My go to shop for video equipment, technology hardware, and PC parts. Needed a powerful PC on a reasonable budget. Jerome Jay in the pre-built PCs helped me figure out what was a good fit for my needs (powerful PC, no GPU), and that I needed a new power supply to meet my future needs. GPU staff and power supply staff were equally helpful. I managed to build a strong 4K video computer that'll last me years. Hardest part was installing the new power supply. But the case made it easier than it could've been. I just wish I didn't have to get these lights on the PC. LOL! read more

These people are a joke. I've dealt with them twice and both times they have broken my electronics more than when I brought them in. The first time when I was upgrading my PC, they messed up the BIOS and I had to get a new motherboard. We drove about an hour over here to browse for computer parts, right? Once we arrived we noticed people walking to the front, grabbing a sheet of paper that an employee was handing out so we thought, "oh a sale!" Nooo, so here's how it worked when we visited. You scan the code that is on the sheet of paper (I think the QR code is also taped to the front of the building as well) to check in, and then you wait in your vehicle for them to text you when it is your turn to enter. It took us a little over an hour to be texted, which was kind of frustrating not knowing how long we had. There is a Walmart and some other places right beside if you want to waste time there instead of sitting in your hot vehicle. It was a good process to keep the crowd under control, as the parking lot was FULL of people waiting. I would just suggest maybe getting there early to get your spot in line, and also bring something to do while you wait for your turn. Once we were inside though, it was pleasant! Plenty of room to shop for parts and plenty of employees willing to assist! A++ for customer service! At checkout there's actually a flat screen on the wall showing you how many people are inside (it changes as people leave and enter, obviously). Very high tech! We are planning on visiting again next weekend for more parts, but now we know what to expect and I hope this helps you too! read more

The store is pretty cool and MOST of the staff was very helpful. I had placed my order online for a large number of PC upgrade parts, I went up to the pick up counter, and the guy was nice at first, but definitely lacked eye contact.. he got all my items together and asked me if I wanted to purchase the insurance on the parts I had initially said "no thank you" but he was quite persistent. I told him no again and then he went on a small rant about how often the parts break.. I don't know too much about parts. I had my boyfriend put it all together online so that I wouldn't have to think about anything, I could just pay for it. I felt pressured so I just said sure, Yeah I guess I'll take the insurance.. as I was about to pay, I mentioned that I called ahead asking if they did a military/1st responder discount, the employee on the phone said yes, there is a first responder discount. I mentioned that to the cashier and he said I have been working here for two years and I've never heard of that. I reiterated that I called ahead to make sure that this was an option. He again said "nope, not here." As I left the store, I felt a little upset about the whole interaction . I called my boyfriend to explain, and he said that I definitely got scammed and taken advantage of because I'm a woman. I returned inside with my receipt and asked to speak with a manager ( Joshua F.) who cleared up the whole situation and gave me a refund on the insurance.. I explained that I know the guy was doing his job however I did say no thank you twice. I made sure that I'm getting top-of-the-line parts. They shouldn't have any issues. But other than the one guy everybody there was really nice and very helpful I looked around the store a little bit before going to pick up my purchase and I had asked questions on numerous items and the staff was very friendly. read more

As a Bay Area tech native, I've always heard about the legend of Micro Center, but was never close enough to one to visit. After moving to the Dallas area, I can definitely see what the hype is about. It's like a candy store for tech geeks. They have pretty much everything you can think of regarding computers, and lots of other tech stuff as well. Everyone's very friendly and knowledgeable here, though I'd say you should probably be somewhat well versed in tech so you don't waste the staff's time (I went in here for some DRAM and an M.2 SSD for a build, and the guy helping me asked me for my processor/mobo information and what timings I wanted for my memory, which might be sorta daunting for non-tech folks). It's huge and very organized inside, with prebuilt computers showcased in the back, and all of the wares are usually about market value or cheaper. I'd recommend coming here when there's a sale (Black Friday is coming up!). However, I think if I were in the area, I'd just come by to browse, though it's really tempting not to buy anything. Pro tip: if you're a first time customer here, go online and pick up a virtual coupon for $15 off SSDs, HDDs, motherboards or memory. (This coupon replaces their original deal of a 240gb cheap SSD, which was about a $20-25 value, but if you didn't need an extra SSD, this deal is even better). You'll need to sign up for the coupon, and it's one time use, but it's sent to your device and you can scan it at the register. read more

They didn't even give us a power cord with it and I had to go back. They have no container for the finished brand new computer and they just hand it to you, unprotected. They didn't tell us we needed certain parts to connect a monitor, even though we told them the first time we had an older monitor. So we can't even connect it. Texted their support and no one responded. There doesn't seem to be any accountability. Update: they never told us but we had to run out and get another adapter to connect to our existing monitor. The tower they built has a clear see through casing and bright alternating lights inside that give me a headache. The build tech never mentioned a thing about this. RIDICULOUS. Will probably be returning the newly built PC for refund. If you need a computer built, I'd look elsewhere. read more

If I could give 0 I would. DO NOT trust this company with repairs. I took my laptop Micro Center and they guaranteed a 1 week call back for the diagnostic. After 1 1/2 month of waiting for any reply and after repeated attempts to reach them through text and email I decided to just pick it up. When I arrived, I had to wait for 1 1/2 hours for them to FIND my computer, they had no idea who was working on it and had no idea where it was. An employee was barely running a diagnostic on it only to tell me that the part I needed was on backorder. After complaining and demanding my computer back (open and damaged) the manager guaranteed a callback the next day, but I NEVER got a call. Upon further inspection, a tech who couldn't find the screws to put it back together used the wrong screws and damaged the top. Not only did they not fix the original problem they ended up costing me an ADDITIONAL $300 to repair my computer. Im a college student and could barely afford to get the laptop in the first place. I'm beyond frustrated and disappointed in this company. Their customer service is atrocious and can't be trusted to fix problems. Please save yourself the time and pain and find a different company to repair your computers. read more

This place is near my work and reminds me of mini Fry's but with just computer components only. The reminders are they ask you if you want to apply for a credit card, a extended warranty plan on electronics and the old computer systems they have. However, it is since to have a computer store like this since Fry's went out of business and they do have every computer component that you need and an arcade machine if you want. It was a great experience to have a store like this. I came here for a 8 port hub and saw that it was for $50 dollars marked down so I got one. When I got to the cashier, I saw the price was $67 dollars and I mentioned that I saw it for $50 dollars. The cashier told me to take a picture of it and then I showed him the picture and the manager came over and approved of it. Took maybe 10 minutes to do not too bad of a wait. I went to go get new switches for my keyboard, I asked an employee for help finding the right ones. I told him I had a Redragon K552 and that I want switches that are compatible with that keyboard. He told me that the switches he handed me will work with it. Turns out the switches dont fit and they keep bending. Despite claiming to be one of the worker's with the most knowledge of keyboards, I didn't get the right switches. I'm really upset that I was under the pretense that the switches would work. read more

I get told on the phone with an Agent that my rebuild would be same day if within 4 hours before closing or next day if not. I show up to get my rebuild, they say it's going to take 2-3 weeks. HOW DOES IT TAKE 2-3 WEEKS TO JUST PUT A PC TOGETHER. Thats fucking ridiculous, I paid $378 to miss work for 3 week essentially for something that could be done within an hour. Micro Center is the ultimate tech nerd heaven. Electronics and gear to suit your every need as well as some pretty knowledgeable staff. The boyfriend is into building gaming PCs and was losing his mind roaming the aisles, I was impressed by how impresses he was with the store (because otherwise, I didn't recognize much of what was being offered lol.) The 3D print aisle was neat, they had some pretty cheap versions of 3D printing pens and all the different colored filamints had swatches printed out so you could see the shades better. Pricing was pretty competitive, they do offer Amazon price matches as long as items are shipped and sold via Amazon. Everything on display was well maintained and there were tons of staff roaming the aisles ready to assist. read more

They love ripping off my little niece got a 175hz monitor stuck on 60hz can't go further sold her a pc that came with low thermal paste so her pc will Js shut off every 30 min on game play luckily I fixed it bc I know what I'm doing last time I went I was 13 they dropped my cpu on my motherboard n charged me for the pins they broke!! They didn't think I knew but I had something to say n they js ignore me 500$ for a bad motherboard I had that's crazy ? My partner and I came to this microcenter since Newegg sent us a faulty power supply. Thankfully we came before the release of the new Invidia RTX370 graphics card. Otherwise the crowd would've been worse than when we went. We got the power supply. After waiting for 45 minutes in a classically Texas hot sunny day. To follow social distancing guidelines all customers had to wait in boiling hot afternoon weather. This microcenter needs to actually be prepared for social distancing in the store instead of making people wait outside. They would have enough space if the interior was actually clean. I've always heard about this store from friends but I never lived next to one. and if you build computers or have to tinker with electronics to any degree this store is your go-to. They have prices for everything competitive to Amazon unlike altex. The store has many displays and examples of products and things of that sort. Including a large aisle for just 3D printing filament and they have swatches for what the plastic looks like in the end. they have gaming chairs in which you can sit in or at least just look at all the keyboards had all their keys. they had a custom water cooling loop just for you to look at a mini computer towers already assembled and built so that you can look and see if products you need will be able to fit inside set computer. All in all lots of displace inspire future projects. All the employees I talked to were extremely knowledgeable in computer building and custom watercooling loops. And they are able to price match Amazon prime products as long as it shipped and sold by Amazon. In all this is like the greatest story ever if you build computers and stuff. read more

For the DFW area, Micro Center has taken the place of Fry's Electronics. As my computer was slowly dying, I needed to buy a replacement. Fortunately, I was able to find a Dell XPS desktop in stock without having to wait a month for delivery if I purchased directly from Dell. When I purchased the computer online, I opted for the $80 service fee to transfer the data to the new computer. The service technician who assisted me suggested a better alternative. Rather than transfer the data which may take 1-3 days, he could install the hard drive into the new computer. Not only would it be the same cost, I would take my new computer home immediately. I inquired about buying and installing memory as I really wanted a desktop with additional memory . When the tech told me of the $20 install fee, I gave the go ahead. The time I saved by not installing it myself is definitely worth $20. On my initial visit, I was in and out within 30 minutes. Unfortunately, I had to make an unexpected repeat visit. My computer had booted to my old hard drive. Rather than spend the time fixing the problem, I paid the $40 diagnostic fee online and setup an appointment the same weekend. The same technician fixed the problem. Since I was under the warranty period of the hard drive installation, he refunded the diagnostic fee On a side note, I had problems scheduling the appointment. While completing the purchase the first time, the browser gave an error the page could not be found. I tried and failed on my laptop and smartphone. Got a good price on a bundle, and also found I could build a very basic computer pretty cheaply with their online build tool. The few people I interacted with there were alright. My issue is the location, and the condition of the store. I hope this place could move to a better location in Dallas. Also, this place is quite aged. The lighting is drab and yellow. There's missing ceiling panels over the cashiers that are covered (poorly) with some kind of make-shift tarp. It looks like a place that is on it's way out unfortunately. I would assume there's still a good amount of folks that still come here, but that would be really cool if they could move to a less tacky area. Hopefully this location doesn't end up closing. I don't know how Micro Center runs things, but if anyone sees this that has any kind of authority, at least brighten up the place with better lighting. It kind of has a "backrooms" vibe in there. Went in looking for good values on a PC and peripherals, for my daughter, who is home-schooling. The upselling started almost immediately, followed by aclaim of a "discount of up to 10% if you apply for their store credit card." The process is on your phone, which already makes it difficult to read, for old eyes such as mine. After repeating sensitive personal info at least 4 times, the automated service (processed by Wells Fargo, one of the WORST credit processors), the system hung up on me the first time. After calling back and going through the process AGAIN, the auto system supposedly sent me an authorization PIN ( I NEVER got it!) All this was happening WHILE we were at a checkout station, blocking up other paying customers. After almost 30 minutes of waiting, tons of frustration, and more NON-SUCCESS, I just decided to pay cash for the almost $3000.00 purchase! Their check verification was the same FUBAR ststem! Their in-store and online methods to check credit absolutely SUCK! A "manager " came over, observed the situation, then just walked away. WOW! Now that's customer service! Even at an almost $300.00 potential discount, on the purchase it was not worth the time hassle, or embarrassment we had to endure... Were it not for my daughter, I WOULD have walked out, leaving all of my potential purchases sitting on the checkout counter. I'm sure I can find it elsewhere and WILL, in the future! As it stands, they told me since TRANSUNION locked, froze, blocked, or put SOME DAMN Restriction on my credit (without my knowledge or authorization). they couldn't check my 825 credit score! They didn't even try to use Equifax or Experian, OR for that matter, even call my bank, where I have more than one 6-figure checking and savings account! with prices not all that great, and an ABSOLUTE HASSLE FACTOR to check out. Pretty good electronic store stocked with a lot of supplies. During these times, they do have a staff member in front who sprays hand sanitizer on all people before they enter and requires mask wearing. For picking PC components, they have salesman who are willing to spend all the time you need explaining different parts to you and working with you to build a PC you'll come to love. It can get busy during holiday/sale times, but overall they are pretty efficient. As with many other sales places, these employees may get commissions, so at times I felt like I was being upsold on particular components or on joining their credit card line or on buying insurance. For returns, as long as you have a receipt and your product is still good to return, it is a very quick and painless procedure. It was my first time at Micro Center and it felt like a dream come true. There aren't many or any computer stores near me for most of my life (aside from a general big box one) so most of the computer parts, laptops, desktops, accessories, and so forth are usually images or videos I've seen online. I recently purchased an old gaming PC my roommate built and became addicted to Fortnite and Valorant. However, I forgot to pack my keyboard for my flight back home and am left with just my PC and monitor. It was the perfect excuse to drive all the way to Micro Center. I barely started checking out various gaming keyboards when a very kind and knowledgeable worker came over to help me out. I would have went with the keyboard he suggested too, but found an even better one after Gavin Li helped me out. You don't get this kind of customer service at other computer stores that I've been to. I ultimately went with the ROG Strix Scope NX TKL in Moonlight White. It was on sale for $20 off so I thought that was a steal. Unfortunately Amazon was even cheaper than that sale price by another $18 (so $38 total) and I still have a gift card from Amazon so I bought it there instead. Still my experience here left a lasting impression. If all employees here are as helpful and knowledgeable as Gavin and the first guy who helped me out, then I would always come here for my computer needs if I lived in the city. I purchased a refurbished laptop from Microcenter. When I was setting it up I realized it wasn't charging, so I made an appointment with service the day after I bought it. They offered me a replacement but they didn't have an equivalent refurbished product, so they replaced it with one of a different brand that had slightly different specs (better in some respects, not as good in others, but I could live with the compromise) that also was worth more than the one I purchased. They went above and beyond to make a customer happy and I greatly appreciate them for it. read more
