Our group of friends , usually 8to 10 people, goes to Michaelangelo's on University almost every Friday night. The pizza is pretty good. But the food is outstanding. Large portions and reasonable prices.

Best pizza around... white with ricotta is my favorite. Fresh dough, toppings and salads.

I love that they serve individual slices of pizza all day. So far it's the closest I have found to NY pizza.

Plenty of parking, plenty of seating, and whether you sit inside or outside, you're in for something special. Now for the best part... the pizza. We eat pizza about once a week and it's my husband's favorite food. We brought our granddaughter with us, and pizza is her favorite too. She immediately knew what she wanted: mushrooms and pepperoni. Done. As for us? We had no idea where to start. We ordered the Wise Guy: vodka sauce base, sesame seed crust, spicy soppressata, ricotta, fresh basil, and Calabrian chili hot honey. We also asked our server for their favorite recommendation and ordered the Vodka-Roni: vodka sauce, mozzarella, pepperoni, burrata cheese, and fresh basil. Were we dreaming? This is hands down the best pizza we have ever had anywhere in the world. New York pizza? Sorry... step aside. You've officially been removed from our top three. They are now #1. This was the most flavorful pizza we have ever eaten. I'm usually not particularly picky about pizza. My husband, however, is a pizza connoisseur. Going forward, every pizza will now be judged against these. We live in Polk City and only travel down this way every few months or so, but this place is now officially a destination. We would absolutely go out of our way for this pizza. And can we talk about the sesame seed crust? Where have you been all my life? Absolute genius. The staff were incredibly kind, full of suggestions, helpful with leftovers, and made the experience even better. And finally... the chocolate-dipped cookies. Wow. Some places serve pizza. This place serves an experience.

This is only the second time we've seen our 5-year-old completely devour an entire pizza--once in California and now here in Florida. Considering we live in what's supposedly the pizza capital of NYC, that probably says more than anything else about this place. The service was great. Everyone was genuinely kind, and since our friends and family are regulars, they were greeted like old friends and we were welcomed just as warmly. The pizza itself was excellent. Even the basic cheese pizza stood out, which is usually the real test. We also ordered the 1837 and a jalapeño pizza, and everything was demolished without hesitation. We also noticed a solid beer selection, and everyone seemed to be enjoying theirs as well. You order at the bar and they bring the food out, and there's also outdoor seating which looked really nice. Looking forward to going back on our next visit to Sarasota.

We shared the almond ricotta triangoli, which were amazing, such delicate flavor, the chef knows how to make vegetarian food taste very good. The waitress was very friendly and helpful with answering all my questions. We ordered 2 glasses of pinot noir which were decent, fried artichoke hearts for the appetizer and two pizzas one cheese and one with garlic, cheese, and little chilies. The appetizer was really good but I think it could have been elevated a notch if the dip was more of a lemon base dipping sauce. The pizzas were both thin and very tasty, nice tomato base, I liked the little difference of crust (thin & crunchy) compared to your normal softer crust on an Italian wood fired pizza. I like when I'm able to have preferences on pizza crusts on any given day. I would like to go back and try something else next time to see what this little spot has to offer. Overall it was a good experience and we will try it again in the future. Food 8.0 Atmosphere 8.0 Service 9.0
