They sell good pies here, just don't call it "NY Style". Extra thin and crispy crust it is not, neither is it loaded with cheese and sauce. They do get extra point for selling slices to satisfy sudden cravings (but not enough to want to eat a whole pie.) Love the name 'Patel'-lini. Mr. Patel should try inventing new pies -- chicken tikki masala pizza, tandoori chicken pizza, vindaloo seafood pizza,... just make the crust extra thin and crispy. read more

I did not get to try the food as the service was so unfriendly. No greeting when I walked up to counter to order. 3 guys up there and not a single hello or acknowledgement of my presence. I ordered, paid, tipped, and asked very nicely for my slice to be cooked well done / crispy and sat down to wait. 4 or 5 min later, the guy at counter just called out "pepperoni" when it was done and I went to counter to pick up. There was only 1 other occupied table in there - no one else waiting for food as they were already eating - but the counter guy could not even be bothered to walk the slice over to my nearby table or even to say thank you or enjoy or anything. Just shoved the plate at me when I went up to the counter. The slice was undercooked and floppy / greasy looking and so I asked for it to be cooked more and then a different guy started arguing about the doneness. I said never mind, I don't even want it any more and walked out. Everyone there was decidedly apathetic to downright rude. No thanks and never again. After one extra-long day at the beach in Sarsota, we decided to just order in...so I chose this pizza joint again! We actually ordered from here on our last stay a few years ago...and chose it again. Just as I remembered it, the pizza slices were HUGE. Guess it's a New York Style Pizza! They were able to accommodate our request for half Bacon, and half Pepperoni...so Yay! As expected, they were delish. However, I recall it being even better before...or could it be that I've had one too many exceptional pizzas since then...or maybe I wasn't hungry enough?? I really like Mr Patel's Italian restaurant. I've been going here since it was in its original location sometime back in the 1990s. This eggplant parmesan sub I ordered was about as long as my index finger. I should have put a quarter or something next to it for scale. Got a large sausage pie to go on a Saturday night, figured I'd keep it light since I had a big day of TV watching planned for the next day. The inside was clean and the staff was friendly. The large pizza is massive (no complaints here). It's advertised as New York style pizza, and it definitely is. The crust isn't thick, but it's also not too thin, it's right in the middle. Generous on the toppings and cooked well. It wasn't too flaccid, as shown in the photos below. Passed the flaccid test, it didn't just flop over when the pizza was held by the crust. The pie was cooked exceptionally , but it didn't have a ton of flavor, that's why I'm going with four stars instead of five. The place is definitely worth a try. read more

It was fine After reading some of the other reviews I decided to pay attention for smiles from the people working at Patellinis, and saw none. This is a business only place, not a happy place. That said, it was not unpleasant to order a couple of slices and a drink. They offer 2 cheese slices and a drink for $5.99, which is a pretty good deal. I got mine with pepperoni which added .55 per slice, still not a bad deal. The slices were heated up in just a few minutes and were very hot. The slices were tasty, plenty of cheese and lots of oil. The place was fine. They have a few TVs and had background music. Convenient for those working at lower Main St, street parking can be a challenge for those motoring in. Watch your step leaving, the mat in front of the door looks like you could easily trip. read more

The restaurant is easy to find and interior is clean and spacious. Obviously, the best part about the place is the pizza. Their NY style pizza is delicious, cooked to perfection, drizzled with just enough pizza grease to remind me of Queens, NY.
