I cannot recommend Mickey Cohen Motorsports based on my experience, and I would strongly caution anyone considering leaving a motorcycle here for service or restoration. I dropped off two motorcycles with this shop, an RG500 and an RS250. My RS250 has now been sitting there for approximately 11 months, and despite that extraordinary amount of time, no meaningful work has been completed on the bike. What makes this especially unacceptable is watching other motorcycles continue to come into the shop and apparently get moved ahead of mine. Mickey keeps bringing in additional bikes while mine gets pushed further and further to the back of the line. After 11 months, there is simply no reasonable excuse for continuing to accept additional work while an existing customer's motorcycle sits untouched. If a shop accepts a motorcycle, it should either perform the work within a reasonable period of time or be upfront with the customer that it does not have the capacity to do the job on the front side. Holding someone's motorcycle for nearly a year while continually taking in other work is completely unacceptable. To compound the issue, it appears Pancho has parted ways with the company and he was the only real mechanic that could complete the work These are not ordinary motorcycles. An RG500 and RS250 are valuable, collectible machines, and I entrusted them to this shop expecting professional service, reasonable communication, and some respect for my place in their workload. Instead, my experience has been delay after delay while other bikes continue to move through the shop. Eleven months is more than enough patience. At this point, I have completely lost confidence in Mickey Cohen Motorsports. Based on my personal experience, I would not bring another motorcycle here, and I absolutely do not recommend this shop to anyone who expects their motorcycle to actually be worked on within a reasonable amount of time. If you are considering leaving your motorcycle here, I strongly suggest you think twice. My RS250 has been there for 11 months. That fact alone should tell you everything you need to know about my experience. I sent a text to Mickey telling to to ensure the bike is in the same condition as it was when I dropped it off. I don't normally leave reviews, but I felt like this experience needed to be shared. I brought my bike to Mickey Cohen Motorsports for a tune, quick shifter, auto-blipper, gear indicator installation, and a pipe delete. I was originally quoted around $1,900 for everything together. The final total ended up being $2,500, which I can understand -- high-quality work can cost more, and I don't mind paying for good service. What really disappointed me was the lack of communication. The price increase happened without any notice or approval, and the work was already completed before I was told about it. That's not how a professional shop should handle a paying customer, especially on high-ticket installations. The bigger issue was how things were handled afterward. When I tried to express my surprise about the final cost, I was met with rude and dismissive behavior. Instead of a respectful conversation, the owner started boasting about his business and putting down other shops, even saying "good luck getting a tune somewhere else." It came off as arrogant and unnecessary. I understand he's confident in his work, but professionalism and respect matter just as much as results. A friend of mine contacted the shop earlier in the week. And was quoted $500 for a tune on a Harley. Davidson, I i called the shop and spoke to Mickey and asked him if I could get my bike in to have it tuned. He told me to bring it in or bring it tomorrow, and they'll try to squeeze it in. So I took the day off the next day and brought me by Ken. About 10 o'clock and spoke to an individual. And they asked me what they could help me with, and I told them my conversation on the phone, and they told me to hold on, and they went and talked to someone in about 15 minutes. Later returned and said they could do my bike. So they asked me, which one it was, and I pointed to my bike, and they wrote down some specifications about my bike, and about 1040, my bike was on the tuner. The gentleman did the startup connections ran into some problems with hooking up the cables to the exhaust. Took him about 15 minutes to resolve that, and the tune went fine. Except for being interrupted to open and shut the roll up door people asking him questions. The tune finished around 130 they removed my bike from the tune or and parked it off to the side and disgust things about my bike and then other people's bikes. And then eventually they got around to helping me with the final paperwork, which they never told me anything about what happened. Or what charges or what add-ons? Nothing they just popped me with the bill. The whole process took about 3 hours they put on the bill. They charged me for 4.13 hours. Taxes for some plugs that went into the exhaust and for the license fee. But I think they took advantage of me, not knowing what the process. this is the first time I've ever done a review. I'm a very honest person. Part of me feels like I deserved. What happened because I didn't ask enough questions. My advice, if you go to Mickey Kohen, he's a cool guy. He's very straightforward. He'll tell you what's up without any hesitation. I think that's great. I wish he would give his opinion but also to give you ideas to solve a problem. He's very capable person.So my message here is to ask questions.If you go there don't go blindly ask a lot of questions.And I think the experience would probably be much better than mine well it won't let me up load the bill so Dyno test lic. 375.00 Dyno test set up. 195.00? Mickey runs a clean shop. I needed a tire change so I confirmed that it had arrived today. I called and left a voice mail but Mickey called me back and even though the store is closed Mondays, they still changed my tire today. Everything happened in a half hour, they offered me a beverage while I waited and I was thankful for a bottle of water. There's also a TV you can watch whatever on and a bunch of magazines, and comfy couches. They also inspected the bike and test rode it. Some of the exhaust pipes were rattling so the guys tightened them. As Poncho (the shop boss I think) said - "we want you back for good reasons". They also have a very impressive dynamometer set up with blowers to feed the air intake and keep the motor cool. They use it to get bikes running like they should. I think I will be back for a good reason - to get my bike tuned, as an engineer I appreciate how valuable diagnostic tools that produce quantitative data can be. The cost was significantly less than a tire change I had on another of my bikes at a different place, it's in line with what I pay for my admittedly pricey car tires. So I am definitely satisfied on value. My 117 softail has a small cam and a 2/1 exhaust, he not only got good power/tq. numbers I also ended up with a very flat tq. curve (no dip at all). First and foremost if you have a quad especially one with a carb don't take it to him to get jetted or fixed or even fuel injected. Go to Jbuilt industries great guy who does great work who's polite and honest. So I dropped off my 2007 yfz450 to mickey on a Thursday to get jetted correct and ran on the dyno, and he said he would have it ready for me that same weekend. It took him 4 weeks to get it done for me, after damn near begging him to get it ready for since I had to go to glamis. But he left it running worst than it was before. And when I told him all he said was "it's piece of shit build" and that there's no way to fix my bike. Dude it pushes 60hp and when he gave it back to me it would just bog on me and it would only push 35HP. Not the first time he's done something like this to me. He previously did me dirty to with my fuel injected kfx 450r. Got burned, basically threw away $1,200 to the trash. Ahh while being spoken to rudely and he purposely tries making you feel stupid. Called, spoke with Mickey and just dropped off my 2022 RGST for a tune. I'll update once I pick her up but Mickey was nothing but professional and friendly. So far a fantastic experience. It's the day after and just picked her up. I didn't go over my bike with fine tooth comb but she looked like she did when I dropped her off, other than the evidence that she had been tooled on. They spent 6 weeks trying to figure out why my bike (2015 Yamaha Bolt) was sputtering when i get to a light. I gave him all the information, that it's been sitting for a couple months and exactly what happens. After 6 weeks he charge me $165 because he said he adjusted the idol (GREAT, RIGHT?). Next day it dies on me while I'm on the road (this time while I'm riding, not at a stop). Took it back. He calls me 2 days later staying my bike is ready!! I get there and he charges me an addition $865 because he changed the fuel pump. Didn't give me a heads up that he was doing the repair or how much it would cost. I didn't sign anything the second time to authorize sure and over charge repair. He just did it. I paid over $1000 for a job that would have been done right the first time and for half the price ANYWHERE ELSE. The only reason it paid is because it would have been tied up in litigation for a while and I'd be without the bike. He gave me so BS that the pump alone cost $550. 2015 Harley StreetGlide. Ever since i bought my bike it seems I was chasing a demonic squirrel trying to get her to run like i thought she should. Added exhaust, intakes, multiple tuners, love jugs etc all to either address her feeling sluggish or running hotter than normal. The first time I brought my bike to Mickey, I had just gotten back from a day trip to Las Vegas... It was August 2020, I had just purchased an Akrapovic exhaust system and a Dynojet Power Commander V -- and since I love riding in 113+ degree weather, I had them shipped to Las Vegas. The next day, I rode out to MC Motorsports since they're the best Dyno Tune facility in Orange County. Mickey took me as a walk-in, installed the Dynojet PCV, and tuned my bike within an hour. The second time I brought my bike in, I had just started riding again after recovering from an accident that had me trade a good spleen for a bad knee and a nasty concussion. I worked with Josh to have my brake/clutch levers replaced, oil changed, tail light wiring fixed, and a pretty nasty aftermarket horn cabling web cleaned up. Josh knocked it out quick and to perfection. The third and most recent time I brought my bike in, I had my tires swapped, a HealTech Speedohealer / Brake Light Pro / and Thunderbox installed, my stock throttle replaced with a G2 Throttle Tamer, my stock fork springs replaced with a pair of Öhlins springs, and a re-tune of my bike to sync well with my aftermarket chain, sprockets, and the Speedohealer. I just so happened to bring my bike in during one of their busiest times. Yet they still accepted the bike and took care of everything I asked for. I bought my RZR used with a decent amount of miles on it so I wanted to get it serviced and make sure everything was good before taking it out to the desert. I dropped off my 2018 R6 to have velocity stacks and tune for my full exhaust. I can tell you, Mickey and his guys will take care of your bike. I stopped by while the R6 was on the dyno. Looking through the door it was pretty funny. Mickey is a big guy, he made my R6 look like a Grom... Long story short. I got it back today and it's fast. Before, if I was below 10,000 RPM it was a dog. Today it raps up from 4000 to 13,500 like nothing. I was in 6th gear doing 45 on the freeway on the way home. I was lazy didn't down shift I just rolled into to it and it just picked up to 80 no problem ( never did that before ). There are a lot of guys out there to tune and work on bikes.
