Deceptive Pricing and Poor Service at Your Salon!! Hey, I walked out of there on Saturday feeling ripped off and furious. Met with the owner on Friday was quoted one price, however after arriving on Saturday to start the process the price changed to double the amount. I showed Diane (stylist) a picture of what I wanted my hair to EVENTUALLY look like. I know from talking to Michelle (owner) on Friday that it was going to take at least two sessions, price was told to me $225-250. I was quoted by Diane on Saturday 155.00 just for bleaching my hair, if i then wanted baby lites in, it would be 3 something!!! What exactly is 3 something, is that an amount they decide they want to charge you after already pricing you something completely different?? I felt like I was being scammed and taken advantage of. I asked the stylist to rinse off the bleach , I paid, which I should have just let them call the police and deal with it in court, but I paid 140.00 to walk out of the salon with orange hair. Michelle (owner) called and before I said anything I wanted to hear what they told her, of course it didn't match up and it wasn't just because I was there and witnessed it, but I recorder the session and definitely different than what was told to Michelle. Michelle said this isn't about money, but yet refused to refund my money but offered services in exchange. Would you really want a service done there not knowing if they will change the price on you unexpectedly? I did dispute the charge and will have to wait 30 days to find out. If you are a client or thinking of going there RECORD your consultation/service. NYS is a one-party consent state, you do not have to tell anyone you are recording them. Reliable salon. I've had mani pedi from 3 different people. 2 were good. 1 was great. Haircut was ok.

I love Victoria for my haircuts and perms, and Caylee for my pedicures and manicures. They are both awesome!!!

I went in for a cut and color correction, I was booked to see Missy. I was honest with her went I went in, I'm a natural very light blonde that put the wrong shade of dye from Sally Beauty on my hair and it turned out too dark, I wanted to lighten it back up. I showed her a picture of what I wanted. I'm a realistic person, I told her I understood if I couldn't be done in one session! This is where my problems began. She looked at the picture I showed her for literally 3 seconds, never referred to it again. She also didn't ask what kind of dye I had put on my hair, Demi-permanent? Permanent? That may have been nice to know! So she said that she could just do heavy highlights on the base color (which I already said was too dark) and that would accomplish what I showed her in the picture. This should have been a red flag but she's the stylist so I said go for it! I ended with a zebra striped mess. She cut it after the color, without referring to the picture again. She did not asked what I wanted, she just chopped all my hair off and gave me a million short layers, she also cut a side-swept "bang" I didn't ask for, and cut it super deep into my hair at a 90 degree angle, leaving me with essentially a mullet! Long story short: perhaps if my stylist had done a better consultation, the results may have been better? But I doubt it. There was a lack of skill and knowledge of new hair techniques that I'm sure reflects in all of their work. I've heard a lot of bad things about this place, I should have listened. After sobbing in their parking lot when I left, I called and said I wasn't satisfied. They charged me $170 for the worst cut and color of my life. I was told the owner would call me. She did return my call, at 8:15pm that night, and she said she saw my hair in passing when I was leaving the salon and she thought it was pretty... ok, I'm not calling for your opinion, I'm calling to tell you I've been sobbing over this irreversible $170 cut and color for hours. She said "unfortunately, we do not offer refunds, you can come back and we can fix it if you like". Like I'd ever come back there?! I took it as a loss... went to another salon (Allora in Victor, I saw Brittany) and she fixed it at a discounted rate because she was so sympathetic to the situation. She said she's fixed other mistakes from Michelle's before!! She also said that had the stylist asked, she would have known that I put a Demi-permanent color on, so she could've lightened it with a quick bleach wash! Brittany did her best to fix the mullet Missy gave me, too. I'm very appreciative to Brittany at Allora for fixing my hair. Avoid this place unless you want to spend $170 for a zebra mullet and get no refund. read more

I recently visited Michelle's Salon & Spa at Five Seasons. I had been a loyal client there for over four years and have spent thousands of dollars on their services. I went in on October 7, 2021 for a cut and color service and left utterly disappointed. I have been out of work for several month due to the early arrival of my twin boys, and I was hoping to try a new hair style and dramatic color to boost my confidence as I reentered the work force. I was apprehensive about it, because it is not something I would normally attempt, but my stylist assured me she could perform the work and that it would be everything I hoped for. I even asked her if she thought she could achieve the look I wanted in one shot or if it would take multiple sessions. As well as inquired to see if she was confident doing this drastic look and if not we could do my normal look because it was "safe". I was consistently reassured that I would walk out of the salon with what was pictured. The color I had requested was a dark brown to light pink/purple ombre look. And the cut I requested was to get rid of my dead ends but not go too short. What I walked out of the salon with were chunky, copper-colored streaks through the bottom half of my hair, and an extremely jagged, uneven, sloping cut.... I was at a total loss for words and shocked when they asked for payment at the end of my appointment. I ended up paying for the service and returned home in tears. The next morning, I decided to call the salon and explain that I was unhappy and to discuss a possible refund. I first spoke with my stylist who offered to fix my hair at no cost. While I appreciate that gesture, I am no longer comfortable with her or the salon and only wanted my money back. I offered to allow her to keep her tip, as I know that is how she earns most of her income. She assured me she would follow up with the owner and further discussion was promised. After speaking with the owner, I soon realized they had absolutely no intention of returning my money for the horrible service I received. It was once again offered to me to have my hair fixed at no cost - which I once again respectfully denied. For the next several days I was left in limbo. This caused me to take my business elsewhere. I don't normally write reviews on local businesses but the inflexibility of Michelle's Salon & Spa at Five Seasons has left me completely appalled. I believe businesses should stand behind their products/services and strive to make their valued clients happy each visit, and excited to return. I am currently still in deliberations with the owner of Michelle's with respect to my refund, with no end in sight...... read more

Had very good service until I didn't. I requested a cut and small French braid on the front of my head. When I went to check out, I was charged for a full updo-same price as the bridal updos. Close to $200! I was dumbfounded. When I called to get clarification, I was told someone would call me back. I never received that call-after three attempts to reach someone. When I finally posted a negative review on Facebook, I received a response. I was told that someone had called me and offered me a $15 ( might not be exact but around that price) discount on my next service. I told them publicly on FB-that no one ever called me back (which is the truth). I offered to provide my phone records as proof-which is a joke, but if they wanted proof, I was willing to provide. I would highly recommend asking for the full price of your service UP FRONT. The customer service is appalling though. So even getting the price up front might not be worth it. ***EDITED: now Michelle says I have never been there basically-see response below. When I put a review through FB, funny how she said her staff called me back. Which is it? She can't even see my last name on here. Hmmm... For these reasons, I would never go there again. I had an amazing experience receiving a Better Than Botox facial with Bella. The spa was clean and soothing, and I loved the outcome of my facial. She asked me if I needed any products as opposed to telling me I do and when I said I needed a moisturizer, she recommended one that was reasonably priced and effective. I booked another facial immediately after finishing this one. 10/10 recommend! read more

Never actually had my service because they cancelled but failed to call before we showed up. So boyfriend booked a pedicure for my birthday. He puts me in the car and drives me over here as a surprise. We walk in and girl at front desk says oh I'm so sorry you didn't get our voicemail? Apparently the nail tech called in sick but they were trying to find another girl to come in. Boyfriend got the confirmation text but never a cancellation voicemail. I get it, you literally can't control an employee calling in with the stomach flu. But you can make sure your NEW customers know their appointment is cancelled. It's okay because also boyfriend was about to shell out $65 so I could get my feet rubbed + nails painted!!!!! Glad we didn't and went to the mall for a $30 gel mani. So there's always a full parking lot when I drive by and I'm enticed why. Maybe I will try out a service when I'm done being salty because it is close to home. read more

I had a very great experience with Caylee last week! I hadn't been to a salon in over 4 years due to a previous bad experience. Caylee made me feel super comfortable and executed exactly what I wanted done. I'll definitely be back to see her. I've also gotten multiple massages here and they have all been great!! read more

I have been going to Michelle's for almost 20 years and have never been disappointed. Liesje has been my hairdresser that whole time. Michelle is wonderful and the staff is very friendly and welcoming. Plus, the "Lincoln Log Building" on Route 332 is just beautiful. Reasonably priced, knowledgeable massage therapist. The decor is interesting. I came here for an 80 min massage. I tried to engage with my therapist but she didn't seem like a people person, which is fine for a massage therapist since they typically don't talk during a service. I think they had a locker room but someone was in it so I never got to use it. A little disappointed because I like to shower after. I'm unsure of how that works on a busy Saturday and multiple clients. I was not escorted to the desk after, which I find unprofessional. How do you get any final retail sales or pre-book? read more

Amateur hour! 3 strikes and Michelle's is out! Never again. First time was a reflexology session that was decent but I was told it was a certified reflexologist and it was not (obvious 5 minutes into our session). Second time was a cut and color that were passable but nothing like I expected after reading the reviews or what I'm used to. Third time was a pedicure that was so bad I was completely embarrassed for the technician that gave it to me! I paid for the highest pedicure package. Not only did she not know what was supposed to be included in my package but she was so slow and fumbling I would have sworn I was her first customer ever. Pretty salon with all the bells and whistles and friendly employees but no real talent to justify what they charge. read more

When I made my appointment, it was for a blowout with ironwork/braids for $35. When I checked out, I was told my hairdo would cost $60 because it was a formal updo. There was never a point when they were doing my style that I was told it would double in cost! I would not have had my hair done that way had I know how over the top expensive it would be. Not a very friendly place to go. It doesn't matter what you want they will yell at you and tell you what you should do instead. Also not in a very nice way, but with attitude. I would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

The staff is very sweet. They were rated the best salon in Rochester. I had an unfortunate experience here once. It would have been kept private if Michelle had readily admitted an error or apologized. She rushed my process, then washed me, realized it was orange, put more product back on it and in the next wash, my hair was breaking off in the sink. It was still orange and now fried. I just cried all the way home and my black car seat was covered with broken hair strands as I ran my fingers through it. The only option in my complimentary "fix" appointment was to cut over a foot of my hair off. She did give me product to try to repair the damage of the hair I had left. It was a sad day. But mistakes can be made every so often in any salon. It's how it's handled that is important. I hope going forward, it won't take the customer demanding compensation for Michelle to offer excellent service, which she eventually did. Otherwise for several years, my experiences here were positive. read more
