I tried to order a computer for work from here only to find out they will only sell products in person. My admin could not complete a phone order or place the order online so I could pick it up; she had to present the corporate credit card in person. My only other option was to set up a purchase order account which would take weeks. Neither option was feasible and the rep I talked to was extremely unhelpful in finding a solution and told me to shop elsewhere. They made sure I bought compatible hardware and hardware that suits my needs. And gave me their opinion and experiences. I cannot stress how fortunate it is to have a physical store where you can bring back your purchase. My aging computer - which started to show signs of failing hardware - finally passed away. McKenzie from customer relations reached out again to resolve the most recent billing issue and after a few weeks going back and forth, I was able to get the credit I was initially promised by the Cambridge CSR back in November. Sad it took three months and a lot of follow ups, but eventually the corporate office did the right thing after verifying that I did actually call. This being said, I am still generally unhappy with leadership's attitude at this specific location. Having worked retail for five years, I don't know how they get away with treating customers this poorly. Regardless, I won't hesitate any longer to return to this location if I need some parts same day or if their prices are better than the online stores (honestly, their pricing is usually better on any given day, so they have that going for them). My previous recommendations still stand, make sure you jot down the names of who you speak with if you have a problem, and stay away from their extended warranties. read more

Specs are always posted online, and everything is so standardized when it comes from the manufacturer, that you know exactly what you're buying when you're shopping on Amazon or Ebay. Microcenter gets it right. The prices are always competitive and they price match to Amazon. Often the deals at Microcenter are much better than ones online. Lots of great deals on mobos, graphics cards, processors, cases. When I built my desktop I had a field day here, it was fantastic. I helped my girlfriend pick out speakers here and there were some nice deals on refurbished one. We had to return and exchange once but it was a breeze. I ended up taking the ride of about an hour away to come up to this particular Micro Center because their website shown a Intel arc a 770 in stock but after 4 to 5 people trying to look for it they're telling me they don't have any. Very disappointing for an individual who doesn't live around the corner to it. They were more expensive than manufacturers prices by $250 on a $2500 machine (I should have checked Microsoft before) and their extended warranty plans compare poorly with Microsoft's ($50 more for 2 years less). They don't seem to offer the Microsoft Complete protection. If you need guidance and you are in a hurry and not price sensitive they are a good choice, but do your homework on pricing (expensive lesson learned) read more

I went to Micro Center after a terrible experience at an Apple Store trying to resuscitate my computer. Even though the team at Micro Center could not do anything to help me, they tried everything they could, explained what they'd tried, and gave me a more thorough understanding of what had happened to my computer. They were also empathetic to the loss of data on my computer, which was definitely not my experience at Apple. I then talked with an awesome sales associate who really helped me figure out what the best replacement device would be for me, given my work load, kind of work, and budget. The Micro Center Cambridge is comical. Perhaps, the most comical aspect of Micro Center's marketing, is their infamous "18 minute in-store pick-up committment." 18 minutes, huh? On a recent day, history repeated itself for me at The Micro Center Cambridge. I ordered a printer toner cartridge at the Micro Center website, for in-store pick-up. I drove to Micro Center Cambridge (I know, you Cambridge folks, I destroyed the carbon footprint), where I got in the cue for in-store pick-ups. Over the ensuing 30 minutes, I watched, what I believe was a cross of an episode of The Jerry Springer Show, and Tales of America's Worst Businesses. There was only one staffperson seemingly doing something, behind the "In-Store Pickup" counter; she went back and forth, between the back of the house, and the front of the house, moving very s-l-o-w-l-y (looking much more random, than purposeful). Staring at those of us standing in line, was a female, dressed like a man, who did nothing, other than hold the counter up (no acknowledgement of the customer's in-line, no offer to assist us, and no aplology for the delay). Then, the other character behind the counter, a morbidly obese guy, who had to leave the counter, to get, guess what, a candy bar and a sugar-infused soda, was equally dismissive (and NOT customer-centric). He too, made no acknowledgement of the customers in line, offered no apology for the delay, and made no offer to assist us. Oh, 18 minutes? Hah! I waited about 30 minutes to pick-up my "Ready in 18 minutes" Internet order. That was after Micro Center Cambridge took 18 minutes to pull the toner cartridge from a shelf, somewhere. Talk about marketing hyperbole. But, I was able to entertain myself, looking at the characters behind the counter (Micro Center Cambridge staff people), and their indifference for, and low regard for their customers. Friendly, understanding, and knowledgeable staff! The repair team treats each client's tech issues like their own! I own an Apple Mac laptop and updated the OS software, which was not downloaded properly resulting in corrupt software. Files on my desktop were not backed up and I ran the risk of losing them. As a college student with final reports and final exams around the corner, I was most concerned about losing all my files. I brought it to Micro Center's Repair Clinic at 4pm and spoke with Yonus. Yonus asked me to describe the issue and once he saw the computer he immediately identified the software was corrupt. I explained that the files were the most important to recover. He reassured me that he and his team will back up all files and restore the software to functioning properly. He understood the urgency of the situation and told me the job will be done by tonight. I left the laptop at Micro Center for them to work on. By 7pm I received a text updating me on the status and I returned to Micro Center. To ensure the remaining process was smooth, the team completed restoring the software and restoring the files for me. At 10pm, data restoration was complete and the computer was restarted, everything was complete. Yonus told me to email him letting him know how the software and apps were running. His continued support is appreciated. Overall, incredible customer service! Yonus was reassuring and the team was checking on the progress. Extremely friendly, understanding, and knowledgeable staff. I would highly recommend Micro Center, specifically the repair team. They are geniuses! read more

I walked in (rolled, rather, using a shopping card as I'd hurt my knee in a bicycle fall) with my laptop - the display wasn't working. Deeply appreciate the courteous and efficient young man (Rafael?) who helped me. Initially said I would need to check the laptop in and it would take a minimum of two days but then opened it up to diagnose the issue, found the display cable had debris or had moved, and fixed it within five minutes. Didn't even charge me for it. Thanks also to the supervisors for their patience, kindness and compassion for my distressed state. While I was there I saw some other customers come in who were also distressed - but some quite rude. The staff dealt with them courteously too. Thank you all. read more

I have been using MicroCenter since the early 2000's. I have bought pre-builds, notebooks and have custom rigs made. They have always been acceptable to great. The unit I bought (Dell OptiPlexSFF). I had very minimal requirements as it is a workstation. It was supposed to be wireless (it wasn't) and it didn't come with the WINDOWS disc & key. I called about this and I was told how to find out what my key was. That isn't what I paid for. The staff member I spoke with at the MicroCenter said there was nothing he could do, bnd that the manager would reach out. Several weeks have gone by and I have not heard from the manager about these errors. The simple fact that Microcenter won't give out the contact phone or email to the manager, and that they haven't reached out to me isn't acceptable. I was running back-and-forth to you in my cargo pants buying CD Roms and Zip drives to burn modeling portfolios. You were so nice to me then. You treated me with respect. I looked up to you because you knew what you were talking about. You weren't just some pimple faced teenager trying to make a few bucks off of me. You didn't make me feel like I was bothering you, or that I wasn't very bright when I had questions. You didn't push me when I couldn't make up my mind. And, unlike those other big boxed stores who took advantage of me with their overpriced items, re-stocking fees and Black Friday promotions, you were upfront, honest and didn't pull any gimmicks on me because you respected me and my decisions. But now, when I come to you, you're pushy and you make me feel unwanted. I have to wait in long lines just to talk to you, and you don't answer my emails. You even tried to sell me a faulty monitor. And when I tried to talk to you about it, you dismissed me like I was just another drive-by. You made me feel cheap. You know... I'm not some dad-jeans wearing, Old Spice smelling, middle-aged man that you can just push aside while you talk to someone new because you think they have more to offer you than me. I'm more than that. Well, I'm writing to let you know that I have found someone else to give me everything I need. He's kind, patient, easy to reach and talk to. I would never expect to have my dream PC built to how I imagined and I have to give all the thanks and credits to microcenter ! The service manager Yonas H. was very professional and polite when it came to letting me know upfront everything my PC was going to need and the cost of the whole process. He knew off the bat everything about my PC and my parts and really took initiative of the build. The PC builder Min Tung(Who I would STRONGLY RECOMMEND) made my PC absolutely beautiful and perfect. I've always been a gamer at heart and finally decided to build my first pink PC and he delivered that to me. The aesthetics of the case and the parts mean a whole lot to the build and I'm happy Yonas H. And Min Tung were able to be apart of and build my first PC. Been going to MicroCenter for years now. Always helpful, knowledgeable staff. My computer wasn't booting to Windows for some strange reason. Yanos literally touched it once and it came back to life. They repaired my macbook air (replaced battery) and it was pretty smooth. I was told it would be ready in 3 to 5 business days but they ended up emailing me saying somebody cancelled their order and it is ready in 1 business days. The battery seems to work. It was about 50% charged. So now I am charging to see how long it will work without charging but I expect it will be longer than before but not sure if same as original. There were a few new scratches on my screen (looks like somebody cleaned it and scratched it while doing it.) No other complaints. read more

I couldn't be more pleased or thankful for my experience with the team at Micro Center. My laptop motherboard stopped working and I was unable to access important data files that I need for a presentation. Had gone to apple and they said it would take 2-3 day at least to get it off. That wouldn't have work for me... Yonas at Micro Center expedited the process and began pulling data off my computer almost the minute I came through the door. 400 GB recovered by the end of the day and I was able to pick up my laptop and hard drive that night before the store closed. They were professional, comforting and really recognized the time crunch that I was facing. I couldn't recommend them more. read more

Not safe with COVID. I recently had to take something in for service. I had to wait in a small room with a teenager who was not covering his nose (or much else) with his mask. The staff said nothing. Then I came in again to pick up my equipment. I bought a few things too. When I was waiting in line to pay there was only one cashier and he was wearing his mask very low and not covering his nose. I put my goods down and just left. A person who is wearing a mask that is not covering his or her nose is very unsafe. What is such a joke is that there is a person at the front door spraying everyone's hands with disinfectant. But when not even staff are wearing masks properly, the store is simply unsafe. Especially a crowded store like Microcenter. I have been shopping here for years. I am done until after Covid or until management convinces me they are serious about keeping their customers and staff safe read more

Renal and Eric did a good job helping me with the issues I thought I had with my Dell. They checkout the PC and found nothing wrong with it and & they did suggest that maybe other things were causing my monitor from Flickering which was helpful. There was No charge, however that was primarily because it was still under warranty. PS..I have another Dell PC which I bought from MicroCenter back about five years ago it was a refurbished unit. and runs real slow I do not store anything on the PC as far as Data except for a Lotta pictures and videos. I wanted MicroCenter to put all the pictures and videos on a CD but come to find out they no longer do that ....what they do is put it on a separate hard drive which in my case is useless I'm not computer savvy. It would be a lot simpler for me and cheaper for me to be on a CD. So what they've done is make the situation more expensive for the customer 150 dollars for the hard drive. From start to finish Micro Center built a PC for me that rocks hard! Sarah the young lady that put my build together is amazing! Listen man, I'm legend in these streets. I can't have my brand Bobby Shakes attached to something that isn't high end. I need a build that I can take a beaten and keep on ticking. Not only did Sarah school me on PC's she took her time and explained the process. When we got the build over to the service team. They were pumped and excited to build another computer. Don't trust this company. I ordered an item last Saturday and they processed my payment and confirmed it, and said it was ready for pickup. As I'm driving there I get an email saying they cancelled it because they over sold the item. When ordered there were 3 in stock? Then the person that sent the email wouldn't respond to my reply email asking for a call back from him or the store manager? The store doesn't answer phone calls so I get placed on hold for an hour on the generic business line. I then text the help line. Another hour later they say its escalated to get the manager to call me. The next day they send me another email saying come down to pick up your item or we will place it back for sale? I text again asking if I should drive down again. After 20 minutes they say not to drive there and a manager will call me. Well it's now Thursday and no response from the super escalated call from the manager? My advice is to stay clear of this store. They used to be great but now they don't care about anything. 62 years and I've never seen such poor service! read more

My computer was not charging so I went to Micro Center. The sales person plugged in the computer and decided I needed a new battery. Micro Center stocks batteries compatible with my brand of computer, but the sales person said they did not have the battery. It took a long time to determine this fact. The sales person gave me a number and told me that was the battery I needed. The sales person said that Best Buy had the battery. Best Buy did not have the battery in stock. The number was meaningless. To make a long story short, I ordered a new battery on line. That was not the problem. The problem was the cord. Had the sales person started at checking the cord, I would have saved money and aggravation. read more

Went to the Apple authorized repair center within this store. What a waste of time. Setting aside the non-verbal hostility and agitation that was clearly audible with the heavy moaning and exhaling (not sure what that was about, but sketchy at best!) by 2 service techs for simply bringing my MacBook for repair, their response was nothing short of we can't help you. What? Isn't this an authorized Apple repair center? I must have misunderstood when I scheduled the service appointment with this Apple authorized center through the Apple website identifying this as a Apple care authorized repair center. Would have saved myself a lot of time and energy just going to Apple store directly. Which is where I went and the repair is underway, easy! And no sketchy service techs with significant attitude and an apparent groaning issue - crazy stuff! read more
