This place is amazing!! I called today (Minden office 5/27), at 2:15 pm for an emergency foreign object removal of a piece if metal in my husbands eye. We had never been seen here before, and the person who answered the phone was super helpful and was able to squeeze my husband in at 2:45. We arrived at 2:35 and were seen less than 10 minutes later. We were in and out in under 30 minutes! I was not only very impressed with the front desk staff who helped, but the doctor herself was amazing! She was so friendly, and seemed like she really liked what she does, just a genuinely good doctor. My husband, who is not a doctor person, was actually very very happy with the visit, even thought she had to literally grind a rust ring off of his eyeball, so much that he scheduled an actual eye exam for later in June. I'm sure we'll be back for more metal removal at some point, but it's nice to know there is somewhere that we can go where we're going to get all around good care! read more

Waitlist is long; it took 3.5 weeks for the appointment, the frame selection is limited, plus the same frames at Costco are 1/3 the price ( I know I got sick of waiting and went to Costco for my glasses and contacts, and there they were) Husband was called and told his glasses where in at 215 on a Friday and ready for pick up... assuming since we'd just got the call, and were told they were ready he headed down, the doors were locked, we were 1.5 miles from the office? Took 4/5 min to get there? So, once he picks up his glasses, we will not be returning. It's unfortunate since I like keeping my business close to home. read more

I have to say I am really surprised by some of the negative reviews. Granted, they are from a few years ago. I met with Dr. Johnanna Lee and found her to be extremely knowledgeable and very good about describing exactly what was going to happen during each test and procedure. I found the staff very accommodating and friendly. They let me know of any charges that were not covered by my healthcare upfront, so there were no surprises. The optometry staff also assisted me with finding new frames, which is always a challenge for me. Dr. Lee went ahead and discussed additional testing since I have a family history of glaucoma and I am showing signs that might lead into that direction. I appreciated her proactive stance and felt I was in very good hands. read more

I appreciate your swift response John K. However, it's a generic half assed response to be frank. Reading your responses, I feel like you did 2 things. Copy and paste your response. No I don't want to call your office manager to discuss my experience. I just stated my experience, my dissatisfaction, and my expected resolution from your businesss. You know what you're doing. I would be way more than happy to call your office manager to find out when I can pick up My case for safety glasses. I would also be happy to never be told my glasses don't come with a case. You're good people you're a great business. I don't want to talk anymore, I just want a case with my glasses. Charge me for the case if you have to. I don't want to purchase a case online only to find out I measured wrong and it's the wrong size and go through the hassle of Searching. You are the experts in this. I would NEVER recommend ANY of the Pritchett eye wear locations. I am NOT able to return the glasses. I had the rudest person I believe I ever met in the in the Minden NV. location,That one is the worst. If you don't mind waiting around, all of the locations only have one eye doctor to help all the needs of everyone that day of business. Which means even if you have an appointment YOU wait!! I ended up leaving and going to the Baker St. The Reno Nevada area. Much much further but I hate rude people. So, now that I have decided to have all dealing in Baker St. I found a pair of glasses. The lens was scratched. I returned the very next day. They accepted the glasses for Return, I wait and wait. I call is the lens ready. No we will tell you when it is done. I NEVER received a call or text. I called them again way down the road, and tell them I do not want the glasses any more, I want all my money Back, I get this for an answer. "Let me speak to my manager, I will call you later. I had a dentist appointment so I left my husbands number. They call him back and tell him it's been over 30 days and the can't return the money. Does that make sence to you? They offer a 30 day money back guarantee but when you don't want them anymore they throw their policy on you. It was only over 30 days because they had them. When I asked why did no one call me to tell me they were done. They said the did, I say I have no missed call here. She changes what she says and says, " we Texted you". I said no you did not I can show proof. Everything is logged in to my phone. NEVER, NEVER, NEVER USE THIS COMPANY. Absolutely one HUGE headache. And it seems to be coming from all the locations. They are a clearly a rudeness, lying land cheating company. I am still trying to get glasses but I DONT want to go through any of the Pritchett eye wear locations. I had my appointment at 4:15pm and the medical assistant and doctor were great. The doctor recommended a anti glare and then I proceeded to pick out my glasses. I paid what was not covered by insurance and they took payment immediately. The next day I was told they didn't offer the protectant but would still be charged a fee. I asked to be refunded the payment and was told that it takes 7 to 8 weeks. That's ridiculous. read more

The customer service at the front desk is rude, ineffective... example being this week I asked if they could email me a copy of my prescription they said no. So, I drove over to get it... they gave me my eyeglass prescription only... so when I got to Costco to buy contacts I realized I waisted my time and gas. The first set of contacts they fit me with didn't fit right which was a huge damper for the vacation I wore them on. The second pair they fit me with still aren't satisfactory so now I am going to pay out of pocket to go to a different eye doctor to get a prescription/contact fit that I will be happy with for the next year. I had been a patient for years until recently. I was dubious after my wife's disaster with them recently. She brought in a pair of glasses for lens change and after 6 weeks they finally admitted they lost her frames. Couldn't agree more about revolving door of doctors. They obviously can't keep a permanent staff and it shows in attitude. It is poor management and greed that's killing this business. All they want is to charge you more for unnecessary exams on equipment not covered by insurance, or as the other reviewer said "sell you expensive frames". Never going back. read more

This is the worst practice we have ever encountered. There is a revolving door of inexperienced doctors and staff. They bill for office visits differently depending on the doctor. So the same visit costs more for a different doctor. When I argued this with staff it was reluctantly resolved. Convince is the reason I started with this office. Then I came to really like Dr. Donahue. Other than that the staff is often rude and bothered and misquoted me prices on their overpriced frames and lenses. I called for a price correction and was told I need to contact their PR firm by email to submit my grievance. So much for the small town feel. I have heard nothing but bad stories if ill fitted glasses and prescriptions, poor service, and bait and switch type tactics leaving their already over priced glasses pricier. Being new to the area, I needed to find an optometrist and some coworkers recommended Pritchett Eye Care in Minden. I saw Dr. Heidi Peterson and she was excellent. Listened closely to my issues and took a lot of time and care to make sure I was getting the right prescription. She introduced me to some better contact lenses as well. Also, she and the rest of the staff I met were just so friendly and helpful. I cannot comment on price since my insurance covered my expenses. read more

I made an appointment with Pritchett because I was having excessive eye pain and seeing floaters. I go in for my appointment, had a very long wait but was seen by friendly staff. I paid extra money out of pocket to have a more in depth eye exam and look at the back of my eye where the pain was. They didn't find anything of concern, so I was pleased. He then did my eye exam so I could get bi-focal glasses. After that, I picked out my frames, they took my measurements, told me it would be just a couple weeks for my bi focal glasses to arrive and then they told me they referred me to a specialist who would call me soon to set up an appointment. Everything went seemingly well. Then it was a month later, I still had no call from a specialist and no call to pick up glasses. So I called them. They told me there was never even an order put In for my glasses or the specialist!!!!!! I was very upset but took it as an honest mistake. The woman on the phone proceeds to tell me they no longer have my measurements so I need to go back in to get remeasured and re-choose my frames and they could not put in the order until I had done so. That made me even more mad. It takes me about a week to make it in to get remeasured, but it went well and they assured it would be right this time. Once again, a few weeks later I still hadn't received a call to get my glasses so I make the dreaded call. They had them! They told me to come in and grab them whenever I want. I arrive a couple days later and waited 40 mins just to pick up glasses and guess what, when she handed me the glasses THEY WERE NOT BI FOCALS. Idiots! So now I have just another pair of regular glasses. I didn't need these! All that time and money wasted. The specialist finally did get In contact with me though and we set up an appointment but here come Pritchett Eyecare now calling me again saying I cannot go see the specialist without further testing. WHY DID YOU NOT DO THE TESTING WHEN I WAS THERE THREE TIMES!!!! Now I have a different insurance and Pritchett is out of network so I can't go in for the testing and therefore can't go to my specialist appointment. Worst company ever. read more

I've been going to this office since Dr. Stone was here. He was absolutely wonderful. He's been long retired and sold his business to Pritchett Eye Care. Things have changed. The first few times I went for my eye exam was fine. The office staff was great. The optician was awesome. Dr. Heidi Peterson was great, too... until I came back saying I couldn't see so well with my new prescription. This was in 2014. She checked me again and said the prescription was right. The glasses were progressive and I told her I needed to pull the glasses away from my eyes to see better. She didn't trouble shoot why I was having this happen, she just said the prescription was correct. That didn't help me. She seemed angry and when she left the room she said, "You have strabismus, too!" That means "crossed eyes." What the hell?! If she saw a medical condition that would explain why I couldn't see with my new glasses, help me understand... don't use a medical terminology to insult me! read more

Dr. Jonathan Mather is one of the best Doctors I've ever gone to. When was the last time you called a doctor with a problem and they called you back within 10 minutes to speak to you directly? That's what he did for me yesterday. Also gave me explicit instructions on what to do, what not to do and when to come see him if necessary. I highly recommend him! read more

If I could leave no stars for the rating I would. First, I want to say this place was recommended by close friends who use this office to get there eye care. Second, before going I looked this office up on yelp and read the reviews. Third, the reviews were right and I should have never gone. This place plays games on the customer and are not very transparent in the way they do business. The Dr will try to sell you a contact fitting even if your prescription hasn't changed and you don't plan on changing contact type. I asked why he would charge me for a contact fitting when nothing is changing and he said that that was the "companies" policy not his and that he could not write for more contacts if he doesn't check for there fit. When asked how much it would cost, he stated that my insurance would pay for it (not true once you prepare to leave). So I got them checked so I would be able to get more contacts. After the Dr is done, they usher you out to see the glasses they have to offer and there is an assistant to help push there glasses on to you. These people are very nice and seem to do a good job in what they do. They will do there very best to get you what you want and then some. After some time being spent with the glasses ladies, they discovered that I would not be able to get my glasses covered by my insurance. They figured out that I would be eligable for coverage in two months. I told them that I would just pay out of pocket for the glasses and contacts and I would come back in a few months and get a second pair of glasses or possibly sunglasses. They were happy with that (they should have been as I would have spent even more money in there office than the average person would normally do). Now here comes the part where they lost my business. When squaring up with my bill (this is the place that you would also talk to them about ordering contacts), they told me my breakdown for the visit. They told me that the contact fitting was only partly covered and I would have to pay the rest. The problem is that the Dr told me it was covered by my insurance. After telling her this, she said "the Dr doesn't know what he's talking about" and proceeded to tell me the difference was $35. I do not like to be told by those working for medical profesionals that the one they work for doesn't know what they are talking about. I told the young lady that this situation about contact fitting charges was brought up on Yelp with dissatisfaction and she told me "yea I know" and she acted like it didn't matter and didn't care if they lost patients. I told the young lady to cancel my order on my glasses and that I would buy from another company. I took my script and chart with me and will not be giving or recommending this office or company to anyone. What bothers me is..... 1. The Dr blames the "company" for the up charge but tells the patient that it will be covered. 2. The office help blames the Dr for giving wrong information while continuing to keep the charge. 3. A small office such as this can not communicate effectively with each other to fix a known problem that effects those they are trying to supposedly help. The first time I went to this place I had a great experience, it was expensive but myself and my son were taken care of by Dr.Peterson. SO I went in today with my son and had "Dr." Benitz who didnt ask any questions about my health or my sons health or do any follow up. He did a very half assed exam on my son and myself and changed our scripts. I came to find out I got refitted for contacts (i just got fitted 7 months ago) and got charged 50 dollars Oh and you get charged that every time you get new contacts. None of which I asked for. The glasses are over priced, the contacts are over priced and you get ripped off. Lenscrafter carries all the same brands and they are cheaper and you get better deals. 12 and under they only charge half price on lens and glasses. Go the extra mile and leave these over priced hacks alone. read more

This was my second time going in and both times we received wonderful service. My husband went in and was very happy with his experience. Today I went in and was very please. It was a very short wait, friendly staff and lovely room. The Doctor was available very quickly and answered all my questions. The staff was helpful and easy going. Don't use them. I am going to a new eye doc. I can't wear their glasses. They give me a headache

AVOID this place at all costs! The optometrist didn't fit me for contacts and seemed unconcerned that I wanted prescription sunglasses. When I went to the front office to get fitted the optician didn't tell me the cost for polycarb lenses, she just added the extra $65 into the total. I did NOT get my prescription before I left the office. I had to drive 90 miles each way because it was the closest place that accepted my insurance. I still ended up paying $143 out of pocket. I asked the optician to mail the glasses to me since I live in another state. After one week she called and told me she mailed them. After not receiving the glasses for 10 days I called to find out what happened. Marylin told me she sent them to some non-existent city in NV. I live in California. I asked her for the tracking number and when I checked with the post office the package had gone from Minden to Reno to Santa Clarita to Las Vegas where it was considered "dead". I emailed the post office and they called me and said they left Las Vegas but didn't know where they went. Marylin called me (on a number that I did not leave for her) and said the package has gone back to Santa Clarita and that I should have it within 48 hours. She claimed she did not know why it went to Las Vegas. Really, Marylin? I know why. You f*ck'd up. Everything she told me was a lie. The package actually went back to Minden. After two weeks Marylin called to tell me she would resend it, this time to my PO box, as though that were the problem. As of today I still do not have the glasses. I was going to just ask for a refund and go someplace else but I am too tired. I just want my glasses and be done with Pritchett eye care all together. I will know better next time.
