I used to love Williams Sonoma. They had such great products and customer service. It's been a while since I've been in since there isn't one near me (north county coastal). I was in the area and stopped in recently. I love to wander through the store. The displays are beautiful. I could spend a long time just looking at everything. I did spend quite a bit of time on this visit. Only one employee acknowledged me while I was in the store. That was because we were walking towards each other in a small space. The rest of my visit was spent browsing but when I had questions there was no one around. There were staff members at the counter but they were chatting amongst themselves. A few customers came in and out while I was there but it wasn't busy at all. This store is good for looking at and touching physical items, but I will be ordering online. Williams Sonoma is a brand I have trusted since 2011. We bought many of our wedding gifts there and many anniversary gifts as well. I'm sad to say I'll never buy anything from Williams Sonoma ever again. I ordered a Breville Toaster Oven for my wife's birthday and was told it would arrive the day before her birthday. It did not arrive. I called to complain and about a week later a small, cheap blanket arrived from pottery barn - not the $400 toaster I ordered. They made me go through the trouble of returning the blanket I never ordered. And now nearly a month later they still have not processed my toaster order, but they certainly took my $400. I had to reverse charges through my credit card. I order the toaster right from Breville and it came 2 days later. Williams Sonoma is sad shell of it's former self and I think they are running active scams out of their warehouse - shipping blankets instead of other large/expensive items. read more

Horrible. I walk in to look for a gift and the store is empty. The 2 reps are too busy discussing Hamilton at the register to say hello. I look at the knives for 10 min with no offer to help. Then as I move on, the rep with white hair beard and glasses cuts me off without so much as glancing up at me as he heads to the back. So I pause to let him pass and keep moving toward the exit. He shouts to my back- "Is there anything I can help you find?" I reply "No thank you" and didn't turn around because he hadn't given a damn before when he cut me off. And he loudly proclaims to the other rep and my back "Mmh hmm! CHILLY CHILLY". Wow. A little kindness might have made a sale. Ugly. Won't be back. Online is nicer. Now that he's gone, you took it upon yourself to do whatever you wanted to escalate the situation you guys created. You have robbed me of my ability to finish culinary school which was the point of you doing what you did to me right? I'm so upset right now I can't even drive home. I had to demand respect from these people as a person with disabilities and a terminal condition and they spat in my face like I'm nothing. If this is how they treat me, I can't imagine how they treat other disabled patrons. Shame on you Samantha!! You do not rule the world or the lives of others. You don't get to majorly screw up someone's life without repercussions. Everything was worked out ahead of time and you took it upon yourself to cause problems. You knew I forced myself to drive down here to do this and you did what you did on purpose. William Sonoma you might want to get this lady under control before she gets you guys in trouble. She has no right to gaslight someone like me, she has no right to push someone like me into further illness, a straight panic attack, and my body shutting down in public with my child just because she wanted to. Then she punished me and refused to help any further because she pushed me into a panic attack I couldn't get myself out of. All I'm trying to do is not die sooner than later from toxic cookware I cannot use, to finish culinary school, and hopefully create something to leave my children before it's too late for me... and this woman did everything she could to destroy my ability to accomplish any of it. They could care less about what they were doing to cause my body to shut down in front of them, from how upset I was getting at how they were treating me. Like I didn't count, like I didn't matter, like I didn't know how things were supposed to happen for me today. I might have health conditions that affect my brain, but I am not crazy. They knew exactly what they were doing to me they did it on purpose. They acted as though what they were doing to me was no big deal. If you have experienced anything similar please reach out to me privately. Speaking up and speaking out is the only way to get these people to learn their lessons. It is experiences like this that have caused me to develop agoraphobia. It is such a challenge to get myself out of the house. That's why I call ahead of time to plan things ahead of time, and look at what they did to me. I just had surgery not too long ago and now I'm bleeding because of the extra added stress they've put me under today unnecessarily. I'm in so much pain I really think I should go to the ER. I don't know how much time I have left before I won't be able to function at all anymore before I die. Why do they think it's OK to do something like this to me? For these people to waste my time strength and energy and sanity like this is so so not OK!!! I can't stop crying... stuck at the mall, can't go to the bathroom, all because of William Sonoma employees. I wasn't mistreated by Samantha alone, I was also mistreated by some new person. A girl with strawberry blonde hair. She was so ugly and discriminatory towards me it was unbelievable. My body was shutting down right in front of her face and she did not care. That woman has no business working in high end Customer Service. Neither one of them have any business in high end Customer Service. William Sonoma sells products from ALL-Clad, I discovered that All-Clad lies about what their products are made of (specifically their lids to their high-end cookware). The regular customer service people at All-Clad will tell you that the lids are plated, but when you start to speak to the higher up management at All-Clad they'll tell you that it's 100% stainless steel. The lady I spoke to even called the customer service rep a liar, insisting that she was telling the truth about the lids being 100% stainless steel. For personal health reasons, I cannot cook with this cookware set and other items, I spent thousands of dollars to buy. read more

Do not buy Larnaca Teak furniture! I ordered my furniture in April. I finally received it in June. Within 2 days it was "bleeding" stain. It looks horrible. I called immediately and was told they would replace it. But I won't receive it until October! This means that the order for furniture I ordered in April will not be fulfilled for 6 months. I bought the furniture to have for several backyard parties, but now I have ugly furniture for these events. I offered to repair it at my cost if they refunded the furniture. I purchased the Tucci 11-piece set of pots/pans/lids. Beautiful set. However, they are extremely heavy and they scratch very easily. Williams-Sonoma is located inside the Fashion Valley Mall in Mission Valley. It is located near Neiman Marcus in the Lower Level right across from Crate and Barrel. Since the mall is so big, your best entrance Is at Nordstrom and Neiman Marcus in Parking Structure G. We parked in self-parking which was a bit of a walk but I would definitely choose the parking structure if I was buying anything heavy. We came to check out a crockpot at Williams Sonoma. The store is clean and packed with interesting cookware and gadgets. Service was very good. Jerry helped us select a Breville juicer that we've been looking at online for $20 less than the cheapest place we found online. Jessica helped us order the crockpot since they only had an open box one in the store. I definitely recommend this Williams-Sonoma. They had a good selection of products similar to other stores and service was very good. I would come back again. read more

In January 2023, I purchased 6 Larnaca Slate Grey Metal Kitchen outdoor cabinets form William Sonoma for over $12,000. I chose these cabinets and built my outdoor pool bar area according to the specifications of these exact cabinets. I was able to unpack the cabinets and finish the remodel with the purchased cabinets in May 2023. However, after just 1 month of unpacking them and putting them in place, I noticed that the stainless steel counter tops and handles had rust all over them. This is unexpected as stainless steel is known for its corrosion resistance and I paid so much for these doors. We called the store to make them aware of the condition, and they directed us to the customer service department in which the manager told us the items were NOT covered under their warranty program after 30 days of purchase and they would not be sending out a technician to even look at the pieces that are damaged. Williams Sonoma has not offered any other solution to this defect other than using a specific cleaner, Barstool cleaner, to which has not resolved the issues with the stainless steel. We could not be more disappointed with the quality of these cabinets. We will never shop at or recommend Williams Sonoma ever again. Their quality and customer service is horrible. read more

I am disappointed with William Sonoma. I have been a customer for 25 years, and I have to say the quality and the customer service have been terrible this past year. Customers need to check expiration dates before buying products. I spoke to a gentleman at the Fashion Valley store on 12/2/2022 about a product I bought on 11/29/2022, an organic beef stock that was outdated! The expiration date was Aug 2021! He was cool and said, "Sorry that happened. We will check our shelves and remove the outdated beef stock." No mention of what I was to do or a thank you for the information so that others would not buy it. Not sure if outdated stock is a safety issue, but this is NOT OK. I will need to return to the store and return it. This is the second time within 6 months that I have had to go back to the store to replace an outdated item. The first product was a Vanilla that I bought was outdated a year when I bought it. read more

My daughter was looking for an authentic Italian Bialetti Moka Espresso pot, an Espro Toroid Frothing Pitcher, a Handheld Milk Frothier, a can of Illy Espresso & some Lovely Williams Sonoma handcrafted Espresso Spoons. When you walk in, you're immediately not greeted. Instead, you are intentionally ignored by the minimum-wage-paid clerks, who are gossiping together. It's an uncomfortable feeling when you're browsing & seeing all this kitchen product beauty, then simultaneously hearing every other word spoken by the clerks being "she".."she".."she" in low tones. It's typical for a group of women getting their gossip on about other women. But what the hell? Are women that shallow & low-class to be gossiping about other women they don't like, while working in a classy joint that sells products upwards of over 1K, while there are customers in their presence inside the store? SMH. You would think they'd be more professional & take their jobs more seriously. I recently got a credit card from west elm & purchased thousands of dollars of Mid-Century furniture from them. The credit card can be used at all of their sister stores, including Williams Sonoma. So, as I said earlier, we were wanting to pick up a few items that we've been thinking about getting for awhile now. I had discounts that amounted to 40% off an entire order. The grey-haired heavy set woman I spoke to told me those products are only available at their on-line store. (I did see the hand-held frothier on display in the store.)That's fine & good for me, so I'll do just that. The grey woman acted as though I didn't count unless I was there to spend thousands of dollars. Well, I wasn't, but I was going to spend at least well over $100. Incidentally, there is a sign in the window beckoning customers to come in & purchase items up to 70% off. LOL Perhaps it was the fact we weren't glammed up & wore no makeup & we both wore our hair up in pony tails. Maybe it also was because we were wearing sweats & hoodies (btw, there's currently a cold snap in San Diego). Is "glam-shaming" a thing? Hah! Anyway, enjoy the beautiful pictures I took. My 4* are for the products only. I suggest you use this store as a look-see, then go home & buy it on-line. Just make sure you wear your Sunday's Best plus get glammed-up to the max if you want answers about any of the products. That's the only way you'll get any attention here. I love this location for its size and selection, but also because they have consistently good customer service. Of course, you'll get the occasional employee who doesn't care if you live or die, but if you want your questions answered, you need someone to help you find an item, and you just want your purchase needs met, this location is great. My experience is that they are helpful in-person and on the phone, and most of the time they are willing to help you locate items or tell you a little bit more about them, especially if they have experience with them. If you don't like how one employee interacts with you, just try working with a different one, because they have more helpful people than not. read more

As a cooking professional I have been postponing this review over the years because I still go to the store for specialty items and once in a while am disappointed but this time I was angered and took action. I bought a tiny 2oz jar of truffle butter for $25. There was no expiration date on it and nothing on the label saying refrigerate after opening. Well it's obvious that butter has to be refrigerated so obviously I did. After using only a teaspoon of it in my sauce I tightened the lid and put it back in the fridge until two days ago when I saw something I have never observed. The sides and the bottom of the jar where there is no air penetrating was filled with mold(look at the pictures). I took it to store and since the store was full I politely asked the manager if we can talk privately. I showed it to her and I prefaced by saying, I don't want my money back. She said that they don't this item anymore and they won't give me store credit and they don't accept food back. I explained that this item cost me $25 for a pinch and she said sorry. I asked if they don't accept any packaged item back and she said no!!!! I find this un-American especially when the store knows there is something wrong with the item they have sold!!! I just flew in this morning and walked in searching for a wedding gift. I had my backpack on and casual athletic clothing (the type you travel in). I was greeted promptly by a lady standing near the cash register. After she greeted me she turned to her co-worker at the register and said "a leftover from Comic-Con". Understand, this store is quiet, and I had no problem at all hearing EVERYTHING she said. The group of employees shared a laugh and went about casually greeting customers. I looked around a bit, taken back from what just transpired. I ended up finding a couple things and contemplating confronting them the entire time. The manager rung me up and asked if anyone was helping me, I politely responded "No", my transaction continued. They offered to gift wrap, which I agreed to. Again, still stewing over the rude comment. A lady emerged from the back and asked if I was Alex, and handed me the items. I left. Long story less long, these employees need to be more concerned with engaging with the customers and not with each other. This place is amazing. Everything that they have is really interesting and I want to take everything home to try it out! The customer service there is always super friendly and helpful. Even if they don't know what exactly you're looking for, they try to help you until you leave with exactly what you want. I will say their prices are a bit high BUT whatever you spend your money on is worth it. ABSOLUTELY THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPERIENCE EVER!! My wife and I went to the William-Sonoma store at Fashion Valley Mall this afternoon to buy additional kitchen cooking utensils to expand the set we bought at W-S just before Christmas. We bought 3 new silicon cooking spoons/ladels and two (2) monogrammed espresso cups. We get in line and this is where the complete failure in Customer Service occurred. FIrst, there is a line growing and only two cashiers servicing the line of customers. It seems the majority of the staff were in the back eating chili from the Chili Starter food they are selling. We wait in line for ~ 10 minutes while the customers being served by the cashiers seem to be having problems ringing up the items purchased. We finally are called up to one of the cashiers and she seems unable to ring up the pricing for the items we want to purchase, . . . . . . . goes to the display where the items were hanging, brings them back, still can't ring up the pricing, . . . . . this goes on for ~5 minutes. Then she calls someone to help her find the pricing? And instead of continuing to work with us, she turns her back and focuses on the customer next to us and starts to help that customer who already has a cashier ringing up her purchase? I ask, . . . ."Why can one cashier help one customer and finish?" No response, although, the other customers waiting in line speak up and agree. One woman says, "We just came from Pottery Barn, the same company that owns Williams-Sonoma, and Pottery Barn is the same way with the same problems!" Minutes later, a young man comes out and spends minutes trying to find the pricing for the cooking utensils (All Clad cooking spoons and Williams-Sonoma cooking spoons!! YES, even for their own spoons) - it seems everyone has to look at some computer to go to the W-S website to find pricing? He comes back and I ask him what is the problem? He gets defensive and says there is no problem and he was just asked to come out to help? I ask him why does checking out take 20 minutes for 5 items? He again gets defensive. One woman was so mad at how long it took to check out she walks up to the counter and asks why is it taking so long and says something to the effect here some cash and I'm taking these two bottles out of the store so she won't be called for shop lifting!!! Hilarious! The staff ignore her and continue with their mass confusion. This store is a complete mismanaged mess with untrained staff who have no management direction, systems that apparently don't work and require the staff to look up pricing on the W-S website, and believe eating the chili in the back room made with the Williams-Sonoma chili starter is what they should be doing and NOT carefully monitoring customer activity on the floor. The William-Sonoma store at UTC is excellent with exceptional staff. read more

I ordered a $350 item online and was given the option to pick up in store. I drove to the specified location, Fashion Valley, to pick it up, only to be told that the item was accidentally sold to someone else. (??) Since I used a gift card for this order, they couldn't re-order or refund me for their mistake - instead I had to wait for the gift card to be MAILED back to me in 5-7 DAYS. This happened March 2018. It is now January 2019, and after 2 customer service emails and 3 calls throughout the past 10 months, I've yet to receive my gift card in the mail!!! Essentially Williams Sonoma stole over $300 of my money and has held onto it for almost a year without resolving the issue. The manager at the Fashion Valley location is truly unhelpful. I've spoken to her regarding this issue a few times, only to be promised a resolution that I'm still waiting on. read more

Have you ever left a business and thought to yourself "Dammit! I regret buying anything from them after that debacle." We went to Williams Sonoma after seeing several items online that we wanted to get and figured we would see them in person before buying them. After fighting the hoards for a parking opportunity we made our way to the store. Once inside it was busy but not insanely busy. PLENTY of sales staff walking the store and a number of staff working the check out area. After being greeted by a roving staff member "Is there something I can help you with?" I described the items we were looking for. After several minutes and checking with other staff we were pointed to one of the items we asked about. We grabbed the item and I asked another staff member about one of the other items we were looking for.. "Hold on, I'll try and find out if we have that..." Never to be seen again. I asked another staff member after the first person never returned, "I'll have to check the computer wait here..." Never to be seen again. I gave up at that point and walked over to the knives to see what might make a good gift. "Can I show you something?" A staff member asked, "Yes I'm wondering what type of steel is used in the Shun knife..."Oh it's Damascus, it's the best.." Really? I'm a custom knife maker, please tell me more..."What kind of steel are they using for the Damascus" I asked..."Oh it's good steel, Damascus" Hhahahahha, I didn't laugh out loud but I was doing an internal face palm at that point. Seriously if you have no idea what you're talking about just say, "I couldn't tell you but let me check and try and find an answer for you.." I just felt like I was being treated like a homeless person asking for food samples and maybe some spare change by the staff. Even though I ended up spending almost $100 there I left regretting it and wished I would have left before handing over my debit card. read more

I don't go into Williams Sonoma often and every time I walk in to purchase something I am reminded of why my visits are so far and few between. What is the No. 1 Customer Service Rule? Anybody?? Greet your customers!! There was a store associate right next to me for a few minutes while I was looking thru a section. She never said a word. Finally decided to just ask her my question after not finding the product and she walked away and rushed to the back. Trying to flag someone else was a waste of time. When I finally decided to check out and ask my question at the counter. The line was constantly being interrupted by other customers asking questions. "Excuse me?, do you have this ? Or that?" And the cashier stops say yes I will be right with you"! Then finishes transaction, completely ignores the line and starts assisting that customer. Leaving the people in line to wait longer for another cashier. Mind you there were several associates as soon as they would help someone they would ring them up, get interrupted and leave the counter again. There is obviously a line of people waiting to make a purchase and instead of assisting them in that order.... The cashiers constantly stop to assist other people that think they have the right to cut in line. Maybe I should just order my favorite counter top spray online to avoid the complete fiasco that goes on in there. After reading other reviews I'm not the only one with bad customer service. It's an easy fix but obviously Williams Sonoma isn't worried about it. I love the products here and the quality is never disappointing I just hate paying so much and having crappy service. I signed up to be on their mailing list many years ago... today it finally paid off. They offered 2 All Clad french skillets in the new D5 Stainless steel for $129. To most people, that sounds like way too much money for 2 fricken' frying pans, (i know).. but if you are an avid cook then you know all about All Clad and that its a total seal since the normal price is $265. More than half price baby! Its like buying a $200K ferrari for $98K. Do you need it? Probably not, but if you have it its just fricken' awesome! Not wanting to pay for shipping i called the nearest WS and checked if they had it in stock and if i was able to get it at that price. They did! When i entered the store, there was no advertising for the epic deal, but i just inquired about it, and they brought it out from the back. Muscles in white wine sauce, Linguine with clam sauce, seared scallops.... here i come! I'm not one to shop at these high end places very often but if you enjoy cooking or want to get into it, their mailing list is a great place to start. I truly love this store... Went in today and was helped by a team member named Nancy. She was extremely helpful. She seemed like a person who is genuinely passionate about the work that she does. She was very knowledgable of the products available in the store. One note though. She informed me that the location will be closing for remodel on March 1 and won't be back open until June. On the plus side, it is not JUST a remodel. They are taking over the shop next door so the location will be doubled in size when they re-open. Woo hoo!! I love this store! If I were getting married, I would make my registry here! The ladies that work here are really nice, and majority of the time they're cooking up samples of their new seasonal products. The pumpkin bread pudding they sampled for the Fall season was DELICIOUS! This place is is like an ultra high end version of Bed Bath & Beyond. They have all copper cookware that's on display, many familiar brands of dutch ovens such as Staub, Le Creuset, etc. and this glorious ALL COPPER Kitchenaid Stand Mixer! They even have an IMPRESSIVE kitchen knives section, expensive but of great quality. They carry my boyfriend's favorite brand Wüsthof, lol. Among the store you'll find unique, quirky kitchen items, like Star Wars themed spatulas with R2D2, Darth Vader and C3P0 heads, and Star Wars cookie cutters! There's unique baking mixes, dessert gift sets, and different flavored olive oils that would make great gifts. Williams-Sonoma hot chocolate mix is so luxurious; it's not powder it's shavings of chocolate! They even offer different flavors such as peppermint (has bits of crushed up peppermint candies) and Chai tea to name a couple. These hot chocolate mixes come in a sturdy, air tight tin, and they make great gifts! During the holidays Williams-Sonoma offer gift-wrapping for your items; for my hot chocolate mixes they wrapped them up in cellophane and tied a pretty ribbon around it. Nancy Eagleton, registry guru, was incredibly knowledgeable regarding your product lines and spent a remarkable amount of time with us to insure we made prudent and informed selections. I must admit, that I was initially hesitant to be an active participant in the registration process. Nancy "Eagle" Eagleton took us under her wing (apologies for the pun), took her time with us and in the end had us register for items perfectly suited to us (including many we had not previously considered).
