The wait time is far too long. The second is their return policy. The policy is any clearance are considered Final Sale no refund/ no exchange. Poor service, bought foil balloons, they took.... I would say 15 mins till they attended me mind you I was the only one in line then the lady who blew up the ballon's don't even tie it well, went outside to put it in my car and and one of the $12 balloons ( bought 2 34in balloons) flew away I was so pissed off because when I looked at the second ballon the string was barley holding on worst experience ever! read more

Amazing birthday party--we wanted to throw our son his first birthday party with friends this birthday, but couldn't afford a big do and wanted something to keep everyone busy and happy. Well, we couldn't be happier with our experience at the Michael's in Santa Maria. A dinosaur party for eight kids, including the birthday boy--the kids got to create three dinosaur-themed masterpieces. The staff could not have been kinder nor more helpful. Not really happy with either the Company or the store policy on the UPS Drop Off location. I've been coming here for a couple of years and sometimes I would have to wait but I didn't mind and they would take my UPS package and they would scan it and give me a receipt or if their app wasn't working they would just take the package, I didn't mind, I never had a problem, I was thinking, I saw a UPS driver pass by the store and I should of just waved and he would of taken it from me, but I was considerate and was thinking of the store so they would get the business of taking the package. The associate was at the front and she was willing to take the package. She was having difficulties at first because her device didn't have the UPS app so she went to the back and got a different device and came back and tried to log in but was having difficulties. She apologized and to make this short, she tried locating different devices and still difficulties getting on the network, finally maybe about 10 or 15 minutes she told me to go to another Michaels location possibly in Lompoc or any other store or any other UPS drop off location. I told her why can't I just leave it here and she said they can't be responsible. So the bad review is not on the associate, but on the Store management or Company. Don't have this service if you can't accept the package no matter what, so now I will not be going to Michaels for any of my business, I'll be going next door to Hobby Lobby or Beverly Fabrics. read more

Expensive Art Framing - Great Employee... This review is only for the Aaron Brothers art framing part of the store. My wife and I moved to Nipomo in the late spring of 2018 and brought some prints to Aaron Brothers for reframing. Although the price was on the high side, they did a very good job. During that same move, the glass broke in several pieces and we decided to put those aside for another day. That day recently came and we went to Michael's for some advice. Lily, the person who helped us, could not have been nicer. She appeared to be the only employee in the art framing department at the time we arrived in the early afternoon so we had to wait for her to finish with the customer ahead of us. Lily indicated several times that she hadn't forgotten us and appreciated our patience. When it was our turn, Lily carefully took everything apart on both frames and removed the pieces of broken glass before throwing them away for us. She took the necessary measurements for replacements and outlined our choices on her computer. Since the prints were somewhat large - each about 25 inches by 30 inches - Lily recommended a lighter weight cover rather than regular glass which would have been a bit cheaper. However, we decided against going ahead because the cost was roughly $350 apiece (even using our original frames) which was more than we had in mind. Although the whole experience took longer than expected and we did not use their services, Lily was great. Friendly, informative, personable and careful with our property. She wrapped all the nuts and bolts together and we left the store...without the shattered glass. read more

Picture it 2019 - Sicily jk that was golden... seriously tho. Stephanie she's by far the best associate, she remembers my face and always makes a point to wave and say hello to me. That's where it kinda ends fer me. The assets protection department consist primarily of a manger standing at the front end by the doors. When customer's would walk into Michales she would say Hello.. Or welcome... we'll most customers she greeted. Every now and again,,.. one would walk in and she grab her headset covering her mouth, while dead stair no blinking, straight eye contest going on AND ON everyone in line could see and HEAR .... the awkwardness... it was thick. She would lock eyes with whoever as they walked thru the threshold ... she would loudly whisper ?????nuhu/ nope ....into her head set and poof one person gets all the judge mental excellent customer service. SO ONLY WHEN THEY THINK YOUR A THIEF WILL THEY BE ATTENTIVE I've seen them change out their shirts put on jacket pin up the hair and follow a woman her whole time there. While the woman was making her way through the store, other customers would ask other customers questions because the sales associate was to busy playing hide and go steal. I like how modern and spacious this store looks. However, I am not fully satisfied with the service I received. I was looking to buy a diploma frame and the only one frame I wanted was slightly damaged. I asked the employee if the store could order another since they didn't have them in stock. Employee said that they couldn't order but that I could order online to the store so that I wouldn't have to pay shipping. I left and went to order a frame online. Lo and behold, they do not offer free shipping to the store, you still gotta pay for it! What's even the point? I feel like the employees should know the basic store policies such as this. Went in to use a 50% off coupon today to try to save a few dollars and the lady at the front used it on a 79 cent piece of paper instead of my $5.00 item. Wouldn't have really mind either way, but the woman was so rude to the customer before me and myself, so I think this 2 star rating is fair if that's how you treat your customer. I needed to freshen up some art. My lithographs had matting which looked a decade or two old. I met with Samantha who is EXCELLENT with colors. She has worked on some of my smaller pieces and her choice of colors couldn't be better. In addition, I am replacing the glass and acrylic with museum quality glass so the colors and the paper do not fade. I have had her work on some old (over 100 years) artwork and more recent. The attention to detail has been on-point. I will be back on Friday to pick up and drop-off pictures. It's like getting new artwork! read more

4/20/2024 The store had signs outside as well as inside offering 25% off on all purchases reg and sale. I had seasonal items in my cart which were 70%off. I was not given the extra 25% off because I was told that was for internet orders. There was a bar code you could download for your internet orders. This info was in very small print on the bottom of the sign. Multiple times in the passed year I have tried to use a bogo sale only to find there were not 2 in stock and they could not or would order them in for me. Would not check another store to have it shipped. Multiple times trying to use a Michaels coupon in the Michaels store was told that the item I wanted to use it on was not a Michaels product. No signage anywhere stating it wasn't a michaels product. I feel that Michaels advertising is deceptive. I am an artist so in the past I have bought many supplies from them. If the coupons offered won't be honored Amazon is a much better bet. You know what you will receive free shipping and exactly how much you will pay. No guessing. I feel coned by Michaels. read more

I have never been to this location. Upon walking in the first thing i noticed was the nice smell and how clean and organized everything is. Not one item seemed to be out of place. The workers the location were very helpful and tried to get us the best deal possibly. They have tons of jewelry making supplies beads, glass, crystal etc.. I was overwhelmed! One gal in particular was SO helpful in assisting this newbie with how to use jewelry tools. Michaels is by far the largest craft store in our area; however, they do a poor job keeping their shelves stocked, at least with items that I am typically looking for. Today, it was white vinyl. Just plain white vinyl for my cutting machine. Not a roll to be found. Last week, it was gray chalk paint. Not silver metallic. Just simple gray chalk paint. Nada. I could chronicle for you every month the ordinary item that cannot be found in the store. Thankfully there is a Joann fabrics less than half a mile from Michael's. It is a tiny store, it usually costs more, but at least they keep their shelves stocked. During Covid shut down, I ordered a picture frame online @ did curbside pickup. When the clerk brought the item to my car, I decided it was not what I was looking for @ rejected the picture frame. The following month I noticed my credit card was charged for the item; I took my credit statement & online order to Michaels to correct the cashier had no idea how to assist & ask me to call the 1 800#. We are very happy with the framing done by Michael's/Aaron Brothers. (I should have posted this sooner as the job was done a few months ago.) Our four mid-century Japanese woodblock prints look beautiful! The workmanship is great. Margie was pleasant and patient and gave us good suggestions as to style and color of the frames and mats. The price was reasonable (after the coupon and senior discounts). The hardware hanging system provided by Michael's is handy, but you still need to plan and measure where you want to hang the picture. read more
