No spa chairs but the pedicure lasts a long time and it very relaxing. Tons of gel colors! Excellent mani! Finally!!!!! I'm so happy! I used to get my nails done for years. Then I left the corporate world and got into what I love...Flowers and designing. My hands went from perfectly manicured to hideous. They are burned from the clue gun, cut from knives or clippers, poked from wire and rose thorns.. to make the picture uglier... I'm also a nail biter you would think that an adult woman who hands are touching flowers from different parts of the world would keep her hands out of her mouth. Occasionally I would search on line to see if a nail Salon was enticing enough to make me want to invest my time and money. Well the year and day has finally come that I couldn't stand the site of my hands anymore and this time in my search Michelle's popped out to me... so I made an appt and went. When Ashley pulled forms out instead of tips I had to contain myself not to do a happy dance. I haven't seen tips in beyond years. I have an issue as most do - the one with the crooked index finger... she handled my incredibly short nails and put a perfect full set on me. I went for my 1st fill after almost 3 weeks... after 3 wedding set ups & 1 quinceañera with draping I only had 1 broken nail. I Love this shop... I already love Michelle and Ashely. I've no idea what Liz is on about - frankly she sounds like an awful customer to deal with. I've been coming to Michelle to get my nails done for a few months now, and I've always come away happy. Not only is she a fun person to talk to, she does exceptionally good work, and I'm very sad about moving away from the area. I think it will be hard to find someone who cares so passionately about doing a perfect job. When I've been unsure of what color I'd like to go with, Michelle always helped me out with interesting choices - she was willing to try everything, from unusual hues to abstract (and more time consuming) designs. I received a ton of compliments on the looks we tried, because they were all professionally done. This is someone who will definitely take care of your needs. (And the only time my nails started to lift, or actually broke off, is when I put too much stress on them - something that would absolutely shatter a normal nail. My mistake! Michelle! Where have you been all my life?! I must say I just love when Michelle does my nails and when Mina does my pedicure. Just love it! First off it's not your "normal" nail factory type experience where you go in, they ask you what you want, you pick a color, and then you have no idea what's going on and what anyone is saying. It's not like that at all. It's more like hanging out at your girlfriend's place, getting your nails done, listening to KOST, and having a lovely relaxing time. Michelle has lots of great ideas and has broken me out a bit of my conservative repetitive side in terms of my nails. I used to always get silk wraps with a light baby pink shade, cappuccino color, or a white French and that was it. Now I've moved onto gel nails which last longer and are much more durable. Also we've done a teal glitter dipped French, light champagne pink glitter French, and many other shades. I just LOVE the bling bling and get TONS of complements on my nails too. Even 4 - 5 weeks later when I desperately need to get them done since my nails have grown out quite a bit I still get complements because they still look great. Now. Pedicure. Let me tell you! I don't get pedicures very often since I figure I can do them myself but my oh my that was until I met Mina. I really need to talk myself out of wanting a pedicure every time I go there because I definitely want one all the time! Her pedicures are not the run of the mill pedicure either. She does a warm scrub, cooling mask, and all sorts of stuff. It's amazing. Also when your feet get really bad (which I embarrassingly enough I did have to get this once) she has this ultra strength crazy take off all the crap from your feet solution. It's crazy amazing and my feet were back to gorgeous after I had been having some feet issues. I just died. I was so amazed. Also, she's super hygienic which I LOVE. Everything she uses is disposable; even the foot file thing! None of this lets wash off the dead skin off of the pumice stone and re-use it on the next client crap. DISPOSABLE. To finish off let's discuss pricing. Don't get me wrong, when I moved to this area I was like WTF? How come everyone either has bad reviews or they are super crazy priced? UGH. Then I got desperate and said ok, I'll give Michelle's Nails a try. $45-50? Shoot me. Well I fell in love. LOL $45-50 and my nails look fabulous and they last 4-5 weeks. Honestly I go every 5 weeks to give my wallet a break and they still hold up! Before I was spending about $30 every 2-3 weeks so I figure it evens out in price anyway and I'm getting something SO MUCH BETTER. It's just a different caliber. Call ahead for appointments. I just moved to Redondo from Orange County earlier this year and have been trying to find a good nail salon... started searching on Yelp to assist with my search... I came across Michelle's Nails and found only 10 reviews but they were all 5 star reviews -- so I made an appointment. Prior to arriving I explained to Michelle that I had recently put acrylics on but wasn't interested in keeping them on...she told me she was scheduling me with Ashley who was an expert with that area... and that she would take excellent care of me. I also explained that the nail salon around the corner form her salon had been over cutting my cuticles and damaging the nail beds of both my fingers and toes by scraping harshly with a clipping tool, which resulted in thickening, dried out cuticles and thinning my nails, so I had gone back to Orange County to an excellent nail salon that I used to frequent to have a mani pedi and left with no polish on my toes to allow them to breathe for 1 month and had put acrylics on my fingernails because they were so thin as a temporary fix. My toes were still looking great, from the previous pedicure a month ago and my cuticles were already better just by discontinuing services from the other shop around the corner so I wasn't in that bad of shape when I came in for the mani/ pedi. Michelle's is conveniently located walking distance from my house, so I was hoping that this would become my new salon. Ashley sat me down in a non adjustable office desk style chair that only had one position locked in (not a relaxing spa chair like I am accustomed to) and began working on my feet first... She asked me if I have trouble with ingrown toe nails to which I replied no, never. Without mentioning it, she changed the square shape of my toe nail to round, which I don't understand at all... I only noticed after I left the salon and walked out into the sunlight. The shop is small and isn't well lit at all. While she is doing the foot scrub she asks me what gel nail color I would like for my toes, I said, well, I was considering leaving my nails unpolished for another month to continue allowing them to breathe and get stronger, to which she replies well gel nail-polish will protect the thin nail and last a long time. I then replied, yes, but its still harsh to remove it and I don't want to rely on gel polish to provide strength to the nail or have to go through the lengthy removal process every time I want to change colors on my toes... she said okay, well normal polish is fine too... I said, well.. I'm still leaning toward keeping them unpolished to prevent staining the nail. She said any light color will be fine and will not stain the nail... I said even though the previous salon had thinned my nail so much? Because that's what was happening before - I only ever wear light pinks and taupe's or french on my toes... to which she insisted would not happen now... : / Next she began removing the polish I had on my fingernails over my acrylic nails and then started filing my acrylics down to thin them out, but in the process, lost the integrity of the shape of my nails - then she immediately began prepping my nail for polish, without giving me a manicure! What?! I was there to figure out a plan to discontinue the acrylics, so I wasn't sure what she was doing, but tried to remain patient and trust she knew what she was doing. Next she says pick a color, and gives me several gel nail colors to choose from, so I selected a color similar to my toes... and she begins to paint my nails??? What happened to the manicure portion of this exercise?! And why would anyone need gel on top of acrylic nails?! Obviously she was up-selling the services without disclosing it. The nail shape is now lumpy and bazaar looking and I am beginning to realize she isn't the expert I was told she was... (sigh) and then her next client arrives early - as I mentioned earlier its a very small shop, so I don't want to cause a seen at this point and tell myself to chalk it up to another painful learning experience. I ask how much I owe her and she says $90! Wait... what?!!! I'm sorry, did you Say $90 or $19? She repeated, .. $90! WOW! I said for a regular pedicure and gel nails polish it's $90? !! Yes, she said... $40 for the pedicure (non spa style) and $50 for the gel polish ---so, I reach into my wallet and hand her my credit card at to which she says oh, no... we ONLY accept cash or checks. Ummm... Are you serious?!! WHY DIDN'T YOU MENTION THAT IN THE BEGINNING?! She replies, Oh, I thought you knew... I'm a new client - how would I know that? How many people walk around with their checkbook or $100 dollars cash on them these days?! Ugh! Knowing I am a new client, the first thing I think they should have started out with is please be advised we only accept cash or checks. Morale of the story folks is ASK LOTS OF QUESTIONS BEFORE YOU SIT YOUR BUTT IN AN UNCOMFORTABLE CHAIR FOR 90 MINUTES! read more

If you are looking for great experience from a talented staff look no further. I called in a few days prior to my appointment- eager to try the new state-of-the-art LCN gel nails. Not only was Michelle trained in GERMANY to do this (I know, amazing right?), she assured me she was going to take a look at my nails and determine what was best of them. I was impressed already. I have been biting my nails since kindergarten. This has been a source of embarrassment for me for years. I had lost all hope- acrylics were painful and unrealistic for me- and plus they destroyed my nail beds. Most nails places I had gone to in the past would make snarky comments about the condition of my nails, but not Michelle. She immediately got to work. Her kindness and compassion was so comforting for me, she is gentle, patient, and most of all TALENTED. When she finished my nails I couldn't believe the transformation. I now feel so proud to show my nails off to the world. I can wear rings again! In addition, she shaped them beautifully, and the best part is they feel like natural nails. The gel she used is hard as a rock. They are sturdy as can be, unlike acrylics. She explained to me that they bond to the nail without having to grind down your nail bed. OK... Let me just say that Michelle's Nails ROCKS. I get constant compliments on my hands and feet. There is absolutely NO lifting on my acrylic or gels... and she is open to listening to all of my needs. It is frankly a wonderful, symbiotic experience. I drive over 30 miles to see her. To most of my friends they think I am nuts to drive so far.... however I have a few requirements of a great Nail Salon. 1.ABSOLUTE CLEANLINESS. - this place is spotless. You could eat off the floors. 2. ATTENTION TO ME.- since she is the only manicurist ( she just acquired another recently)... She boks her appointments to help her client be taken care of 100%. 3. AT THE END OF THE DAY - i AM NOT SUFFEREING. - this means - I am not going to get an infection from dirty equipment, she will not use CHEAP yellowing product, and I don't have to worry about my nails being over drilled, or my cutilces being destroyed. Even my 'problem' nails are taken care of. I cannot walk into a "run of the mill" nail shop ever again. 20 bucks IS not worth long term nail bed damage. I have expereinced that .....but never with Michelle. I have been going to michelle for nearly 5 years. Even when I had to cut nails out of the budget for a year - she was very supportive and then let me back in my appointment slot. You cannot go wrong by booking with her.
