I've never seen a burrito place with hidden charges before. Guacamole isn't on the extras menu but it sure was an extra like $3. It's a rip off Chipotle and not as good. I'd avoid if I were you. I would like to give mickeys a good review but I can't, especially since I showed up tonite at 8:37 pm. Mickey's closes at 9 pm, so I felt like it wasn't necessarily a problem. Man was I wrong, I went to pull open the door and saw the door was locked, so I proceeded to knock on the door to get the employees' attention. I noticed they both looked up at me and started laughing. At first I felt embarrassed and angry thinking they knew who I was and just didn't want to serve me but after reading the reviews, I understand that is the norm for the way they treat customers. I'm not sure why everyone loves this place. A "massive" steak burrito consists of mostly rice & beans, with a little scoop of steak that's usually cold from sitting in a bin for hours. The value is terrible. A taco is about $3, and a burrito will cost you almost $10 once they put what you want on it. The fried tacos aren't bad, but you can find better at just about every bar in town. Fajitas is just a few blocks away, and the food is 100x better! read more

The food is actually quite excellent. It is extremely similar to Chipotle. However, beware, you are "nickeled and dimed" for anything you add up to and including packaging if it is a carry out. Add sour cream, tack on $1.09, add an extra scoop of salsa, tack on almost another $1, adds up quick. read more

My wife and I tried their steak burritos at the Psycho Silo Saloon. They have a roach coach setup there. I'm giving them a 3 for flavor, but at $8.50 a burrito the size is ridiculously small. I would not say these are "massive" burritos, but they are very good! Mickey's is rather reminiscent of a certain chain restaurant that makes burritos. The modern decor in a small old town is very cool. I take off a star for service. At 8:00 Saturday night (what self respecting burrito joint closes at 9?) there was one poor guy to take our large order and things backed up. He didn't write anything down and the order was inevitably wrong. And by the time the order was done the first items we bought we cold. All in all, not a bad place. I've loved Mickey's! Over the last 15+ years I've gone there constantly but last night was my last night to eat at Mickey's. I went in at 8:30 and was greeted with outright contempt. There was annoyance that I was there to order food for my family, frustration with the fact that they had to go get spoons to serve the food that was sitting there to be served since they don't close until 9 but they had taken away because they wanted to leave early. Mumblings of how they aren't getting out of there early now because there were orders of mine and another persons. The phone rang for an order and they said "hold please" so they didn't have to take the order. I spent $38.46 to be treated as if I was a problem. I was going to order a few drinks with my to go order but thought it might send someone into a rage if I asked for anything more so I didn't. So disappointing! I've put up with bad service before at Mickey's but this was the final time that I will be treated this way for the amount of money I spend! :( read more

I use to love mickeys but time and time again they have proven to me that it's not a place to spend your money or time on. Every time I get a burrito bowl and by the end of it (getting cheese, sour cream, ext) it's over $10 for a meal. They charge an extra dollar for everything! Portions are not worth that. Secondly, customer service is the worst I've ever witnessed. Not once, but almost EVERY time I go the same employee has been there for over a year, rolls his eyes, never polite or inviting, sighs at any extra work he has to do, and I've seen him physically hit his head on the swinging door in the kitchen to open it. That kind of behavior is embarrassing to the owner I would hope.. But I guess not. Lastly, I have ordered delivery a couple times to avoid all the rudeness but both times it's been the same employee that was rude even on the phone!! AND our food was cold! So with that being said. I will never choose Mickeys Massive again, customer service is the most important because the food isn't horrible, but the service is. MIckey Massive Burritos is a fantastic place for great fresh food. It is located in downtown La Salle in a cool and inviting building. The food was very satisfying! We recently had a party and had Mickey's cater the event! It was awesome start to finish. They provided a great spread of enchiladas, tacos, their famous ensalada with lime vinaigrette (amazing)! The owner's son, Michael, was completely disrespectful towards me on my visit to La Salle. I was visiting town with a friend and we were famished after our hike. I ordered guac and salsa for our kids, but realized that it wouldn't be enough and changed my order. The employee then started to become extremely irritated with me, stating that I was purposely trying to find something wrong and that he didn't even know why he worked there. He blamed me for his reason for hating his job and when I asked for his name he initially refused to tell me because he knew I was upset. He then told me that his dad was the owner, in hopes that it would discourage me from contacting him. I have been here many times because I love the food which Is similar to Chipotle which isn't around here locally! The last time that I went which was recently, the owner said he doesnt Give receipts anymore under 20$ transactions! I used my debit card! There are no Signs anywhere saying that there is an addition fee for using debit as credit cards! After the transaction with my debit card went through, he told me that he wouldn't give a receipt and now charges for the CC and debit cards! This is a new law and he can do that by law now, but doesn't notify The customer upfront! The owner was rude about it! He didn't even give a chance to change the transaction and pay by cash! The food here is without a doubt 4 star quality. But everything else was a 1 star. My family and I came here for the first time expecting a great time we were wrong. The employees treat you like crap and stare at you while you try and figure out the menu. Never once was I welcomed offered help or heard thank you. One individual staff member was yelling in the back and then came out grabbed dirty trays and then slammed a door and then the trays in the back. There food is no where near massive. If you're expecting a man vs food burrito portion don't come here there "massive" burrito is no bigger then a taco bell XXL burrito. I think this place has a neat idea but is done all wrong. You get burritos that literally weigh 2+ lbs for a semi decent price, but it's the customer service that blows! Between the rude owner to closing the store early (on several occasions), I've definitely had more bad experiences here than good. Like everyone else local, I know firsthand how ridiculously mismanaged this establishment is by the owner, HOWEVER the food is damn good people. Yes, it is a bit more expensive than people around here are used to, but that is because everything is made fresh daily and it is tasty! It is fresh and they use high quality ingredients. They do not use microwaves or frozen ingredients. The food is delicious and it's the only place, and I mean the ONLY place outside of my own kitchen I can get a decent salad around here. If you love food with a zesty southwestern kick, and you have a big appetite, you have to try this place out. It can get very busy around lunch hour, with a line going all the way back to the door, but otherwise the service is fast. There will be an occasional disgruntled employee (see first sentence of this review) but just remember that the food is great and don't sweat the small stuff. If a guy named Simon still works there, he is very professional and provides wonderful customer service, they should just hand over the keys to that guy. I recommend the massive ensalada with cilantro lime dressing. (The dressing is homemade and the nectar of the gods.) read more
