I went to Mickey Shorr to install my aftermarket DVD and Navigation system. They told me it would cost me $230 for full service. When I took my car from them home I've checked if everything is working. I realized that they just installed the system but haven't set it up. A lot of functions didn't work. When I came back with my car to them second time, hoping to resolve this inconvinience, they promised to fix everything at this time. I had to stay at home without car for the whole day.And only by the end of that day I've received a call from them that my car is all set,everything is working perfectly. When I came to take my car, first of all have checked their work. Nothing was fixed!!!! When I've approched them again, they told me it would cost extra money( $100) for setting up. Then I've demanded them to put my original radio back and do refund of money I've paid already. They said there no refunds, even more--I'll have to pay for reinstalling everything back. I have never met such a bad customer care before. I've asked why they didn't tell me in the beginnig what charges they'l take of me, what is included in price, what isn't. Their answer was-you had to know that! Also they told me it was my fault that I didn't know I'd have to pay extra for setting up my new system. If I would know everything that has to be done with my sytem, I woudn't need them and wouldn't waste my money for their poor service.I thought they were professionals in this kind of service.The salespersons were ruogh to talk with, angry and didn't want to cooperate. They don't care about customer satisfaction at all! I had to leave their store with nothing but bad experience.I strongly DO NOT RECOMMEND this store to anyone. They were awful! They took advantage to my 16 year old son. They takes him into a radio that cost almost more than the car was worth. They had him put a deposit on the radio. They told him is was going to come in within a week. It is now 5 weeks later and no radio. No money, and they never contacted him! When I called they were rude and unhelpful. DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY HERE! I purchased a radio and remote starter/alarm system here; spent over $500.00. My initial installation, I was there for over four hours. The waiting room was uncomfortable, the Wi-Fi sucks and cable selection sucks. When I got home and went to lock the doors, the remote didn't work with the doors and the starter didn't work. I took it back and spend another 3 hours there. The starter stopped working after I left the store. Got the starter fixed for the winter, working fine. Had an issue with the ignition. Had ignition replaced twice. Mechanic tells me the wiring of the starter is killing the ignition and he disables it. Go to Mickey Shorr, had to pay $40.00 fee for something mechanic is saying their fault. Recently, radio goes out. I call to go to see when they would stop servicing vehicles; the guy tells me to come in Saturday at 8am. My last visit I was there at 8am and was told that the installers, don't come in till 9am. My friend went into the store and told him that we couldn't bring it in Saturday due to work schedules. Employee comes out checks radio, tells me it's burnt out. I'm like I've only had it for a year. He says he can sell me a comparable low end radio for $109.00. I'm like I spent over $200.00 on this radio, I want the same thing. The radio is burnt out and now the lights on my dashboard won't go off which is now draining my battery. After several visits and money spent, it's still not working. Wasted my life and money utilizing them! Never again! Lesson learned.....NEVER GO TO MICKEY SHORR'S AND BUY ALL THE EXTENDED WARRANTIES!!!! UPDATE: My radio was not burnt out. The wiring they did was jacked up....had to get the wiring redone. Lights off on dashboard and my radio works. Had to get someone else to fix what they did. read more

The service is terrible! Took my vehicle in to the Mickey Shorr in Garden City, Mi on Ford road at 8:40am this morning to have a remote starter installed. Was the first in line to be serviced. By 3:00pm I called to check status and was told that they have not started on vehicle Because they had two vehicles that were left overnight and giving them problems. You think the manger, Jason Tennant was professional enough ? No! At 7:20pm pm, still no word so we just showed up. We're told they don't know how long it will be , possibly 30-45 minutes. I'm writing this review while waiting outside.At 7:37pm , they pulled my vehicle out of garage. I'm assuming they did not realize that we were in the parking lot. We received call ten minutes later saying vehicle was ready. Really! 10 hours to install remote starter. I also noticed that the individuals who also left their vehicle to be serviced.... was gone. Why is that? I was already informed that due to the size of this store they do not schedule many vehicles (3-4) so again I ask why did it take nearly 10 hours to install remote starter and I'm the last person picking up vehicle. Last time at this location. I wish that I had read reviews prior to going here. It's clear to be that the treatment received was racially motivated. I don't play the race card but I recognize racism when I experience. Based on other reviews I'm certain it's racially motivated. I too will follow up with corporate. I went to Mickey Shorr's on Woodward in Royal Oak for installation of remote car starter. I orginally was quote an installation time of 3 hours. I arrived at 9am; the staff wasconstanly playing around, taking numerous breaks. After being there for 5 hours I asked the staff; was there a problem with the installation the staff was extremely rude in answering me and then shut the door to the installation area so I could no longer view what they were doing to my vehicle. The total installation time was 6 hours. The supervisor on site was of no help. I would like to file a complaint with the Mickey Shorr's Coporate Office. I advice you NOT to go to Mickey Shorr on Woodward in Royal Oak. read more

About 5 years ago I went to this Mickey Shorr Location to install a remote start/security system on my 2004 Silverado. They happily installed it. I went back a while later to tell them I was experiencing problems with my remote start portion of my device, they told me they could not work on it because "they work on commission" and I was "going to have to talk to the person who installed my alarm". After throwing a huge fit in the store demanding my vehicle be looked at, they finally did and the problem was resolved. Fast forward to January 2014. I went BACK to this location to get a remote start/alarm installed on my 2000 Silverado and my mom's 2000 Blazer (I guess I hadn't learned my lesson...). Again, they were happy to take my money. When we got the vehicles back, the Silverado worked fine, but my mom's Blazer's heat didn't work on the floor... we called them and they said it wasn't their problem or anything they had done wrong. They insisted it was a blower motor resistor that was causing it not to blow on the floor (we all know, the blower motor resistor only regulates the speeds the heat goes on.) WRONG. While they were installing the remote start on the Blazer they somehow disconnected a vacuum line... I was happy to find this mistake before taking that vehicle to a mechanic and spending a ton of money on nothing. The remote start/alarm on the 2000 Silverado soon began to malfunction. It wouldn't start my vehicle, and made it so my vehicle wouldn't even start at all... Went there asking for a refund and to get the system off my truck- they told me THERE WAS NO WARRANTY AFTER THEY INSTALLED IT. After a few choice words with management and the employees, they worked on my truck and admitted they had installed a wrong item. They also told me that their past manager was actually a pool guy.... no auto experience at all! I pledge to NEVER get anything else installed here... EVER! Stopped in to discuss changing head unit in my 2004 Corvette to obtain BT connectivity. They knew exactly what was needed to interface with Bose, amped system and made me a great deal to boot. I had a remote starter installed at Waterford Mickey Shorr two years ago. Out of no where, the car would ONLY start with the remote, not with the key. My service rep at the dealership, Golling, stated "the module was bad" and had to be replaced. I called Mickey Shorr (in Keygo Harbor) fully intending to purchase a new module. The manager, Tim, asked if I would come in so he could look at it as this diagnosis did not seem correct to him. I did, and within 10 minutes, the car was fixed. It was a simple fuse. The dealership never even checked them. I drove away with a complete fix at no charge. I had wasted two days at the dealership and Tim at Mickey Shorr fixed in in 10 minutes. Generally, I'm a patient man. And to be fair, the last time I had a remote starter installed was in the 1990's. Back then it was roughly $100 plus change, and it was also at a Mickey Shorr. Today I was sticker shocked at the price "give or take," I was told, of $450 for my 2011 Toyota Avalon. Again, to be fair, I know next to nothing about automotive electronics, and my vehicle had a keyless, push-to-start ignition. I had arrived at the store at 8:10am because I wanted to be the first in line to have the starter installed. I'm glad I did as the next customer pulled in next to me at 8:16am. After finishing the transaction, I surrendered my key FOB and was told that the installation would be several hours, as my make and model was a notorious difficult install. When I pressed the sales guy for a better guesstimate on how long it would take, he told me that since I was the first customer in the garage, "it might take three, maybe four hours, but I can't guarantee a time." Since the salesperson was a younger kid, and was trying to be as polite as his modern rearing allowed, I restrained my sarcasm and asked him if he thought I should reschedule my 4:45pm doctor appt. Again, he was polite, and stated that he didn't think the install would possibly take that long, but again, "I can't guarantee that it won't." It's currently 5:21pm. And every 30 minutes or so, someone pokes their head into this disgusting and dirty waiting room and again apologizes for the wait. Thank god I brought my iPad as I'm not a huge fan of the multitude of auto magazines such as 'Thunder Roads' that are strewn about the small table in the center of the room. There's no coffee here, or vending machines, or possibly a toilet for customers. I did a Google search that confirms that it takes between 15-17 hrs to assemble an average midsize car, so naturally I'm curious as what is taking so long to put a auto starter in mine. I returned to the counter with question about the operation of the remote, and Alex the young salesman assured me he would walk me through all the features. At 6:45pm, a mere 9.75 hrs later, a different sales clerk told me that my vehicle was ready. He hastily collect the paperwork and receipts and was walking out the door. I stopped him and told him that Alex said he'd explain everything to me. The Explaination I got was rudimentary at best, and I couldn't help feeling as though I were being rushed out the door. After wasting an entire day waiting in a shabby, cramped waiting room. I was getting the bums rush. WTF!?! The list price of a Toyota installed auto-starter was $495. That big number scared me right into the clutches of a group of immature, uninspired boys who work solely on commission. Using scare tactics, and the hard sell, I wasted an entire day of my life. If I had opted to spend another $50, I would have gotten a complimentary loaner car, and probably more hospitality, and the boys at Mickey Shorr. Please, learn from my lesson; you get what you pay for. And building long lasting relationships with salesmen will always benefit you down the road. Avoid Mickey Shorr if you can. They ARE WRONG! The so called sales manager and the so called associate. I'm over 35 so talking at me like a childish boy is so mean and sick. I'll never go to a place like this without a guy friend because the way they treated me as a professional proper speaking woman was horrid, and i even laughed with the jerk rep at first. Don't go to this place if you're a professional and of ethnic background, and a woman, the "dudes" in there are disrespectful, and don't greet you even properly like "others" they "lap dog" for, i was all set on a radio installation until i wasn't able to hear it first, the sales rep t. got angry and said something with a 'f word' after being mannerable, then he couldn't even issue a refund after 10 minutes, as i waited patiently, and then the manager who didn't say i'll be with you or nothing finally comes and credited it, while the rep stormed out. And the jerk name T. was disccusing this with two ignorant customers outside in the lot, making it uncomfortable to go to my car. I know a lot of people as well. Don't go to this trash can! All I wanted was a little respect and patience and time with asking questions about MY PURCHASE. I was sold until I saw how more disrespectful they became like "he said it's not plugged up", so getting frustrated only made me change my mind, why should i spend over $200 and can't even hear what i'm buying?" while the manager walks by me to make sure he "lap dances like a flunky for an "other dude", so i'm treated like i'm supposed to just accept it, shut up or wait, Are they serious? I can't ask questions about my purchase with ghetto boy having an attitude because I'm a woman professional and they are all intimidated because they all act like they live in a hood or trailer. Went here for an alarm system,which I was told would be a couple hour wait,very expensive one by the way,anyways getting tired of waiting and waiting,I go outside for some fresh air and a smoke,I go by the open garage door area and see my truck inside,but the one doing the work was chowing down on his McDonalds food at the same time,way before noon by the way,anyways finally get my vehicle done,and decide to inquire about some window tint,sounded like decent price so thought why not,unfortunately the tiny guy had not showed up to work that day,so scheduled for a couple days later,I get there and they tell me he is not there again and would be there in about another hour,so holding my anger inside I asked to be called for a third time if he ever showed up,but after driving back home and thinking about this part time workers place I decided to cancel service,I will not beg for someone to want my business,Definitely dysfunctional management at this place and will not return!! read more

They quoted me a price on a transponder along with the car starter. I paid the total bill and left my car for installation. Then they called me to tell me my car needed a different transponder and it would be an additional $21.00. Why didn't the salesperson know that when he quoted me the price? I think the company and the salesman should absorb the difference in price, since this was their error. read more

I bought a kenwood radio with back up camera. They installed it incorrectly, had to bring it back. Now it is not working properly, the radio is of less than good quality, the control's are not working the way they should. All for $1000.00, and by the way, the unit is under 90 days old and they refuse to give me any kind of refund. I am going to have my original radio put back in and it looks like i am out $1000.00. Called in advance and told them I was driving an hour and wanted to make sure there would be no complications. They told me they would get me in right away and it would be a 4 hour install. When I got there they pulled the bait and switch, told me it would be twice as expensive, and 8 hours for the install because there would be a 4 hour wait. Then told me it was my fault for driving an hour because they don't do appointments. While this was going on they were pulling the same bait and switch on the customer behind me, telling him they could get him in right away. When I chimed in and said it was a 4 hour wait, only then, did the sales associate tell the customer the truth that it would be at least a 4 hour wait. IMHO, I wouldn't trust someone like this in my car because I would be afraid someone like this might break something and lie about it. read more

Don't walk through their doors! I had a stereo installed at the royal oak store for my 2003 Dodge Ram. After installation, I had electrical problems (alternator wire burning red hot) with my truck and two of my speakers were not in working order. I asked the manager at the store what the problem was and he told me I had an old truck and that was normal for the speakers to go out. When asked why I wasn't informed of potential problems before installation, he refused to give me a straight forward answer. He said "I have to tell you that you have an 03 truck?". I told him it would have been courteous for them to forewarn me of any potential problems after installation and ask him to help me with the problem. He refused to help or even engage in conversation anymore. His only response to everything I said was "OK". He was a short bald guy with glasses who refused to give his name. He just told me he was the store manager. I received zero customer service and I'm very disappointed that I spent my money with this company. This is one of the worst experiences I've ever had with store management. These guys are true scam artists who say anything to get your money. Car Tunes from now on! read more

I've been going to this Mickey Shorr location in Royal Oak since1994. This is the first time I was not satisfied. We picked out speakers to be put in vehicle, and alarm, I payed and waited. Waited,waited,and waited for them them to come out and tell me after 7 hours there was no way they could finish that day. (install front and rear speakers, radio, and alarm). So I picked up car following day, with the wrong speaker in front. Sales person didnt go over anything with me, not how to set alarm or where the valet switch was or anything I was handed the keys and they went inside There was a big mess left in the car, wires, nails tape etc. And even though the speakers I picked out were sat on the counter and paid for,some how he mistakingly wrote up wrong speaker on receipt. So now they want me to pay more for my original speaker then was quoted. And if I'm not standing directly over my windshield the alarm is useless. I was told " that's how it is". If I wanted longer range I would have to pay extra for that too. Never again, sales people are quick to sale, but if there's a problem u r on your own. And they are very slow. They take more cigarette breaks then they work. read more
