled it correctly!!). She was sweet and delightful; offering excellent customer service and smiles! She went above and beyond and got me out the door quickly and excited for my jewelry making! She definitely deserves a bonus and a raise if she hasn't already gotten one this year! I used the framing department's services for two custom orders. When the order was past its due date I had not received a call as promised. One of the two pieces had been framed cricked and used the wrong glass. The re-do was late also. read more

This store has the nicest cashier. Nayelli helped us with our purchase and on the phone when I called back. So very helpful when we purchased our first item and found that they where on sale so we went back to shop more and then went through her line again. We missed a bag of our purchases and when I called back after we got home she was very gracious on the phone. and had put our bag away for us to save it for when we came back in. The lines are always long no mattter what time of day I go here. Usually only one or two cahiers. The store is cluttered, and I can never find anyone to help me on the sales floor. Also, the fact that the bathroom door can only be opened by an employee is really frustrating when you have a little boy who has to go NOW, and you can't find someone to open the darn door! On 2 successive days I have gone to Michael's for flower arrangements and, on both occasions, could not have been more pleased. A standing ovation for Luis and Tanya !! Best experience ever at this Store Friday. I don't usually enjoy shopping here because of the long lines and crowded displays but they do typically have what I need art or last minute project wise. It seems like there's a lot more love here these days though and the Customer Service and friendly faces were abundant. I went in looking for some odd bits and what I couldn't locate I received help on and the two Employees I dealt with were pleasant and made the exhaustive hunt for obscure materials with me. I don't understand why seasonal things are sporadically dotted throughout the store but fortunately the Crew here does actually know their merchandise so it was pretty painless. read more

Though every Michael's have the same products, each one is designed slightly different so it is quite a pain trying to find the same product at a different Michaels. But the customer service has been great! I've been searching for red and yellow ribbon and they have helped me find it or if they were out, inform me when their next shipment would be in, etc. In any case, they provide me with other options to complete my project other than saying "sorry, we dont have it." read more

Your one stop shop for anything crafty or creative. They have stuff in there that I wouldn't even have thought of. I've gotten stuff to make ornaments, earrings, scarves, and plenty of high school projects. Poster boards, markers, stencils, etc. Also a great place to get vases. read more

We went in to have a painting framed. Then my son text me to cancel it. Michael's told me just come in with a receipt. So the next day I went in and was told it was too late and I couldn't get my son's money I had 24hr to change my mind. There was a lot of back and forth stressing my point. I actually shop here often because of the selection but never really enjoy my visits. Everything is marked up in price to make there %40 off gimmick look like your getting a deal while your probably paying more the items on sale that they would be everywhere else for cheaper not on sale. I have been to many Michael's stores but this one really disappointed me! They have almost all the things you need here. It looks small but it is neat and clean. However, the customer service here is the worst, especially the White American cashier man who wears glasses. He was so disrespectful, impolite, and did not even try to help when I asked about the sales! Seriously, the way he responded really made me want to return everything. We were so excited when we heard that Michael's framing department could add wire to the back of some art that our friend made us. We heard we could buy the materials and pay a small price to get it done correctly. This was not the case. I was pushed around to different associates and waited 10 minutes after ringing the bell at the framing department. When the associate finally came out, I asked what hardware was recommended and dismissed to the aisle I had already been on. I didn't get expertise, and was told to hang it myself. I wish I'd saved myself the drive. They were bothered that I was even in the store. Terrible customer service. read more

I went in this morning to buy some supplies and when I went to ask an employee where some things were she rudely walked away without saying a word. she loaded me off on another employee. I thought It was so unprofessional. I love going there and pick up a project or learn a new skill. Their art and knitting classes are amazing and have learned so much. The staff is friendly and the variety of things are endless. I can easily spend hours and hours in this place. Some times they have coupons on line or in the newspaper for some savings. The parking is plenty and is surrounded by lots of other shopes and restaurants to stroll around. I often go to this strip to see a movie with my family. read more
