Stop in recently for a quick bite, when I was in town for a business meeting. Asked a local where's the best place for a good burrito, told me Mickey's was "the" place to go. Was greeted with a friendly welcome by staff, who was very helpful explaining the menu options. Ordered the chicken burrito and chips and Annie's salsa. WOW! Hands down the best burrito I've ever had, so flavorful, fresh, and as the name implies.. MASSIVE. Plus, Annie's salsa is the real deal. Not too hot but has the right amount of kick. So disappointing! Came here super hungry looking for a flavorful lunch and ended up getting a huge burrito filled with white sticky rice. The rice made the food tasteless. I have been a long time customer of Mickey's Massive Burritos. I always make it a point to stop in when I pass through Peru. The food is great, at least when you order it from the actual storefront in Peru. I was excited to see that Mickey's had a booth at the Sandwich Fair this year. I was NOT excited when I received my burrito. It was much smaller than what you would get at the store, the ingredients were nowhere near the same, and to top it off, it cost $14! Buyer beware, do not buy from the booth at the Sandwich Fair, if you have had their food before it is not the same. They are using inferior ingredients, smaller portions, and have the nerve to charge more! This is very disappointing because they have always been a great business. My loyalty is gone. read more

Being a part of a local rewards program I had received a text that I had a free something or other in honor of my birthday. It was valid for the 2 days before my birthday and the day of. I respect the fact that an expired coupon is not required to be honored after it is expired. 100% My issue was more with how I didn't feel appreciated as a potential customer. I attempted to ask the main food server about whether it might be honored but more importantly I wanted to know what it was (to see if I would even be interested - obviously that would impact my final order). She seemed annoyed I was asking and pointed me towards the owner...okay, no problem. The owner came through with hot food to be delivered and engaged me with, "Whatcha got?" I attempted to start explaining but he was walking out to deliver the food and respectfully I knew that is was more appropriate for me to hold off until he was actually free. He came back in and I asked about the birthday gift and he too seemed annoyed by the question. He pointed out he wouldn't be able to tell me until I got up there to pay (which didn't help me in needing to make a decision on what to order) and made a point of emphasizing that it was, "for the couple days before...not after." I respect and would have been fine with him not being able to honor the coupon at all though I would think as the owner of the establishment he could do whatever he wanted. Even if just to say I will give you a little something anyway even if I can't do that. At that point I didn't feel comfortable needing to step up to the window and have to ask more questions since I was clearly already a nuisance...so we walked. I have had bad food experiences here before (cold, etc...) and never complained. I can't say I care to return somewhere that I am clearly not appreciated as a potential customer though. It's sad because I always liked the Annie's tacos even back when they sold them out of the camper at the Taste of the Illinois Valley. All good things come to an end though. He has been in business for 20 years and I am sure he will be fine without any additional business from me. Food is decent when not cold. At first we were a little annoyed at the fact tht a burrito and cheese quesadilla would take an hour to get delivered, but the delivery guy was nice so it wasn't a big deal. Then when we got our food ZOOWEEMAMA it was soo good! We literally both just ate the one burrito and we couldn't finish it together, but it was so good, we forced ourselves to finish it If your skeptical about Mickeys , DONT BE! Have driven by the Mickey's sign on I-39 numerous times on my way to Madison, and finally decided to stop by. Look, I have eaten at too many Chipotle's too remember (or forget) have visited several 'knock off' style restaurants so have seen this type of grub many times. Mickey's is flat out fantastic. As soon as I finished my meal my wife received a text stating 'this place blows Chipotle away'. Ordered the massive burrito bowl in pork carnitas. The pork was as tender as I have EVER encountered and lean, although it could use some spice, which is the only negative I have. The toppings are all top notch- did not try the guacamole, but the pico is fine, nothing special, but their homemade hot salsa is as good as anything I have ever experienced. Not too hot to make flavors indistungishable and great texture. The owner Mickey took the time to speak with me and explained he wants everything served to be top notch, and I believe it. Was so refreshing to hear this. The salsa mentioned above is an old family recipe and when I asked Mickey what peppers were used, well, I lost track there were so many. Stuff is friggin' good! Can't wait to stop here again and wish he had a franchise in the Dayton Ohio area. read more

We decided that we needed food and so we went there and we were greeted by this very nice woman at the counter. She gave us ice for our dogs and some MASSIVE burritos. I had been craving Mickey's. It became one of my favorite places after we moved here. Got to eat inside. It had a heavy bug spray smell. I was about 2/3 done with my salad when I found a hair that matched the gal cooking in the kitchen. I told her the veggies I had added to my salad had a hair in it. All she said was oh sorry. She was wearing no hairnet. I decided to eat some of my husband's chips, until I found an eyelash on one of them. In this day of disease, I won't be back after finding hair and an eyelash. Hmmm where to start...... so we arrived at Mickey's right after they opened, It was 11:05 or so....... we waited patiently while the gal with the short blond hair got her self Together to take our order...... she eventually asked us what we wanted. We ordered 3 Annie's tacos and a Burrito ... the gal gives the taco order to the guys in the back.... the proceeds to get her hands gloves up to make the burrito ahhhh wait the phone rings..... she walks over answers the phone with her gloved hands and is on the phone taking an order....... she's back proceeds to make the Burrito with those gloves on that she just talked into..... ugh. You do get a big burrito but it's mostly rice. Taste is ok. Steak was pretty good. But for the extra add ons you get very little and if you want little more it's charged. Do your self a favor and if you take it to eat at home use your own sour cream and guacamole at the store you'll save 4 dollars.. ensalada was good and the line vinegraret is better than I thought but like before if you want a little more of corn salsa or or whatever on it it's like a teaspoon for a few dollars more. I got the chicken tacos which were pretty good, but I could have done without the vinaigrette and would have preferred corn tortillas. I also got the chips and salsa which weren't great. The food at Mickey's in and of itself is about 4 stars, but overall, two stars is pretty generous. First, forget the prices on the menu. Everything costs extra. Cheese? Extra. Sour cream? Extra. Pico? Extra. I'm not talking 35¢, these addons are over a dollar a piece. If you want a burrito for its natural price, prepare to be disappointed in your portions. Second, the customer treatment is horrible--nothing shy of embarrassing for both the establishment and to the customer. Every time without fail I'm treated like I'm a burden. I always order a burrito bowl which is easy; they don't need to fire up the grill or do anything other than schlop the ready ingredients into the bowl. Well, the staff...no matter who it is...greets me with a "What do you need?" The owner rung me up a couple times. Never a "thank you" or "good night". Once, I got a pretty neat eye roll from an employee after thanking and tipping them. I thought it was me, but I've witnessed the same or worse treatment to the customers ahead or behind me. Rotten shame. The food is good...not immaculate...but good. But I've been treated poorly by these guys and the owner for the last time. I will not return until they've proven they have their act together. If you don't like walking away feeling guilty or embarrassed for no reason, I advise you stay away from Mickey's. Mr. J's right next door isn't great food, but the staff will treat you with dignity. read more

I love Mickey's food... It has always been good. My order today was very good as well but I am upset because it took two hours to deliver me 2 burritos. I had ordered them so my boyfriend and I could have lunch together on his break but he had to leave and eat something else because it took so long. First off, we have always hear great things about Mickey's. But we were extremely disappointed in our visit today. When we walked in, it was 2:30pm, and there were no other customers in the establishment. Our son ordered the Baja Burger, and the man waiting on us, I assume was the owner, told us it would take nearly 20 min to cook. The grill was not even turned on, so that took forever to get heated up, then the added time to cook the "frozen" burger patty, He had to go to the back for the bun, which, it should of been right there, and handy! The lettuce, onion, avocado were kept in the back, and the cilantro/tomato mixture was kept in a compartment UNDER the grill! He then started mine, and my husbands steak burritos. There was way more rice, and beans, than meat. Once he got the "hot stuff" on the tortilla, he moved down the line to the "cold" items. I asked for guacamole, which I noticed was turning brown! The ground beef, taco meat was in the COLD section, and floating in grease! The man never offered us nacho cheese, or salsa for our chips, nor did he ask us what we wanted to drink. Once we sat down, and opened up our burritos, we took the first bite, and immediately noticed it was cold, not even a stitch warm at all. I was afraid of getting sick. My husband took our food back up to the owner, and asked him if he could put it on the grill, with the foil, to get it hot. The man was rude, and my husband was trying to explain, that I had worked food service for 28 years, and never had he experienced cold food, when the "hot stuff" was in a steam well. That man, just stood there, rolled his eyes, and said " Well, I don't know what to tell ya!" He gave the stuff back to my husband, and the bottom of the burritos were barely warm. The service sucked, the food cold, my son's burger had more onion, than meat. It should of been called an onion burger instead! Their prices are ridiculously high, and everything you add, costs a dollar, or more! WE PAID $30, for those 2 burritos, and that burger!!!!! My suggestion to the owner, is to man up, get more help, be sure your equipment is working properly, because it was pretty obvious your steam wells were NOT even hot. Prep less at a time, especially the guacamole, since it was turning brown! For the prices you charge, the extras such as cheese, salsa, guacamole, should be included in the price! I mean $7.99 for a steak burrito, but there is barely even any steak on it! If you are so annoyed by your customers, then I suggest selling the place, so you can retire! Ever heard the saying, "the customer is always right?" You acted like we didn't know crap, and I sir, think I know way more than you, and I have never even had 1 bad mark when state, or county came in for inspection. I wonder how you will fare on your next inspection! If I get sick, you can bet I will be contacting the Health Department! read more

The not-so-great: Service.. oh, the service. If you come during a time when the staff is filling delivery and pick-up orders, get ready for a very long wait. If you order delivery, you are guaranteed to have AT LEAST one item made incorrectly, and the delivery will be much later than the requested time. My coworkers and I have tried faxing in a written order and requesting delivery a full 30 minutes before our lunch break actually began--and we still didn't get it right and on time! Avoid lunch and dinner-time hours, or go on a weekend and you will have a great (and filling) meal. read more

I ordered the massive nachos with ground beef and my husband ordered the enchilada plate. The place was pretty busy for a Wednesday night. If you stray from the burrito or salads it seems to take a little longer for your order. Still not overly long. Food was pretty good - really hit the spot. Servings were "massive" as described!
