IF YOU CANT STAND BY YOUR WORK DONT BOTHER OFFERING IT. got my engine replaced here in 2019 came back this year with 70,000 on it asking for an inventory of what they had replaced and they told me they didn't have any records and they can't stand by their work because the "previous owner" SKIP didn't do things right. So I paid nearly $7000 to have half the components on my engine that they SWAPPED OVER from the last engine, go out. in the pictures your looking at my receipt for the engine shop, some of the half butt work they've done, breaking multiple clips and just zip tie them to the engine which ended up causing a misfire because the ignition coil was fkn zip tied down. My journey at Skips Auto repair started 20 years ago when I worked across the street. Even though I no longer work in the area, I still only go to Skip's passing up repair shops along the way including those shops that AAA encourages me to tow my vehicle too in which I'll receive a 15% discount. However, for myself, loyalty goes a long way when you're comfortable and have trust. Skips has always delivered with a fair price, professional service, high standards, and the integrity of finding out the root cause of the issue. I feel I've never been up sold or been steered into additional repairs/expenses, and they don't use scare tactics that make you feel you need to do repairs immediately that may not be needed yet. Instead, they only inform you of what they see that may result in future issues or in need of repair/replacement in the near future. So, with each visit, I feel I'm only paying for what is necessary to get my vehicle in a drivable condition, typically resolving the issue I took it in for. I've never walked away from Skip's feeling I broke the bank or spent more that I needed too. Even though I've been going for 20yrs, this is my first review. I just need to commend the team at Skips for the patience they had with my 3yr old truck in diagnosing a sporadic non-starting issue. This issue was not an easy one to trace or identify, it did not show up with a scan, nor did the issue occur enough allowing a technician to easily duplicate the issue for proper diagnoses. After dealing with this issue for a few months, I just concluded that the only way to rectify this issue is to leave it with Skips until the non-starting issue occurs for them. What I appreciate here is the patience and space of allowing my vehicle to stay with them for over a week. They spent the time not only starting the vehicle several times each day, but driving it around, parking and unparking, just waiting for the issue to occur for them. Again, this was a 3yr old truck with 38K millage, just out of warranty. To most and even I considered it, would be to take it back to the dealer for review. However, in my mind I felt I would not get the attention needed to properly diagnose this issue with a dealer, would they spend over a week starting my truck several times a day and allow it to remain on their lot for over a week. I feel the fee for this attention would be astronomical with a dealer and that I would have received a call after 2-3 days to come and pick up my vehicle as their not seeing an issue with it. Granted the dealer presupposition is just an assumption. However, my overall point is, I knew based on my previous experience with Skip's that they were the one shop that I knew would truly work with me through this issue and not leave me stranded or unsatisfied. I'm truly appreciative for this auto repair shop in my life, as it's obvious to me their driven by providing customer satisfaction and not necessarily dollar signs. I've been loyal to Skip's for 20yrs and will remain loyal until Skip's or I is no longer around, LOL. read more

They fix what is wrong with your car; they may suggest other things to be looked at, but are not high pressure. You can count on them fixing your car right the first time. This place is horrible, I took my car in for a clutch replacement paid over $1100.00 and they didn't bleed it correctly. I could barely get it in gear and on top of that they did something else wrong because there was a lot of smoke coming out of my car. They said well "you beat the crap out of this thing" quite the explanation for not doing the job right. I had to take it somewhere else and pay a lot more money to have it fixed correctly. Also they put about 60 miles on my car and my tank was empty after being full when I dropped it off. Oh and it took them a month to fix and they broke my grill. Stay awayyyyyy! read more

I had a steering sensor (torque position) go out on my Ford Escape. They provided a quote and made the repair within a reasonable amount of time costing much less than what I was quoted elsewhere. Initially I felt this was a good place, recently paid over $1500 to repair a few things one of them being brakes, I still feel that my brakes are very difficult to press down on and I don't feel that the issue was fixed at all, I went back because they were supposed to fix my trunk and the trunk ended up having the same problem again so they had to fix it which took a period of about a month and a half because every time I called to try to schedule a time they kept saying they were busy and I also have a busy schedule myself but didn't seem too concerned about my time, only their busy schedule. It seemed like they kept pushing out the time I had to wait in order to get the problem fixed. This is unacceptable, if you put in a part and it doesn't work please fix it in a timely manner don't make a person wait months. So I finally got my trunk fixed, then they felt there was $160 issue for something else with the trunk so I paid for that when I go to pick my car up the entire control panel for the panel for the door was pushed in so badly that I couldn't even roll my window down whereas this was never an issue before. It seems like they have messed up my car more than when I brought it in. Stay away. Just stay far away. read more

Only place I trust with my car been going there for years and willing to tow my car from anywhere to them. In one occasion my coolant plugs made of plastic broke and they had to remove the whole engine to fix due to the placement. Ended up being around 200-300 (other places wanted close to 400 if not more) due to hours and hours of labor, no problem but it broke again and they fixed it out of warranty for free because it was within a year and gave me free metal replacement parts since they just hit the aftermarket, since then no problems. That's just one example, another time my power steering went out twice, went somewhere else, 2 different places and finally to skips and they told me that they didn't screw in the bolt tight enough and barley charged me anything as all they needed was just to tighten up the bolt.....my stories can go on but you get the point. Enough said these guys got you and can be trusted..... have accidentally left valuables there by accident a couple times and never got stolen, of course never tempt people but due my ignorance on those occasions their honesty proved trustworthy! read more

New Management, said to drop off the car at 8 am and I'll have it back by noon. I called after noon to find out what was wrong and how much to fix? Paul said the car is just pulled up, we will call you in 15 minutes. I call back at 1:30 and someone named sontos was very rude, mad that I called a few times. Said what was wrong with the car and when I asked questions, he was mad and talking to me like I was dumb. I asked how much for a oil change and tire rotation, again rude told me the price then said I'm charging you 50 bucks for looking at the car. Skip never charge, always was nice and reasonably priced. I complained about him and just got blown off. They are rude and over priced. Sontos claims he is the manager, he needs to go. I don't recommend skips auto to anyone! read more

I had a really good experience with them putting in a transmission BUT that was before it was sold. I recommended them to my daughter and they charged her three times as much for diagnostics as they told her on the phone. They did not give her a written estimate and did not call her for the extra fee. The Dealer fee for the same diagnostics was lower then they charged. To find out they had put silicone on a part that shouldn't have had it & hand tightened screws causing the seal to come lose resulting in oil spurting all over my engine damaging belt they had replaced and causing coolant to drain completely out of my car. I brought my car here on Janelle's recommendation and I'm so glad I did. I do not dole out 5's lightly, so this review should be taken accordingly. It's not for the frills or decoration of the place, because the frills are utterly absent and the decoration negligible. But you don't judge a mechanic based on the ambiance of his waiting room. Do you? Not much needs to be said except that this place is called "Skip's Auto ER" and it was Skip I spoke with when I first called, and to Skip that I delivered my keys when I dropped off my car. He guaranteed me he'd have the repairs done before the end of the day and offered to call me before doing any work to let me know about pricing. He made good on his guarantee. There's an entirely different level of accountability when the store's namesake is actually the man who runs the front desk and also works in the back--I like that tremendously. I needed my heat shield fixed (it was dragging on the ground due to broken bolt/screw holes) and a new horn. When Skip called me to tell me the new horn would be $118, I thought he meant $118 for the parts. He meant $118 for the parts and labor! He didn't even charge me to reattach the heat shield (and was kind enough to use the one that was already on the car, even though it was beat up, instead of telling me I had to buy a new one, which I definitely didn't want to do). Paul is Skip's primary mechanic and has been working on cars for 50 years. His '57 Chevy still runs like a beaut, though I'm told the roar of its engine has been known to stop hearts, and not in a good way. These guys are the real deal and I'd recommend them to anyone. I've already sent my own mother over to them. If that's not an endorsement, I don't know what is. Skip and Co. are the best, most trustworthy mechanics I've come across. I went to Skips after checking out the online reviews. After spending $2000 (skip told me on the phone the bill would be 1800, yet when I showed up I was informed the bill was $2046 and Skip was not around) other than the car no longer having a failed exhaust, it really did not feel any better. It was also making the same noise I was told pointed to it needing need struts, strut mounts, ball joints and tie rod ends. After I took the car back to diagnose why it still made so much noise twice, I decided to get a second opinion. I was shocked to be informed by the other shop that I needed new struts. How could that be ? I just paid for new struts ? The other shop informed that there was no way my car had new struts. I brought Skip the obviously no new struts and he refunded my money. The next week, the car started making noise, a spring in the back had failed. How could that be ? I just paid Skip for a rear brake kit and new brake pads ? This is when I decided to crawl under the car a look at the ball joints I paid for. The picture is posted here. Judge for yourselve, was that put on 6 weeks ago ? I went back to Skip and showed him the picture, after some heated debate he told me too leave.
