So when she was calling to confirm my appointment I told her I had new insurance that I'd changed jobs since being there last. She was still condescending & RUDE so I told her to go ahead & cancel my appointment! I will be going elsewhere. I hope that she will be taught some customer service skills if I spoke to customer/patients the way she did Id be reprimanded. Dr. Downey and his entire team and in particular his opticians have literally bent over backwards to help me to have the best vision possible. We're talking about making and taking back multiple different pairs until we crafted a solution that allowed me to have nearly perfect vision. It's often challenging to find really good medical care in small towns. Dr. Downey and his people are a local treasure.

Her staff is to be commended as they truly represent the doctors well. Hannah, who assisted with my most recent visit, listened and thought about her responses before she gave them. She explained the different exams that were going to occur and she gave me immediate results, which I appreciated. It turns out I can still see. Dr. Brewer arrived in the room with a burst of energy. She asked about how I was doing, cared about how I was doing, and then we began their exam. Like Hannah, Dr. Brewer told me what was happening. The whole time was patient as I asked silly questions and I came away with the opinion that she really did care. So, I guess you could go to the mall. But I don't think you'd get the quality care you get here.

I do remember the last full evaluation was done at the UC Berkeley Optometry clinic and that it was a long appointment. I've carried vision insurance for years, of which Gayle has used. But for some reason I didn't place this kind of health-related care at the same level as dental or medical. A high school friend, who is also a retired optometrist, convinced me to go, if only to confirm that I didn't have any glaucoma, macular degeneration, or cataract issues. Gayle has used Valley Care and has been very happy with Dr. Brewer. So to push me along, she made that appointment for me. The only "bad" news from the appointment was that my dependence on reading glasses wasn't really enough and that I needed progressives. The good news is that my vision didn't need that much adjustment and my eye health was A-OK. What a relief! The professionals at Valley Eyecare know their business well, and I felt that I was in good hands. That included Dr. Brewer's friendly and efficient manner, and the staff that supported her work. Later on, Gayle and I stopped by to pick up the glasses we picked out, that were largely covered by insurance. The fittings went well, and all I have to do know is get used to the progressives. Maybe I'll add some prescription computer glasses later, to compliment my screen time.

We had never been seen here before, and the person who answered the phone was super helpful and was able to squeeze my husband in at 2:45. We arrived at 2:35 and were seen less than 10 minutes later. We were in and out in under 30 minutes! I was not only very impressed with the front desk staff who helped, but the doctor herself was amazing! She was so friendly, and seemed like she really liked what she does, just a genuinely good doctor. My husband, who is not a doctor person, was actually very very happy with the visit, even thought she had to literally grind a rust ring off of his eyeball, so much that he scheduled an actual eye exam for later in June. I'm sure we'll be back for more metal removal at some point, but it's nice to know there is somewhere that we can go where we're going to get all around good care!

Took 4/5 min to get there? So, once he picks up his glasses, we will not be returning. It's unfortunate since I like keeping my business close to home.

He did not listen to my concerns & it ended up costing me $400. I told him, in detail, that I am dyslexic and have scotopic sensitivity syndrome. I voiced my concerns about getting progressive glasses due to having so many processing issues that affect the pathway from my brain to mu eyes. Both Dr Camp as well as the woman who fitted me for glasses ignored all my concerns, they both aggressively upsold me on & promised that progressives are "so much different now, you won't have any issues" so I stupidly trusted my medical professional and in the end I WASTED FOUR HUNDRED DOLLARS BECAUSE NOBODY LISTENED TO ME. I am so angry. Nobody has $400 to waste in this economy. They also upsold me on adult glasses (I have a small head so I have always been great with kid glasses) so now these over priced glasses fall off my head every time I look down. When I expressed my anger the woman who does the fitting just smirked at me & shrugged. This office does NOT care about their customers.
