A total elitist. She won't accept any insurance. Charges $1600 for the first visit insurance will not reimburse you for that. Basically she saying she'll only treat the wealthy because who can afford $1600 for a simple office visit where she'll do everything that every other doctor would do. We have all been searching for the perfect Doctor- Well, I have found her- Dr. Israel, is (in all my years of dealing with many many Dr.s) the most professional, the most caring, the most nurturing and on top of all that- she is always there for you-- gone are the days of multiple emails, multiple phone calls, multiple hours of waiting for someone --anyone- to get back to you. I am a new patient of Doctor Israel's. I have only had one visit, but I was very impressed. I expected to be hurried through my appointment in 15 minutes, but she spent a lot of time with me answering my questions about a potentially scary health issue. Our experiences with this doctor ended-up being the same as what Iris F, wrote on 11/8/2013. Our experience with Israel was as follows: my step-father had a serious brain injury in late September of 2008. Eventually, about 3 1/2 years or so after his injury, he had become a patient of Israel. She made big promises to always be there for them, would not abandon him, etc. And, at first, she kept her word. She even made a few trips to the house when it was not feasible to bring him there (to see her). So, it seemed she would keep her promise to help him--and my mother--to the very end! So we thought... Well, last year, about August or September, my step-father was having complications to what appeared to be an infection of some sort. So, my mom called Israel and asks for her help. But instead of responding to her call, which ended-up being many calls for help, Israel would not return calls or claim that her assistant never gave her the message that my mother called! (Incidentally, Iris so correctly points out that Israel's assistant is rude and makes access to Israel difficult.) Eventually, Israel finally agreed to make a house call, but would not show up! Didn't even have the courtesy to let them know she wasn't coming! For whatever reason Israel TOTALLY ignored my mom's repeated calls to her for help and apparently abandoned them, even though Israel "promised" to always be there when my step-father needed help! Just as Israel ignored Iris's repeated calls for help for her elderly mother, so did Israel ignore my mother's repeated calls for help! In the meantime, my step-father's infection continued to get worse! Eventually, for another reason, my step-father was taken to UCLA hospital, where we found out that he had an abscess on his prostrate (by now it had been about a month since Israel began ignoring my mother's call for help!) Unfortunately, despite UCLA's best attempt to get rid of the abscess (without performing a general surgery while under general anesthesia, which could not be done due to his brain injury), it could not be removed. Eventually, his lungs had become so compromised due to the infection, my mom had to make the difficult choice to let him go in peace. So, do I blame Israel for his passing? No, I don't. what I blame her for is her TOTAL lack of professionalism, and instead of letting her know in a timely manner that she would no longer treat my step-father, she just simply ignores them. We will never know, to any degree of certainly, that if Israel had been more responsive when first called about his condition, if the outcome would have been different. I only know that she just simply abandon him with out warning, and apparently didn't care as to what happen to him. As Iris F. said, "Pathetic" I double that sentiment! Incidentally, Iris F posted her comment on 11/8/2013, the same day that my mother decided to stop my step-father's treatments, and to allow him to go in peace. He died on 11/12/2013. read more

Not only has Dr. I. been an excellent diagnostician and comfort for me... but she also has a vast network of specialists she has referred me to. Dr Michelle Israel is amazing. I don't think she takes insurance so it does end up costing some $ but I really believe its worth it. This was a dream scenario for someone like me. I don't have the best history with doctors because I've always felt they were desensitized, hasty in diagnosis, and always rushing through their examinations to get to the next patient. However, Dr. Israel, couldn't have been more understanding, compassionate, gentle, kind, and thorough in her examinations while taking her time during each visit. She follows up with my results as soon as she receives them from the lab and takes the time explain everything thoroughly. Not to mention, her bedside manners are simply ideal--she is warm, engaging, and thoughtful--always remembering whatever I express is going on in my life, aside from my medical health and history. Dr. Israel called me in mid January at 11:30 pm. Guessing she wanted me to take off my post. Looks like she found someone else.

Dr Israel has been my 91 year old mother's dr and mine as well for the last few years and we have always found her to be responsive, professional, delightful and helpful. I have emailed her at all hours of the night with issues and I have always received a prompt email response or follow up phone call. Just know upfront that she does not take Medicare or insurance but if you do have a PPO, the office will give you a claim form and you can bill your own insurance for partial reimbursement. When my mom (who has severe dementia), could not continue with Dr Israel because she needed a Medicare Doctor, Dr Israel graciously referred one to Mom. The truth is it will be a great loss for mom because no one is more compassionate and respectful than Dr Israel. She treated mom like a queen and the new Medicare dr certainly does not have Dr Israel's compassion, warmth or bedside manner. She is a very special lady and takes pride in knowing each and every one of her patients personally and I know that I am in good hands under her excellent care. I know I can find a doctor who is on my PPO plan but I don't want to leave this very special Doctor. read more

Dr. Israel has been my doctor for several years now as a matter of fact now that I in FL I fly all the way back just for my annual physical and if there would be a serious Issue she is the only one I would see. She is thorough and makes you feel calm no matter what the situation is. I have been coming to see Doctor Israel for over 4 years and I can't say enough good things about her. I have been meaning to post a review for a very long time, but I always forget. Anyway - I just got my annual physical yesterday in her new Beverly Hills location. Nice change! Small waiting area. Fabulous attitude by her new staff. Though her location has changed, she remains the same. Very kind and down to earth. I am 60 years old and have to say that Dr. Israel is quite possibly the finest physician I have ever met. She is wonderful. She is cautious and preemptive at the same time. Right on the money. She is a trouble shooter and the cornerstone of my medical care. She takes a personal interest in you and remembers what you tell her. Unlike most doctors, she truly listens and I never feel rushed. You will not find a better Doctor anywhere. The fact that my wife and I can have lunch in Beverly Hills on 'doctor days' is just a bonus. ha In my opinion, Doctor Michele Israel may be the best doctor in LA.She is no longer on Wilshire.
