I'm pretty new to Micro Center, but I find it amusing the decor reminds me of the corpse of a Fry's Electronics (rest in peace, my dudes). In terms of PC parts they're technically here, but it's not really kid in a candy store vibe for tech that I was hoping for. I've only ever done purchases, never had to get tech support so can't speak on that angle. It's a little better than buying parts on Newegg, but sometimes the variety of parts leave little room for variety. When I specific tech concerns for my rig, some of the staff kind of gave me the path of least resistance answer like "we don't do that here", not even at least trying to attempt to solve my problem or tell me where else I should go. Was hoping this would be a good spot to go if I ever did need tech support, but that doesn't seem to be the case here. read more

I've spent thousands of dollars consistently at this Micro Center location over the past year, primarily on higher-end PC components. Unfortunately, my experiences have repeatedly involved inaccurate guidance from staff and a lack of follow-through when issues arise. During a workstation build, I purchased a motherboard and was told confidently that it supported four NVMe SSDs. Based on that advice, I was sold four NVMe drives at the same time. After getting home and installing everything, I discovered the fourth "slot" was actually a Wi-Fi NVMe slot, and Micro Center does not even carry an SSD compatible with it. This should have been identified at the point of sale, especially since the motherboard and SSDs were purchased together. In that same build, I was also sold a Wi-Fi PCIe card alongside an AMD motherboard, despite the box clearly stating it was not compatible with AMD platforms. Again, this was sold with confidence by staff while all components were being purchased together. I also ran into a fitment issue with an AIO cooler. I explicitly told the associate I was using a Corsair Obsidian 1000D case, and the rep looked up the case and assured me a 360mm AIO would fit. After getting everything home, I found that the case requires a 420mm AIO in the top configuration. The unit I was sold also appeared to be an older, unbranded model pulled from the back rather than a clearly current, well-documented option adding to my concern about the recommendation. More recently, I placed an in-store hold on a Bambu Lab P2S combo after confirming availability with an associate and was given a printed hold slip with a date and timestamp. The next day, while on my way to the store, I received a call saying the unit was no longer available and had been "allocated to online inventory." The paperwork I was given showed zero web orders, and I was told the people who could explain the allocation weren't available. I was then told a manager would follow up when new inventory arrived. I waited through a holiday, called again, and was told the manager was busy and would call me back. That call never came. As of today (Thursday), the store's website shows eight units in stock, yet no one ever contacted me. At that point, it's hard to avoid the conclusion that either follow-ups aren't being tracked or customer commitments aren't taken seriously. I understand that inventory sells out and mistakes happen. The issue is the pattern: incorrect technical guidance at purchase time, documented assurances that aren't honored, and repeated failures to close the loop after escalation. For a store that markets itself on knowledgeable staff and expert advice, this has been disappointing. I'm leaving this review so store leadership is aware. I want to continue shopping here, but based on repeated experiences, it's becoming difficult to trust the guidance or the follow-through. read more

Durant is a wonderful server. He is so knowledgeable and we felt like we had our own personal chef guiding us through our culinary experience. Durant gave us the absolutely best things to try from appetizers, drinks to entrees. Amelia is a wonderful hostess and recommended my wife and I to enjoy dinner outside. I am a retired IT tech and I frequently help friends. A friend had a laptop that wouldn't boot and I wasn't available so she took it to Microcenter. Tech said it couldn't be fixed and sold her a new one . charged for setup and transferring data. I asked my friend if I could see the "dead" laptop and I fixed it in literally 10 minutes!. Either the techs at the Rockville store are totally incompetent or they blatantly and criminally ripped her off. Additionally, I have found many of the salespeople are absolutely clueless! I will never go there again and I will make so nobody I know goes there. read more

Avoid like the plague. Bough an Dell Precession 3630 which was billed as having a solid state hd. Boy it so slow. Sometimes it just freezes. I've re installed win 11 as well as installed a second hd to pick up the slack but it is still a POS. Customer service is no help. Buy online from Amazon which I had done before with good results: my Lenovo could run circles around the Dell. Basically Dell sold its name without quality control; the Lenovo cost half the price. And check out at Micro Center is more intrusive than the border between countries. They ask for every conceivable bit of information. If you go add on an extra 15 minutes just for checking out with a purchase. read more

Do not purchase anything from Micro Center if you are not an expert on the item. They will take advantage. I purchased small items there like ink, etc., but when i went looking for a computer, they sold me a PowerSpec without full disclosure. They build these computers. When, I tried to reach power spec because I was having trouble connecting my wireless printer, I learned that it was Micro Center that owned the computer. The tech guys wanted to charge me to assist me with connecting my printer. They should have informed me before purchasing. The salesperson encouraged me to purchase it my stating that she had one. read more

I placed an order online for in-store pickup. I received an email letting me know that my order was ready so I headed into the store to get it. Long story short, apparently at this store, they mark orders as ready for pickup and then look for the items later. I showed up to find out that they didn't actually have my items in stock at all. A normal store would have looked for the items, gotten them together with my name on them, and then emailed me that they were ready. Or, they could have looked, seen that they didn't actually have the items and send me an email apologizing and then cancelled my order. Telling me that the order is ready when they don't even have the items is just unacceptable. I complained to the store manager who apologized for the inconvenience. After I ASKED what he was willing to do to compensate me for my wasted time, he asked me what I would like. He did provide me with the significantly more expensive replacement item that I requested, which I appreciate, but he should have offered compensation up front. Great place. Last time I built a PC was in 21 so wasn't up to date on the newest GPU & CPUs. Idk what his name was, but the guy who helped me find an AMD CPU, CPU cooler, Motherboard, & GPU around noon on Sunday after Black Friday could walk the walk & talk the talk. I originally told him that I was good & didn't need any help, but also didn't realize the GPUs were locked up, which in retrospect makes sense lol read more

UPDATE: Do NOT go here. After they held my computer for 2 weeks and did nothing, I handed them my laptop and asked to buy a compatible replacement battery. They sold me a battery. I later took it to another computer place to replace it and learned that they sold me THE WRONG SIZE. And of course the return window has passed. If their job isn't reasonable turnaround times and their job isn't to sell you the compatible items you need based on their expertise, WHAT is their job? Continued abysmal service. It's sort of defiantly bad - "we don't care what you think" sort of thing. After many many emails apologizing for the chaos resulting from having been sold Dell extended warranty schemes that do not exist, MicroCenter arranged to substitute their own warranty and "as goodwill" said that they would reimburse me for the cost of an annual subscription to Priority Care. Many many calls later, they have not reimbursed me. It's the time wasted in listening to hollow promises that is more exasperating than the dollar amounts involved. read more

He's like I don't understand. says right here it's ready. She said Well it's not. She did nothing to either try to fix the issue or offer any kind of help. He said let me talk to the manager. I use Microcenter for all of my computer needs. It's like a Toys R US for techie adults!! This specific location had 4080s and 4090s that would stay in stock much longer than the Fairfax location. I was able to get there and purchase one for my PC that I built. As far as the building, it is located in a random "mall" and the space is very compact and can feel tight when you walk through. They do have a decent inventory and a huge variety of items in stock. Not as much as what Fairfax has, but it definitely is the 2nd best store in the DMV! read more

I've been shopping in this store for years. At least two and a half decades. I don't honestly know why I keep shopping here. Every time I go here I'm always treated as if I'm a thief although I end up spending in excess of $200, $300, $400 and even as much as $1,000 dollars in this store purchasing electronics or getting computers repaired. I've purchased 3 laptops, a desktop, and I've had my daughter's laptop repaired here. At the checkout, I wasn't offered a bag so I put the SD card and Flash Drive in my purse. The moment I opened it the cashier leaned over to peer inside my purse even though I just spent $222 and some change. I don't like the way I was asked, "Do you need help?," but wasn't assisted. I don't like the fact that the guy who asked me if I needed assistance later came onto the aisle that I was on and started pantomiming like he was doing some actual work but he was only there to watch me. I loathe this behavior and I've begun to film store clerks following me around the stores to put up on social media to convey how I'm treated as a paying customer versus how thieves who are pointed out are allowed to get away with their thievery. As much as I dislike making issues about colorism, I find it odd how the Caucasian Sales Associate guy asks me if I need assistance, doesn't assist me, goes to assist another Caucasian person and the young Black Sales Associate had to come over to assist me because she saw me just standing there filming and beginning to look disgruntled. Things in this store are way overpriced. I see why everyone orders everything off of the Amazon website / app or they go to Best Buy. This store is good if you need HDMI cables or something like that. Take your chances. I won't any longer. read more

Micro has a decent inventory, but the sales people are high pressure and they will deceive you. I cannot speak to gaming equipment. Headphones, earbuds, and other accessories are priced reasonably. I would never buy a computer there. They do not support their sales. A sales person told me I could not see a computer before I bought it. I raised the issue to a manager who did not resolve the issue. Good inventory; problematic customer services. read more

When the first machine had difficulties, the online tech support provided free for 60 days by Micro Center helped us determine that we needed a different machine. I brought in a 7 year old Macbook Pro with a screen that wouldn't work and a 9 year old iMac with an SSD that failed. Neither device was worth more than $200 in tradein so I was looking for inexpensive fixes. I had already run diagnostics on both. For the Macbook I specifically told Nate don't just run the hardware test and tell me that I need a new $800 display. I told Nate I want the technician to try replacing the $10 flex cable for the display. For the iMac I told him that I was skeptical that both the SSD in the PCI slot and the one in the HD bay had failed simultaneously. I wanted him to remove the one from the PCI slot and see if that fixed the issue. The technician did exactly what I said not to do: he only ran hardware diagnostics and told me I needed a new $800 display and $1500 for a new Apple brand SSD and said I would need to pay at least $200 per device to try the diagnostics that I requested. If the technician had told me that during my 10 free consultation then I would not have left my devices for service. It was a complete waste of money and I still want a refund. The service manager was rude and promised to fight back if I disputed the charges. read more

Micro Center is my favorite store. It has everything you could ever want when it comes to computers. As soon as you walk in, you are hit with just how many computer accessories they have. They have an entire section dedicated to computer monitors and pre-built desktops ranging from personal used to gaming. They then have an entire section for televisions, Rose upon rows of accessories and chords for computers, and at the very back of the store is there "build your own PC" section. The section contains all the parts you would need to build your very own PC. Everything from fans to water cooling systems to GPUs to CPUs, they have it all. It's really exciting walking through the isles and seeing all the different choices you could have. I also appreciate that they have some sections for video games, virtual reality, drones, and recording/streaming equipment. This is a store I can easily spend several hours perusing the shelves, and I highly recommend it for anyone with slight interests in technology. read more

Went in to Micro Center needing JUST a new battery for my 2014 Macbook Pro. Micro Center refused to proceed without charging me a $50 "diagnostic fee." After making sure my laptop turned on, they then said they would check on the replacement battery and would text me a price; should also note that they tried to sell me on additional computer services without a clear resolution to my initial problem... such enthusiasm! After keeping my laptop for 24 hours, they texted me a cost of $500. Yes, $500. When I went to go pick it up, I asked why so much for just one battery? They claimed that they couldn't replace just the battery, due to the adhesive, and would need to replace the ENTIRE bottom half of my machine. After putting a curse on all of them, I took my ailing laptop home and figured out how to replace the battery myself. Spent $40 on the replacement battery and about 30-45 minutes teardown. If you need a new battery for an older MacBook Pro, 2013-2014, do yourself a favor and don't waste your time at Micro Center. read more

After visiting the Micro Center Website for computer services, I took my HP laptop to the service center to have my data transferred to a another drive. Without giving too much detail, Micro Center had my laptop for 6 weeks, and continuously provided me with incorrect information and contradictory information on the status of my laptop. Eventually, I decided to retrieve my device after several visits to the Center to check on the status. I paid $50 for diagnostic service but did not pay for any additional services. I am still unable to retrieve my data, and now I cannot power up my laptop either. Terrible services by their young team of so called techs. read more

They sold me a damaged B650 motherboard. When I tried to return it, they told me I damaged it. This was an open box and was missing parts obviously a returned item. I picked it up instore as an online purchase, so I didn't realize at the time the box was missing the seal and the WiFi Antenna. They treated me like garbage. I had purchased the warranty plan through them, so I got an exchange, but they weren't going to exchange it. Now they have an additional 'if you break it' warranty plan. Probably because they knowingly dump there broken items off on customers and bank on customers not buying the extra plan. Criminals! read more
