First time trying Detroit style pizza! We didn't really know what to expect but my husband found this place. Parking is extremely limited they maybe have 5 spots available excluding pickup but there is parking of street parking around so don't worry. Seating is also extremely limited, we ended up sitting outside on one of their outside benches but the weather wasn't too bad. They also serve you plates and water if you sit outside. It took about 20-30min wait for our pizza. We got the packard pepperoni to share. It sure does pack a punch of heat/spice with the chilies. The honey balance it out well though so don't be too scared. The bread/dough was very fluffy and the cheese crust was crunchy and delicious! We were traveling from Ohio and decided we wanted some Detroit style pizza. We read and watched reviews from a bunch of places and decided to see what the excitement was about Michigan & Trumbull. We researched the menu and decided to order ahead so that we could maximize our travel time. We arrived, and there was a small parking lot which was great since we had my elderly mother with us. I think there may have been additional parking across the street. We noticed there were picnic tables outside where people were eating pizza and upon walking in to pick up our pizza, we saw some limited indoor seating. We went to sit in a booth and were abruptly told that seating is not for "carry out customers," but we were welcome to sit outside. Ok? Their website said nothing about there being any seating, and after traveling four hours, we would have enjoyed some drinks and maybe some side dishes in addition to our pizza if the employees weren't so rude. They didn't even ask if we'd like to order something additional. So, we went outside to eat. The pizza was good, but honestly, nothing special. We ALWAYS order a cheese pizza so we can truly compare it to other pizzas. We ordered extra mozzarella on our cheese, and I'm unsure of how much cheese they normally put on a cheese pizza, but the extra cheese was no more than the other pizzas we ordered. We also ordered a pepperoni which had to the good little pepperonis that curl up. Yum! In addition we ordered a specialty pizza called "The Long Drive Home." It had vodka sauce, sausage and banana peppers. This was a crowd favorite. The sausage has incredible flavor and combines really well with the peppers and vodka sauce. I personally love vodka sauce. This one wasn't creamy like you find on pasta, but was good. Finally we did a white pizza with all cheese, ricotta and black pepper. It was also good. The garlic aioli could have a little more flavor. Not sure if there wasn't enough to taste it or if it just needs more seasoning. So, overall, the pizza is nothing special and I would recommend going for the special toppings before worrying about the extra cheese. First stop in Detroit: Detroit style pizza of course. It was really crowded on a Saturday afternoon, so we chose to order at the counter and sit outside. They have a four picnic tables. We sat at one where another group was sitting at the other end. The service was great and they constantly came outside to check on us and refill our waters and take our old plates away. We ordered charred broccoli (forgot to get a photo, but it was good), and the packard pepperoni pizza, which had pepperoni, jalepenos, and house-made hot honey. It was so delicious! 10-15 minute wait. It's a small dining area out front and a few counter seats. 5 tables, 6 window counter seats and 6 front counter seats. May be an ideal carry out spot. Took down my name and number for a seat. A little over 10 minute wait. Ordered a La Croix Pure, arugula salad, no croutons, Farnsworth Funghi, added garlic, chicken, yellow pepper, bell pepper, red onion, teader fries, roasted carrots. Ordered a lemon vinaigrette to go, 10 ounce for $7.42. Total bill is $58.65. CC portable reader to cash out at the table. Pizza comes in one size, the size of the paper menu. No Faygo Red Pop, that's still my favorite flavor. The arugula Parmesan is the same as what's on the table. The pepperoni looks good, curling up. The arugula salad is simple, lemon vinaigrette dressing is nicely citrusy, fresh and good. The arugula is nice and green and maybe baby arugula. The teader fries are nicely seasoned and good on their own, good still with the cilantro ranch dipped. They have those dreaded paper straws, it of course bent and fractured from the saturation in the can. Had to get a second straw to finish the can. The carrots are okay, not my favorite, just seems plain. Heirloom carrots, yellow and purple carrots. The bell pepper here aren't red, they are clearly green pepper and are roasted, not fresh. Ok. The funghi with the add-ons was just okay for me, not the hype I was expecting. They do use all fresh ingredients. Not a lot of chicken pieces as an add-on. Why 5 stars? Because this is perfect Detroit-style pizza. --- --- --- I did a painstaking amount of research on which Detroit-style pizza place I should go to for my weekend visit to the area. I eventually settled on Michigan & Trumbull and felt really good about that decision. After visiting, I think I did some real good choosing. I started off with the Teader Fries, which I assumed my friend would also take part in. When I offered them to him, he said, "no thanks, fries are too fattening." A pretty funny thing to say as you are about to embark on a Detroit-style pizza, but who am I to question his belief system? Meanwhile, I HOUSED those fries because they were so insanely addicting. Maybe my friend was right, as this is not a small portion, yet I ate every crumb. As for the pizza, I went with the BBQ chicken, while he got a pepperoni + extra cheese concoction. Both were excellent and highlighted by the crust that seemed to be magically crispy, just somehow still soft at the same time. I finished off with an ice cream sandwich, which was the perfect way to end this awesome meal. Coming here after a Lions game - the best decision we ever made was leaving that game when our Cleveland Browns were getting killed in the 4th quarter. We beat the rush, yet these pizzas don't pop out quick (quality takes time). By the time we were done, there were many people hovering over our spots at the bar, anxious for an opportunity to snag a seat. Delicious Detroit style pizza! My mom and I shared a pizza and it was plenty for both of us. The flavor was so good - I love the buttery, crispy crust and the hot honey topping tasted so good with the pepperoni. Sauce, cheese and meat ratio was perfect and their sauce had just a hint of sweetness to it which balances the acidic tomato base. I did find the location kind of hard to find because I am from out of state. There is a lot of construction going on in the area and the sign was kind of hard to see for that reason. The parking lot is also tiny for dine in! But we did not have to wait for a table and our pizza came out pretty soon after the order was placed. Located off Trumbull at Holden, free parking is on site, or across the street. We dined inside on this July afternoon. Seating was limited. The dining area was cavernous and loud. Wait times were up to 35 min., but the non-alcohol bar wait was only ten. We chose the latter, gave our mobile number, and were ushered out of the entrance way and into another quieter, cooler, unpopulated hallway in the building to await an all clear, come on in text. That was nice. At the bar, and our server carefully explained the pizza process (~ 25-30 min. wait) and vegetable dishes (10 min wait). We ordered our meal cho, and then a couple N.A. beverages. Beverages seem to all come in bottles and cans. Of the three I tried with my companion, none were standouts in goodness. Water was served in a carafe along with a glass for each of us though. As folks got seated at the bar there was a buzz of excitement about the newness of the place, the menu and the process. After waiting and waiting, while watching one pizza after another go out, one by the each, to others, the excitement died and folks quieted, and just waited and waited for their food. I ordered Charred Briccoli, and honestly, it was the BEST EVER. I shared it with my companion, but by the time it arrived, I was hungry enough to devour it all by myself. We shared the Cowabunga Supreme Pizza (with Fennel Italian sausage, pepperoni, olives and mushroom with spicy red sauce). The corner pieces were crusty delicious, but the inner piece dough I tried was undercooked. Not great. All in all, I applaud the new effort. The people we spoke to who served and ran around were positive and really industrious. Hope management will obtain a beer / wine license one day to make the bar wait a little easier for patrons sitting there. The sauce was amazing, I've never had white sauce before but it was good. I loved the funghi pizza. The arugula, mushroom and onion pizza was an excellent. Take the risk and try it! This was my first time trying this place for their pizzas that I had heard are amazing but it didn't feel that to me. Although I may come back again to try a different pizza to judge that portion of this establishment better since it didn't feel any different to me from other chain restaurants I've tried so not sure what's the hype about. Seating is limited, service is bad. They open at 12pm on a Sunday and I had called at 12.05 to check if they have a waiting , they first refused to put us on wait list on the phone which is ok, next they mention (at 12.05pm) they already had a waiting of 45 min. While we did place the order on the phone to pick up in 20-25 min, when we arrived we did find a couple seats empty and for some reason they were discouraging us to get a seat when we had mentioned multiple times that we would like to dine in and only take togo if there is a long waiting. There were people waiting outside on the picnic style tables they have which they call "outdoor seating". They were not waiting to be seated as well and just waiting for their pizza to go when we asked. While taking the pizza we asked if we can get some water they refused they don't have water for to go! I already had placed a cola for togo so it was hard to imagine that they have colas but no water?!?!? Service is exceptionally bad for our experience and this will highly discourage us to even try this place again anytime soon read more

Long anticipated in-person review. Showed up at opening and was promptly seated. We took a few minutes to peruse the menu and ordered about 12:10. I get that pizzas take some time but we waited roughly 35 mins for 2 pizzas. Other than that, service was good and was friendly. Not a lot of group seating, so plan accordingly. I ordered the meat lovers pizza and it was pretty fantastic. The outer edge crust was the best I've had. Plenty of toppings on the pizza, so the $17 or so was very much justified. One piece was missing some cheese but eh; that's fine. Perfectly cooked and the crunch was apparent which is always a concern for a loaded pizza. The ranch was killer. On par with Jet's; IYKYK.
