This store rescued us by having items for Memorial Day that other places were out of, such as…read morechampagne, craft beer, snacks, etc. When my usual go-to spots didn't come through, I started to look around, and found Riggs based on an internet search. Riggs has a varied and large inventory and staff is customer focused. It's clean, spacious and brightly lit. The owners are the Yoo Family, headed up by a pleasant husband & wife team. They're clearly dedicated to the neighborhood. Mr. Yoo explained that what I see at present is the result of rebuilding/recommitting to this location after a devastating fire burned their first store to the ground. He told me the process of recovery has been arduous, but that the family went in all the way. It's a modern-day phoenix bird rising from the ashes of its predecessor--gotta salute it. The structure is set back a bit from the road, so, just remember that it's directly across the street from Walmart and Five Guys.

I was allowed to shop in peace (instead of being followed and watched) and didn't have to yell through plexiglass to get what I needed. Don't get me wrong, the plexiglass is still there and all the good stuff I drink is still behind it (one of the reasons I don't shop for liquor in DC... if you don't trust me to touch my own booze and not steal, you don't need my money), but they cut out enough space for customers to perform a transaction without feeling like a leper or an untouchable or something. This store also sells hand sanitizer from the Cotton and Reed distillery for about $13 (I think it's a 12 oz bottle). If you're having a hard time tracking some down, you can find some right here! Plus, it saves you a trip to Union Market. I normally go to MD to by my alcohol because I'm always treated with respect compared to many of the stores here in DC. That said, I'm very impressed with the service and will be making it a point to patronize this establishment more often.

Bobbi and Doaa are great people!! They are so helpful with trying to find something. Bobbi is so sweet, he even gives out tastings to help with your selection. He gives back to his community and is so personable, why wouldn't people come back to support. Highly recommend you stop by and check out what they have to offer!
