We decided to call a bigger company and that was Michigan plumbing. This eager young gentleman named Maxwell showed up at my door. After a few minutes of explaining my issues and concerns, he was so kind, empathetic, confident,compassionate, listened to every word and for me to finish talking. And got right to work. And he did unclog my drain. He was through, cleaned up after himself made sure there was ZERO scrapes or damages done while working. I am beyond impressed with amazing human. I scheduled service to fix a leaky pipe, and they didn't show up. They called me late in the day to let me know due to scheduling issues, they couldn't come out after all. We had a great experience with Michigan Plumbing! On a Saturday afternoon, we found ourselves in a predicament with one of our toilets overflowing every time we used water elsewhere in the house. We had attempted to contact another local company, but their answering service didn't make us feel very confident (and indeed we never heard back from them). With four kids in the house and me recovering from a broken leg, we needed to be able to use water ASAP! To our relief, Chadwick arrived in just a couple hours and quickly identified a deep-seated clog in the pipes. He also advised us to replace the troublesome toilet, as it was leaking (which explained the constant running issues despite us having replaced the check valve three times). Chadwick was friendly and professional, and returned on Tuesday to install the new toilet. It looks great - and cost less than I expected! We will definitely recommend Michigan Plumbing and use their services again in the future. read more

It took over 3 visits to repair my toilet and after they broke a pipe I was charged over $2800. Little to no clean up was done. Had to have another plumber come back 1 month later to fix a seal that Michigan Plumbing previously replaced. Never again. read more

A Michigan Plumbing technician come to our home to give us an estimate for a reverse-osmosis system to improve the taste of our water. He gave us two options - buy a unit at a local building supply company and have MP install it. Or, have MP provide the unit and installation. The estimate was just over $1,000 - around $500 for the labor and $500 for the unit, if we wanted them to provide it. He promised to email us the estimate later that day. He recommended a certain model from a local company called Ferguson and went out of his way to tell us that even though the ad on the Ferguson website advertised the unit for just over $300, he was told when he phoned Ferguson that the ad was a mistake and the unit was actually just over $500. Just for the heck of it, I phoned Ferguson and was assured that the unit was, indeed, just over $300 and that it could be delivered to our home free within two days. Meanwhile, the written estimate from MP came the next day; it was about $500 more than the original. I asked, in writing, for an explanation of both the 33-percent addition to the estimate and the funny business on the price of the unit. No explanation. No reply. - John, Mason read more

Had them out to replace some faucets and lines and add some shutoff valves...would never recommend them...faucets are leaking they used the old brass ferrules on new lines some of those leaked they had to come back out and repair...they cracked a sink..there were several no shows and no call when the had an appointment with us...highly overpriced...we felt totally ripped off on the labor...they would not let us speak with owner to resolve errors always some clown at the office making excuses...avoid this company read more

Our master bathroom toilet went on the blink. My husband & I went into a panic as to which company to call for quick & professional service. A company we used to call had deteriorated in their service, & when we called them today all we got was a recording & no return call. So, we called Michigan Plumbing instead. They sent out A.J. The housing for our whole-house water filter broke and the water had to be turned off immediately which also meant no heat since we have hot water heat. Michigan Plumbing got here in under and hour (!), explained the 2-step repair process for our problem, did step 1 and instantly restored water and thereby heat. Hired them to fix a leak under the bathroom vanity. They came out and replaced the faucet, both water supply lines and both shut off valves. Two days later I noticed the drain pipe from the sink was leaking. They came back out and resealed it. A week later, I notice it's still leaking. They came back out for a third time and said they would try to tighten it again, if that didn't stop the leak it would cost another $200 to fix. This, after originally paying them $600. Outrageous! Guess if it continues to leak, I will have my 84 year old neighbor come fix it. read more

Flat rate company! Will not tell you what a job really costs. They did replace some bad drain lines at my house and I am greatful as no one else wanted to do the work. They did however charge a very high amount (Over 15K). For what was needed I did authorize only one bathroom to be done. This was about 80% of the job that needed to be done. I thought I would have more time but when I called for an estimate for the second bathroom they quoted me nearly the same amount for the 20% that had not yet been completed. I'll start with the good. We called and a plumber showed up within a half hour. This was non-emergent; however we did want it fixed before the weekend. A leaky ball valve on the supply line to the water heater. We asked for a quote on the phone and we were told they don't do quotes. He said that they do not charge emergency fees anyway. They also would not tell me how much the actual valve cost. The plumber replaced the valve in less than an hour. The charge was $422.00. I looked up the part on line and it was about $25.00. So basically, with travel time, they charge about $300.00 an hour. Find someone else people!!! read more

I called the company to have a leaking shower fixed. The leak was intermittent with the water coming out at odd times, presumably when the water pressure rises above a certain level. The technician claimed that he replaced a cartridge in the shower valve. The leak continues. Michigan Plumbing sent two technicians subsequently, but there is no improvement and the leak continues. I suspect the ceramic cartridge was cracked and the first technician never replaced it. I am frustrated because the leak continues. read more

My main line was clogged. Roto -Rooter sent a plumber out. The guy only looked in the bathroom then quoted me $350-780 depending on if he "breaks through" it'd be on the high end of the quote. I called Michigan Plumbing-they inspected inside AND outside before quoting me anything. Michigan Plumbing unclogged my clean out (outside) for $208 with no issues and was done within 30 minutes. The guy assured me of a 90 day warranty and to call immediately if I had any issues. He understand that I didn't have $700 to fix it and he actually gave me a break. I live in an apartment and the complex hired then. They were to replace my tub and shower. They didn't have the right tub, didn't measure when they gave estimated. Then when they did I now have holes in the wall and they didn't put up plastic to prevent dust from being all over the place plus stained my carpet. read more

We have an old house and have had drain problems for year. Troy from Mich Plumb came out, wore a mask (important as we are both old) and was very friendly. Mostly talked to my husband. Kept us advised as he went along. This is going to need that, etc. My husband who has dealt with our drains until recently said he was honest. We had a flooded basement because our sump pump once again died--only two years after getting a new one installed by another company. The other company said they couldn't make it out until the next day and would charge us overtime hours because it would be a Saturday. Michigan Plumbing said they would send someone out right away. They installed a higher quality sump pump that has a five year warranty, they explained why we were having issues and what we could do about it. They also on the same visit, looked at some issues we were having with our toilet, suggested a fix and were able to do it right away. Reading the other reviews, I have to agree that this is a company I would never, never do business with. Called them to clean out a sink drain in my bathroom. They would not tell me over the phone how much it might cost. I only wanted an estimate but they said they would have to come out an look at it. Guy got here walked into the bathroom turned on the water and said "Yep, your drain is clogged." Reall???? Gosh I'm glad I had a certified plumber come out to tell me that because I never could have figured out why all that water in my sink wouldn't go down. He told me it would cost $200. This is the most I've ever heard of to run a snake 10 feet down a drain. The only reason they wouldn't give me a quote over the phone is that they knew I would have said "forget it!" They figure that once they're in your house and have waited for them that you'll just say, "Well that's pretty steep but now that you're here, go ahead and do it" I told him to forget it. Michigan Plumbing charged my neighbors, two young PhD students from China with limited English, roughly $1,200 to install a shower faucet and remove the old one. They worked four hours at $287/hr.! One of the students came next door to find me to talk to the plumber and I tried talking him down, but no go. It's been about 1 1/2 years now since we unfortunately hired MI plumbing to replace our main sewer line. Not long after we moved into our home, the drains in the basement backed up, and we had them come out and snake them. They ran a camera through and confirmed with my husband that the old clay pipe was infiltrated by roots. Problem was temporarily fixed, but it wasn't too long before we had to do it again, and then again. Tired of the hassle and just wanting the problem to be taken care of once and for all, we had MI plumbing give us an estimate to replace the line. It was over $3000.00, but was to replace the line out to the main. Like I said, we just wanted it done! Well, the day they came out to our house, the "lead" for their team was not a very friendly guy, not awful, but just not very friendly. He was smoking in my front yard the whole time and left his cigarette butts on the lawn, which would have been forgivable if that was the worst of it. After tearing up my entire yard, ripping out my front walkway, and basically getting to the end of the job, he tells me that they can only get out to about three feet from the main, as there were "fiber optic lines just before it, and it would raise the cost of the job up to around $10,000 to work around them." So, "you'll probably have to stay on an annual schedule of getting the line snaked to keep the line from backing up again!!!!" Are you kidding me????? That's exactly what we were paying to avoid, and they had the front of the house surveyed for lines and flagged prior to starting, so how did they not know about these lines before they locked us in with a backhoe and trashed yard???!! They left our yard a dsaster for months to boot. Do not trust Michigan Plumbing. If you do end up hiring them, don't let them get away with charging you for work that is less than what you hired them for. Get it in writing and hold them to it!!! read more

Had pipes that were clogged and Michigan Plumbing came out to snake a camera and do a Jet flush to see if that would free the clog, which it did not. That alone was almost $450. We were told that roots were blocking the pipes, and to waterjet the roots from the exterior cleanout would be another $800 dollars. We decided to decline any further service because the price seemed very steep. After shopping around, we found four other companies considerably cheaper than Michigan Plumbing, and selected one that was available within a few hours. Long story short, the guy showed up, looked at the exterior cleanout, and realized the problem was with pipes inside the house, and everything outside was fine. Another 30 minutes later, he took care of a root problem with a drill bit for $180, told us not to waste money on waterjetting the exterior pipes, and everything was fixed for less than what we were quoted with this company over the phone. We would have basically spent $1250 and still had clogged drains if we selected Michigan Plumbing. I asked around, and MI Plumbing is known for ridiculously high rates with spotty service. Either their plumber was trying to scam us or had no idea what he was doing, but we will absolutely avoid Michigan Plumbing at all costs. read more

Steer clear of this company. We had low water pressure and the guy who came out immediately said we needed a new pressure tank. He replaced it, we still had low pressure, and he left, saying the pressure would return. Of course it didn't so we called someone else out who fixed the problem in less than an hour for $95. When I called MI Plumbing to tell them about this they service manager was rude and argumentative but finally gave me a partial refund. I should have taken heed of the comments that were written about this company and never called them. What a complete rip off! They wanted to charge me between $600 - $1000 to repair my propane water heater. Because so many people I know told me to get another opinion (thank god I listened to them), I was able to get my entire repair done for $375. MI Plumbing was correct that one of the parts needed to be replaced, but their $600 price tag was double what I was actually charged for the part. Shame on you MI Plumbing...from what I am reading and from what I am hearing from friends who have had to deal with you, price gouging and dishonesty are normal business practices for you. When we had them put in a water heater last year the installer creased it and the office would not return calls. Yesterday waited all day for a plumber from them and then they call us 12 hours later. When we tried to reschedule for the next morning because it was too late for us was told no. Take the plumber now or forget it was their response.
